I'm Noob too..I couldn't download those roms either because of the security settings on my pc.
Once I "lowered" the pc's security settings I had no problem downloading roms.
I had to go into internet security and change the downloads section.
Hope this helps you..sorry I can't answer your zipped roms on brick question.

This is a totally Noob question.
Can you clear data and cache on your phone and then try to Odin again?
Totally noob here but thinking maybe something in your data or cache is preventing odin from finishing.
Just a thought I have. Good luck!

If u can download to a USB drive(or whatever you prefer) from another pc and then use whatever file you get on your PC with odin. I would recommended whithawkx deodexed KD1 and flash through odin.

Ok. You have a slow pc..maybe your internet connection is timing out before download complete. I've actually gotten that message using xda app. "Sorry operation has timed out"
Do you have multiple windows connected while downloading? Possibly slowing your computer down.
Just a thought but try closing everything on your comp except what you need to download the rom.
This probably sounds stupid but I am Noob and trying to trouble shoot. Plus this suggestion can't hurt you to try.

I dont know if its multiuploads problem or what. no one else mirrors these files.
not sure if anyone in this forum can send me these files through zip and another file sharer? pls anyone?
but the help is appreciated guys
Other than trying a different pc I'm out of suggestions. Good luck hope u get things going again.

Need a little help.

Not sure if this is the correct fourm but since i didnt see a tech support forum figured this might be the most logical spot to put it.
My current device is a Samsung galaxy s 4g
Carrier T mobile
Rom
[ROM][CWM] T959VUVKD1 - Deodexed FIXED
Flashed with Odin3 v1.7
The issue i had is i wanted to install the bali kernel onto the phone i downloaded the 2.1 kernel from the forums non UV version but i don't know how to flash it. I tried to find it in the forums but i don't really see any clear directions how to flash it some say clockwork don't have it don't know how to install it. Sorry for my nubness. Then i did try to flash it using odin3 which soft bricked the phone phone computer with a little line going though it. Fixed that without much issue.
Id like Try out non stock kernels and i love what u guys do with the roms but i guess im a little stumped cause i don't know how to eather a find the missing apps i needed or how to flash it properly though odin3. If im totally off the mark im sorry and please forgive me again for my noobness.

OK your probably gonna here some $h1t for not searching but I'll Hook you up. OK you need to go to the cwm final post by krylon360. That will get you cwm. Once u have cwm setup you will boot into recovery and select reinstall packages, this puts you into cwm.
Know to flash the kernel go to "install zip from sdcard" and locate the zip( Bali kernel ) and confirm installation. Let it do its thing and BAM you have Bali kernel. HOPE THIS HELPS YA.
**edit**
To navigate in recovery and cwm use the volume keys to go up and down and power to select.

Guess im a little more stumped cause the first file i downloaded off the fourm post i found seemed to be a html file? IF that is correct then ok ill go from there and i assume once i stick the zip file on the root of the sd card reboot to recovery mode and install it? This is what i was more confused about then anything.

[RUU][DEVS ONLY][For Porting] HTC Pico [Sense 3.5][Android 2.3.5][Sense Zero]

Found this while searching around google. It's a leaked RUU for the HTC Pico "explorer" which is a light version of Sense 3.5 on android 2.3.5 or most commonly known as "sense zero". I thought I would post it up so that you'll can start porting over to the hero.
The Pico specs are rather similar to our phone so it shouldn't be to difficult for someone to port it over, it's also mdpi so no resizing will be necessary.
If you are already considering taking on this project then more than likely you already know how to setup a flashable rom from a ruu but in case you need some refreshing the following will help:
Instructions:
- dsixda kitchen will need to be installed prior to starting.
1. Run RUU and leave open
2. Type %TEMP% in your computers start menu search bar.
3. Search through the folders in there with the long names with numbers and letters, you'll find a zip file named "rom.zip" in there.
4. Place the rom.zip in the original_update folder located in the "kitchen" directory
5. From there follow the steps on the kitchen menu to setup the rom.
6. Then proceed to porting to the hero. :]
- Download Pico RUU
Credits to capychimp for posting the leak up.
I'll check it out

Also, just a heads up, this thing may be running a new kernel, so it might not boot on first port with any of the kernels currently available to us. Someone good with kernels should be able to help out if this is the case?
Good looking out Flash. I'm actually going to try this ( which is laughable) .this phone just goes to show that the HTC hero is still perfectly capable of keeping up with android even with sense UI. Thanks to the devs and good luck to all.

I'm actually in the process of getting one off of my employer, they lend out old refurbished phones they have in storage in case our personal phones need replacing or what not. I already submitted a report claiming my phone is having some problems, so hopefully by Tuesday I should have a hero again for a bit.
Most people go for some of the newer phones they have in stock but I asked for a hero specifically lol. They're really cool about trying to get you the phone you ask for and since no one asks for heros anymore I'm pretty sure they'll loan me one. =]
Thanks for the offer though griffin, if for some reason I don't get the phone I'll let you know to see if we can work something out.

Have you checked the log of the flash process? Maybe there's something going wrong with the installation.
Do the following:
1. Flash rom
2. Right after the rom flashes start up an adb shell
3. followed by: cat /tmp/recovery.log > /sdcard/recovery.log
This will copy the recovery log to your sdcard. Check it to see if there's anything wrong with the installation. If everything looks correct then more than likely it's the kernel. I unfortunately have no experience with kernels, maybe jaybob will see this and help out?
I knew it'd be soon.....

Help making a flashable zip from a twrp backup

So like the title says I would let you make it flashable zip from a twrp backup. Now before you all go crazy lol I have looked all over xda and I have followed every single guid I can find on doing it. Each time I do it it fails in TWRP when I try to flash it. Now I don't know if I am doing something wrong or what the deal is but for some reason it just will not boot it says fail every time I've tried with 7zip as well as WinRAR to make the zip and still nothing is there any kind of program or anything like that out there that can help me out can someone please point me in the right direction I definitely do not need my handheld just trying to figure this out and have been messing with it for the past 4 hours and getting pretty pissed off to be honest with you lol any help is appreciated thanks in advance.
