[Q] No recovery or rom, stuck in bootloop

I posted this before but it was dead so I'm reposting, sorry. I was in the process of rooting my brothers phone, I turned S-off and flashed updated firmware, however I forgot to flash a recovery. Now the phone is in a bootloop. I tried downloading 4ext recovery file PG58IMG to flash in bootloader. I added his cid number to the file but when I run bootloader it doesn't give me the option to install the file. The other method I was told to try involves using CMD to do it with the flashing tool. But since I can't start the phone, cmd doesn't recognize the device. Can somebody please help me? How can I install recovery on this device?

You could always go into fastboot manually and use the cmd prompt. Fastboot flash recovery **********.IMG I'm almost sure that's the proper command.

I tried doing that but nothing happened. cmd prompt said waiting for device but nothing happened. Do I have to have adb set up or what are the steps in order for me to do that?

this means you havent connected the phone properly to pc
the phone should show "fastboot usb" if connected to pc properly ..if it shows hboot and there is an option fastboot in the list . browse to fastboot using volume download ..then select fastboot using power ...then connect the device to pc ( at the end phone should show fastboot usb)
then try the command
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
(if you got PG58IMG.zip open it and copy the recovery.img to the folder where you got adb/fastboot )

I just rooted my phone last night. I tried to flash cynanogen 10 and forgot to back up the the stock rom. I haven't done this since my last phone. But I got stuck at the cynanogen bootloader screen. I tried to get back to recovery mode but it won"t go. Can someone please help me and give very detailed instructions to get my phone unbricked pleeeeease? I don"t want to to buy another phone. Thank you.

How long did u wait at boot logo screen first boot can take a while and did u flash boot. Img? Are u t mob?

All I know is that I downloaded the ROM from here, used CWM to flash it on, phone said update installed and rebooted the phone. I waited for an hour and it still did nothing past the bootload screen. Also, yes I'm t-mobile.

I have hboot 1.14

Can get ur phone into bootloader mode or fastboot...if yea...then u cn save ur phone...i faced the same problem some days back...and successfully recovered my phone and nw i am using energy rom...

Okay, let's try something.
Check your drivers on the PC, make sure you have ADB (from Android SDK or other sources).
Power on the phone, plug it in the PC.
Check if any drivers are installing/updating. Also check Device Manager to see if the device is seen in there.
If the PC sees the phone, open a cmd window and navigate to the directory where you have ADB (if using the android SDK, it should be in the tools folder of the installation directory).
In the cmd window, once in the directory containing the ADB, type "adb devices". You should see something about adb server stopping and starting, than, if everything alright, you should see the device as a number.
If you can see your phone, that means you're saved. Just run the command "adb reboot bootloader" and you're good to go.
If the phone cannot be seen by the PC, try and boot the phone holding vloume - pressed, try this with volume + too. Or simply google on how to boot the phone in bootloader mode.
Once in bootloader, again, you're saved. You can go ti fastboot usb mode and from there, do whatever you need to do.

Ok, I downloaded the sdk and my computer recognizes the phone, and I can get into recovery mode, I did a factory reset but it did nothing.

Can you give me more details? Where do you see that message and when exactly? Maybe an ADB logcat?
If you can get into fastboot usb, you can easily google for flashing solutions using fastboot.

I do that and my phone just keeps flickering and goes back in to cwm recovery. Please any ideas?

[Q] Error: device offline

Hello,
I have recently rooted and loaded the cm10.1 rom, and now, i'd like to load a different rom.
My problem, however, is that when using the all in one toolkit and RUUs all lead to the same error, that my device is offline.
I have:
Unplugged/replugged my USB
Rebooted both computer and phone
added new adb to the toolkit data folder
But to no avail.
In the bootloader menu, the toolkit will say
error:device not found isntead
How would I go about flashing a new rom when my stupid computer won't recognize the phone :'(

you should go learn something instead of using the all-in-one kit as you should know how to flash a rom if you have cm10.1 on it now.

No idea how or where to start

What does that mean exactly? You are in TWRP, you select the ROM zip, then what happens? Any error messages?

I believe he is trying to use the kit to flash the ROM?

Because I can't flash boot.img in recovery.
And I can't figure out anything on flashing these things without the toolkit

First of all, make sure you have both ADB and fastboot in your computer. Go to CMD, then cd to your adb directory, and try "adb devices". If it doesn't recognize the device, try with a different usb cable, or download adb again. If it does recognize the phone type in "adb reboot-bootloader", once the
phone boots into the bootloader, type in "fastboot devices", then "fastboot flash boot boot.img", last step "fastboot reboot". And you are done flashing the boot.img

[Q] Switching from CWM to TWRP: How to?

I am really confused since having to use ADB and flashboot. I am thoroughly confused that someone has not simply written step by step instructions for this in a sticky so newbies like myself can follow. With that in mind I am trying to change from CWM to TWRP. I have the files but completely oblivious on how to get things to work again. I go into a command propt and start adb or flashboot but cant seem to get it to find the device. Now I cannot find the instructions I used to install CWM. Can somoene kindly help with either a link or instructions to make this change so I can be good and flash some ROM's?

1) Power your phone off and once its off hold down power + volume down until its booted into HBOOT/Fastboot mode (bootloader).
2) Place your TWRP img file in the platform-tools folder where your adb/fastboot files are.
3) Shift + Right click inside of the platform-tools folder and open as a command prompt.
4) If you're not already, switch to fastboot mode and assure it says "Fastboot USB" or just fastboot at the top (don't remember if it says USB or not) and then in the command window type the following command and press enter: 'fastboot flash recovery name.img'. Replace "name" with the file name of your TWRP img.
5) It should say "successful" and then from there you can navigate to your new TWRP recovery via the bootloader by navigating with the volume keys and selecting the "Recovery" option by pressing the power button once its selected.

Really appreciate what you said but I am running into the issue in the command prompt. When I type the commands it says
error: device not found
I have rebooted both phone and computer but it never seems to find the device now and not sure what to do.
Do you have any suggestions on do I start adb and run any commands, SU, fastboot, or what? I know its working because the computer sees the devices by an external drive. The phone is able to go into fastboot on reboot as well. I just do not know where my dilemma is.

Do you have USB debugging enabled under developer options?

yes I do and as I said it sees the device as other storage.

I'd assume this means you haven't installed the proper drivers? Well actually I'm not really sure these even relate to the fastboot drivers BUT worth a shot to fix your problem!
Download HTC Sync Manager from here and install it and let it install the proper drivers for your M8 (with phone powered on of course) and once they are installed and it's done make 100% sure you UNINSTALL HTC Sync Manager after, only the program, not the drivers themselves.
After that re-attempt it and also as the other guy said, enable USB debugging all though I don't think it will do anything unless the phones booted into Android(may be wrong).
Also see if you can get ADB to work while the phone is running. Instructions for testing ADB would be turn the phone on, enable USB debugging and in the command prompt type

OK finally found the phone and flashed putting TWRP on it for recovery. Thank you very much. Using the ADB and FASTBOOT are things I guess I truly need to learn. So, with that I thank you and now I feel good about beginning my ROM flashing.

May I ask what you did to get it working? Was it the developer options? HTC Sync Manager drivers? something else?

I basically went in and did the adb devices. Once it seemed to see it I had to do the adb reboot bootloader then do the flashboot flash recovery twrp img. Now I have it working and about to flash santod's NuSense ROM since I used it on my thunderbolt that was recently replaced by this. Wish me luck LOL.

[Q] Stuck in boot loop, can't detect in ADB or fastboot

Hey guys, I really need some help here, I'm not good at any of this stuff - my OPO just randomly got stuck on a boot loop, I have never played with the USB debugging or any of that or tried to flash anything else, I was using just stock cyanogen.
I've been reading around and I've downloaded all the drivers but still can't detect the device when I do the Shift + Right Click --> Run CMD "fastboot devices" or "adb devices".
I never enabled options such as the USB debugging or anything else, can someone please help me out? I'm really clueless to all of this stuff.

You must first put your phone in fastboot mode.
To put your phone in fastboot mode, turn it off, and then hold power+volume down until you get a screen with only the cyanogenmod logo. If you get to this screen, you're in fastboot mode. If you have installed the proper drivers in your computer, you should be able to connect to the phone from your computer. Connect your usb cable to the phone and the computer, open a dos box and type "fastboot devices". If you get a series of letters and numbers then you're OK.

This, except that's the wrong button combo (power + volume down is for recovery). Use power + volume up to get to fastboot mode and then try the "fastboot devices" command.

Thanks for your advice. This is the big problem I'm having, I've downloaded the SDK slim, and the driver manager and the 15 second installer things and installed all of them but still can't manage to detect my phone on fastboot.

I'm using both
fastboot devices
adb devices
Fastboot devices comes back with nothing in the CMD box, ADB devices gives a message that says 'Devices:' but there are none listed.

There's no point in using adb commands in fastboot because only fastboot commands work. What drivers do you have installed?

I've looked around for all sorts of drivers, I have the universal ADB, android SDK slim or something, is there a specific one I need?

Uninstall whatever drivers you have installed, reboot your PC, install these drivers, reboot your PC, connect your phone, test fastboot (fastboot devices).

I managed to get it to work after resetting a bunch of the options, thanks so much for your help with this (even if I didn't get it to fastboot mode)

i am also facing the same problem that phone loops into fast boot mode whenever turned on i do totally every kind of drivers softwares and etc like tenorshare but all in vain i guess at last that phone must be enabled usb debuging in order to be detected as a active adb device,i pratically do this stuff by using another phone with enabled debuging and it was an active device andd can be processed further but when i disabled the usb debugging of same phone it was not working with adb interface i hope you understand,,,,but a miracle happenend i removed the battery for about a week and suddenly i pluged and try to turn it on hola it starts from roms boot logo

HELP!!!!! Stuck on bootloop and fastboot not working
i was flashing twrp on infinix s4 withfast boot. after flashing the device is stuck on bootloop. the recovery is not accessible (i press the key combo nothing happens) and fastboot combination is also not working. i tried connecting it with adb cmd and ran the command "adb reboot bootloader" but no device is detected.
