Hey everyone, so I think this would be the right forum for this specific question. I used these steps:
http://source.android.com/source/initializing.html
So I'm not sure if the AOSP questions go here. Anyway, I just had a question. How do you know when the AOSP is done compiling? I had a few errors along the way that I fixed but I didn't see any "success, build complete" or anything. Just sort of stopped. Any specific lines that determine a successful build?
Thanks in advance
So I have spent the afternoon learning android development. I have modified a kernel and my learning mission is to compile and flash it successfully to my Motorola Xoom.
I have added a few features to try out. I've got as far as having it compiled to a zimage and my question is, how do I turn that into something I can flash in CWM?
Thanks for replies in advance.
Bump - Need some help as im stuck in progress at the moment.
EDIT - Solved by myself, for the people who stumble across this post and need answers I used this: https://github.com/bigrushdog/AnyKernel/tree/ Credits to bigrushdog
Whats up everyone? Ok so I am going to build a wingray rom and trying to figure out all the proper files. So far I have compiled two roms and they dont boot. but each time I realize im missing files. So I want to make sure that I have cloned all the right files just to get a vanilla cm10 build. I havent found any guides for the xoom to help me in this process. I can only find regular cm10 guides. and they are ok to help except when I get to the part where Im in the device and needing to sync the proprietary files there is no extract-files.sh file. SO with that I have been revieing gits and i think I have the right files but since this is my first time trying on thw wingray, I want to make sure I have them right. so here are the files that I have synced: first off the full cm10 git, then the android_device_moto_wingray, then the android_device_moto_common, and Im not using any other kernel just the stock cm one. Thats all I have. Am I missing something? its just the wingray, I dont need all the vrz file crap like the stingray. so am I missing files?
...... Really?......... Ok then.

If you really want to know more, you should hop on freenode and on the teameos channel or xoom channel. Most devs are seldom to check these threads, but they will help out on IRC.
I actually didn't think of that. Thanks

No worries, I don't have the correct answers as I don't build android roms. I recall one time when I wanted to build my own kernel for the XOOM, Solarnz helped me out quite a bit by telling me what environment I needed and the repositories. I'm also on those channels so you can come on and say hi =)
Cool. Will do.

Hi guys, I don't know if this is the right place, but I have a question.. I want to build my own version of a rom from a dev github (purity rom). I read some guides but things aren't clear for me.. Can you point me to the right direction? What software do I need and so on.. I saw some people using kitchen, some using architekt, some using Linux and some Windows so a little help is needed.. What I want to do is download the rom from github, change some things like wallpapers, sounds and some apps and then rebuild, no crazy stuff.. Thanks in advance for your help!

Hey guys, so I came across this ROM a while back and I thought that someone would of compiled it by now but they haven't. So I have decided I will give it a shot. I know basic things about building Rom's but not much. I have set up my Ubuntu build environment and I'm ready to go. But I need help in the steps to make this ROM. So if anyone could help out I would really appreciate it. Thanks for reading and hope some of the top devs can help out here.
