Hi guys,
Complete newbie do custom ROMS. After rooting and installing CyanogenMod7 yesterday, I'm having trouble installing certain apps from the Marketplace.
The fail to download.
Firefox 4, Google Earth, Maps, Angry Birds... to name but a few...
I've tried to unmount and remount the SD card and neither option works...
I realise I've probably posted this in the wrong forum, but could anyone guide me? Or a mod put my thread in the suitable forum?
I'm pretty stuck here without Google Maps. :S
Thanks in advance...
Did you flash the gapps package along with the CM7 ROM?
Yep, twice. In recovery mode, I selected the GAPPS update and applied. It said it was complete. I now have Gmail, Marketplace etc... but from within the marketplace, I can't install some apps. Including apps that I've purchased.
???
Do I need to start again?
If so, how do I start from total scratch?
Not really sure what else to say... I'm completely out of my depth...?

Hello.
Two weeks ago I was using CyanogenMOD 6.1 on my G1. I saw the .apk of the new Market Update and tryed to install it. I make a mess and loss my Android Market.
Tonight I upgraded to this ROM. After installing the ROM I didn't login with my Google account to test the ROM and the Market was there.
But after adding my Google Account and the phone finish the sync my Market was gone
What do you think that happened? And how can I solve this?
Thanks in advance.
This is not the section for a general question like that, please keep that in mind before you post.
If you want to get the market back, either install the new market APK or flash google apps again.
Reflashing the gapps solved it. Thanks
I think I might installed the wrong google apps package....
I did a fresh install of cm7...wiped everything from scratch. I installed the gapps-gb-20110828 but I am missing google navigation and google places. Can anyone tell me the correct one to install gapps to install?
Tmobile Nexus S.
Why don't you just download Maps from the market? It includes Navigation, Places and Latitude.
Greetz
thanks, didn't realize it wasn't on there.
i have another problem also. often when i try to download something from the market the app will just hang when it starts to download. any suggestions?
I had this issue when I first started up my NV rom but got it fixed by adding a temporarely secondary Google account, that kickstarted everything again.
This topic has about 7 good suggestions about the issue:

Phone: Xperia Ray
Rom: 4pdarepack ics
Kernel: from aire
I unlocked bootloader, after choose best rom for me bla bla bla
Reason why I did it, was em how to put it...it is pain in ass to read all these notifications lika Google will sen data about your browsing and location bla bla bla... So I chose 4pdarepack rom and kernel and smile was back on my face...till I wanted to set up my favorite app's...ok I need Google Play or android market app... but only way to get that is to install gapps package...wich is 40-80mb! I thinket...are you kidding me? I was so happy to se that rom takes only 45mb, and now I need to install all garbage back?
I don't need anything from all that, only market. I have searched for many days, market alternatives, deleting apk from zip etc... so far seem that all people is flashing roms, wich is clear of that stuff and after install it back

so there are files that are in the gapps package to have google communicate efficiently. My best option for you is to delete the apks... and it looks like your aware of it, so how did that work for you? all you need is the vending.apk.
edit:
have you tried just installing the play/market apk?
veding or phonesky(in newest gapps) alone isn't working alone, seems there is another apk wich needed, if I install Google play store as normal apk, not with recovery, Store is quiting after few seconds...
I belive there is some services, framework and another apk's witch is needed to run store. But so far no success.
If I install all gapps from CW it ok...but again there if tons of stuff siting in Ram and Rom, wich I don't like.
p.s so far I found gaosp gapps light/ultra light, wich would be nice, if only it where not for Samsung Galaxy
hmm I know it needs market updater apk as well. but I have a light gapps package ive modded for you but I cant upload it since im at work with a super disabled pc. only hosting site that 'works' for me is dev-host... but I just tried uploading the 15mb file I have and the dam site froze my crappy work pc... ill try later when I get home if I remember. but I think the file I have will work for you. I can take screen shots and up them here so you can see what I have kept and copy that layout to see if that will work for you???
That would be great.
So, any news about that one?
I wonder why this isn't a mainstream issue?
I'd like to know he answer to your question.
My phone also closes Play Store when installed alone, without Gapps pack ever having seen my CM10.1
I'm not aware if installation will succeeed if i just go amok and delete some apks from GApps.
Please could anybody pack the least necessary framework/service with phonesky.apk?
Hi guys this issue has been in my wy for a while now but now ive decided to ask
. I run Aokp build 40 on my nexus s. I then install a gapps-ics2012*** file from goo.im and from a couple of other sites. Rom works beautifully as usual. But every single gapps i flashed after rom flash the install becomes successful, yet when i boot my phone the only gapps i c r google play, talk, and search. Nothing else. Please help me flash properly so ALL the gapps can show up (music, gmail, googlr plus, play books, maps etc.) Coz all i got now is google play and talk. I can dowbload them manually from play store but thats irritating n hacing a google phone is supposed to present u with pre installed gapps.
Thanks! Answer shall get thanks as usual; )
Nothing wrong here, that's how it's supposed to be. You always have to download Maps, Gmail etc via store. (They're not in the zip)
However, you can add them to the gapps-zip yourself: Download all the apps you need and then fetch the apk's from /data/app. Open the gapps-zip and there add them to /system/app. Next time you flash the zip, they'll be installed as sys-apps.
Only app this didn't work for me was Chrome, complained about something's missing. But since I don't use it anymore, I never cared to investigate.
Edit:
Should you make your own zip and there's an update of an app via store, the new apk will be placed in /data/app on your phone, overruling the one in /system. So to update the zip, get it, add it... Not exactly rocket science, right? ^^
Thanks alot!but i do think the jellybean roms will come with preinstalled gapps included in the roms?Like the GN jellybean rom ect
hi there, i got a problem where after i flashed gapps, after i reboot, an error appears saids ''unfortunately, setup wizard has stopped.''
can any please help me... sorry im still a newbie....
Do you mean when you have to touch the Android?
That can be fixed by touching the 4 corners of the screen!

yeah I think in jb all gapps are included
@bony we need more info, Rom and gapps version, things like that. Also, if the Rom wasn't properly signed, then gapps won't work.
Any app that is available in the market is not included in the zip.
That's the way it is and there is no issue.
Hello Everyone,
First time post. I scoured through numerous posts about the Play Store unable to find one related to mine. I will give as much detail as I can. Pretty simple if you are savy with rooting.
Phone: HTC Evo 4G
ROM Installed: MazWoz-Evo-B6 (Jellybean
GoogleApps Version: gapps-JB-20121124
Have attempted other ROMS and gapps versions. Just a few. But enough to know I must be missing a step or it is just broken and no one has it running :S. I have cleared all the cache, both the Play Store app cache and in Recovery mode Cache's. I just started into this Rooting last night. Very comfortable installing different ROMS. But why is the Play Store broken on each one? I have tried installing the ROM, Booting up, shutting down and than installing Gapps. Along with installing Gapps right after the Rom install. I clear everything for fresh install of both. It is getting me no where and the internet is full of all kinds of topics related to the Play Store. But nothing that fixes this issue.
I can not get connected to the Google Play Store. Using an existing google account to log in with, it never makes it into the store. But using this step does setup the email for the phone. Maybe that will help pinpoint an idea to you guru's. I hope someone can help.
Thanks!

first thing. ensure that your rom download and gapps download are both good downloads and not corrupt. even partially corrupt files can flash unless you used md5 checksums. But since each rom is having a problem... really looks like your gapps might be the problem...
thats something to check at least...

Android's play store is oddly configured. Depending on your rom's tweaks, a variety of things can cause playstore issues including: LCD Density (via /system/build.prop), ro.product.model= (via /system/build.prop), ro.product.manufacturer= (via /system/build.prop), and lastly the Google Play Database file.
Sorry I can't remember the location of this file, but basically on our phones there is a database file, I believe an SQL DB. If you have lots of problems, you can try to close google play, erase cache/data to the app, then rename the db file to **OriginalNameOfFile**.BAK
open google play, and it should be fixed
