Just recieved my otg cable and it works well when I hook up my ntfs hard drive to it using ntf mount app. However, I cannot figure out how to mount my digital camera so I can transfer pictures over. I'm using timat kernel with USB mass storage enable. What exactly so I need to do? I have a cannon digital rebel xti and it supports PTP. I've tried all the different kernels, currently using timat Riptide edition

Same question....anyone?
On an unrooted Xoom the camera shows up in gallery app and you can transfer pictures from there. I assume the same when rooted.
However I have yet to figure out anyway to transfer videos from my camera.
Sent from my Xoom using XDA App
Hi, could I check whether the camera is mounted as a folder in the file system so that I can access photos on the camera using other apps?

I just received an OTG cable. I have a Canon camera and a stock 3.1 Xoom 3g.
When I connect them I can open the gallery and import images just fine. But, I don't see the videos that are on the camera at all.
Is there a way to import these videos?
I know that I can root, and then install a kernel with full USB access. But, short of that, is there any other way? I tried to use a file browser, but don't see the camera at all. Should it be mounted to the Xoom filesystem? I was not sure where to look, but it doesn't seem to be in /mnt.
Or is it just that the gallery app is able to "talk" to the USB, about images only, and isn't doing a mount?
In that case, is it an issue with the specific model of camera that I have, and it not being able to "talk" to the Xoom "about" videos? Only about images?
Thanks,

I would also like to know if there is a way to import videos from camera.
I'm having a similar problem to one I noticed in a different post, here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1987102 . I need to save HD video to an external storage device directly, as this guy wanted to do. However, every camera app I've tried, and ursafe media director doesn't recognize my usb otg hard drive as a location. the only way I can browse it is through file manager. Any suggestions? I have a Lenovo S-3000, takes 1080p video, and I want to be able to record directly to a thumb drive with it. Thanks in advance!

Has anybody attempted to use an external CD/DVD drive via an OTG cable with their OnePlus One for reading CD content such as pics? I have a need for viewing a CD but can't carry a laptop with me. A $20 external CD/DVD drive would be the perfect solution if I can see pictures on a disc though my One. Testing an external 250gb hard drive using an OTG cable works very well, even offering thumbnails of pics on the external drive.

I had tested this on my Nexus 7
Try out this paid app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.homeysoft.nexususb.importer
I'm sure this will work!

Yeah, I think I had to install something similar on my wife's Nexus for it to access the portable hard drive I mentioned. Although it seems to work connected my my ONE without any extra software other than ES File Explorer.
Hello,
I wish to play music from my USB drive (via an otg female USB to male microUSB adapter) on my N5. The problem is I can't find a (free) app which can browse the specific usb directory; they all just show the internal storage one. My friend's LG G4's default music player detects the songs and plays them just fine.
Any help is highly appreciated! Thanks!
dude, have you solved this? I want to ask the same thing
Es file explorer will do the job
Hey, I'm using StickMount for this. It mounts the USB Stick in the data partition so all apps can see and change its content. Its working perfectly for playing music with my music players (Shuttle, Poweramp) on my N5, give it a try

hey, so I try to use StickMount. The tost notification said that my USB has been mounted to /sdcard/usbstorage. I checked the folder with Root Explorer, the folder is there, but it's empty. in fact my USB mounted to mnt/media_rw, jut like the normal mounting without StickMount. any idea to make this work?
Hey, maybe its the filesystem of the stick, I can remind myself that at the beginning I had problems with it but it should work with NTFS. Otherwise I think you can ask chainfire, he will know what to do
