Do you guys get the overscroll effect (orange flash either top or bottom) in the home overview? What I mean by home overview is the button beside the call and web browser that shows all the applications. Im not sure if I'm just OCD or it's not suppose to work there, but just wanted to check.
EDIT: Nvm, found out that it isn't suppose to.

i got a question idk if it's a feature of ICS but i randomly raped my screen with my fingers and some weird blue box came out titled ''Wi Fi'' and a list with all the nearby networks over the home screen, the only clue i have its that the notification bar went down and then the menu poped out.
i been looking again for this menu but can't seem to reach it, it's not like going through settings>wi-fi
is there a guide of all android ''hidden'' features or shortcuts stuff that normal people would never see on their phones? or im just an android noob
thnx

Sounds like you pulled down the notification menu and long pressed the wifi toggle

Watching an html5 video in full screen on chrome beta seems to trigger it. it also appears out of the blue sometimes.
Screenshots attached. Its that faint circle on upper left hand corner.
I also get this, but i get it whenever I'm reading an article in pocket, and sometimes the whole status bar dims and some of the icons disappear until I pull it down. Are you on sense jellybean?
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
i've been wondering the same thing.
Yes. stock rooted jelly bean, so im sure its not a mod.
been trying to figure this out as well,
curious are you guys using google now by any chance?
im on cm10.1 and i get that same thing every so often im beginning to think its google now or something since i always use it for weather. but i could be wrong.
I may have solved the mystery. I pushed the SystemUI.apk file to my computer to analyze it and that icon is called ic_sysbar_lights_out_dot_small.jpg .
This is supposed to be shown on devices with soft navigation buttons like the Galaxy Nexus when in "Lights out" mode to replace the back, home and task switcher buttons with faint circles so you can ,say, watch a movie in full screen and not be distracted by the buttons.
I have no idea why it's being shown in the notification area.. maybe Google added it as an additional visual cue in JB, and HTC didn't bother to remove it?
Anyway, I'm pretty confident that's what it is.
Being a G2X user and experimenting with various custom ROMS; most of us are all to familiar with the so called SOD (Sleep of Death), AKA: BSOD (Black Sleep of Death) or (Black Screen of Death).
Regardless of what we choose to call it...
IT SUCKS.
We want Performance, Reliability, & acceptable Battery Life.
Having a Frozen or Locked-Up G2X(Phone)... JUST PLAIN SUCKS.
So to pay respect to the unpleasant/familiar SOD condition, I've decided to have fun with it.
I would like to introduce to you, what I call...
The: BSOL (Black Screen of Life).
I know a few of you were probably thinking (Bull SH!T Outta Luck) Lol
Anyways Here's the concept...
By stacking some of my favorite applications together & theming them.
I've attained a rather pleasant setup that seems to compliment the G2X's lack of RAM & other quirks and various limitations.
Here's the setup and why.
Feel free to use some or all of my settings. (Some will be based on Personal preference.)
My G2X screen loves to turn on as soon as there is a USB connection.
It's just annoying... this setup minimizes the impact.
Were going all Black... “How much more black could it be... None More Black!!!”
Let's start with the launcher.
-Lightning Launcher
I use it because it is light weight on resources, fast, stable, & highly configurable on my G2X.
Under: Customize Lightning> Current screen> Wallpaper & background>
I unchecked: Display the wallpaper & set Plain Color to... BLACK.
Then do the same for the App drawer.
Now over to the status Bar... cleaner is better so.
Remove the battery strength & all I show is: Data, Signal Bars, & Time.
We will load...
-T.E.A.M. Battery Bar for a Top Bar and change the Automatically Color Settings
I use: Green for Charging, Cyan Blue for Regular, Red for Full, Orange for Medium, & Red for low.
Oh I forgot to mention, I like Black therefore I like ICS themes, I use...
-Ice Cream Sandwich CM7 Theme
Lots of CM7 style ICS blue & black... Yum.
Anyways one of the best things about Lightning Launcher is the Drawer.
It can be infinitely Big, or infinitely small, I kinda use both.
You'll see later, but let me also state from a user standpoint I like Gesture swiping.
So we will set a swipe down to open the app drawer & a swipe up to show/hide the status Bar.
But better yet, Let me introduce some of you to...
-Sidebar Lite/Pro
Anyways by swiping from the edge of your screen, you can Always bring up your favorite apps.
Note: even from another application, without having to return to your launcher.
It's slick & once you try it, I doubt you'll ever want to go without it.
(Think of it similarly to the Ubuntu Mobile phone launcher)
Anyways back to the setup.
I'm right handed, so I set my Lightning Launcher's Swipe right to be:
-Fast Dialer
It's kinda Ugly by default, but once you go into settings & change TEXT=CyanBlue & Button/Backgrounds to Black it looks sick.
YES I too find the ads annoying (and wish the developer would release an ad free version) But...
It can be configured so: I can find & dial a contact in 2 clicks
Caveat: If you have so many contacts that start with the same letter you might have to scroll.
CONFUSION/CONFLICT & CLARIFICATION
Yes, BOTH Sidebar & Fast Dialer are configured to launch when swiping right
But... Swiping from the left edge of your screen (AKA edge-swipe) differs from swiping right from anywhere else.
As I said, “I am Right Handed”... So far we have the following.
-Swiping up= Shows or Hides the status bar
-Top screen Edge-swipe down = Shows Notification bar
(Inside I have my favorite Power widgets & Yes they are CyanBlue too)
But I also changed the carrier name to custom, & Inserted: First & Last-name
(I know that my carrier is WIND but having my name personalizes it even further)
-Left screen Edge-swipe right = Sidebar ALWAYS does (Even from another application)
-Swipe right = Fast Dialer (and I can find contact & dial in 2 clicks)
-Swipe down = Launcher drawer (I typically have mine sized to see every icon I have)
I don't need to read them as I know them by icon but if you need to you can zoom in.
Note: it supports pinch zoom in & out, but by hitting your menu button & then selecting Zoom it will toggle between: Fit ALL & Normal Icon Size.
Oh I almost forgot here's one of my favorites, I use...
-Screen Off and Lock
Then after enabling it, I configure Lightning launcher so that when I double click on any blank Spot
-The screen turns off without having to reach for the power button.
In this case it's basically anywhere on the phone. This adds both convenience & prevents your power button from wearing out prematurely.
Almost done.
Under Tablet tweaks inside CyanogenMod tweaks, I disabled the lock-screen.
(Before you crucify me about how insecure this is... I know the risks, thank you for your concern).
Why...???
After I Push the Power Button, the phone is ON. It's all black or if I kept the status bar displayed...
I can see the time & any new notifications... then I double tap & the screen turns off.
VOILA, VERY, Very Slick.
To Finish the Set-up I use...
-Small Call
Why...???
I hate when I'm doing something on my phone & the dialer snaps to the forefront and kicks me out of what I was doing. This incoming call is usually from someone I don't know or even want to talk to.
Small Call let's me continue what I'm doing & in a more subtle manner choose to accept or Ignore calls.
I have a semitransparent black box near the bottom of my screen where I can read texts & click to respond or ignore. You can even set a default decline action.
Clicking the RED X in the box will close the pop-up box yet leave the mail notification as un-read.
Perfect for an angry wife or girlfriend cause you can show them how you never even checked your message... LOL (Just kidding).
Anyways...
That's my setup, & I Like it... hope some or maybe all of these suggestions can improve your G2X.
Time for some screen shots...
Wish me Luck, as I've never posted any before.
Screen shots
Hope this works...
Lately my phone has been randomly be getting a glitch where the screen looks like its trying to scroll to another page (as if im scrolling through my home screen). Most noteabley is that the notification bar extends on and has orange text, also I should say it only glitches/slide to the right. I can recreate this event if I open snapchat and scroll over the friends tab. I believe it might have somthing to do with the notification bar though I have yet to find anyone with a fix. Does anyone have an idea what I could do?
Hello all,
I'm a relatively new OnePlus One owner and yesterday after I rebooted my phone, a new page showed up as part of my home screen pages. What was the first home screen page is now the second one and this new page took it's place.
Since I have no idea what it is, I'm attaching a screen shot for reference in hopes someone might be able to tell me. It's mostly blank with the text that says:
Get some extensions!
Looks like you don't have any installed
extensions. CM Home currently supports
DashClock extensions, so go get some and check
back here!"
Would anyone know where this suddenly came from and more importantly, how can I get rid of it? If I had wanted it there, I would have added it myself. Don't much appreciate a phone that doesn't respect user settings.
Thanks!
Tim
Nobody knows?
There must be some way of getting rid of this thing. It seems to have shown up after I updated to 38R. It's also mentioning something about Dash Clock. But since I don't have any app named Dash Clock installed, I have no way of uninstalling it.
Tired of these apps or themes, etc that just think it's fine to modify a user's settings and add whatever they want to a phone. I take the time to setup my phone for a reason. If I had wanted something changed or added, I'm perfectly capable of determining which apps I wish to have and where I wish to place associated folders, icons, widgets, etc.
Would be very appreciate if anyone could give me some advice how to get rid of that page.
Thank you!
It is part of the trebuchet launcher from cyanogen. You must have gone into the settings and turned on the CM Home search panel. Just go back into the launcher settings and change the search panel option to "off" and it should go away.

Thanks so much for the reply. I have looked already, but see nothing obvious listed in my Settings where I can find anything related to CM Home search panel. I have also searched for any apps that might be labeled as trebuchet, launcher, CM, etc. Would you mind telling me where exactly I can find such a setting as you mentioned?
Thank you again.

It is not in the phone settings it is on the home screen. Long press down on any part of the home wallpaper not covered by an icon or widget and you should see a menu bar pop up at the bottom with 3 icons for setting wallpaper, widgets and something else. There should be an up arrow near the top of the menu bar which when pressed will take you to the launcher settings, that is where you can change the options.
