[Q] New to smart phones, but 2nd charge - Verizon Droid Charge

Hey all, so far cool site. So long story short, I bought the charge last Wed. Got it home and started to play with it. I'm no programmer or a computer guy, but I tend to learn quickly. The phone came with a 25 dollar gift card for the media hub (which is a joke, for another thread). I down loaded 2 movies via wifi. Neither move would play. Ended up, it would play any video file. Also, it wouldn't load some of the apps that came pre-installed. I took it back Sunday and the swapped it out. The new phone seems to work great. Really, I couldn't be happier. The one bug I have is with the 4g, but it isn’t the phone but more Verizon. I’m in Austin TX and apparently the sales person forgot to mention that Austin doesn’t have 4g yet, and wont for a few more weeks.
As for the phone, I do have a question. When I’m searching or loading a page I see that the arrows under the 3g disappear and is replaced with a D. At this point it stops loading the page. I’m guessing this means something like Disconnect? Usually it’ll only last for a few seconds and then the arrows come back and the page will load. Is this a signal issue or what? Is there anything I can do to speed things up? I have a buddy that is more advanced at this kind of thing and wants to jailbreak it. I’m not to sure I want to do that. If something happens and I need to take it in (I’ve got insurance on it) I don’t want Verizon to say they can’t help because I did something. So, besides that. I look forward to reading this forum, if I have any questions I’ll let you know.

[Q] Should I Flash? If So, Where to?

Hey All,
Pardon this fundamental query. Just looking for basic layman's counsel. I've had a Sprint TP2 for under 1 year; it's the best I can do on my $30 SERO plan without paying more for access to newer phones. I've been basically content, as I only use it for texting, email, GPS/Google Maps, light occasional web surfing, and music --> bluetooth FM transmitter --> car stereo (plus the rare actual phone call. I actually hate talking on the phone, but sometimes ya gotta just do some talkin'). I had the first TP before this, and I did flash it other ROMs, although I was never 100% convinced that there was much real improvement. I've noticed that the GPS is consistently inferior on the TP2 than it was on the original TP; it can never pinpoint my locale with any greater accuracy than within about 1/4mi, which is kinda ridiculous. The TP got me within a few hundred feet. I figure this is a hardware issue, though, as I've never found a .cab or app that can fix that on the TP2.
So, the TP2 can be a tad sluggish, sometimes a tad buggy, but it gets the job done. I recently took a trip to Florida (from CT) and my phone completely stopped working; froze up, lost track of time, couldn't get into SD card, couldn't get online -- nothing. Took it into Sprint and they wiped and reinstalled everything, now it's back to normal. I bought it used on eBay after all, and turned off the insurance within a few months, so I'm on my own; Sprint won't replace or do anything if I brick it or if anything else happens.
I'm about to get a 7" Android 2.2 tablet that I intend to use for web/games/GPS/movies, and will install a .cab on the TP2 that hopefully allows me to use it as a wifi hotspot. Other than that, I can't see much real need to do any tinkering, but there's this whole world of excitement around custom ROMs and Android, and so I have to ask -- is it mainly for techie satisfaction, or are there genuine gains to be made? Could my TP2 really be made into a better device even for my simple purposes? Would flashing make my GPS work better, my music sound better, my 3G or wifi web experience faster, or my general OS more stable while traveling? Will it make my device live longer?
I don't mean to question the very raison d'être of the culture that abounds on this and other sites. Just wondering if y'all think its necessary for a guy like me to go messing with this stuff.

[Q] Atrix 2 and ICS

Hello, Im hoping I can find someone who can help. I am into a Atrix for about 2 months now, It started off great and has turned into a nightmare. I am not getting any real help on Moto's Forum, actually Im getting Jacked around.
The Phone has started to lag badly, it loses touch abilities on the display it freezes or quits working, Apps are dissapearing, Moto says take it off the SD Card, the phone is acting like a Moto POS.
Moto is tight lipped about any patches or fixes, the Camera sucks it takes horrible pictures, and I cant get anywher with them or AT&T
What about ICS or Android 4, does anyone know the likelyhood hat Atrix 2 will get it and when if so.?
Someone said, trash the A2 get a Nexus LTE your troublles will be over, is that true? Why not just put ICS on the A2, it got a beautiful display
I hope some one can guide me with this mess, Motorola Is ot interested in helping people wit A2's, their busy with the Putzonic and Wayzor Droiddie, they forgot about us little fish.
What have you done to your A2 so far? There is also a sticky about ICS so yeah until ICS pushed to other phones you wouldn't hear anything. A2 is actually not a little fish ^_^ but yeah back to the question. What have you done to your A2? rooted? any adb push? I had disappearing apps to but realized I froze them lol well yeah an Indepth detail of the problem would help. this post sounds like a rant to me ^_^v

I got my A2 Nov 11 and have had 2 freezes. Nothing a battery pull couldn't revive though.

Several threads(not just on these forums) about apps disappearing if they are stored on the SD card. If you are putting your apps on the SD card, have you tried moving them to internal storage?
To clear up some of the questions: The Atrix2 I have is absolutely Motorola Stock, I have some 15 apps on it, no games,. No Root, No Nothing.
I went to load XDA on the Phone, it started to load, gave me the first page, and I tried to scroll down to a different page, it moved about a 1/2 page and got "Stuck" stayed that way for about 2 minutes and then began to operate normal.
Whats the big deal about saying the Phone will get ICS? Understandable it takes time to get it all prepared, but say something. They (Motorola User Forum) are blowing the A2 off on the Forum, Nothing has been said about patches or fixes, the phone isnt even listed on the Motorola Update Page- (MB865)
They finally acknowledged there is a issue with the SD Card and suggested we move all Apps off the SD Card- I did so, but there has been no dialog as to whats wrong and when a fix can be expected. Im tired of "Toilet Bowl Excuses" given from Motorola, and their Techs are a absolute Joke, their better equipped to pick Bananas from Coconut Trees,(Everything goes to the Phillipines) than offer solutions of help for the Atrix2.
I have no experience with rooting or such, and if you mention XDA "Anything" on the forum, youll get threats of "Banned from Forum" (A Bunch of BS), also honestly, I really dont want to lose my warranty, and they (Motorola) have made it very clear that if you Mod the Phone in any way, (Including AT&T) you will violate the warranty. I really dont want to lose the warranty on the phone.
As stated earlier make sure you have no apps on the SD card if you don't have any on it and are still having problems you might have a corrupted card. Try reformatting your SD card. As far as warranty goes AT&T warranty is jack now and you have a one year manufacturer warranty anyways. Also try a couple of battery pulls. I know it may sound crazy but sometimes they help. Do a search here if there have been problems we have narrowed a lot of them down and had some pretty good success helping others out as well.
Thank you, I have done that already, and the apps stopped "Dissapearing", I guess along with the myriad of other issues as well, and the lousey camera results, my real issue is, When and How does this all get fixed, patched or whatever.
I received a PM from a Experienced Forum User, who stated, that, "ICS Android 4.0 will cure all these problems" The Problem is, No One is saying anything at all. I understand that it takes alot of work and preparation to put a New OS like Android 4.0 on a phone like the Atrix 2, however, saying nothing and doing nothing, doesnt help at all.
I see no harm in a statement alluding to the fact, that Motorola is Acknowledging the Problems (Hypothetically)... and rather than waste resouces trying to fix these issues, with patches, they are trying to ready Android 4.0 for the A2- which will cure most if not all the issues.
I dont think thats a unreasonable expectation. I paid for a Fully Operational Smartphone, not a "Broken" smartphone, that partly works. (Not trying to be arrogant)
Camera FX zoom from the market will help the camera out a lot. I have seen a lot of people return their phones due to the problems the A2 is having and if I was having the problems as well I'm sure I would've been pissed as well. But fortunately I havnt had a lot if them. Yes the tight lips from motorola can be disappointing and discerning but NONE of the manufacturers have slated a timeframe at which their phones would be upgraded. They have only listed devices on the upgrade path. Will the A2 get ICS, I think so but the truth is no one knows right now. But with all that said AT&T has been better then any service provider at getting the updates to their phones then any other out there . Really we are just playing a waiting game as us everyone else. Hopefully you can get all your problem's solved as I'm sure you are frustrated.
I am very APPRECIATIVE to you for your help, Do you know what the "Red Cross" is, (Like on the Ambulance or Helicopters from Mash) ? Let me explain....
When I Power Cycle the Phone, when it initially starts to reload everything, there is a Icon that will show itself momentarily, its a Square Gray box, next to the Battery Icon with a Thick Red Cross in it. Usually uou get a small red ciircle with a slash in it.
I posted on the Forum, but no one was able to give a clear answer including the manager. The Moment you menntion XDA, the Dogs of War come out, (The Volunteer Moderators) and threaten you with Hanging you until you stop wiggling!
A normal person would welcome any sound help and solutions, as the bottom line is a Happy Customer... In my book you folks run circles around the Moto Forum. Why are they so afraid of you folks.? If anything, XDA poses a great help to their customers.
In response to your last post, I agree with you, but I also feel in earnest based on whats recently occured from all the other Manufacturers, the least they could say at this point is, the Atrix 2 will get ICS 4.0. There is also a horrible issue with "dropping of the Data Connection" that is absolutely terrible. when switching from Wifi to Network. You have Blue, white, white, Wifi, 4G, Network signal icons.... If im in the house and switch from Phone idle to email or Plume, it becomes white, white, white, and slowly will swith to Blue, Blue, Blue, and then white, Blue, Blue ( The Icons ). it is a problem also with Hotspots, it will fail to log in, yet on Power cycle, it will log in to Hotspot without a problem. The error is, Cannot determine eligibility for hotspots, please call customer service-
Thank you and Happy Holidays to you, family and all on XDA!
I can def help you on the grey box with the red cross in it. I see this a lot when I'm at work as well due to the buildings I'm in and out of . Once I'm out if the building though reception comes right back. Sounds to me like you are in an area with poor cell service. As far as locking in though my phone does search sometimes when I'm around my house as well but I live in a very rural area. We've just recently gotten 3G in my area. So I've been really happy with the boost in speeds. Hope this helps some and you have a Happy Holidays as well!
2 important steps for a badly behaving phone

This hasn't been brought up yet, and I feel these two steps are very important especially on a new phone with very little done to it. If you cannot nail down misbehavior to any app you have recently installed, then I would:
1. do a factory reset (settings -> privacy setttings -> factory data reset). This will restore your phone (but not your SD card unless you check that box) to whatever the rescue image on your phone provides. It should be the same as what was shipped on the phone, though there are those who believe the system shipped with the phone is not trustworthy and they *always* do a factory reset on a new phone before using it.
2. return the phone to an ATT store and describe the problems and the factory reset. If a factory reset doesn't fix it, nothing will. If they won't swap out the phone for you, then call customer service and ask for a warranty replacement. Android phones are full of sample defects (individual devices that have problems) that you shouldn't even attempt to accommodate.
the red cross thing right next to the battery bar is normal it just means it hasn't found a signal yet to connect to. This happens every time you reboot a phone in a low signal area.
Call your ATT rep make sure that on their end that your phone is configured for 4G because they had mine configured for 2g for some odd reason.
I believe the blue icon means its active connection while white means its not active. I rarely use my data plan but my wifi icon turns blue when im using it then it turns white to gray when im not using it.
About hot spots no idea on that one ^_^ never used it and will never use it. People can eavesdrop on those connections

Cellallure Miracle 6.0 S programming

Starting a thread about the Cellallure Miracle 6.0 S dual sim factory unlocked phone. There is so very little info from the manufacture and anywhere on the internet. These phones are great for the fact they are unlocked, support all bands, take two SIM cards, and are fully programmable. The problem is there is no real instructions or help for the phone. So I am asking for any and all info to program and use these phones. I have Metro PCS so I am looking for specific info on this, but I am hoping to have a complete guide for as many carriers as possible with these phones. Thanks!!! :good:
Was thinking of returning
It hasn't been that great of a phone for me. the dual sim thing never really worked and the screen is wanky. battery is so-so (I think 'cuz) I use an old Kyocera travel charger that's 350mA overnight. also doesn't stay connected to BT devices. as an added inconvenience, the sim cards and micro SD are stacked in such a way that you have to pull the battery and use an exacto knife or needle to get them out; there is no spring load on the SD so its really hard to get out from under the sim slots. I just checked here (XDA) to see if anyone had made the OS better. I might keep it if there's a chance it can be improved. I just turned off the screen lock and removed my google account. there was no option to remove the IMAP account and when I tried to remove the Opera mini account I received an error message saying this operation is not allowed by your administrator. OK check this out; heres the menu from a bootup whilst holding down the Vol- and power button ( with typical 1 sec release and repress of said power button):
Oh wait I need to have image hosting to do that huh? anyway it said Factory Mode: Auto Test, Manual Test, Item Test, Test Report, Debug Test, Clear eMMC, Version (which brought up a really cool page in neon green) and Reboot.
CellAllure Miracle 6.0 S = The best $32.98 I've spent in a long time.
After severely busting up the screen & then some on the POS Samsung (shouldn't be allowed to call itself a Galaxy) ON5 and tearing my ACL at the same time roughly 3 months ago I'd been in desperate need of a new phone. Hell, I've needed a new phone since about 5 minutes after I got that ON5, but that's neither here nor there.
I had, and still do, grandiose ideas of replacing the busted up screen on my nearly brand new Lumia 1520 but even I had to admit that taking on a project of that magnitude with that type of complexity was biting off more than I could chew. So needless to say I've suffered with low-end, sub-par mobile devices for longer than any relatively tech savvy and attractive blonde female ever should, but I didn't want to invest another penny into a crappy phone that I'll hate within 41 minutes of ownship, so I suffered for my cause patiently waiting for "The One" to present itself when the time was right. I was planning on a Nokia 6/8 or a Blackberry KeyOne, or even possibly splurging on The Essentials Phone, but then I ran across a deal while crusing the clearance inventories of a few of my favorite big box retailers for the CellAllure Miracle 6.0 that I couldn't pass up, even if I wanted to., plus it was an added bonus that I found said deal on my B-day weekend. SCORE!!
I picked up this amazingly quick, fluid and I'll even say lovely lil mobile device for the super low clearance price of only $32.98 at a Target store that was only 7 miles from my house. Granted, I have a Target on my backyard, but for whatever reason the Miracle 6.0 hadn't been marked down from full price ($129.98) yet even though they had 5-6 sitting on the rack. I found that price at only 4-5 stores, but others had it proved at $54.98, which is a steal for a phone this awesome.
My uncle had to have his iPhone 6 plus replaced once again because of the known flaw in the motherboard the same weekend and as has he's setting up his iPhone 6S Plus I'm happily setting up my Miracle & my uncle had to stop and look at my phone for a second. He did a double take. He was me again how much I paid for it and then shook his head while handling his overpriced Apple scam of the season when he realized that my phone was not only comparable to his, but better than the iPhone in many ways and I paid less than the going rate for a take for a tank of gas for my phone.
I'm beyond satisfied with it, but like you said, there is little to no information to be found online about the phone itself, any MODs for it, or even info on how to take a flipping screenshot with the damn thing, which is what I'm trying to do. I was hoping that I'd find more info here since you guys are my go-to source when I need a plethora of information asap about a mobile device. But if looks like you're just as lost as I am.
Hopefully we will be able to gather up enough info in the near future to compile compendium of knowledge,
tips, tricks, hacks, and the like for all users of the CellAllure Miracle 6 0 S to enjoy for years to come!!
Thanks for reading if you made it this far.
SS
SS - power + volume down or hold down the power until the reboot/shut down menu pops up. Last option is SS..
But hopefully you've figured some of this out by now lol
Cellallure miracle 6.0s battery fix

As for the programing its easy to connect to any network just call service provider give them your imei and that should get the call and text working buy if online is not working I'll post steps to fix that.
typing issues
Has anyone else noticed or experienced the difficulty typing on this phone? I will be typing and letters that I have typed just disappear.

How could this person be locating my devices?

I'm sure I'll get some haters, who think I am simply nuts but this is a REAL problem that I've got to solve.
For the last 6 years I've had a mysterious stalker and hacker, who renders most of my and my family's devices nonfunctional and breaks into my accounts and generally makes my life much harder. It has recently come to light that it isn't a hacker SINGULAR but at least 3 guys, hellbent on destroying me: my daughter's father, her uncle, who is a military hacker and their friend, who managed to ingratiate himself with me, until my daughter's father confessed, when I confronted him with evidence against him and his brother, saying he didn't mean for it to get this out of hand. Well, thanks for the heads up but it's a little late, because it IS this out of hand and the wheels of justice grind slowly.
Meanwhile, I am still hacked, even worse now, because his brother got out of the military and moved back to town and has a lot more time and access now. Calls and texts are being intercepted so frequently, that I now use Google Voice/Hangouts to communicate, knowing that nothing I say is ever private but at least people get my messages and I get their calls that way.
I'm looking for a job and I need a device that he won't be able to spy on, so I went to Best Buy and purchased a phone card and moderately priced android phone and took it home to resume my job hunt. I planned never to call any of my usual contacts with the phone but just use it for work stuff. Within hours, it was acting buggy and when I restarted it, it did not go to the regular black screen that says "your device is encrypted for security" but showed my regular background and said "please enter your password when starting android". On my note 8 and 9, that would often happen and when I went to security options, secure startup would be disabled. I checked and secure startup was still supposedly enabled. In ADB "adb shell getprop ro.crypto.state" returned "unencrypted".
I returned the phone and purchased a Google Pixel, hoping their physical security device MIGHT be more effective than Knox at protecting me from this guy. I purchased a brand new sim card and spent another 50 bucks on a phone card, from a different company.
Since my daughter's father has moved within a half-mile of me (despite having no contact with her and very little with me) 4 times now, I speculated that he was, perhaps, using a directional yagi antenna to scan my area for new device beacons and then (skip forward a few steps) find out what apps are installed on those devices, to determine if they are mine. With that in mind, I never even turned the Pixel on at my house.
That night, I took the phone to a random emergency room with secure wifi, to which I know the password and proceeded to set it up. I made a new google account, as usual and installed a bunch of random apps, such as black dating apps (since I am white, I figured that, if my theory was right, it might throw them off my scent) and games I would never play and apps for banks of which I am not a member. By the first time I restarted the phone, still at the emergency room, it had the exact same problem. It purported to be encrypted but (adb later verified) it was not. Apparently, the cheap phone faired slightly better than the pixel, in this department, because the first one was reencrypted upon reset, while the Pixel was not. I never activated or inserted a sim card in the pixel and while I had my regular phone and tablet along with me, they were powered off, in the car.
I was pretty sure, after the first phone was compromised, that I was onto something with my beacon frame theory but it would not explain what happened at the emergency room, unless there is a tracking device in my car, which IS likely, because I continually find my car torn up in all sorts of ways. They even broke off the panel on the driver's door with lock and window switches and the lid of my center console and I continually find the carpet pulled away from the trim. Then again, they also put something caustic in the wiper fluid tank, which destroyed both tank and windshield, so it could also have all been done simply out of malice.
Having no better ideas, I ran a bug detector over my car and found that there IS a radio signal being emitted from somewhere around the gearshift or cd player. I took apart the area around the gearshift and found nothing. In that department, the only remaining possibility is that they've actually put something inside of the cd player itself, the screen of which quit working a while back. I have the ribbon cable to fix it, so maybe I'll get lucky when I crack it open in a bit. The signal DOES appear strongest at the CD player but it could be anything, even catalytic converters can emit radio signals.
Assuming my bug theory is wrong, does anyone have any other idea of how these guys could have discovered and hacked those phones? I've got to find a way to evade these people or I'll never have anything like a normal life, until they're finally in jail.
Wow!
I have not heard of such hacks, even when it comes to national security.
What is the motive of these three people ?
I have no clue but with there skill in not sure an iphone would fare much better

What to do before turning device over to law enforcement?

A friend's daughter died a couple of years ago. At the time the death was ruled accidental overdose. Long story short, the police and coroner didn't investigate much of anything and what they did, was shoddy. The case was closed and friend was able to take possession of two of her daughters android phones, one was on network, other just used on wifi. Friend does not have any of the passwords and can't get into them.
Since then, new evidence was discovered that shows close to 100% she was murdered. The police however have refused to reopen the case. Friend has tried everything and recently started a Facebook group (#AnswersForMeagan) as a last resort. Group has taken off and much more info discovered. They are getting a lot of attention so today the Sheriff called my friend and they will be meeting soon.
That said, the sheriff didn't know of the two phones. Friend is obviously apprehensive about turning them over, afraid they could botch things up again, or even intentionally mess up the data (there are indeed bad folks corrupted by the money of trafficking and drugs). This is SC. Is anyone aware of a good place that can get into the phones and minimally save off a copy of the data? If you were doing this, what would your process be?
I used to root my android back in the gs3 days. Before that I actually had a palm Pre. I'm IT, I know my way around well, but I haven't fooled with things for several years. Worst case I can help the friend with the right process, but I'd rather a current professional do it.
Strange question and kind of way off topic, but I used to come here all the time and know someone will have advice. If you're interested, come join the group on fb.
Thanks,
Chuck
If on phone MTP mode is enabled and phone supports a USB-C connection then it should be possible to retrieve user-data stored on phone.
MTP functions a lot like USB mass storage. For example, an MTP device shows up in Windows Explorer so you can browse and transfer files.
