Hi everyone, i am new the root/unroot scene so please help me out; i've read some ways to unroot the nexus s but they involve flashing i think 2.3.2? If I use that method will my phone auto update to 2.3.4 quickly?
Also after I rooted my phone I created a nandroid backup of my 2.3.4 and i'm using MIUI; so if i restore to the backup can I then do a factory/hard reset and be unrooted again?
-Any help is appreciated and please give me advice on which is the easiest/safest way to unroot
-My phone model is GT-I9020T

restoring an unrooted back-up should work however I have not done that. With that said here is a great post with all the zips you would need to unroot.

If you have made a nandroid backup, restart ur phone in recovery by pressing volume up and power button n load back to stock ROM.
Use the unroot method posted here above or check videos over at theunlockr.net. they have got very decent how to unroot guide.

some noobish questions.
im stock 2.3.3 now.
and i was wondering.
how is the backup process for stock.
when cosing a custom kernel?
what is it that i need to backup?
and wanting a new kernel.also means rooting my nexus S
so do i have to put in a new boot loader?
or can it be done in just the recovery mode?
and will i lose my file's/apps or is there a save way of doing it without losing it.
i have zero experience with clock work and rooting nexus S.
i used to root my galaxy spica.but that was way easier(for me) than rooting nexus S.
id love to know what the nandroid backup process is and stuf.
because.ofc i want to go back to stock some day or when 2.4 is out.
PaulOBrien has created a "superboot" to root android 2.3.3. If you haven't unlocked your bootloader yet, when you do so *warning* your device including SD card will be wiped so backup any data you don't want to lose.
View Paul's thread on the process.

Hello everyone,
I have a motorola droid 2 global phone with Froyo version 2.2. I would like to install gingerbread, but an original version not a version "cooked."
I am new to this and I have some questions:
'I read that before installing a rom I should make a backup but I do not know how. If I perform this backup I can go back if I regret the gingerbread rom, or rom to install fails?. If you can give me a guide I'll be grateful.
'I need a special rom to my phone or it can be anyone?. If you can give me a link thank you.
-If I install the original gingerbread rom will have all the features or lose some?
-If the installation of the rom fails, I can restore my phone as it was before or I lose it?
In summary, I would like to help me install on my phone original gingerbread.
Thank you and excuse my ignorance on the subject and my bad English.
Greetings.

Try this link. Once you have read through and think you know what you are doing read it again. Buy and install titanium backup, this will only back up your apps and data for them. I believe the guide describes making a full system backup using clockwork recovery. Then you need to find the files for rooted gingerbread. If you are still unsure write back and i will help out if I can.

If you want a stock version with no modifications and no root goto this link and follow the instructions in the first post for "FULL STOCK VERSION"
It does require root or any mods to your phone to install.
I am thinking of rooting my note 10.1 (GT-N8010). I understand how to root it, since I have read through a few threads about that, but my question is about when, or IF, I'd want to return the software to stock. I have never done this before, so I need practically all help and tips regarding reversing the rooting.
1. What must I do BEFORE rooting the tablet?
2. After I have rooted it and installed a rom, How do I unroot the tablet and install stock android?
Again, I need all tips and please don't use abbreviations. Thank you

If you make a nandroid backup right after you install your custom recovery going back to stock is as easy as flashing the nandriod any time you want to go back.Alternatively, you could download the stock rom from http://www.sammobile.com and flash the md5 file in odin to get back to stock.Read up on this stuff in the 10.1 general and development forum threads because there is way too much information to type it all in this post. You will find everything you need to know in these threads including walk through videos.

If you have the d800 variant, it's very easy. You will need to backup everything you want to save because it will be wiped out during the process. You need to download and install the program from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2663369 I've used this tool a number of times to restore my phone and it works great. Just be sure that you follow the entire procedure exactly as given. Good luck! :good:
