My wifi only xoom is getting random wifi "turning off" during the day which makes me have to reboot the whole device and some times it happens more then 2 times a day. I was just wondering if there was a way to fix this say without having the factory reset and rebooting all the time. I really don"t want to take it back because I just put a screen protector on it and that was a pain.
I have the same problem but I dont reboot the whole tablet, no, instead I turn airplane mode on then back off wait a few secs and wifi is working again...for the time being.
interesting i'll have to look into that when my xoom does it.
thanks
Try wifi enable in the market it keeps wifi from turning off

My Nexus S doesn't do this, but my Galaxy S i9000 does for some reason. I've not been able to figure it out yet.
My Nexus S as of just this morning is doing that, but a little differently. The screen will come on almost immediately after I turn the screen off. I am able to immediately turn it back off, but then again, it'll come right back on. I don't think it's a hardware/sticking button issue, because as long as the screen is on, the screen never goes off by itself either. Any ideas?
My Nexus S just starting do this same thing. Screen will not timeout and when I turn it off, it comes on immediately after. I have found that if the phone is plugged into my computer via usb the phone works as it is supposed to. Don't have any idea about what is causing this but its beginning to drive me crazy.
Using GB stock on G2X (my 3rd replacement) and its been pretty good so far. I was connected to wifi and wanted to toggle it off so I hit the button on power control and it got stuck turning off. In settings it said turning off and was no way to turn it back on. Bluetooth and radio was still able to be turned off and on.
I had to turn phone off and on to fix the issue.
Anybody else have this issue before? Never happened in Froyo for me and I have a feeling it might be an issue related to wifi calling.

After I did the OTA update to 2.3.4 on my Tmobile Sensation 4G, I cant seem to get the wifi to ever sleep. It stays on no matter where I am; next to a router, in my car, outside, at home...
Attached is an example of a typical day's usage with some charging, because recently its been draining a lot quicker. I have tried restarting, turning wifi on/off, getting rid of all of the saved wifi networks and saving them again, changing the sleep policy, turning off the best performance wifi feature, pretty much everything. I have also attached todays usage thus far, notice that wifi calling is using battery even though i have it disabled.
I don't use wifi calling, and even though its off, sometimes it shows up under the the battery draining applications. Its not on though, I don't even know why its there.
Anyone else having this issue? Please advise.
Thanks
Wi-Fi Power Fix
First off, Settings>Wireless & networks>Wi-Fi Settings>Menu>Advanced>Wi-Fi sleep policy>Never when plugged in.
After any OTA the phone builds a current index and reorganizes the file system. This can take up to lets say just from personal experience anywhere from 2-8 days depending on how loaded your phone/sd card is. It is always good to plan ahead. Spare battery in pocket, charger at work/car/home. It may seem like I’m being lazy, but it’s more pragmatic than anything. The phone will truly get noticeably zippy at some point when you pick it up and you will remember this post. Have fun with your phone. It’s a great one.
Josh-
i dont really understand what you are talking about in the second part of your post after you mention the suggestion to turn that setting on. How could a setting take 8 days to go into effect? I have been using the phone for more than 2 weeks now with the new OTA.
How did You restart Your phone ? Using "Power off" from Power options ? Sensation doesn't seem to do a real power off in this case. After switching on it will start quite fast (~5s until asking for PIN).
So have You tried "Restart" from Power options or removing the battery ?

That fast rebooting is a feature called fast boot. I turned it off, and it actually restarts the phone and doesn't put into some "hibernation" mode.
So, yes I have done a full reboot as well as a battery pull before starting again.
Still the same problem ? If so, a factory reset may solve it, but You'll loose Your data.
If Your device is rooted You can create a Nandroid backup before and restore it afterwards, if it doesn't solve the problem.

I have the same problem after the upgrade as well.
Did the sleep policy suggestion work for you?
It should come of after about 10th mins but my battery is fine. Maybe u should root and see what happens.http://attachments.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=707292&d=1314908579

I've been seeing all praise about how fast the GPS locks. Mine doesn't lock very fast though, if I keep the WiFi off. It often takes about a minute or even few minutes to lock, even if I'm out in the open. If I turn on the WiFi it locks almost instantaneously, and locks at a GPS-ish accuracy, i.e., down to a few meters.
Does anybody have the same issue? Is it how it's supposed to be or I have a bad GPS chip?
I'm on Verizon running root66 with WiFi toggle. Note that when I say WiFi off I meant turning it off using the WiFi toggle. I don't think the stock WiFi toggle you access from the Settings page completely turns it off, since it'll still tell you if you are near a known WiFi network, it must be turning WiFi on whenever "needed".
I'm on Sprint. Just ran a test. With WiFi on or off indoors I lock within 5 seconds.
Mine has been that way since the day I had it. U may have a bad one.

anybody on Verizon has this issue, particularly when WiFi is turned off using the toggle in notification bar?
thanks.
With WiFi off, indoors (first floor in a 2-story house), I got a 10-foot lock in less than 30 sec from a cold start on a freshly reset phone (this morning)

OK. Then there's probably something wrong with my phone. I'll try revert back to 100% stock and get an exchange if it still has problem.
Yes, my gs3 is also like this. Normally takes a few minutes. Stock rooted but was the same way before root

I hope I'm posting this in the right section, sorry if I didn't.
I have an AT&T HTC Inspire 4g. It has been rooted and then unrooted but I don't think that is the problem. I have an otterbox defender series. I dropped my phone some months back and I've been having this problem every since.
My wifi and bluetooth do not work anymore. They did before I dropped the phone.
When I go to turn on wifi, it say's "turning on..." and about 15 seconds later it say's "Error". (Note that I am not scanning for wifi simply just turning it on.)
On the bluetooth problem. I go to turn it on and it simply says "turning on..." then about 15 seconds later it says "Turn on Bluetooth" again.
I'm thinking that it is a hardware problem but I didn't want to take the phone apart without checking with someone other than AT&T or HTC, because they want me to send it in to them, to see if anyone else has had any of these problems before and figured out a way to fix it software wise.
Thanks in advance for anyone that may be able to help.
Did you try repeating the battery door and sim cover?
