So i finally flashed clockwork on 2.2.1 kd1..I'm a bit confused which roms are compatible with my phone..since The vibrant and s4g have seperate sections..even though I thought they pretty much the same phone!...I have the galaxy s4g just wondering when it says vibrant rom does that mean is compatible with my S4 or it must be specifically saying galaxy s4g rom??..If so which are good for a fast, stable experience..also one that the GPS ACTUALLY works would be nice..thanks in advance!
In a unrelated question Im tempted to download fota fix app from market just wanted to know if its safe..I deleted some bloatware with titanium by just uninstalling..just wanted to know if it can have any bearing on that process
No vibrant roms will work. And the fota fix works.

Lol no roms yet. Kd1 or kc1 are your options. There both stock but you can do a little moding.

In the Dev section it looks like they are close to porting a vibrant rom but are still having a little trouble. ALMOST we just have to be patient. TEAM AERODKNG is working out the kinks as we post!!
thanks guys..I'm not a total noob i hack everything..i just been out the loop with android..the other day I was using rom manager I went to get a vibrant rom, downloaded and all..then it went it to the recovery good I had that stock 3e that clockwork didn't install..WOULD OF BEEN HARD BRICKED

Hello,
i recently installed froyo and i just rooted my phone, but im experiancing a lot of lag after the root. Ive been searching and i have been looking on the forums but what ive gotten so far is to Rom my phone to fix it.. a lot of people keep recommandign different roms saying cog, or vibrant hybrid, etc.. but as i was doing research for people who might have the same problem i saw that someone said something about a lagfix? idk whats a good rom how do i get this lagfix.i dont know if thats in the rom or not but some help would be really nice. any suggestoins or anything, ohh and i NEED to have tethering enabled so if anything takes it away please let me know.
thank you
Most of the popular roms on the development section have setirons kernel which adds a custom clock work mod recovery to your phone. With that kernel you can install a bunch of different lag fixes depending on what you prefer. I am running mikey's doc rom with the ext 4 lagfix. Check out his rom. All you need is clock work recovery since you're already rooted and on froyo.

you said you are running this one correct?http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=818030
Yeah thats the rom I am running. I even got hsupa to work but you don't have to do that of don't want to. Follow the instructions and you will be set. Remeber to back up all your data with titanium backup and take precaution when following the steps.
Fyi if you brick your phone I am not responsible. (Doubt you will though)
Have fun.

Note: official XXJVS 2.3.5 version of gingerbread was released for I9000 on September 11, 2011. CWM flashable deodexed version has been posted in the Vibrant forum (see link.) Candidate for porting to 4g? I've downloaded it and I'm looking at it...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1258224
Just an fyi for those that may be unaware. DO NOT FLASH THIS ON YOUR SGS4G!
Sent from my SGH-T959V using Tapatalk
no of course not, it has to be PORTED to 4g first. I figured everyone knew that you can't flash raw Vibrant roms to the 4g because we don't have an internal SD card. But someone has already taken care of the button mappings by porting it to Vibrant.
It's also an almost stock rom with no fancy additions, just gingerbread 2.3.5. Maybe Samsung will issue this for 4g soon but if not, a PORTED version might be a nice base for new custom roms.
I would never do such a thing, but reading through the brick threads, others have tried and will try to flash a non t959v ROM.

Yes i seen it happen to people thinking because they look the same they are the same..completely diffirent

Yeah and not just Vibrant roms either, if I remember right. This is just a heads up in case anyone wants to try to modify the rom or mine it for possible apps, or something.
I decompiled framework.jar and took a look at it, but here is the interesting problem about trying to port this rom. It's 2.3.5 gingerbread and we don't have a 2.3.5 kernel or modem for the 4g so we'd have to use a kernel and modem from gingerbread 2.3.4. So would that not work? I don't know. We haven't seen any gingerbread leaks from Samsung for a while and this rom was leaked for the I9000 on September 11th so do you suppose there may be a 2.3.5 rom coming out for the 4g?
I ported this using the gb kernels and got stuck on the boot animation screen. I'm going to probably work on it after I'm done with 2.3.5 miui port and release it.

Looks like Samsung beat us to it. I was wondering if they might. And I picked today to leave my phone at home.
Great news. Thanks for all the info

This might be a dumb question because I'm pretty sure there's a lot more to this but could take the AOSP version of ICS that came out a few days ago as use hellraiser to get it to work even if only kinda work? I'm more asking what if? Or if you took what they have already ported to the i9000 and then flashed hellraiser would that work? I have been reading on the galaxy s 1 and 2 ports and I would be excited to see it on my phone. I know some people got the sdk to work on the infuse a bit but that's not what I'm talking about. Thanks!

PROBABLY
but just until theres a successful build for sgs... but as stated by Linux Bozo the sgs port its at the same stage as he is on the Infuse ICS, as he said " just a proof that its possible but nothing really works"... or... something like that hahaha you can check his posts.
So probably we will have to wait for a successful build for the Sgs first and then mod it for our Infuse and that would be our best shot.
Weren't those off the sdk's tho? Does the AOSP make it easier?

That would be no on using hellraiser to run the i9000 port of ics ....totally different configuration...its more set up like cm7 ...that will be the best bet we have...been working on it myself ...adding galorec files moving files...modifying ...ect...I can get it to boot sometimes...and sometimes no....touchscreen wont work tho....so...if u try hellraiser...go ahead and have Odin pulled up with gtg unbrick loaded...lol

I have searched the threads and cannot find any cwm flashable stock Froyo roms. When I got my phone I immediately put gingerbread on it and I would like to have a cwm stock rom to try out. I have the Odin ones that are posted but I can't customize them the way that I want to. If anyone has a link for one or can point me in the right direction I would appreciate it.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using xda premium
Nope theres no cmw stock roms that i know.
Whats the difference in customization terms between cmw or Odin ones? You can also open the odin file with a zip manager and modify it within the original file. Also... if you mean in terms of framework or something like that you can do it within the phone.
Unless im wrong theres nothing "extra" you can do with a cwm file that you cant do with an Odin rom.
I figured that there was no cwm roms available. With having a cwm rom it is just a personal preference for me so that I can work on it on my computer, thats all.
Bionix has a cwm froyo rom ...its mostly stock...and infuse 1.6 also

I have tried the other froyo roms. I was just looking for full stock froyo rom though. I am really surprised that no one ever posted one. O well
Wevas devs are concentrating on gingerbread and ICS
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using xda premium
Ya, I understand that. If you read the original question that I posted, I asked if anyone knows where I can get a cwm stock froyo rom. I did not ask anyone to make one. I completely understand that there isnt one. I am fine with that. If you were really concentrating on gingerbread and ics you shouldnt be in a thread that has to do with Froyo.

Ok, Im sorry if you've seen a million threads on this type of question.
I've done as much googling as I can and have just decided to ask this.
Has anyone tried to install a gingerbread that is said to be made for another Samsung phone on their Sidekick 4g? If so, any luck with that?
I have a 2.3.5 GB ROM downloaded, and I found an Odin for this SD4g. The only reason I havent done it is cause Im not risking with someone Else's phone.
Any insight, or even a yes or no would be helpful. Thank you.

Dang. Maybe I can see about some more research on this. If only it was my phone or id experiment since I got the stock firmware downloaded and ready for mishaps.
I thank you for you input.
Np I heard roms can be flashed in the android emulator??

Nope , it won't work and there's no 2.3.5 for the SK4G so it'll brick your phone it's just a fake but you could always try as we have the Reserrectar incase your phone brick's but that's just a option which would need work so i would say no , we would need a GB kernel which nobody has yet .
