Question about alarms - General Questions and Answers

Are there any alarms available around the web or in the market that will speak the time while the alarm is going off?

This was on the xda homepage a while back.
Might be of use.

Alarm Clock Plus is THE clock app to get. Does everything you could possibly want, including what you wanted. There is an option where you have to solve a math puzzle to turn the alarm off too, for those overly tempted to go back to sleep.
Seriously, check it out.

[App Idea] I'm Up, I'm Up

Throwing out an app idea that disables your next alarm without turning it off if you are awake before it goes off or complete the task before your phone reminds you... since the alarm is independent of the ringer volume you could just activate the app it cancels the alarm just that one time... I have no clue how to make an app so its up for grabs....
isnt that what the dismiss button is for?
Nice
If anything just make it a part of a custom Rom .
Can be cool if u wake up 10 min before the alarm go in the shower & not worrie about the alarm waking up everyone @ 5am

How would your phone that you are already up? For instance, I wake up early, I get up and go the shower without touching my phone. How does my phone know that im already in the shower? You would have to consciously pick up your phone to disable it...
I didn't say that .
Just hit the vol button would b nice I keep it on silent so it fits to most ppl needs & setups ;-)

Maybe have it only sound the alarm if the phone is face-down?
The speaker is up when you need it most. If you wake up early just check for messages and set it down face-up.. I bet tasker can do this..
Or it can be activated by moving your phone. I bet some dev can use the accelerometer or light sensor.
Don't mind that ghetto troll OP.

you could have an alarm that checks for the battery status. If plugged in, the alarm goes off. If unplugged, the alarm does not.

Supprised I cant find this for Android..had it with Apple

I'm looking for an app that will control on a per app basis if autorotate is on or not. I had a jail broken iPhone and was able to do this but no luck finding anything for Android.
Also I am looking for a solution where the screen doesn't turn off ever but simply dims to its lowest setting until touched again. Again something I had with apple.
Tasker may be able to do that for you.
Smart auto rotate $.99

that works great...ty.
One more, CyanogenMod has settings that has quiet hours that allow for manipulation of sound/led/screen based on time so it would turn off all when its night time automatically.
AutomateIt...... its free.

Timeriffic is great for that as well.

TuneIn Pro Issues on HOX

I didn't really have any issues with the free app but upgraded to pro after reading about people using TuneIn as their alarm clock wake up.
1. Has anyone set this up as their alarm and how?
2. Anyone notice the app drawing way more battery life. Also, now when I unplug the headphones when listening, it now continues to play through the phone speakers when it used to stop playing before.

Unfortunately this is one of those strange cases when id rather have the free app vs the paid. I have the paid tune in but dont use it because the car app only uses the lite or free version. What does pro give us, favorites?
Yeah, I think I'm just going to use the lite version.

I use the pro version for hours and hours everyday with very few issues. I use it with my Bluetooth headphones though, and I don't use the alarm feature.

Can't speak for battery usage (still running in my HOX) but just figured out the alarm setting - it's far from obvious!
When viewing a station full screen, swiping toggles through a carousel of pages: the options page with alarm & sleep timer is 2 swipes to the left. Just tested it and worked perfectly, though you'd need to leave a data connection on overnight or schedule it with something like Tasker. HTH

Security/Lockscreen App?

So I think my girlfriend has mad trust issues or something because I'm pretty sure she goes through my phone every night. I put a password on it and she freaked so I took it off. So my question is..
Is there an app that would sound an alarm if she didn't touch my phone right? Like if she just did the normal slide to unlock, is there a way I could change it to sound an alarm?

There are apps that will sound an alarm if someone picks up your phone.
Anti theft alarm by rubby would work well, just activate it lock and place quickly.

This won't sound an alarm but it will tell you what all went on while you were asleep

Wouldn't that just show her you have trust issues of your own?
Surely a better option is to use an app that locks only certain applications you would rather her not be able to access?

Emergency alerts sent to phone

Hey guys im getting a bunch of weird EMERGENCY ALERTS to my phone. The message sender "Sever Alerts" is highlighted in blue under messaging and a crazy alarm type ringtone sounds.
The text message reads: flash flood warning this area til 6 PM PDT. avoid flood areas. check local media. -nws
I have gotten 3 so far today and the weird thing is that theres blue skies all day in San Diego.
Anyone else experience this?
You have a weather app in installed.. either edit the alerts sent to your notifications from within the app or uninstall it.

In the stock messaging app, go to settings and scroll to the bottom. There's an option to disable emergency alerts.

Not sure why you would receive false emergency alerts, but I wouldn't disable it. Never know when there's a freak weather system out, I think thats a great concept that the local/national weather service to issue alerts via text messages.
I didn't mind when I got them.. It's not like you will receive them all the time but its good to be informed of severe weather in your area..

This. Found that out after almost getting fired when this went off in a meeting at work. I fiddled with it for almost 10 minutes until I found this.

First rule: Always toggle mute/vibrate when you don't want your phone interrupting..
Although, I can't help but laugh at what the expressions on everyone's faces in that room would've looked like with that unique alert going off.. LOL!!
