[Q] BP Panic ID 0x0008A58 - Milestone XT720 General

Hi,
I sold a phone to a buyer and he claimed that the phone is damaged with "BP Panic ID 0x0008A58" showing and the phone keep rebooting. I did not see this before.
The below link shows the phone rebooting with the error message.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J8Od9fMOGHk
Are there anyone who have encountered and solved this problem?
Does anyone have any idea what this is about?
Best regards,

try reflashing original rom with rsdlite

created threads together So this is precisely my problem. Reflash the original firmware no effect

try flash back with rsdlite with cincinati bell sbf..
don forget the volume down, camera button and power button (hold them until going into bootloader)
good luck

I have to reflash - Starhub, Russian, Korean and other sbf ...
may be due to broken bootloader? while I go and reflash it with normal

did u manage to get in the bootloader?
Sent from my Milestone XT720 using XDA App

in boot normally comes .. there are no problems .. but as seen in the video was an error occurs at startup android

My guess is this means the baseband software (phone modem) is crashing when it's trying to boot? (No clue why it would be called "BP", though). Is this a XT720 or XT701 or XT711? Google wasn't too helpful but I found this: http://code.google.com/p/cyanogenmod4milestone/issues/detail?id=22 that describes BP core dumps happening that seem related to using the phone features. I don't know how to determine if the problem is hardware or software.
Are you able to get into Motorola's recovery (just guessing that perhaps the modem isn't booted in that case)? Does the flashing happen then, too? Or in bootloader?

it can only guess so far .. Russia has very few service centers Motorola ... support service wrote that I took it to a service center

there is a version?
Why Motorola developers are not aware of such errors? Maybe it's guilt by Google, but I really doubt it

[Q] Motorola Defy rooting/firmware problem

I recently followed a guide on this site on how to debrand a Motorola Defy. I did all the steps exactly as stated, and found that the phone wouldn't load, and all it would do is show a white light when on charge.
After doing some searching, I found the solution was to flash a T-Mobile USA firmware onto the phone, and after trying this, it did work.
As I'm in the UK, this firmware isn't much good to me, and also I did not want branding. I have tried flashing other firmwares with mixed results - 2.1 just bought back the white light issue. 2.2 firmwares appear to be successful, however there are a lot of bugs which may or may not be the result of the previous firmware.
I cannot access any recovery menu (by powering on and pressing down), the phone does not mount the SD card, and it is impossible to perform a reset.
Does anyone know a way round this? I cannot think of any options myself.
Thanks in advance

Imei problem

Dear friends
I used lg updater but after that I lost the signal
When I checked *#06# it didn't show me the imei
When I go to about imei it show 0
I searched the problem on 3d I didn't found any one have this problem
But I found some 2x have it and they solve it by baseband flashing
So did any one have the same problem before and how dix you solve it ?
Thank you all

very similiar problem, imei empty, id not found.
is not detecting the sim card
and the only way to switch it up is with charger of the wall conected imposible to do with the usb
You should see the IMEI under Settings -> About Phone -> Status
Att flashed kz with lg update
I am having the same issues as you guys.. I flashed the KZ file with lg update software as explained in the XDA thread but I could not get the process to work right. My phone kept disconnecting at 28% and it would not turn on no matter what I did. It would only make a short vibrate as if it was turning on, and the computer would notice it but only for a short time. And never once did a light on the screen, or LG logo, or anything at all ever appear.
I figured I had really screwed it up, but when I plugged it into the wall it booted up perfectly. All my data was in tact and the rom i had flashed through cwm was still there, not the kdz file that I flashed with the lg software.. I noticed that my sim card did not come up as being in the phone at all. I looked in system setting status and noticed that all info related to my imei said unknown. I opened up the mfg app (277634#*# from the phone app).. Under "version info" then "factory version" my phone now says xmm6260.. It always used to say p925..etc... Even after flashing the zip to debrand from at&t this never changed from p925 even when every other aspect of my phone has.. I was hoping maybe once I put in an activated sim card everything would be fine and my phone would be unlocked which is why i flashed through lg software.. But seeing as how other people are having this similar issue and their phones not seeing the sim card, well im looking for some advice.. Should I try and re flash kdz file through lg software again? if i do, im going to do it on my XP computer this time, not Windows 7..
Just wanted to add that I did try wiping data and cache from cm and no dice.. Root and CMW work fine but no matter what I do, if my phone is turned off, i cannot boot up or boot to cwm or boot at all unless i plug the phone into a wall carger and then once its on it stays on and i can unlug.. SORRY ABOUT THE LONG POST, THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR ANY HELP..
Hello, I am having the same problemws as you.. Have you found anything out yet? I'm trying to get some answers.. Did you try re flashing kdz with lg update?

Hi guys
I'm getting exactly the same thing aswell!! I wonder what the problem could be? I can boot the phone up if I plug it into the wall charger, but have no signal at all.
Anybody got a solution, please?

try this with the correct cable.
No IMEI/GSM Radio
Im having same problem, has anyone found a solution?
Im attaching some screen shots of the errors I get.
Thanks
imei missing
Is there any soltion? Please.
Reflash the phone.
Take out battery. hold down the up key, plug in cable to computer.
Wait till it installs or activates the necessary drivers. eg usb protocol etc.
Then run the recovery via lg tool by entering your imei number in the application.
This will install the latest stock version based on your imei (including baseband)

Thanks, I tried but it did not work.
I tried everything possible. KDZ flashed about 20 times. Flashed bin and fls files many times. I do not know what more to try. When I put androuid 2.2 After a while the cell phone turned on appears IMEI and IMESV, but disappeared again after reboot.
I put the phone in the CP - USB (3845#*920# port settings cp-usb) mode and I connect with hyper terminal when I type AT%IMEI my modem gives me IMEI. When I type AT%IMEI=? back to me is: [IMEI part1 [7] + IMEI part2 [8]] but I do not know how to write it. I tried all possible combinations and I still write IMEI write error. (AT%IMEI=xxxxxxxx + xxxxxxx AT%IMEI= x, x, x, x, x, x, x, x, x, x, x, x, x, x, x, ......) I found [LGFlash Tool 1.0]LGP920_20120213_Download_WriteIMEI.dll at the CSMG server and I tried with LG flash tool so that instead of stock dll I put this dll but it failed. It gives me an error not read IMEI. There may be a BIN file that is used whit it??? Here's the dll if anyone wants to try.
All this hapend after simple reboot. I found service manual for LG internal use it says that this could happen becouse of fault in firmware, and that after write IMEI firmware should be updated to V21A to prevent this to happen. So some early firmware cause it.
I dont have warranty.
sorry for bad english.
Interesting.
When you run the official recovery tool and it asks you to enter your Imei, does it go ahead with the process and fully complete 100% with the flashing?
Do the problems then still occur? If you can get your phone to turn on at anytime, have you tried a full factory reset after that?

Yes it completes at 100% everything is ok I can turn it on, off, go into recovery and everything. Device is working perfect but android cant see IMEI, that is writen in eeprom. I tried factory reset numeros times, no help. When i start lgupdate official tool, tool also reads correct IMEI from device.
Seems an issue with the baseband updating/corrupted, although the lg tool flash recovery should have updated this as well. Have you tried the other flash methods (try one of the kdz roms in this forum. eg v21a for europe gingerbread) and use this flashing method (you would need to block the lg updater from accessing the net) There is a tutorial on this in this forum. it works via forcing a rom update and redirecting it into the lg flash program

I did that metod too. There is any metod here on this forum that I didnt try. Thanks for help. I dont know is it baseband or CP chip problem.
This may be guesswork, but if the baseband is flashed in a specific area of the phones nand space, perhaps the nand blocks there are corrupt which causes it to fail. Perhaps with some additional tools, it may be possible to format this area, marking the bad blocks as bad preventing the baseband data from writing to these area's. Just guesswork here.
Have you tried flashing other baseband versions seperately

[Q] Need Help (flashed Atnt ics on MB865 asia version)

I have a very strange problem, and would require help. I had accidently flashed the Atnt ics version on my Asia (indian) version of atrix 2. These are the steps that i have followed.
Note: I appreciate Jimbridgman, for guiding me via pm to help me solve this.
1. Atrix 2 MB865 asia version. (non atnt) purchased and using in India.
2. Had SEARET rom ics.
3. After it came back from the service center (1 month and 7days, it was with them) everything was fine. But the camera app was not working. The moment i opened the camera app, screen flicked and stayed on the same screen. But the app was active as background app. Multitasking window showed it.
4. Thought of reflashing ics, hoping to fix the camera issue. But few months back, searched for official moto ics and never used it. Something as inline ics. So flashed without realising that it was atnt's ics. (using RSD)
5. Phone booted with atnt logo and i was dumbstruck. (i was aware that we should never flash international atrix 2 with atnt. (Hardware incompatibility.
6. Tried to reflash the SEARET rom but cdt.bin in step 7, failed every time. was using rsd lite 6.
7 tried other rom but same,
8 tried jim's script from ics ti gb. and got soft bricked.
9 was able to get fastboot and the screen to see "motorola dual core" (but it was stuck there).
10. Was reflashing atnt's ics again to atleast use the phone. But the battery just gave away it last breath at the climax.
Now cannot charge the battery and reflash. (will get an external charger and pump up some juice in the battery.
Now as i was being guided by Jim regarding the issue, im posting his reply
Jim : "Sorry to say but you are toast. If you have an international version, you can NOT flash the AT&T version, it will lock to the phone to AT&T harware ONLY, and if you try to flash any other versions it will brick.
If you can get the phone to boot and can get into it with adb you can wipe the CID partition and flash an international firmware, but if you are truly bricked and it will not power on, the only thing you can do is, buy an Atrix2 off of ebay or the like, that has a broken screen and replace the parts inside with the ones from the phone you buy that has a broken screen... That really is the ONLY way that I know of, sorry. "
Ebay doesn't have any broken international atrix 2 for sale. I reside in New Delhi, India. And would appreciate if any body can guide me get a new motherboard for my phone. Gaffar market (Indian will be aware of this market) just ignore a moto phone like a step son. And hardly anybody agrees to trouble shoot. And the person who was willing to reflash the ROM and just try to fix the phone quoted 2400/- (did not mention that he will change the motherboard or what.) even i was not aware of the motherboard replacement part (got to know from Jim)
Now can anyone try and help this poor soul :crying:

well spending 2400 for atrix 2 is better than buying a new phone.if any one guarantees that he will repair your phone get it repaired for 2400.

Of you're in warranty period, then give it to service station saying you just took an ICS OTA and now the phone wouldn't work! Or any better lie you could come up with
Even if it ain't in warranty, ask them how much it would cost to fix it. If it's lesser than 2k, then get it done by them.

LIFE!
IT'S WHAT YOU MAKE OUT OF IT!
You could try using the fastboot commands to flash the SEARET ICS fxz. To do this you will need to get to get the moto-fastboot executable and the android SDK installed.
There is a thread in here I think it is in the General section, that explains how to flash the fxz with the fastboot commands. You will need to flash EVERY part of the SEARET firmware to be successfull and not skip any parts of it when using the fastboot commands.
I have seen others that were getting cdt.bin errors avoid it, by using the fastboot commands, but the only worry I would have is since it has the at&t firmware on it, if it will hard brick or not.
@shubham41230 well they cannot guarantee the fix and cannot be trusted to leave the phone for a day. but if nothing works. They will be the last resort.
@Lifehacker7 can a failed OTA update give the fastboot screen with ''flashing failed" message on top?
@jim the post you forwarded to help to charge the battery did not work. Or mayb i could not mix up the step efficiently to get the phone to charge. Cannot even try fastboot command (battery doesn't have charge) . Can you be kind enough to expalin why can it cause a hard brick if atnt Rom is there. And if gets hard bick. Will changing the motherboard revive it. Cause then i will first chk for availability of motherboard and try the commands (but after getting the damn battery charged). Else will reflash the atnt rom and try and use it. Atleast i will have my $ 400 phone and not a black expensive paper weight.
Regards to all helping and the advices...
Have the same problem as in the first post but my a2 is able to boot
I can flash ROMs with fastboot script.
Erased CID but still can't flash ROMs with RSD (cdt.bin error) and 4.1.2. leak3 Camera is unable to initialize.
Help please!

Restore Samsung Captivate Glide Bootloader (SGH-i927)

Hi all this great community, I have a serious problem with my phone Samsung Captivate Glide, and to install an application and hence fails to restart the logo of "samsung" and there can be hours, and try what they recommend in I have seen posts around here, removing the battery and waiting, by the way if I get both download mode and the recovery mode, and from there try to Re-Flasharlo the Official Stock ROM using Odin if I recognized and well if you did it correctly, but when I reboot again returns the logo of "samsung" and hence fails.
I also searched about it on google and other forums and especially the well known XDA say it is problem with the bootloader, now the question and doubt is like to recover or repair the damn bootloader, I searched on where to find some bootloader for my model, I have since seen some videos of other models of samsung as S and skyrocket with the same problem, there are the flash with odin also give the files of both the Bootloader, PDA, CSC, Phone callers flashing tools but I have found for my model.
I have also done the wipe's appropriate and even factory reset in the recovery mode and still nothing happen the logo.
By the way I had my phone updated to ICS 4.0.4 before I pass this problem because it came with Gingerbread 2.3, plus what I had rooteado with a program called "Kingo Android Root" which by the way is very effective and made me in less than 5 minutes without problem, I say all this for more information on this issue, if not affection to be something super-user.
I have also researched that used to do this with a "Riff Box Jtag" said the problem is not because I have no knowledge about it other than it requires special equipment
There will be some form of damage or repair this and my phone is garbage
I hope you can help me or guide me to do, I thank you in advance for your input and assistance.
Thank you ..
PD: sorry if my English do not understand because I do not know well

When you say official ROM, do you mean a stock ROM ripped and put on the internet, or a custom ROM used for customization? Does anything pop-up on the screen when you press the power button (i.e. battery indicator)?

I meant a stock ROM on the internet. Nothing shows up at all, tried to charge the phone and there's no sign, and then tried to get into the recovery mode using power off and volume up + down buttons and nothing happens at all. I'm afraid that my phone could be completely damaged :crying:

It sounds like your phone may be "bricked". This happens when you load a faulty recovery image onto your device, whether it's incompatible with your device, or a bad recovery. Don't fret, though, as this is sometimes fixable. A simple google search for how to unbrick an Android device delivers a wealth of results, but sometimes a device-specific search may be more relevant to your situation. Best of luck! :good:

Somehow, what you flashed must not have been for your specific device. Flashing stuff that wasn't made for your specific device is the fastest way to hard-brick a device.
From what you posted in your first post, the file that you downloaded and flashed looks like it should be the correct firmware for your device. But, since you didn't download it from the official site for your device, the file that you downloaded may have been modified before it was posted at the place that you downloaded it from or maybe your downloaded file got corrupted or didn't download completely. A corrupted/incomplete file could result in a hard-brick.
Another thing that could have gone wrong is a faulty connection between your device and PC during the flashing process. Or maybe the battery died during flashing or during first boot. This can also cause a brick.
You might be able to repair the device yourself by replacing the motherboard. It could be cheaper than buying a new device or cheaper than the cost of repairs at a shop. Try finding a YouTube video that demonstrates how to disassemble your device to replace the motherboard. You will have to be certain that you are buying the correct motherboard for your specific device model number. After replacing the motherboard, you will have to make certain that you have the correct official firmware file and then flash that firmware onto the new motherboard.

Thanks for you reply.
Yesterday i went to a few local repair shops and one of technicians connected my phone to a charger where you get a light if your device is connected and working properly, then he told me that it's getting enough amps(ampere) to work well but it's probably going to need a software, unfortunately, they couldn't help me, as they don't have the required software for my device (Philips) and they advised me to visit the manufacturer's service center in order to solve this issue.
What I've noticed is that when i connect my phone to my laptop, i can still hear a sound like the one you get when you connect a USB to your laptop, so maybe it's not a hardware issue?
I've called my manufacturer's repair center and they mentioned that for any repair-related issues, it's going to take 3 working days to fix any issue (due to their policy). However, I'm afraid of having my data spied on/accessed if i left my phone over there and I'm really confused whether to buy a new one or just leave it to get fixed.
P.S To everyone who is trying to help me, i do really appreciate it
