Sorry for my dummy question.....
I'm trying to install / move to the SD card some apps i've installed from market.
I used app2sd, 2 or 3 different developer, but no way to move......i've not rooted my device.....
A friend of mine said he is able to move apps directly from settins, application manager, but the only "button" i have are stop pregram and remove...
How can i do it???
Honeycomb does not include any form of apps2sd and theres no way to do it.
you have 16GB for apps as well, so theres no reason for apps2SD.
...ok...thank u very much!!!
i'm new in android world...when i was searching for the tablets many people says they will wait 32gb version, so i think maybe more memory is necessary...or not???
i saw that apps are very small...and i hope they will be always small.
No problem for video, or music, storage because i'm using an external HD...

I'm getting my microsd in this week. I'm wondering how I set the phone to automagically install apps to the sd vs the phone's memory? and how do ya move current apps off of the phone to the sd.
Just curious why you want to do this. You have almost 1.5gb if space for apps on this phone. That is way more than I ever used for apps when I used apps to sd. I have 200 apps and don't come close.
But I guess you could see if darktremors app will support this phone or go old school and create symlinks.

I read a cpl of posts whereas people recommended this for better peformance, including battery life. hmmph.. idk. I read it a cpl of times so figured I'd ask.
i asked the same question in another form and this is the answer i got:
"It is a known issue w the g2x...atrix...and samsung s2....
The move2sd for apps is NOT the external sd but the internal....the primary default storage is the phones internal storage.....there is no way to fix this...
As for music...you must manually move files to the sd card on the computer BUT make sure uu are choosing the correct memory...when mounted to the computer it will mount both the internal and xd card...."

Has there been any announcement on the ability to install apps on the external media on the TF? It seems strange that this is possible for Android 2.2, but not 3.0.
I think this is mostly due to the fluid state of the partitions of the operating system in 3.0 On 2.x the /system and /data are set sizes so to free up some some space for more apps. On 3.x if more space is needed, it alloactes more space so app2sd is not needed
I guess in honeycomb you don't really need app2sd any more... you already have the whole 16gb available for apps
worthless microsd
i bought the 16gb version and a 32gb microsd card thinking it would be a cheaper way to have more storage. Instead it seems the external storage doesn't serve much of a purpose leaving me a little disappointed. I assumed Android was already supporting multiple storage locations but I guess that was removed in 3.0. Ideally I would love to be able to use Gallery to sync my picasa albums but if I did that I would end up with no free space on the main drive.
Gallery and most apps that came installed on the transformer have no problem scanning the microsd. Also more and more apps are letting you manually choose where you can have the information located (moboplayer, titanium backup). I hooked up a 1tb external drive with 600 Gb of music and movies and had no problem playing any of them. But boy did that suck the battery down quick.
I guess it depends on what your trying to do, if nothing else send an email to the developer and ask them if they could add support for additional locations
I know some custom ROMs for other tablets have offered optional methods for changing the mount points of internal and external storage. For example, setting the external card to mount at /sdcard and leaving internal storage for /Removable/microSD. I asked about this in dev forum last week but no takers.

With 3.0 google finally got smart. Apps are installed to your internal memory the same as everything else. So you have 16/32GB for apps and everything else, and then you have your SD card in addition to that.
So having all that internal memory makes Apps2SD useless.
You'll see froyo apps2sd in ice cream sandwich most likely for older devices most likely, but in honeycomb it's gone.
Wait what? So does this mean you cannot install apps you download from the market on the microsd?

No you cannot - though why would you need to? Unlike earlier versions of Android, you don't have a fixed partition size to install apps to, so A2SD is largely pointless (in my opinion anyway - your mileage may vary!).

With Gallery my issue is that I have all my photos online with Picasa, so I take advantage of the 'Offline' option to auto download some of my photos. The problem is I have no control over where these offline folders are stored, and it would be impossible for me to have all my photos available offline on the internal storage.
I am surprised at the lack of control over where I can store stuff, but I guess its better than not even having the option for external storage like IOS devices. Currently though it appears that I purchased a MicroSD card for nothing as it doesn't fit my needs.
Worst case scenario: if you have root, you could replace the directory Gallery uses for the Offline photos with a symlink to a directory on the (micro)SD Card. You might need to put a ".nomedia" file in that directory (to keep the media scanner from indexing those files and thinking they should /also/ be in the gallery), but it'll work long as you leave the sdcard in whenever Gallery is open.

(I'm Not having a go at the above poster).
Thats all well and good but if you use Googlemaps (Navigation) with the offline maps ala Htc Desire and others You can quickly use several gig of space.
add to that Copilot maps 2.5Gb or Aura 2.2Gb and that 16Gb dosn't seem so big, lol..
I bought a 32Gb SD Card for the Dock and now know that its a waste of time as you have to manually open any music or films as they dont appear in the Gallery etc.
I also bought a 32Gb Micro SD Card for the tablet which is where I want to put Downloads and the Gallery Also the Navigation Maps. But the apps wont see the data so again why have them.
So all in all extra storage appears to be a waste of time.
Hopefully some of the Guru's here can sort this out as Its crazy to have all this available space and not be able to use it.

Lordgodgeneral already answered this when you brought it up the first time, but it is simple to transfer any of your media files over to the SD card. Yes when you first download your pics they will be stored on internal memory, but you can manually move them over to the sd card and they will still be recognized by the transformer. I believe the stock file manager will work for this, but I personally use root explorer.

That has more to do with the app itself. If an app lets you set where it saves, it'll work.
It may be possible to have all the internal storage dedicated to apps (/data) and point /sdcard to the removable micro SD card with some fstab modifications. I'll try this tonight and see what happens.

Ithink its better to loose the games if somthing damages your internal storage. I have the 32 gb Transformer and thats more than enough for games. You can not play 30 games at the same time and if you bakup your game and gamedata you can uninstal a game and install it again if you whant to play it.
I dont understand why people always ask for intstall something on Micro SD card. Intrenal storage is much faster than a card.

I think I read that the way our tab combines the stuff that would normally go in the external memory with our internal memory is a honeycomb thing, if so does ics add the stuff that normally would go on the sd card to internal memory also? If not is there a chance that our tablets will be able to add stuff to the sd card like normal or is it hard wired in our tabs & changing the OS won't make a difference? is the 7.7 tab with ics also set up this way?
For example when we download stuff it would go on the real/external sd card or have the option to add apps to sd from settings menu? ...I'm sure I'm not alone when I say I feel cheated on memory cuz alot of the space that's being used should be on my sd card like music & pictures. Thankfully now I can copy stuff to my sd card thanks to the sd tweak I found here so I can at least manually add pictures to the sd card now without having to do it from the computer all the time. I think that's the dumbest set up they could have added on an Android.
Thank you to everyone for all of your contributions, it is really appreciated.

No, Samsung likes MTP.
You did the tweak, but did you understand what it was?
On honeycomb the apps that write to the external need a new permission. The older apps dont have it, so you got a error if you try.
I think it is very probable it stays on ICS.
But we never needed to connect to PC to do this transfer. The built in file browser has this permission.
When I had a P1000, I used a lot the feature of sending applications and games and its data files to my SD CARD with a single purpose: leave the internal 16Gb memory as free as possible for better perfomance.
Now I have a rooted P6200 and I only can use my SD CARD for storing music and videos because I have no option of MOVE TO SD CARD anymore.
I also tried some applications that MOVE TO SD CARD, but none of them work.
I called the SAMSUNG SUPPORT and they told me I should be able to move to SD, but I read somewhere that it's something about the way that Android 3 and 4 manage partitions... what makes me believe I will not be able.
So, I am confused.
Can I move applications to SD CARD or not?
Can I make a application store data on SD CARD? Example: MailDroid or a game that consumes a lot of the memory - I would prefer to store data on the SD card.
Does anybody have a hint for that?
Thank you!

There are some apps in the Google Play Market like app 2 sd or move to sd (something like that), you can try one of those.
Personally I have no experience on these apps since I still have plenty of space, but you can read a little the features and see if that works for you
Unfortunately, APP2SD does not work to me

Thank you for your suggestion, but when APP2SD starts, I receive this message:
Your device has no real primary external storage or primary storage is emulated
APP2SD will not support move 2 card.
I dont understand this message. I have the 16Gb internal memory plus a 32Gb SD card as s imple a s it can b e, but it is not moving to S D.
P lease someone help me how to solve it.
By the way, the 32Gb SD is fully recognized by the P6200. I can see all my files regularly.
Link2sd may work, but I don't think there would be any performance gain from moving the apps over.

From my point of view, rooting is something relatively easy, both to get and to lose: you just flash a zip from the default recovery. It does not even takes your flash count up. Basically, it's a single file that needs to be placed in "/system/bin/". If you need to send it to support, mount "system" as R/W and delete "su".
I could be wrong though, but you should really look into it. I think it is worth it.
By the way, I think you would have to partition your SD Card to use it with Link2SD...

I am not sure if this post is placed right. If not I hope that Moderator can move it to the right place...
I have just rooted my Galaxy Tab 2 7" (P3110 - Android 4.0.4) as I wanted to be able to use my external memory card for apps and not for music, films and photos only. I must say that I got a little bit dissapointed when I failed to get link2sd to work and started to google for som epossible solutions.
The most reasonable one I could come up with us that my tab2 have S-ON?
Is it possible to see it that's the case?
If so that it has S-ON, is there any way to make it S-OFF?
I am kind of new to Android and don't really know what to look for or if it's even possible on the p3110 to use the external memory card for apps. The interlan memory of 8gb, shared with the system, is kind of low (only 4gb left) and I can't even install apps like TomTom, various games etc on a clean system with the amout of memory I have available.
I have Googled and didn't find much of info regarding S-ON/OFF on the Galaxy Tab 2.
S-Off/S-On is only on HTC devices and not applicable to Samsung devices. As for using external memory for app storage rather than internal, you would need a changed kernel to swap them, or a start-up script that will switch where the two devices are mounted.

Ok. That explains why I couldn't find any help by googeling.
So one need either a kernel that swaps the mem card or a start-up script...? I will search for those options, unless you already know where to find suiteful info regarding this?
Is this also the only way to get link2sd to work with the p3110? ...maybe I am asking too much now but I recently bought my first Android device since an old phone with some 2.x version where I could move to mem card as I wanted, rooted it and really don't know where to go from here
