cant wireless tether....I AM rooted - Droid 2 Global General

I can't seem to wireless tether my d2g' it keeps asking if I'm rooted, I know I am rooted becuz I flashed over to liberty 1.5 plus I have super user and root explorer, anyone know the problem???

I had that problem with my milestone XT720...
but it DOES work, with or without the error message (asking if your device is rooted)
so try it again ignoring the message.
a. Start tethering
b. "is your device rooted" <- ignore it
c. look for the signal in your other device(the one you are trying to use the data connection)
d. connect to your signal
e. it should work
if not, try re-rooting or reinstalling the app

it doesn't work I still get no signal, I've rerooted like 20 times, its very upsetting

[Q] No WiFi post-root issue

I finally understood how to root my Inspire to take it over to my pre-paid T-Mobile, but, now, I can't get to the internet via WiFi. I've tried my wifi, as well as other connections around me, with no luck. The only way I can get internet on my phone is if I use the passthrough option. I'm running the stock 2.2 OS with no ROMs. Have I done something wrong...?
Additional Info:
Forgot to mention that I used the ace-hack, Version 11A. Also, I can scan for wifi networks, and I can connect. I have a good signal, and I can login to my router and see the phone listed. The "Mobile network" setting has been disabled since I won't be using data with T-Mobile. I've turned on Airplane Mode and tried to get to the internet that way, and the same thing still happens; I can see the networks, and I can connect, but, I have no data coming in or going out.
Any luck? I just ran through the same version of ace hack 11 and I'm experiencing the same problem. I can connect to any wi-fi with an excellent signal, but can't connect to the internet.

No ): I ran through AceHack11A again for giggles, and, I still have the issue. I'm thinkin' I may have to install the stock AT&T radio, but, from what I understand of it, the radio has nothing to do with wifi.
I'll save you the trouble of installing the stock radio, already tried it. I was able to get things working though... here's basically my chronology of things:
- Did step one of the reverse CID, god the goldcard.img emailed to me, no problems
- Did step 2, downgraded. After the downgrade, I could still use wi-fi at this point without issue.
- Step 3... this is where the wifi internet issue was introduced.
- Connected to the internet with via my PC with USB cable.
- Ran the one of the programs that was installed in step 3: Rom Manager (while connected to the internet). It made me download and install Flash ClockworkMod (all done through the rom manager gui).
- I bought the full version of Rom Manager. I removed the free version that was installed, re-installed the updated free version, then bought the premium rom manager.
- Within ROM manager, clicked on Download ROM and downloaded the CyanogenMod rom (I went with the regular CyanogenMod, not the nightlies version). Installed it, and everything works great.
You can probably tell I'm a total newb to android, hence the annoyingly detailed description of what I did. Give it a go, maybe it will work for you?
same problem here, after root
update:
Ok, I fixed installing a stock ROM from this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1058042
Probably the problem has to be something with Rom Manager (is not present in the stock rom), I didn't check it anyway.
I have the same problem several days ago. I flashed the Revolution ROM, and it was resolved.

Hi, this is my first post on here. I searched the forums for this problem I just encountered that happened right after I plugged in my phone at work to get internet thru my PC using the data cable. At lunch time I went home and turned WiFi on and now it just keeps scanning and will not connect to my Wifi! It sees my WiFi which was working just fine since the day I brought it home. All this started because I wanted to try out using the data cable to get internet on my phone since my work doesn't have WiFi. I believe it has something to do with connecting thru the data cable pass-through connection. I am on stock ROM. I rooted the phone before but went back to stock ROM because it just seemed like too much maintenance for me at this time.
Does anyone know how I can fix this? Am I going to have to flash back to original ROM to fix this?
I searched some more on there and only found this other topic but since I'm not at home at I cannot confirm if changing it to charge only and restarting will fix the WiFi problem that I am having! I'll try this out later.

For anyone else having issues, please use this method.
NOTE: You DO NOT have to buy the full version of ROM Manager in order to fix the issue. The free version will work just fine.

What ROM are you running?

No Internet connection over wifi

Hey guys,
Today I've unlocked the bootloader on my HTC Desire S using HTCdev website, then I used SuperOneClick to root the device. Strangely when I press the volume-down and power buttons on the screen it says S-ON but when I try to run the SuperOneClick again it says that my device is already rooted. What's the difference between S-OFF and root access? Is there any?
But the real problem is that I don't have the Internet connection over wifi. It works on usb pass-through or mobile network. What's wrong?
I also installed CWM and using it I installed AGPS patch. I installed the the Google Specific build. I rebooted my phone and the Internet over wifi wasn't working. I just can't determine at which point it stopped working - after rooting the phone, after installing CWM or after installing the AGPS patch.
Then I realised that the patch I had installed wasn't the right one... So I installed the Google Specific CWM Flashable build. I thought it would help but no...
So what might be the problem? How can I fix this?
Thanks!
Could you help me, please?
I think that now I've messed up completely. I wanted to install a different radio on my HTC Desire S (from o2 UK) and now I don't have signal at all. Wifi connects to the hotspot but there is no connection. Damn it...
S-OFF means a unlocked bootloader. then you can flash 4Ext-Recovery which will bring you new ROMs to your phone.
rooted means only that you have root access to your exisiting ROM. The most of the ROMs are already rooted because some interesting apps like Titanium Backup, PDroid etc. only run on rooted devices.
to cut a long story short: try flashing REAPER rom, by which you can Turn GPS-Patches on an off by the in-built reaper tool.

[Q] previously rooted, now on VZ JB allows USB tether but not wifi hotspot?

I have unlimited data on Verizon, and when the 4.1.1 OTA first rolled out it blocked any tether/hotspot attempt by asking me to pay an additional $30 dollars to share the data.
So I flashed back to 4.0.4 and rooted, and used SQL Lite to edit the entitlement check to "0" before installing Voodoo and saving root. I updated back to 4.1.1 and lost my root somehow (probably because I didn't update the binaries or something?) but the entitlement check seems to have stayed.
However, my issue now is that I can't hotspot whatsoever as the phone tells me wifi hotspot is on, but none of my devices pick up the wifi signal. The only way I can get internet through my phone is if I use a USB tether, which is kind of a bummer since I would like to connect multiple devices in different locations. Can anyone figure out where I went wrong in the prior steps?

How did you flash back to 4.0.4? I wonder if you are still running the 4.1.1 kernel now. I think you may have to factory reset and use one of these procedures such as http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1970267 which flashes a fresh 4.0.4 where you can root and vodoo rootkeeper BEFORE upgrading to JB. I have wifi tether working on JB using the SQL Lite edit process.

[Q] APN's not working. PLEASE HELP

Hey everyone, thank you for reading this post. I recently purchased an AT&T z998 and I have a problem with the data connection. My carrier is Airvoice Wireless (it runs on AT&T networks). I had to factory reset my phone with a small google play problem and after that, the data connection would not work anymore. Everytime I open the browser, it would just give me a host error. I followed the instructions at airvoice.com to add the apn again and it would still not work after that. I am rooted running cwm. I used framaroot with the gandalf exploit. There is an option in cwm that says format carrier. I didn't want to risk anything so I didn't try that. I tried flashing a rom that was a simple tweaked version of the stock rom and it would not work even after adding the apn on that rom. I am really stumped and not sure what to do. If anybody has any advice or fixes, I would be grateful. Thank you again.
