About a week ago I installed the MusicFX app that added some cool music settings that I could access in the music player. This was when I was on the Gingerbread leak with Blur. When I went into the settings it gave me options such as "Ambient", "Live Performance", and "Surround" for the 3D audio effect and the only equalizer setting I can remember was called "Bass Punch". It did not have sliders for the bass or the 3D effect.
I then installed the APEX 2.0 beta on the phone. I no longer had access to those presets mentioned above. Only the general equalizer settings and the sliders shown in screenshots for the MusicFX app. Before I remove APEX and going back to rooted Blur on Gingerbread, I'm wondering if I missed something. I've tried installing earlier versions of the MusicFX app as well as other music players to see if that's what I was using before. I've also tried searching for information on that music settings screen with no luck.
Has anyone else seen the menu I'm talking about? Any ideas on what combination of apps, roms, versions I would need to get it back? Any and all input would be great. Thanks ahead of time.
I think the MusicFX plugin only works with music players that have decided to integrate the new features.
I know that the Google Music 3.0 player in the market works with the plugin, but I'm not sure of others.

I know that, and it does work. I have access to the sliders in the menu.
However, the MusicFX screen was different before I put APEX on my DX. I've tried everything I can think of to get the "old" menu back as I don't like messing with sliders.
Maybe this will help:
Before putting APEX beta on, this menu was on the android music app. Then I downloaded the Google Music app beta from the market. The Music Beta had the sliders showing when I accessed the MusicFX screen. As I stated before, I prefer the preset options so I uninstalled the Music beta and went back to the stock player. The "old" style menu was there in the stock player.
I haven't installed the Google Music Beta (I have no reason to yet). As far as I can tell, the switch to APEX either replaced the stock music app, or I really wasn't using the stock one before.

Hey guys, basically I'm looking for a music player app that lets you control your music (previous, play/pause, next) from the notification bar. Are there any music apps out there that have this ability?
Thanks.

Samsung Music Player. IDK how you'll get it though when you don't have a samsung device, since the notification bar music controller is part of the touchwiz UI.
I can't get Widgetsoid to show things in the pull-down menu..
Try CM7
The latest nightly builds of CM7 gives you the power to put widgets in the pull down bar to control your music. If you flash a cm7 rom and you go into cyanogenmod settings, you'll find them under 'widgets' there somewhere. So it would not matter what music player you have. It will control it for you. I hope this helps.
Thanks, but i'm not yet comfortable flashing my device. I'm too dependent on it that if something goes wrong, i'm f*****.
Plus my computer died one hour ago.

It didn't work on my Samsung SGS. Maybe if I start a music player first, it would work. But in that case, the default player is just better (for its controls, not in terms of overall features).
I really don't know why no one has tried to post the SGS default music player. It does not have all those features like PlayerPro, but having controls in the notification area (as well as a nice lock screen widget) really is great. If only it could be made to only play songs by folder...
better music player does this i also found on here if you search for the samsung music widget works pretty nice too!
A new version has been ported and released on the Evo, with cloud sync working. Would love it on my Inc. running SR3.5
Do you have a link?
hey fellas,
i don't think the app is new. a user over in the Evo section noticed that after flashing the latest CM7 build and replacing the stock Music.apk with the Honeycomb music app already floating around his sych/cloud services started to work:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=980018
Here's a link to the Honeycomb Music apk:

I installed it and it worked for me and my music synced in the cloud!
wait, so its already working for our Inc's? Does it have lock screen controls? That was another thing missing from the first leaked version. Also does it improve the volume levels at all? I have to listen at full volume for some songs. Im dying for a new music player, stock one is so bland.
I am not sure about the lock screen controls but I was able to install the apk and it played all the music

Does the cloud sync work?
anyone know how to get ringtones, system sounds, (non music) to stop showing up in the music app? i would like to see only music
I wouldn't recommend this app to anyone quite yet, it has a lot of bugs I noticed after just a couple minutes:
1) No lock screen controls
2) Notification shows content://media/external/...blah blah instead of the song name
3) The pause/next feature present while browsing your library disappears once you hit next (it's possible this was intentional but I tend to believe it's always supposed to be there so you can keep skipping while browsing)
4) Pure music widget crashes when trying to launch app (may be related to #5, not sure).
5) Not sure why, but after I tapped the notification a few times, now I can't even use it. Every time I play a song, it skips to the next one and keeps skipping every second or two to the next song. A reboot did not resolve the issue. The album art displays "buffering" before it skips, so maybe it has something to do with cloud sync, which I didn't play around with, other than selecting my google account in the settings.

Pure music never worked with Gingerbread according to my experience.
One more problem/thing I overlooked: what about shuffle and repeat?
Thanx for the info Xidexl, thats all I needed to know. Guess ill stick with stock. Hopefully new SR will come with a new player.
Couldn't we just rip the final version off of the xoom then that would fix the issues we're having with bugs and I've also seen the one on the xoom and it seems to be a bit different

OK, many people have had issues with the music integrated "AOSP, 4tab, and rotary, and star wars(never got MIUI to work)" lockscreens not actually playing anything right. Sooooooo..., here is the stock gingerbread CM7.1 music app. It includes all widgets and everything. This will not work with the Touchwiz Lockscreens. Also, delete all music players including MiUI music and the stock music player, before pushing this to /system/app.
It has a blue icon that looks like a speaker(if anyone can't recognize it).
I really like the music player I got from F-Droid called Vanilla Music player. Then interface just makes sense to me. But it seems not to be recognized as a player by my Verizon GS3 ICS phone's OS. When I tell Dragon Mobile Assistant to play a song, I get a pop-up asking which player to use, with an option to set the choice as default. The original players from Samsung and Verizon are there, as well as a podcatcher I installed, but not the music player I like to use. Originally, I thought it might be because I side-loaded it through F-Droid, but I found the same one in the Play store and installed it, and the problem persists. Is there a way to force Android to recognize the player as a possible option for playing music so that I can select it as default? Or even a way to set it as default in the first place? I can use the settings in Application Manager in settings to remove apps from the list of possible default apps in the popup dialog to select the default, but I'm not sure how to add an app.
Thanks in advance!
Maybe clear cache for dragon? It might have cached what players were installed when you first ran it. Other than that I'm not sure. Reinstall dragon or there's something about the vanilla player that isn't coded properly in one of the 2 apps I'd think.

Bump, I have the same problem?
Does anyone have this working on any other player except Google Play Music?
I simply can't get it to work with GoneMAD or Poweramp, however Google Play Music and Apollo (CM's music player) manages to show it just fine. It worked on CM11S on both Poweramp and GoneMAD so it should probably work in CM12S too. I have obviously enabled the AudioFX equalizer in both GoneMAD and Poweramp and tried out different ways to approach it like disabling all other equalizers, trying to turn one thing off and enabling the other and AudioFX itself works and the album art is shown in the background, but the lockscreen visualizer does not show in these applications. Completely stock except root, so no modifications done.
Anyone have any tricks to get this working or can at least confirm this is a problem?
have it working on spotify

Really? Because I just tried Spotify and it doesn't do it there either. Now, I don't subscribe to the service so I dunno if that has anything to do with it, but it certainly does not show the visualizer at the lockscreen except the album art.
I also tried wiping the device, formatting system, data, cache, Dalvik and installing CM12 from scratch with only GoneMAD and Spotify installed and neither of them did it then either.
i dont have it working either with spotify - was previously on cm11s
I just tried with Poweramp, and it works just fine on my phone... But I don't have all the other music playing apps, just this one... Maybe they're interfering with one another?
I changed back to stock theme and it works. It wasn't on elixium theme

Did not work unfortunately.
I've tried everything at this point. I even wiped the entire device (even internal storage) and installed everything completely stock and it still doesn't work so this is extremely strange.
My apologies, it was working on cm11 but not 12. I kind of like it and would love to get it working on cm12 if anybody knows how

Same problem here. Loved the feature on cm11. I thought they took it away on cm12 and was extremely dissapointed. I was randomly playing a song on google play and I saw the visualizer.
I realized its poweramp that is the problem. I dont know how to fix it, tried reinstalling the app but no luckl.
I had this problem too but when i use my bluetooth headphone, the equalizer show up on the lockscreen. When i switch back to my wired headphone, the equalizer goes missing.
The same happens for me. I have the latest CM OTA update as of time of the post.
I have only ES Explorer Media Player, I disabled Google Music and AudioFX but not force closed the latter, enabled the option in Settings-->Lockscreen, but the visualization shows only when linked to loudspeaker with Bluetooth
