Internet Connectivity issue after 3.1 update - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Anyone else having issues with internet connectivity after the 3.1 update? None of the other devices on my network are having any sort of issues. I've already tried to remove my router and readd it again but no dice. Sometimes I need to refresh webpages 3-4 times before they come up, and simple websites too.....like Google.
edit: I see the icons on the WiFi icon blinking......but webpages aren't loading. Tested the YouTube app and videos take forever to load. Also tested in DolphinHD and Opera and they're having connectivity issues also.

no problem for me. Do a cold reboot

Yeh, I tried that too. I guess I'll see if the problem goes away in the next day or so, otherwise I'll go find some instructions on restoring the machine to default. Good thing i've been too lazy to load all my apps and data on this puppy lol....too lazy and busy just playing with the damn thing lol.

No problem here. I just update about 2 hours ago. WiFi has been online w/o interruptions.

My problem is that it wont see all wifi networks available! ? e.g I know at the office there are 2 wifi routers to connect too, it will see one but not the other and the one it sees it won't connect too?!
Ideas anyone?
Plus there is no option for setting a static ip with 3.1

Just a thought, I am sure I saw that the TF cannot detect WiFi channel 13. Is there a chance that those office routers use channel 13?

I had a problem connecting to my router. I just went into the network settings and "forgot" my network. Waited a minute and the transformer detected it and connected fine.

Same here: after a few hours, the wifi activity icon blinks merrily away, but zero actual connectivity!
I had to switch to airplane mode and back again for it to work.
Sadly, it's already happened twice since this the 3.1 update earlier today!!!

haha so I'm not the only one and I'm not crazy after all!

I'm getting an issue where the wifi indicator turns white but the arrows keep blinking. I have to log off then log back on for the indicator to turn blue and the data to start flowing. Pretty lame. All other phones, comps, and I pods are connecting to the router fine.

wifi cm7 fix for touchpad

i believe i found a fix for the wifi losing connection to hour tablet. When you tablet loses connection with wifi let it run dry till it is dead on battery than the wifi will start working again. This has worked multiple times for me.
When you say "let it run dry" you let the battery run till it's dead? That will take hours to drain and then time to charge. Please explain.
well what happened to me was that the wifi would no longer connect so what i did i let my touchpad run till it was dead than recharge and whalla. The wifi is working again.
That would be a work around and not a fix...

well it is work around. Currently there is nothing that "fixes" this so this is the closest thing to a fix.
I've my TouchPad and HD2(HyperDroid) both on wifi issue.
Letting your pad go dead then recharging is no different than performing a simple reboot. Reboot your tablet instead. Much faster and yes it does seem to connect instantly. You can also "forget" the connection and then reconnect.

It isn't always as simple as that, rebooting causes wifi problems on mine.
The workaround that works for me is setting my router to use channel 6.
I have had some success getting my Touchpad to stay connected.
At first I was using a D-link DIR-655 wireless N router that would not stay connected reliably. One of my friends was selling a Netgear WNR-2000 N router for $20, so I tried it, and it works very well, stays on channel 1 all the time. I get about 20 Mbps download speed over cable. Not bad.
But I also had the "1/1/1970" issue when rebooting sometimes. This was a real pain in the butt to get fixed. Tried all kinds of different settings, but nothing seemed to work reliably. It causes SSL errors and certificate errors on websites. Someone, somewhere suggested Clocksync App. and since it runs with superuser permissions at boot, my problem is solved.
I use SetCPU app to overclock to 1.7ghz at boot, and the Clocksync to set the time and date. This thing is a rocket ship compared to any of the tablets I have seen. BTW, I'm running CM7 Alpha 3.5. I will probably try ICS when it's released, but for me, I'm happy already.
Hope this helps someone else.
Just installed CM7. First boot Wifi was fine. I had yet to install the Google Marketplace files. I connected and browsed the internet for a bit.
Once I installed these and rebooted Wifi is now dead. You can see it attempting to restart multiple times. I have two routers an Airport Extreme and a Engenious Portable router and neither work. I don't think the router is the issue. When you try to make changes to the settings on the Touchpad it freezes up and throws this error:
Activity wifi settings (in application settings) is not responding.
You are then asked to Force Close or Wait.
Hoping there is a solution because without wifi well Android is pointless on this device. No other installation issues occurred.
Thanks!
EDIT: I changed my Airport Extreme Router to Channel 6 and the Touchpad was able to connect. I will try my other router as well to see if this resolves the issue.

[Q] wifi issues?

sometimes it works... sometimes it doesn't... the same router on which other devices work perfectly fine... so its not a router issue...
anyone else had issues with wifi connection on the atrix... a minute ago it was showing as connected but it wasn't working so i had to turn it off on the phone and connect again
help!
Mine did this for a while it would list wifi as connected but the phone did not have a internet connection. Changing the channel on the router to 9 as well as changing the password and resetting the router fixed the problem.

Weird Probllems with With WiFi and Data
Heres whats going on... I go into the same Starbucks I frequent, the Hotspots login Fails, it state it cant determine my eligibility, call customer service.... Then I get the :No Data Connection:, and then I get the ISP Orange Triangle your password/Authorization failed, the Icons wifi, 4G and Netwoork are Blue, white white.
I switch to email, and all 3 icons are now white, I open Market, it states no connection retry.
I reboot power off/on the phone and voila, The Phone comes up, logs into Hotspots and all 3 icons are blue,
This back and forth game is repeated all the time, at Starbucks, at home, ect.
Can anyone tell me exactly whats going on and how to fix it,
@Clouded - before it took me a while before my phone auto connects but after a power outage the router shutdown and went back up again after the power outage. Guess what - Now my phone connects automatically without problem ^_^ I know my router works well but I guess a quick power cycle of router will help.
thanks folks - i'm going to try both the solutions provided. reboot wlan router & check the wifi sleep setting...
will post how it goes later...

wifi connects but doesn't work

I have a stock Skyrocket (4.0.3-IML74K.CLE5) I am using as a media player. I keep it in airplane mode all the time with the Wifi on connected to my router. Yesterday the Play store started telling me there was no connection even though I was connected to my router. I went to the web and found I could connect to pages, but constantly get security warnings. If I click continue I can go on to see the page. Netflix tells me there is a problem connecting to Netflix. Voice search works fine. Google Voice tells me there was a network error. Facebook says it can't find a secure connection. Gmail says no connection. Zedge works fine.
I have tried four different wifi Hotspots both secured and insecure. I have tried telling it to forget the connections and reconnecting. I have restarted many times, removed the battery, and tried all the frequency bands.
The wifi icon in the notification bar shows a strong connection. And the little arrows light up orange and green to show activity.
I am guessing there is something wonky going on with establishing a secure internet connection, bit I have no idea how to fix it. Any advice is appreciated.
Q&A please

Sorry about posting in the wrong spot.
I have been using it like this for three weeks. The problem started two days ago.
Update: it works again. I don't know what I did to fix it, though. I went through every setting, and did turn off screen lock and unknown sources, bit I doubt that did it.
i figured it out, i had the same problem, the date and time were askew. updated them and it worked just fine ^__^

wifi problems

hello guys,
i may have a problem with my wifi connection.
i bought two days ago the phone and yesterday i was playing with it in my house. i have some kind of problem when i am connected to my rooter.
when i connected my phone, i started viewing some sites and watching youtube videos.
suddenly i had this problem:
at the browser when i clicked a site, it started load it but never ended, just showing a white page. if i pressed stop and reload then the site was loaded ok.
this happened all the time.
when i returned to youtube the videos started and played for 10-20 seconds and then were freezed because the phone could not get the rest video.
at the same time i had internet access from my rooter as i could navigate at sites from my tablet.
if i close and open my wifi on phone then the connection was ok but after a while (10 mins) this strange behavior started again .
has anyone ever had the same problem;
thanks you
(PS sorry for my english)
What ROM are you using, and did you try to reset the phone and wipe cache/dalvik?
Sent from my HTC One XL using xda app-developers app
the phone is new (2 days old) and its stock
Have you tried simply power-cycling the router? Should be one of the first things you do, anytime you have a WiFi problem, as this will clear it up many times. I think I've seen this help even in cases where other devices work on the WiFi network properly.
yeap, i restarted both router and the phone
i have changed all the settings on the wifi-settings but did not see any progress.
From htc support told me to worj the phone in safe mode, but i have to wait until i return home
besides this problem, i cant connect and the router at my office (i had the same problem with mt s2 after an update, but 1-2 months later sammy rolloed out an update and the problem fixed)
Is security enabled on your WiFi network, and if so, what type (WEP, WPA, WPA2, etc.). You might try switching the encryption type (although WEP is not recommended, as its not very secure). I've seen cases where this has helped various connection problems.
I have had this problem with a lot of phones that friends and family bring by. 90% of the time the problem is a minor setting on the router. Some Android phones don't like AES encryption. If your encryption settings on your router are set to "AES" or "TKIP and AES" try changing it to just TKIP. You should see improvement with your connection.
You may have to change the security settings on other devices that are connected to that router as well to refelect the change.
hey guys,
yesterday evening, when i returned home i checked my router if it was able to change the frequency from 2.4GHz to 5GHz but i could not as at the channel it did not had choises for 5GHz.
i did not change the encryption type.
i restarted the phone, and entered in safe mode. after 10 mins the problem occurred again, i removed chrome, and suddenly the phone started working fine for until 1 hour and so i figured out that the problem was the app chrome, but i left the phone in safe mode and went to bed.
next morning (today) i started watch sites and after 5 minutes the problem occurred again. (i did not turn off the phone from the previous night, still worked in safe mode)
is there any possibility the problem to caused when the phone is in standby? although i have the wifi activation in option always

Wifi on but not connected most of the time?

So i know this is a widespread problem because im on my 3rd pixel 3 and i have exactly the same problem on every one.
When im at home wifi is on but half the time it isnt connected, but as soon as i poke about on the wifi settings it connects. Its like its in some kind of sleep mode or something. I end up using all my mobile data whilst indoors a few meters away from the router! Ive had a pixel 3 since it came out and just cant seem to fix this problem.
Please tell me its a well known problem and some one has worked out a fix
I have not had that problem, but you may be able to reduce the mobile data usage by turning off "Switch to mobile data automatically" in Settings, Wi-Fi preferences.

This is no a known issue and if you're on your 3rd pixel i don't think had anything to do with the phone. It's most likely an issue on your router side. Have you tried resetting it?
Are you by chance using WiFi which is configured as hidden network? This is typically done by checking the checkbook next to "do not broadcast SSID" checkbox.
If you are connecting to such network, there is a setting you have to check while setting up that WiFi connection. It is hidden in normal dialog and so it is easy to miss. This was the root cause for similar issue I have seen on my Android devices including Pixel.
Im not using a hidden network. The weirdest thing is whenever i notice its not using wifi as soon as i pull down on the screen at the top it will connect. like its been caught out lmao. was using the phone just now, an alert comes up to tell me ive used 2gb of data. so i pull down on top of screen and theres an x on the wifi icon, its on but theres an x (probably means not connected to anything) then a second later it connects. i dont click on anything it just connects whenever i pull the top bar down to check. its been happily eating my data while on sat in doors but as soon as i check that status it connects! its damn crazy!
This is exactly what it does every time without fail whenever i notice there is no wifi.
Fix your router bro

The x on the wifi icon means you are connected to the router, but the router is not connected to the internet. Like everyone else, I think you have a router problem. Rebooting the router may help, but it may be time to replace the router.
Where are you located? It could be that your internet is unable to ping google servers. I have that issue whenever I clean flash, but I am in China so that is why.
This is not a widespread issue and as almost everyone has said, you have a router issue. It's possible that your router "sleeps" when nothing is trying to use it but that's just a guess. My suggestion, get a new router.
