Okay, i cant root with SuperOneClick, its my computer. Its SUPER SLOW and CANNOT do anything without freezing. I installed the LG drivers in safe mode (because it would never install in regular) and decided to try to root in safe mode and when it freezes for a bit (at any point), in Task Manager, it says "Not Responding"
Ive unblocked the files and even ran it in admin and yet it still fails and YES, my SD is unmounted and i have USB Debugging on. Here is my system specs:

I heard some have used gingerbreak.. Cannot confirm.. But it's an apk you install then run.. Might be worth a shot..
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA Premium App
Look for a app called gingerbreak in the mkt I think. I had the same problem I figured it was cause I was using vista. If you can't find it email me from your phone and I can send you the apk. [email protected]

with those specs and it running super slow, i think you have bigger problems than root. that pc should be fast and smooth. forget about your phone and format that pc lol.
and this post would have been better placed here, as you didn't develop anything. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1039985
For starters you are posting in he wrong area plz read the rules. Also learn to use ADB. Mods plz move

I was stock ROM, S-OFF and rooted...Clicked yes to install OTA when prompted..Phone reset and then that came up and its doing nada...
Am I screwed? What should I do?
Can I do a battery pull? Am I bricked?
I pray someone helps me and doesn't flame. I know there are some good people in here still.
I appreciate any help I can get. Thanks.
You are not bricked you should be able to do a battery pull and boot up normally if that doesnt work since you are rooted get a tmobile 2.3.3 ruu and runn that..
I believe your mistake was doing the OTA WHILE being rooted. Good news is, is that most people here tried the same as you and all are fine now.
A beer would be nice, huh?
Matt
Thanks!
Doing battery pull now. Will update If any more problems.
It's not root that kills the process, it's the custom recovery.
I assume you have CWM Recovery?
You need the stock recovery to make the OTA work, hence you have to use the RUU to get it back. Instructions are here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1201773
After that, you can re-gain root by reading here:

All of my study is in the city so my tab could get stolen one day and at home i have a younger brother who loves to play with settings etc
Is the encyption worth the hassle?
Does it break anything?
Do i have to decrypt re-encrypt every boot is it slow?
I have never had this option before but it seems like a good idea i just want to know how it plays in real world use before i do it.

The problem with having an encrypted partition is that CWM at moment can't really do anything useful to those partitions. You cannot flash, backup, or restore via CWM. This means your ability to work with custom ROMs is effectively crippled. In fact, to undo the encryption (or if you forget your password), I had to nvflash back to stock. Factory reset via CWM cannot be done since, again, the partitions are still encrypted.
If in the future, CWM is able to access the partitions like the stock recovery can, then you'd be fine.

I wouldn't touch it for now. If/When CWM allows for it (possibly ICS, as I might guess that the closed nature of HC is limiting development around encryption support?) then maybe..
Thats a good point ae hopefully with icys than can also make abit more headway with the more advanced recoverys to
Never thought about that before thanks

Like many times before i used the one click odin root to root my phone. This time as soon as it started, it failed. Now my phone boots straight to this screen:
Odin Mode
Product name: SGHI727
Custom Binary Download : No
Current Binary: Samsung official
cell phone pic----------------------exclamtion triangle pic---------------------computer pic
Firmware upgrade encountered
as issue. Please select
recovery mode in kies and try again.
I used odin to try and flash again, i used one click flash, and I reinstalled all my drivers, checked my usb connection and even tried a different computer. I cannot restore my phone. I was on stock ginger bread but not sure which one.
I go into download mode manually, i slect up, and i get back to the same screen as on top w no result.
Help plz. $20.00 donation to who can help me crack this...i really need it fixed, thx.
I also tried to use klies. it didnt work. computer does read the phone as the yellow shows on odin. But everytime i try to flash something it starts, then fails.

Can you still transfer stuff over Odin, or is your computer not picking it up at all?
Also, are you using Desktops or Laptops to Odin?
This thread is epic. I would've reported it if there was a report button :-(

So I put together a 1-click root utility that supports rooting 2.2 and 2.3.4 up to the latest OTA.
The problem is that adb lists my device as offline (on 2.3.4 w/o OTA) but when I RUU to 2.2, it recognizes it as online even when the screen is off.
I've tried uninstalling drivers, reinstalling, multiple cables, and no luck.

Thanks, I got the root from 2.2 to work, but now I can't test to see if it works on 2.3.4 lol
Hope you get it working 100% . It will be nice to have.
No clue dude, :l
I know beggars can't be choosers, but It'd be nice to have this as a Linux tool as well

Well this is not really a "fix" more of a hack lol, but to get it to show up as device, I just turned on the flashlight and left it with that. Seems to work fine now, I just needed it for testing.
So now that its working, expect a new thread titled "1-click root" sometime tonight guys!
EDIT: God HTC drivers hate me...
Get er done .

This worked for like 5 minutes. Then not.
Did some more extensive digging on the interwebs, changed to an unbranded cable and bam. ADB works again.
Sorry for the false hopes yesterday guys, it should definitely be up by tomorrow afternoon :silly:
Hello. I just wanted to restore my nexus 5 and i used NRT for it. I pressed restore and after that it startet booting. Now the phone turned on and it wrote: optimalizing (starting apps) 2 of 2. After that it restarted again. I know i was stuck in bootlomp. My pc is not working properly and 90% of images i downloaded were corrupted. In flashing in hashcheck it wrote missmatch. There is photo that i dont know if it is ok but i will post it anyway.

Now i want you guys ask you. i have here a friends notebook but there is not installed the nexus 5 driver and in NRT it doesnt recognize my phone even in bootloader mode so i cant restore it. What can i do here? Can i do something with the drivers to be my phone conected with NRT? Or do you guys have any other better fix for it? Thanks a lot for tour replies!
There is a guide to how install the drivers in NRT. Idk where exactly. Just have look. As I remember it right it should work without have your N5 connected.

i tried it, but it didn´t work for me. NRT were not able to find my phone. Is there any other plan to fix this by any other app or something else?
Don't use a tool kit. Just flash the factory image using fastboot. See the general forum for the sticky on how to flash a factory image.
