Email - Samsung Infuse 4G

When I setup my email with the email icon as well as with the gmail app, everything synced up nicely, but i have not been able to send or receive emails. Says "sending" and nothing happens and new emails do not come in. Also it seems to say unable to connect to server a lot in the email icon. Although i have almost a full wi-fi connection. Ideas? Thanks.

is the gmai just a typo? If not, try gmail.com
If yes, try to change the Connection to: "My Work Network" (or something similar)
best wishes and greetings from Germany
I have done all the things with mobile but no reply with incoming I think there some problem with port
I have used the gmail IMAP push found on this forum over wifi, it tends to fall over when the connection is lost but it does work and seems easy enough to configure. Just remember to allow IMAP access to your Gmail account.
The problem could be due to you not setting the email settings properly. Let me guide you how to do it.
But before you begin, go to you gmail settings >> Forwarding and POP/IMAP >> Enable POP for ALL MAIL
The following steps will be done on your phone:
1. Go to Start >> Messaging >> New E-Mail Account
2. Enter in your email address ([email protected])
3. Uncheck the option to receive e-mail settings automatically
4. Tap 'Next'
5. Type in whatever name you want .
6. Account name display can be whatever you wish
7. Tap 'Next'
8. Incoming mail server: pop.gmail.com:995
9. Account type: POP3
10. Tap 'Next'
11. The Username is the username that you use to login into Gmail and same for the password.
12. Check 'Save password'
13.Tap 'Next'
14. Outgoing SMTP server is smtp.gmail.com:465
15. Check 'outgoing server requires authenication'
16. Tap on 'Advanced Server Settings'
17. under Advanced Server Settings, check both SSL boxes adn network connection is set to 'The Internet'
18. Tap 'Next'
19. Select the delay between each sync and click on finish.
*Leave Domain blank*
There you go, that should make it work.

Activesync problems

So i used this hack to setup my gmail, hotmail an windjammercable mail in activesync so i could get push notifications for all my mail in one central app. Here is the problem, when i set the update schedule to push in offpeek time it causes my phone to continously do a data sync every 3 seconds non stop! Is there any setting that will get this working correctly?
Windjammercable mail uses google servers for their mail distribution.
If i set peak to push, an off peek to manuel, then changed peak to start at 8am an off peek to start at say 7am would that fix my problems? Or does peak an off peak require 12hrs gap between the two?

This is a bit of a hack.
From the forums I read while trying to resolve this problem I noticed it worked for some people and didn't work for others. I my experience with software, I've learnt that software is not really erratic. There's always a pattern.
After trying all sorts of combinations, I came up with a process which has worked for me 3 times. You can all try it out and let me know if it works for you.
The process involves pretending to setup a hotmail account using ActiveSync (which will fail) then changing the settings to that of a gmail account. I know it sounds bizarre but it worked for me 3 times. The steps are below.
Pretending to setup a hotmail account
1. Go to the Launcher screen
2. Tap on "Email" icon
3. Press Menu
4. Add account
5. Enter full Email address: [email protected] or [email protected]
6. Enter password
7. Tap Manual Setup
8. Choose Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync
9. Domain\Username: your full email address (example: [email protected] or [email protected]). DO NOT USE "\" in front of the email address. You are not in any Exchange server domain.
10. Your password is already filled in from Step 6, ignore it
11. Server: m.hotmail.com
12. Use Secure connection (SSL) - Yes
13. Accept all SSL Certificates - Yes
14. Tap Next
You should see a checking server settings message ... mine took around 3 seconds.
Account options window
Email Checking Frequency - Automatic (Push) [<- that is the whole reason you wanted this, right?]
Amount to sync - your choice
rest of the four option - totally your choice
Tap Next
Choose account color - your choice
Tap Next
Account Name: Hotmail or WLM (or whatever you want)
Tap Next
At this point you will get the error message "Failed to create the account. Please try again later."
This is expected as a result of a bug with the HTC mail app. Now, moving on to setup the actual email account we're going through all this for.
Setting up actual Gmail Account
Tap "Ok" and tap the "Back" button twice.
Change the email address to your gmail/googlemail address.
Change the server address to m.google.com, leave to domain blank and
Change the username to your full email address.
Of course you need to change the password as well.
Also make sure SSL is checked.
Hit the "Next" button twice and then enter and "Account Name" if you wish. Finally tap "Finish Setup".
DONE! Hopefully your account should be ready to go!
Give it a try and let me know how it goes.

[FIX] Get Your Hotmail Account Fully Working

Ive noticed many a member having issues being able to send out Hotmail emails.
Figured this out in about 5 minutes, hahaha.
I have since a few minutes ago and have been able to change some settings to fix it and get it fully functional.
Note I changed these via the E-Mail app K-9 but it should be the same for HTC Mail (Default) Email program within Android if you experiencing issues as well.
Tap Menu from within your inbox
> More
> Settings
> Account Settings
> Sending Mail
> Outgoing Server
Enter these exact settings at this screen:
SMTP Server
"smtp.live.com"
Security Type
"TLS (always)"
Port
"587"
Have Require sign-in checked
Authentication Type
"PLAIN"
Username
"Your credentials"
Password
"insert obvious here"
Hit Next, test it by sending yourself an email and thats it!! Enjoy
You can't imagine how thankful I'm for this. I've been struggling with this to the point of giving up. This worked like a charm.
You are so the man! Thanks! Huge help!
I'd been using TLS & port 587 however after rooting my Inspire I tried it as an Exchange setup. Before root I couldn't get the exchange to work & had read there were issues with Exchange, Hotmail (or live.com email), & the Inspire.
Its really odd. Now it seems to be working.
~Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync~
Email: [email protected] or [email protected] or [email protected]
Server Address: m.hotmail.com
SSL: Enabled
Username: [email protected] or [email protected] or [email protected]
Password: password
Domain: <blank>
Update - I woke up this AM and the sync using the exchange settings seems to be hosed. It's trying to sync every few seconds and the email notification keeps sounding. It's obnoxious to say the least!

[Q] Hotmail with Email App

Anyone get their hotmail account to sync up the their transformer email app? I didn't have any problems with any other email address just my 2 hotmail accounts
I've tried the POP
POP3 server - pop3.live.com
Port - 995 (you can also try 110)
Security type to - SSL
Touch Delete email from server if you want to change this option.
SMTP server - smtp.live.com
Port - 587 (you can also try 25)
Security type to - TLS
Require Sign in should be checked.
I can't get it to get verify incoming port, always fails on username password
Also I tried the Exchange Settings
Domain\Username: Clear out and put in your full hotmail address
Password: if not pre-filled, obviously put in your hotmail password
Server: m.hotmail.com
Check "Use Secure Connection (SSL)"
No luck on it either, doesn't seem to find the server.
Anyone find a method that works for hotmail?
Works fine for me for my msn email account, I dont remember doing anything special either.

is your account hotmail "plus"...the one you can pay so you can have POP service?
also if you had hotmail for a long time (i think is more than 3 years), hotmail will grandfather your account to included POP for free..
Yeah, its got pop support, I've had it syncing fine on my droid and my gtab, but can't get it to go with on the transformer for some reason.
I have just a normal '@hotmail.com' (not a plus account) account. It works fine with that. Seemed to detect all the settings for me automatically.
Thats whats weird, is just inputting my user name and password in the add email account, get the warning setup could not finish, cannont connect to server and lights up the manual button.
Tried both pop and exchange settings, neither connects. This is the first device I've had problems with this. Does the same thing for both of my accounts, getting frustrated.
Don't know if this will help you or not but I've just checked the settings on mine. In the incoming settings section, the server it checks is 'm.hotmail.com' and it's using a secure socket layer (SSL) connection. 'Accept all SSL certificates' is unchecked. Good luck.
I got this fixed. It ended up being my password. I use Keepass on my computer and for android so it just uses randomly generated passwords. They worked fine on everything else but not this. Was getting fed up with the username/password not correct warning went in and changed it to something simpler and it finally connected.
Then took a couple of tries to get a new password out of keepass that would work, but finally got it. My guess is it wasn't liking the length?? I don't know but I'm up and running now.

Yahoo mail stops working.

Yahoo mail works fine for a week than stops. Says it can't send. So I go back into the settings that I have not changed and it says that authentication failed on outgoing server. User name and password incorrect. Don't see how since I never changed it. So i put the correct one back in. Doesn't work. I delete email account. Enter same user/pass and ot works fine. Few days later same thing. I have tried this on pop and IMAP. And suggestions?

Same here. I didn't change anything but somehow it stopped working since yesterday.
This similar problem happened like 1 month ago and nobody seem could fix it.
The good thing was it came back to normal after a few days. It seemed Yahoo is the one having problem and it went back normal after they fixed their system.
I hope same thing is happening now.
UPDATE!! Now it works! here is how:
- I delete HTC Mail widget
- Try to reinstall widget and setup new account
- Widget said my Yahoo account is locked and I need to go to my computer to log in & unlock manually
- I tried to log in through my pc and my password was denied several times (Weird.. since it was ok yesterday)
- I chose option that My Password Is Not Working
- Reset my password and log in successfully thru my pc
- Go back to HTC Mail, setup with new account info..and VOILA...it works again.
this worked for me
From:
mobile.yahoo dotcom /mail/android (I'm not allowed to post links yet)
And I'm doing this to get to an sbcglobal.net account which is ATT which is for some unknown reason controlled by yahoo!. Note: these setting are different than the settings I need to use for my laptop. There its a POP3.
Good luck:
IMAP is another way you can get Yahoo! Mail on your phone. Using IMAP you can download messages with your mobile client, so you can access your mail even when not connected to the mobile Internet.
How to set up Yahoo! Mail with your mobile client using IMAP
1. On your phone, press < Home >, then open the Email application.
2. On the 'Your accounts' page, select Next to get started with setup.
3. Enter your full Yahoo! address and password, then select Next.
4. On the next screen, you can give the account a nickname and choose the name to display on your outgoing messages. Tap Done.
If prompted, supply the following information:
1. Incoming Server - imap.mail.yahoo.com
2. Outgoing Server - smtp.mail.yahoo.com
3. Incoming Port - 993 (requires SSL)
4. Outgoing Port - 465 (requires SSL)
5. Username: full email address ([email protected])
6. Password: is the password you login to Yahoo! with

I concur, I've been using similar IMAP settings for over 12 months that have never failed me yet, ..first on my desire and now on my sensation.
Similar to above suggested settings, with different ports.
Here's my trusty old settings for Yahoo mail....
Incoming settings
Protocol: IMAP
Enter your complete email address for user name, example: [email protected]
Enter password as normal.
IMAP server: imap-ssl.mail.yahoo.com
Security type: None
Server port: 143
Outgoing server settings
Enter your complete email address again for user name
Enter password as normal again.
SMTP server: smtp.mail.yahoo.com
Security type: None
server port: 587

Cheers
Try the Yahoo Mail app, it's pretty good and it's push.
