Is Your Infuse Contacts In Sync? - Samsung Infuse 4G

I add a google contact on my infuse and I press the sync in settings. But when I go to google contacts on the wen on PC they never show up.
But if I add a contact from the web it does sync to the phone?
I did refresh the web page and no contacts I added from my phone show up.
Very frustrating.
Any ideas??

Save Contacts to google
you need to set the default save to be to google.
Click "Contacts", then click settings button on phone then "more" then "settings" then click "save new contacts to" and set it to the google account you want

[Q] Homescreen Contact Shortcut defaults

Does anyone know how to change the defaults for a homescreen contact shortcut?
When you click the shortcut to a contact on the homescreen, several options come up at the top of the screen depending on what methods of communication you have for that person: Phone, Contact details, Text, Email, Map...
If there is more than one option for a particular communication method (say, you have both corporate email and gmail setup, when you click on the email icon, it will ask you which to use. When you click on "set default" it will always use what you chose.
Problem is, I chose the wrong method when I clicked "set default" and now I can't change it back. It wants to use my corporate account to send with rather than my gmail accound. And since it pulls up corporate email when you click on the email icon, it won't let you change the "from" to anything other than a corporate (exchange) account. (I have 2, and both show up, but not gmail.)
Anyway, it's a long read, but I was hoping someone knew how to reset the default.
I have tried:
- removing/recreating the shortcut
- changing my default email method in email accounts
- changing contact detailsm addresses, etc
Any help?
I am not sure if I am understanding your question(s) exactly correct. Try these and see if it helps.
Answer to your first question.
1. Click on contact shortcut.
2. Select "contacts" icon.
3. Press "menu" button to bring up options
4. select "Mark as default"
From here you can select all the default contact numbers, emails and addresses.
If I understood your last question, this should help.
1. Launch email app.
2. Long click on account you want to make default.
3. Scroll down and select "account settings"
4. There should be a selection (4th one down) for "Default Account". Check the radio button.
The default account should not be switched to the currently selected email account.

Okay, this will set the default for that contact, but I guess what I am missing is the Gmail icon in the list of contact options when I click on the shortcut.
I want to send from my Gmail account to this contact rather than from corporate, but there doesn't seem to be a way to make Gmail my default...
This has me thinking now... maybe I need to drop and recreate the contact in google contacts and remove from my corporate contacts.

So you want to add an extra menu item for gmail in the shortcut drop down menu?
Not sure how you would do this but I think it's a good idea.

I overcame this by adding my gmail as an account for the email manger instead of using the gmail specific application that comes with android. Now when I launch the email app I get a list of 3 accounts (gmail, hotmail, corporate). The currently default account has a check next to it. I have mine on gmail during the weekend and corporate during the week (Tasker FTW). The downside to this is that gmail seems to run a bit slower at times (few seconds) when syncing but not enough to make me change it back. I like having all the accounts in one place with the same management and notifications.

...just read the post again...I think i get it!
You want your default outgoing account to be based on the specific contact?
As in:
You email Joe Smith with gmail by default and Jane Andrews with corporate by default without making changes to account settings.

[Q] Android's Giant Contact Mess - PLEASE HELP ME

So, this is my dilemma.
1. I have a SIM Card. It has contacts on it. Android automatically recognizes them.
2. I have my contacts saved to Google. Android also automatically recognizes them.
If I go to enter in a name to send a text, it brings a pull-down menu, with duplicates of everyone. One is for SIM, and one is for Google Contacts.
The Contact list IS slow with Google instead of it being saved directly to my phone. I want to save them directly to my phone. If I do so, the "send a text to" list triples, so each name appears three times.
The contact list, I can exclude everything but phone contacts. Is this something I can do in Messaging? Should I give up on Messaging and its many issues and move to Handcent and deal with its own issues?
I check before I go to bed and it is bumped off the main page?? Where are the people who can help at XDA anymore? It seems every topic I post gets pushed away
So... anyone?
Check ur pm

Merge Google contacts then uncheck Google backup. Then make sure there's only one of each, then save to ur phone.worked for me!

Why don't you just go to your contacts page from Gmail on your PC, sort them all out how you want them and then let them automatically sync to your phone?

this is the easiest method!
Go into your contacts, for every contact that has a duplicate, do this:
1. Press Menu Button and select "Edit Contact"
2. When in the edit contact area, press the menu button again
3. Select "Join" and pick the associated duplicate contact.
This worked great for me with all my duplicate Facebook and Google contacts.
Hope that helps.

I exported my phone contacts to the sd card and imported the .vcf file that generated in http://google.com/contacts.
You can also long press a single contact, choose "send contact as vCard", mail it to yourself, and then select "import to contacts" in gmail if you're on a desktop pc, or alternatively you can open it in the mail app on your phone, select contact type "google" and save.
If there's an easier way to do this, I'd be glad too hear of it.
Edit: when you enter a new contact on your phone there's a dropdown box at the top that lets you select Google, SIM or phone as the contact type (the default being "phone"). Select google and it'll automatically be added to google contacts.
Edit 2: There's also a "send contacts" option in the People app menu that allows you to send multiple contacts at once.

I entered a new contact as a google contact, then saved it. After that, I went to google voice and check the contact, I didn't see the contact I just added.
That's why I asked how to sync manually since it doesn't sync automatically after adding a new contact.

[Q] How to disable sync contacts to gmail?

In previous android phones I could easily disable contacts sync to Gmail, leaving them only on phone.
But now in Nexus 5 I don't see such option to remove check in "contacts" check box.
Everything syncs by default.
Maybe it's now hidden somewhere else?
Or google did remove this option?

It's there - stock 4.4 rom. Go to Settings > Accounts & Sync > Manage Accounts - and find your gmail account, tap it and sub-menu open, you can uncheck contacts, photo, drive, music, etc. (same is my older HTC running Gingerbread)

Thank You for your tip
Oddly I didn't find option to turn it off there, but I did find it here in Nexus 5:
Settings -> Storage -> Apps -> Google Contacts Sync disable this application to prevent synching People with Google Contacts.
Problem solved

Only display contacts with numbers

Can someone show me how to only display contacts with numbers? It was really easy to do it on the M7 that I came from, but I don't see the option on the opo. I tried looking at all the menus on the phone and tried searching on the forums but could not find a solution. Any help would be appreciated.

For now, what i do is select edit for a contact with a phone number. Scroll down to the "group" field. Add a new field and name it "my phone", for example. Select that group for your contact.
Then go back out to your list of contacts, in settings select "Contacts to display", select customize, select the drop down menu from your gmail acc, then only check the group named "my phone" box. If you go back to your contacts list, you will see only that contact. Now, the tedious part is to go into all your contacts that has a number and putting them into that "my phone" group.
Dispaly only phone contacts in one plus one
Hi,
Go to contacts, then go to "Contacts on Display" then go to customize ..... click the drop down of gmail account where you can deselect the contacts .
with this you can only see phone contacts when you open the the contacts app.
Hope this helps you guys.

It kinda did. But for some reason I need some of those contacts. It is weird that Android doesn't have a natural way of joining same contacts together. I used an App for it once, but that made a mess.
