i know when my phone is about to have a random reboot. i have noticed it will reboot when i dont have 4g 3g or 1x. just the bars showing. i dont know if this has been discovered but thats my experience with the GB radio leak.

FYI, this means that you have a voice connection but no data connection.

as per topic. i have both signals..
I have been getting it sometimes, I wasn't sure if it was CM7 or kernel bug. Either way it is a bug and I have seen several people talking about it in the threads for both CM7 nightlies and netarchy's kernel.
I get it as well on the stock ROM 2.3.3 so not related to CM7

I've never seen this before. When connecting to WiFi, the 3g icon usually disappears to show you your data is now going thru WiFi and not 3g. Note that the phone is still connected to 3g network for voice calls, but the data session has terminated and the icon is removed.
Not use why both would display. Has this always happened on the nexus s?
I get this as well. Im running cm 7 nightly 12 with netarchys 1.2.7 kernel
Very odd problem with this new full MR2, probably radio related. When i upgraded it obviously did the full wipe so I know it's not a software interfering. It's pretty much a fresh reset since 1pm.
Anyways i keep losing connectivity to 4g. it flickers to 4g, then 3g, then 1x. Then back to 4g for a second, then it just loses connectivity to the internet totally but shows full bars. Now i'm back at 1x.
I am sitting smack in the middle of NYC where there is always full 4g & 3g bars. Anyone else experiencing this problem? I've done numerous reboots, put my phone in/out of airplane mode, etc but i can't hold a 4g signal for the life of me. Didn't have this problem in the AM before i upgraded. It's now flickering between no internet connectivity and 1x as i type this. I wonder if this is network related or the new firmware?
I was having that issue before the updates (the first one) when I was in NYC. I honestly think it may be the 4g network. the way I solved it was putting my phone on CDMA(auto) and it just held 3g.
I was having that same issue running The Perfect Storm. I downgraded the radio and went back to BAMF Remix and have had NO 4G issues. Good connection, great speed, and it never loses the 4G connection.
4g has been fine for me running the MR2 radio with flyweight ROM. I'm in Florida though, not NY...

I am in NYC and had the same problem....
I even flashed the first Ginger radio and still had the same problem...
10 min ago I reloaded the MR2 radio and I am getting 4g now....
I am 99.999999% sure it was the VZ network!
EDIT::: just went back to 1x.....I am sure it is the VZ network...just have to wait ait out
Interesting...I thought I would try this update again this morning with a different ROM (Das BAMF 2.0 - 5) and have had no issues at all. 4G is constantly connected with no drops. I'm not sure if something happened with the initial install or if it was an issue with the ROM I was using it with. Anyway, all is good.
Try powering down..pull battery and LTE sim. Reinstall them and power up.

sorry to necro, but this is the first relevant thread i found in search
i am in a similar situation, before rooting (stock thunderbolt), i could exaggerate and say i didn't even know what the 3G icon looked like, constant 4GLTE uptime in washington, DC
i'm using INJ3CT3DTH3ORY (pardon me if i have stylized the name incorrectly) with an OVA MR2, and now i'm constantly 3G. i've tried every setting under "set preferred network." if i do LTE only, it'll show 4GLTE for maybe half a minute, and then fall into 1X. if i do CDMA + LTE/EvDo auto, it'll show 4GLTE for a similarly short amount of time, then fall into 3G. all the other settings deal with 3G only if i remember correctly, so i'm not even bothering to mention those.
thinking it might have been the radio, i tried flashing MR2.5 and MR.627, both giving me the same result.
any ideas?
edit: found this thread, seems to be related as well (showing some effort here) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1178285
I am not experiencing these problems with BAMF 1.86
Im in NYC area and have been stuck on 3G for two days now. Im not sure if has anything to do with the ROM I have installed or if it is network related.
4G working fine here in northern Jersey. On BAMF 3.0 RC2, MR "2.5" Radio.
Yes...4G spotty here in Los Angeles

Im in Northern NJ, running the same thing as you and I've been on 3G for days now. I even reflashed the radio this morning.
I can't get 4G at all in Houston right now. I only noticed it being unavailable today. (thought it was the mr2 radio I flashed but maybe not since others have problem too).
I've been having 4g issues since this morning. ZIP = 90024 (west LA)
3g works fine though.

been having 4G issues on and off for almost 2 weeks now in LA. phone gets stuck in 4G upload (upload arrow is constantly lit and no internet), even doing the airplane/wifi trick and reboots doesn't fix it, and drains the battery like hell.
Running Eaton Rom v1.5.1, MR2 radio.

Swapping SIM cards, rooted or not, doesn't matter.

i just took the sim card into the store. i told them i left my phone in my car because the battery is dead and it is charging. the guy kept insisting that i bring it in so he can make sure everything was working okay and i said, no its okay i know what i am doing and rather do it myself thank you. he swapped out the SIM.
Same here and now web videos are not loading either.

My battery has been dying so fast that I've switched over to 3G unless I need to download something quick or tether.
Same with my employee that's on my account, we're both constantly charging our phones if we leave it on 4G auto in the radio settings.

Funny though. I think, for some reason, the MR2 radio has to do with the 3G draining so quickly. I had the same issue while on 3G.

The stock radio dies in 3-5 hours on 4g, for me. Using CM7 with stock kernel I get incredible life with 3g, but 4g just eats it.
I'm noticing whenever I start a call the signal I am getting changes from 4G to HSPA+ or even sometimes edge, and then lasts that way for at most 2 minutes before going back to a good signal. Anyone else seeing this issue or have a fix?

Hmmm, I guess I always knew that, I just never noticed the signal display on my stock HOX doing the same thing. So I guess this probably isn't something I need to worry about then?
Gracias
First I want to say I am fairly new to this. I love this ROM! I am having an issue though, everything seems to work better than advertised accept the WiFi. The signal is weak and it will only work in 3g. I have the SGH-T959V the Galaxy S4G. I can connect to routers but it will not pick up 4G. I Flashed Heimdall one click GB then installed CM9. the wifi would connect at all so I trie a few other ROMs that were versions of CM9 but no luck. I went back to the orginal CM9 and the wifi would at least turn on! I was able to connect to a router at that point but still 3g only. Any help would be great!! I also tried to flash different modems but still the same.
There is no such thing as wifi 4g. Lol Either your are on wifi or you're not. 3g and 4g(h and h+ on cm based roms) are for the cell data network.
Lol, that is some mushroom trip.
Hit the thanks button if it helps. It's my motivator to be more helpful.

OK I agree sorry, my WiFi works but is weak and my cell network data is only coming in at 3g, It was at 4g before the Rom flash to CM9. Is there a reason it would not go back to 4G? Like I said it was fine before the flash.
Wifi has always been weak on our phones. The 3g/4g thing, the rom grabs 3g until it needs the data flow. Then, it would/should go to the 4g(h). Saves battery this way.

Thanks for the reply, I do alot of streaming because I commute for work and it is not switching, I have not had it go to H yet, my stream has been choppy at best. I am thinking of wiping the phone and going back to GB stock then re flash CM9, I tested a few flashes before I landed at CM9 finally.
