So I have been using Juice Defender Ultimate for a couple of days and also measuring stats with Juice Plotter.
My experience thus far has been that the addition of JDU hasn't really changed my stats. I would say it has helped slightly... At the end of an 8 hour day I am usually at around 65% I average approximately 4% battery drain per hour mostly with the screen off since I don't typically do much on my phone while at work. I'm sure the battery stats will improve with the addition of custom ROMs but was wondering if the 4% decrease per hour was pretty much standard across the board.
I happen to like the battery performance thus far but will admit that my Cappy was providing me with a remaining percentage of around 75% after an 8 hour day. Of course, that Cappy was on Gingerbread with a super tweaked rom that took advantage of every little ounce of conservativity. There really isn't much difference between 65 & 75 but I thought I would throw it out there to see what you all are experiencing.
Thoughts?

Get an HTC Inspire, you'll be down to 20% before lunch time, hehe. That was my last phone, was horrid. What's bad about 65% left after a full day? That sounds amazing to me... means you can go 3 days before recharge!
Actually when I uninstall JDU my battery last longer.

LOL @ some of these replies! Ok. I'll explain why I use JDU. I work in an area that's on the outskirts of AT&T's nearest tower. If am on the outer edges of the building, my service is so so. If I am in my office, which is more interior, my service is off & on. As soon as I walk outside, my service is decent. So, until AT&T increases their presence near our building, I will be faced with a dilemma. The radio on the phone will struggle to lock onto a signal all day long. Depending on where I am in the building, it can get really bad. This constant effort to acquire signal equates to increased battery drain. When I first purchased the Infuse on 5/20, I went back to work that afternoon and my battery had drained from 100% to 40% in less than 4 hours. I had experienced this with my Captivate so I knew it had to be the constant struggle to obtain signal.
The thing I really like about Superpower Beta (which I used and loved on my Cappy), Green Power, and JDU is that they are able to halt that constant struggle when the screen is off (as it is 90% of my time at work). This equates to a much more civilized battery drain. I suppose if I worked in a place where I always had 4 bars this wouldn't even be an issue. Hopefully this explains why I use it. Although JDU probably doesn't do much to "save" battery per say, I think it's invaluable in the way it cuts the communication when the screen is off which in my situation saves battery. I still get phone calls and text messages without issue (depending on where I am in the building). I also have it set to allow data for 5 minutes ever hour which helps.
Wow.. I got a little long winded..

I couldn't care less. I get 24+ hours on my battery now, with chargers in everyplace I frequent throughout the day and a spare charger in my laptop bag for those emergency moments.
I seriously doubt you really use your phone very much. The only time I got 24 hours out of my battery was when it sat unused an entire day.
For the rest of us that actually want to use a smartphone that isn't crippled, this extended life battery is a huge deal. So yes, OP, I check their website every week to see if I somehow missed the announcement. I can't wait!

x2, atleast i'm not the only one that knows how to manage their cell phone battery life.
Right now i'm sitting at 80% with 3h 52m on, time without signal at 1%, screen on time of 16 minutes voice calls of 7 minutes, and I've been listening to music on my phone from the SDcard for about 20 minutes.
If you actually take the time to set up your phone correctly, you can save a ton of battery life. I use tasker to accomplish a majority of these tasks. For instance, when angry birds is being played i have the phone automatically adjust the brightness to a slightly higher level and i have it turn off the data connections and wifi. Then when i exit it returns the phone to the state it was in before angry birds. I have a ton of these profiles set up.
how many people will take the time for that?

Battery life isn't the worst, but for me its inconsistant. One day I will make trough a day, next day ill get half.
I know it will get better with froyo and updated kernals and roms.

I had the same issue. I found that it was something causing the battery not to go to sleep. For me, the music player (Fascinate one from EE rom) would start CorePlayerServices which would run and not allow the phone to sleep. As long as that service is running, my phone wasn't sleeping correctly. There are other things that cause this not sleeping problem as well, but that is the only one I have identified personally.

You are misunderstanding the reasons why I want this battery. Yes I could set up my phone to last for a whole day no problem, but that would severely limit the amount of time that I spend on it and the purpose for which I use it so often. I am constantly testing and flashing new zips over and over and over, which will drain the battery tremendously as it is. Testing a 32 x 32 icon on a 480x800 screen is straining on the eyes when the brightness is turned all the way down, so that must be up to see the fine details of images that I have edited.
I understand that it is completely possible to make my phone last much longer than it currently is, but taking the steps necessary to do so would thus render it useless for the tasks that I am trying to accomplish. I live off of my phone because I can and choose to do so, it is my hobby to develop custom themes/ROMs for the Epic and I don't plan on stopping just to have my battery life last 2x longer.
When this comes out it will mean the difference between being able to do whatever I want on my phone for 8-10 hours under very heavy use and only being able to make it last for less than 6 hours. IMO this is significantly to my advantage.
what is med usage to you?
Put it to a real test. Went to the grand prix today in st. pete.
Didnt even have a full charge around 90%. Had 4g on all day.. Brightness all the way up. Facebook , twitter, and 2 e-mail accounts running in the background. Took tons of video clips and tons of pictures, and streamed music through the bluetooth on the way home. As I type this its been 10 hours since it came off the charger and its at 50% battery with all the same items running.
At 1st I had very very bad battery life. But after using it for a few days and then doing a battery pull (read it would get better after all this) it has been working great, with the same or more use then I was doing the 1st few days of ownership. Just wanted to share a postive experience on battery life since I keep hearing and reading so many negative things.
Edit: Thunderbolt not tunderbolt LOL
Thanks for the tip.
I'm noob w battery. Do you mean just charge it full, pull it out and put it back in and it lasts you that much? I'm skeptical....The most I could have so far is 12 hours and I have 3 bars (out of 10) left.

The main reason people are having drain on 4g from what i heard was the software for the radio was re-written at the LAST minute (the reason for the delay) because they had to change their 700 MHz frequency just a bit higher.. something like 5 or 10 Mhz due to interference with with communication towers at airports. this sucker keeps dropping 4g like its no ones business. the new baseband which will be pushed out in the first update for the phone (hopefully in next month) should correct it.
Thats funny because i was at the gp today and my battery died before i left at 1p. Took a couple of pictures and 1 video. Used gps for like 10 mins and that was it. Stayed in my pocket for the rest of the day.

I turned off 4g and am going 16 hours on 50% battery. Really, to sit in my pocket, do calls, text, and check email I don't need 4g. I too noticed the 4g radio switching on and off constantly. Hopefully the baseband update will fix this.

I think he may be referring to the "bump" charge. Where you charge the phone to full, unplug it, turn it off, charge it to full again, unplug, turn it on, and charge it to full again. Not sure if this is an HTC thing or just a general lithium ion battery thing. But it helps IMO.
I get about 12 hours of battery life with moderate use. I little web surfing, lots of texting, light app usage. My phone is constantly switching from 4G to 3G when I'm indoors. Outside though I'm fine. I'm surprised about the different experiences people are having with battery life.
Since I can't get through a whole day without it dying I bought a second home charger on amazon. I'd like to get the extended battery, but it looks like it'd make this phone too big at that point. I wish there was some better battery tech coming out soon, since there hasn't been too much progression on that front.
Turn on the wifi radio. When you are home or anywhere you have access to wifi, the device will automatically turn the 4g radio off when wifi is up. That simple change has made a huge difference and I dont have to worry about turning the 4g radio on/off manually.
I've been seeing, under heavy use, at minimum 8 hours of use consistently since I've been through a few cycles, including bump charging the first few cycles. Also, a few things that greatly helped me:
Read somewhere that the stock blockbuster app, even if it has never been opened, has a service that updates the movie catalog in the background. Run the app, update it, and in settings turn off movie catalog updates. After doing this my battery didn't drain nearly as fast while in my pocket. I can't verify that this actually helps, but it did for me. I disabled the 4G radio since I live in a 3G area as well.
I also run Green Power as of this morning. My phone has been running over 12 hour with 3:30 of that being actual usage and I'm at 68% remaining. I have it set to 1 minute on and 10 off for data while it is locked in my pocket.
Beyond that, GPS is disabled unless I need it. So is WiFi. Brightness is at about 30%, with a widget to bump it to full when I'm outside in sunlight. I also noticed a big jump when I disabled HTC sense Facebook updates, and used stock Facebook instead. Every time I went to contacts it would download that contacts Facebook updates, which is pointless and uses data constantly under normal usage.
Of course your mileage may vary, but this all gets me through the day under normal usage, and over a half day under heavy usage.
I am currently at 8.5 hours with 79% left on my battery. Stock Battery. If I didn't have to work tomorrow, and be able to make phone calls and such I'd leave my phone unplugged all night to see how long it can go.

I'm assuming thats with Virus Rom as it says in your sig? If so, that makes me want to try it. I'm stock unrooted right now, haven't had time to invest in rooting the ADB original method yet, don't want to rush through it. When I do, I fully intend to try that rom out.
I have the battery widget, and i see some strange spikes to nearly 400 mA, and when the screen is off it sometimes stays at 100+ at idle. The phone also gets noticeably warm. If you have usage statistics, please post a screenshot of your graph.
a lot of people experience this sort of behavior. have you tried doing a factory reset? thar corrected the issue for many users.

I normally get around 2-5 mA usage when the phone is idle. On heavy usage and random use i get from 50-300 mA. Here is the graph.

If you hardly get 8hrs, it would be nice to know how you use your phone. What apps are running, how much txting, music, browsing, game playing, talking, etc. you do on a regular basis. Are you on wifi/wifi calling a lot? (you should be, it helps a lot). For instance, when you look at your battery status/usage, where is the 'display' at? Towards the top? Where is idle at? Towards the bottom?
People have done a factory reset to help this situation out. Some people I have talked to behind the scenes on bad battery use, they have admittedly been using their phone a lot.. One guy who was complaining a lot on the forums.. I talked to him behind the scenes "Well, I am txting all day. I'm a txting junkie." well duh. If the phone is being used constantly... 8hrs sounds about right.
But then again, there are others with legitimate problems. It's hard to tell the honest problems versus those that don't like the fact that their phone gets 8hrs when they are using it all day.. so they post to complain about battery life.

But then again, there are others with legitimate problems. It's hard to tell the honest problems versus those that don't like the fact that their phone gets 8hrs when they are using it all day.. so they post to complain about battery life.

schmit,
Thank you very much for your help.
I have been using my phone more than I would normally use, since I have recently gotten it. However, I am confused whether the G2x is particularly bad in terms of battery life compared to other Android phones.
I am considering switching to a Google Nexus S. I have heard the battery seems to be good enough to hold a day with moderate/heavy usage. Has anyone tried out a Nexus S?
Sorry I moved out of topic a little, but I would like to know users' experiences, since this is my first Android phone.
I have some very high spikes. My battery life is also ****.
I just signed out of Google Voice earlier today. It appears that my battery life has improved greatly. Are many of you using this as well? If you can get away with not using it you may have the same experience.
How do I get to that battery graph?
So, after a first full charge last night, I am still at 85%. Quite good if you ask me.
It's been off the charger for about 12 hours, and saw light usage today. Screen brightness is about 35%, which used 38% of the power.
Most of the time I had the screen off. I made a couple calls and texts, and did a bit of browsing, using the phone less than an hour in total.
Coming from the G2X, this is a big improvement, because it means I'll be able to go a couple days without charging if I need to. I'm sure my battery would drop fast with heavy usage, but this is good enough for me!
had the phone for almost two days.. getting about 14 hours on regular use for me. not bad considering its bone stock. I can manage
install Cut the Rope. You'll see your battery consumption increase drastically. that game is pure evil

i found that with minimum use, and constant reception, im getting almost 20hrs before i get the standard alert.
i usually use internet and gTalk A LOT during a day, and that yields around 10hrs.
but just recently i moved offices to an area with 0 reception or 3g, and when this fone seeks networks, it KILLS the battery, from 100% to 15% warning in just a few hrs
all in all thought its got really good battery life, considering the specs
Thanks, I was looking for this game on the market...
Why does the dev didn't put it on the market ? Is there some fee ?

How do you know the screen brightness percentage? Or is it just a rough estimate?
I was hoping it would at least match my G2 considering it has a 20% larger battery but I could easily go twice as long on my G2 battery as the Sensation. And using the sensation at all really drains the battery fast. 30 minutes of GPS dropped my battery from 95% to 60%. That's just absurd.
lol i completely forgot about the GPS draining the battery, ive only used it twice and never again because its that bad thats a serious issue that hopefully gets fixed (not any time soon though, there are much more important issues at hand)

it's free. I just went to their site, put it the Evo 4G since I don't think the Sensation is listed, downloaded the APK to my dropbox & then opened it on my phone.

I use brightness level/widget to set my screen brightness
This is pretty dumb and could be just me but ill put it out there anyway. My drive to work is about an hour each day. From the time I wake up and get to work its about an hour and a half. My phone would be fully charged when I left my house and end up mid 90s when I get your my job. Maybe low 90s on some days depending on how much traffic there is. When I get to work, my phone seems to die pretty quickly. My job is pretty boring atm so I am on my phone a lot.
Next though. My phone is unplugged for about 20 minutes before I get in my car. Always goes down at least 2 or more percent in that time. But now lately I've been using my car charger on the way to work. Get it fully juiced again even from such a little drain and sometimes it seems like I get double the time from that extra charge. I use the charger it came with at home and bought like a $10 car one from amazon.
There's no proof to what I said but it's been helping me. I was on synergy the past few weeks and just switched to team insomnia last night. Hope this helps someone
I have no idead what that your are trying to say. Switching roms helped you? Or a different charger?
I know what your talking about and I have the same experience just with the home charger, ever since I figured this out I always charge my phone at night and before bed around midnight or 1-2 a.m. I unplug it. I wake up at 9:30-10 I have about a 4% drop of charge and put the phone back on the charger till the phone says charged. Like this I have 3h screen on time with about 1-1.5h talking time. also I stream a lot of music from grooveshark/soundcloud/sirius xm and also use google music..lot of gtalk and video talk with my wifey
try it out guys and see yourself. It really makes a hell of a difference.
EDIT: @aypeeootrek he's trying to say that the battery life is better if you charge the phone wait till a few % drops and charge it again till full. (that's what I understood)
I think that's called the trickle
GS3
Or bump charging. It worked with my Dinc too.

if you are in a low signal area (inside buildings or whatever) then switch to "power saving mode" in the drop down menu.
when out of those areas, switch off the power saver.
if you aren't getting 24 hours from a single charge, then you got apps/widgets sucking up way too much power.
Another choice is buying a second battery. That way if you run low, you just swap out and have another however many hours to play.

The power saving setting really only helps when you are actively using your phone. Having it on or off with more or less be the same when it is idle. And if you get over 24 hours I could easily say you dont use your phone. A better way to judge battery life is by screen on time.

not true. i speak from experience. from battery dead at 5p to 50% at 5p.
i use my phone to talk, email, and text. i guess i'm old school. but with 24 hours and a spare, i'll take it.

24 hours? I've only got that once and I was in a 4g area and didn't touch my phone for 95% of the time. I live in a 3g area and have did almost everything to improve life. I love the days when I get 16 hours. I have definitely found that low signal is hard on this phone battery.

Ya, I am finding a lot of silly statements like the one you were talking about. Everyone seems to have an outstanding WHBL (when hit by lightning) story of how utterly amazing their battery life is, but can't show the rest of the world how they do it. What saves my battery life? I carry an external 5000mA external battery I can just throw on the phone when I am not near a charger. Another trick, I took the battery % off of my screen. Seeing the exact amount really showed me, almost too exactly, how bad the battery life is on this phone. I have felt the same way about other phones before tho, once the Jelly Bean update comes out, which, hopefully, Samsung is probably waiting to release until the iPhone comes out, will fix all of these problems.
So you bump charge it?

The post below yours summed it up pretty well
Sounds like you need a hug, good luck.
I'm about to get a Galaxy S III on Monday, I do need to get an extra battery simply because I always like having a backup battery. Do all versions of the SIII use the same battery? I know when I switched from Verizon Nexus to GSM Nexus I had to buy different batteries for the GSM one.
And yes I'm getting a Verizon S III, I switched my Nexus to the GSM because Verizon killed the Nexus experience for me, but I still have the line so I figured may as well get it updated.
