so today was a good day. for one i was blessed to wake up this morning and to top it of i held a ATT FUZE in my hand. it was the best 10 plus minutes in my life while i was wearing clothes lol. yes people i was at the store today in Milford, CT. the sales associate there had a test model. and i must say it is everything you would have guessed it would be. first off both the stores i went to in the Milford, CT area said the phone will be available the first week in november. so the oct. 23 date is a farse. the guy at the store named weel call "joe the plumber" (cause he is so famous these days) said he had his training on this past tuesday. and most likely the phone will be in his words. "the same price as the tilt when it came out or price competativaly with the iphone. with the rebate if u get the data upgrade." im probally not going to say any thing about the phone you dont know but it reafems the fact that it is real and is as good as advertized. and in the Milford store i was told i was the only person to ask about the phone so i should be the only one with it for a while. im the 1st person in the list for the saleperson. i cant wait for that call in november.
the phone= it self has the diamond back like the unlocked version. i dont know i asked why cause sprints diamond has a soft touch back and he said "the test group didnt like that feture." but i said if ur typing on the table the phone will wiggle cause of the uneven back. i think att was lazy and told htc to change the keyboard and ship the phone out. lol. and the phone is so light. the tilt is a brick compared to this phone. i currently hava lg cu500 and it is bout .25" taller and not much thicker. and that is good cause you get a ful keybaord.
the keyboard= lost the upper top row of just numbers. but it has a lot of quick bottons for text and internet and such. also has a phone style number pad on the keyboard. the keys felt nice and the sliding was smooth. and the screen responded nice. though the accelerometer was not as resposive as he iphone when you moved the phone when viewing webpages. but the zoom was sick.
the camera= i didnt really take pics but the pics he toke and had on the phone was clear. he also showed me the card reader program. with this program you take a pic of a bussines card and it scans the info and make a new ocntact on your phone. it toke like 15 sec for it to scan i thought it froze but it was understandable and still amazinfg when all the info was pust in the correct name, address, etc. sections on the screen. the touch flo with pics are amazing and the screen is so nice. the phone had a led flash if i remember correct. i was so distracted by the pretty screen and touch flo i didnt take time to look much at the buttons and such on the phnone. but i temember a white/yellow thing below the camera lense.
what the phone comes with. the phone i looked at was a test phone so jow said all he got in his black unmarked box was cd, phone, usb, and charger. i know when i went to the sprint store in Hamden, CT where i live and looked at the diamond it came with that and a holtster, air buds, screen protector. i hope att add these things cause for the price i kinda expect it, and htc makes them for the unlocked phone so it should happen.
touch flo was sick. it works as adverticed. they obviously added a att store tab. the pics scrooled nice, and the music player was cool. the contact was scroolable too. i mean everything that you already know is there.
so in closing. the 1st week in november is the date to look for. not this oct 23 but im ok with being proved wrong lol. please excuse and grammer errors. the price should be $300- $400 with the rebate. its not the iphone so they are not going to make there money of volume. and if i remember correct it is a dark red color. i hope this was helpfull to someone cause i was excited when i saw it. though i played it cool. lol Thanks

That's a loooong story... Here's mine:
Bought one on eBay, had it for 3 weeks, sold for $100 more than I paid, it was fun. The end.
yes i have heard your story many times. i have been reading his site for a whole now. i was simply trying to give a full experience for those that care to read it. im sorry your attention span is limited. ill make my post shorter next time.

I don't know if he was trying to be pejorative with his reply, but I enjoyed your long post and its little details.
I'm a bit disappointed with the ATT version of this phone from all accounts. There are really two big things for me. First, the top row of keys would be far more useful had it been left alone as numbers in my opinion. I'm sure I'll get used to it if I end up buying the Fuze, but it's still a disappointment.
The second issue is really just an annoyance, which may end up being completely null in the end. It's the Diamond back, and how prone to wobbling it seems it will be. However, without a tilting screen it is unlikely I would ever really be typing on it while on flat surface anyway (in fact, I normally pick up my Tilt to type even with the tilting screen). And ever since discovering Pocket Controller Pro I'm even less likely to even touch my phone while it's on my desk. So maybe the positives of the aesthetic Diamond back actually outweigh the probably minor negatives of its functionality.

It's odd, my Fuze actually sat on a table and stayed in one position, didn't lean either way, just sat there with the way the back was. I had no problems with it. Also, I'm surprised to see you didn't like the symbols on top, most people I've spoken with (myself included) like the functionality of the symbols. Oh well, to each their own.
Which store in Milford? I used to live there but i'm in college in NYC now. At the Post mall or next to the Starbucks and stuff?
yes the one in the mall. the one by starbuks had a guy that was going for the training but as far as i know there was no test phone at that store. which is weird cause that is the bigger store.
and also i did test typing with the diamond back and it in fact did wobble when typing on a flat surface. though ur right u probably would just hold it rather than type on a flat surface.

Can you guys please tell me:
Did the phone make that shutter noise when you took a picture?
I find that noise annoying when using a camera.
thanks!

Even if it does, you can remove it.
With 3rd party software or with a feature that is built-in?
There are countries passing out laws that a camera on a phone must make that noise so people in the area know a photo is being taken. I was just wondering if AT&T Fuze was on that list.

if the phone is on silent it wont or im sure you can do a tweak or registry change anyway
all right, thanks!
A friend of mine got the nokia n82 with a 5 MP camera. The problem that he finds with it is that the camera makes that noise through the speaker when he takes a picture with it. Even when his phone is on silent or when his headphones are plugged in. I don't think he's found a tweak for it yet.
I was just wondering if it was the same with the Fuze. If anyone who has it can confirm it, it will be greatly appreciated.
when "Joe" toke the picture for the business card it did make a flash sound. though i dont know if the feature can be turned off. but like posted before im sure someone here will be able to fix that no prob.
and on a side note has anyone got any new on the android OS working on the fuze.

Woah... I was unaware of this. The ATT Fuze is dark red in color? As in, not black but dark red or is that optional?
Damn, just googled Milford, CT, and it would be an hours drive... Guess I'll have to wait until release to play with the Fuze
P.S. To the guy with the camera questions, every HTC phone that I know of has had the option to turn off the camera sound...

That's the same question I was about to ask. When you say dark red, do you mean as in the Blackjack II?
yes i do mean a dark red like the black jack II. it was ruby, dark burgundy color. i maybe mistaken cause i was blinded by the sole fact that i has the phone in my hand. lol
ill probably go look at i again this weekend or today. but i dont want to seem like that weird customer that comes in and never buys anything. i work sales and i hate that BS. lol

Well there are two reasons I would prefer the numbers. First of all, it's more like an actual computer keyboard. That would make it more comfortable and normal feeling - at least in theory. Second - and more importantly - I type numbers more often than I type symbols. Having the convenience of not needing to press the function key would be very nice.
I suppose it could go either way though. I'm definitely going to try out the keyboard before I buy, and I'll likely try out the Sprint version (or unlocked HTC version, if I can get my hands on one for a few minutes without purchasing it) also just to make sure. With a fifth row, I'm sure it's an improvement over the four rows on my Tilt no matter which configuration though, so it's not even close to a deal breaker. Just a little disappointment.
Out of curiosity, why would you prefer symbols? I really can't think of a reason why they would be better than numbers, so I'm wanting to know from someone who has that opinion.

i think most people don't mind the number PAD because you can press Fn twice to do a number lock. And since the numbers are grouped together, theoretically it's easier to type series of numbers...ie. phone number
i didn't like the fact that 5th row # was removed (they added that 5th row for THAT REASON!), but then I can see other people's point as well...oh well, i've come to accept that fact, as long as Fuze doesn't make us wait any longer
I had this feature with my TP2, and used it a lot.
Is there any mod of some sort I can install on my EVO 4G to allow the speakerphone to automatically activate when the phone is facedown?
I'm sure others would be interested in this as well.
Thanks!
yea there definitely is because it worked like that on the hero, someone will make it happen hopefully
I did not know that about the Hero!
Hopefully some awsome members here at xda could port that mod/app to the Evo sometime soon...
bump!
I'm curious to know if anyone else has heard anything about re-instating this feature on the EVO 4G!
Thanks
I would def use it

i'm interested in this too, loved it on my tp2
it's 3am, in my bed, talking to someone (doesn't matter to who, that's not the point here). i flip to my side, incidentally making my phone's orientation matching the criteria - facing down, out the blue now i'm on speaker (!)... lol, not that i'd be doing this but this is one case where this "feature" would be more of a "bug"

I'd imagine you could code it not to look for a certain orientation, but to look for a rate of change of the Z axis that would indicate that it suddenly stopped face down on a surface. If it is coded like that, in your scenario you would only trigger it if you brought it off your face than slapped yourself with the phone. The impulse you get from a hard object is much different from a soft object and I imagine that for most people, they're talking about tables and counter tops here which are much harder than your face.

+2 so far works awesome, just like the TP2
Awesome! +3 Just what I wanted.
does anyone know if there is a way to hang up without turning the screen back on? Sometimes when driving and talking on the speakerphone its such a pain to wake the screen and then press end. Sometimes the other end hangs up and i end up pressing a button on the home screen instead. annoying not having a hard button for hanging up!
I love this phone!
Stock ROM, rooted.
Battery lasted yesterday from 630am till 9pm. Gmail, Plume, 4 phone calls, etc.
Reboots/freezes...I had two a couple days ago, switched SD cards and no more issues.
Connectivity...no wifi issues, no issue with 4g...haven't tried bluetooth yet.
Screen bleed...I think I have a little, barely noticeable.
Anybody else have some love for this amazing device?

I got it on 4/20 and I have been enjoying it so far. This is my first smartphone too. I seem to have a bit of screen bleed but only noticable when in complete darkness and near max brightness. Besides this the phone has been great. Very customizable.
love over here! stock, only added apps because honestly im pleased w/ the speed/performance so far. no screen bleed ( or maybe i do but its just isnt noticable) reboots or course but the phone boots in like 30 secs so its not that serious. decent battery life even w/ running a live wallpaper. just waiting for a stable cm7 to see what all the hype is about ( my 1st android phone ) or gingerbread and go from there!
I have nothing but love for this phone!
I like everything except no LED for notifications when the screen is off and all the software bugs.

Hahahah, its great to see this thread. Seems like so many people don't like this phone, it was getting a little depressing. I'm loving mine. Blindingly fast, easy to root, bootloader is open, and after a battery calibration my battery life is fantastic. I have a bit of lcd bleed, but honestly its not much (you have to really look for it to see it). Glad there are others enjoying this phone like I am.

i see alot of hater threads and i have posted in a few
my only issue is the back light bleeding...... if and when i find a device with minimal amount of bleeding this phone will be perfect!
i dont understand how people can complain about battery life when they have all there synch settings set to 5 mins and screen timeout set @ 30 mins and then sit on it all day...
i play music for at least 2 hours a day in my car (4000 watt DA subs FTW!)
i talk on it for about 30 mins a day (mom and random calls)
i txt ALL DAY (gf and brother at least 200 each a day)
i TETHER! for about 2 hours a day and after all that still have about 30%
its not your old razor that got 4 days of battery with heavy use it has to power a BEAUTIFUL (without bleeding) screen...... let alone all the bull spit drivers that LG threw in there
just wait for a BIONIX RoM and a MorFic UV/OC kernel then decide!!!
i give this phone 9.5/10 all day!!!!!
Finally a positive thread lol. My galaxy s has been gathering dust since the day I got this phone. I love everything about it. Honest its sort of a bummer going into g2x forums because of all the problem threads lol (not that I blame them). ONLY problem I have is the screen bleeding and I dont even notice it. Only time that ever comes to mind is when I browse xda and see all the threads.

well dont be mad but i get my third G2x in the mail today... and im gonna make a video of the bleeding on all three (i still have the other two) and make one more BLEEDING HATER THREAD i know its gotta stop some time but this will be the LAST chance/response that I personally will address the issue at hand
then im going to send it to LG as they want pictures..... but i think a video describing it will be a little better for the paper pushers @ LG that think is not a issue and you should just turn the brightness down or on auto (that was the answer they gave to the problem)
Love this phone. My only complaint is the amount of times I have to peel off my speck case and pull the battery because it locks up.

Even though I'm not bothered by the bleeding I am going to wait for however long it takes them to put out a new batch of phones without the issue them im going to warranty for a new one. Doing it now doesnt make a difference because the entire first batch of phones has the problem.
I got to say this phone is a beast! I love it as well. Although I admit the bleeding problem but I think once new batches are out then t-mobile would not give us any problem to replace them.
Coming from a Vibrant and I don’t know how to even compare the two.
* GPS works better than my Garmin Nuvi, It locks while the maps are loading. The compass works like charm. I remember my Vibrant was a joke, it would take minutes to lock and the compass never worked at all. And I replaced the vibrant 4 times!
* The look and feeling of G2x is amazing, you feel like you are holding a nice expensive phone in your hand. I cant even compare to the plastic vibrant.
* The screen is a lot better and crisp on G2x, If I turn both phones and compare them side by side, you can notice the cloudy and high contrast screen of vibrant right away(so called "super amoled"). Only con for G2x is the bleeding on the corners.
* Wifi works better on G2x as well, I never have wifi reception on the vibrant while in the bedroom. But now G2x has full reception.
* Volume and power button on G2x is awesome. Very nicely laid out and have great feeling. I hated the vibrant buttons!
* I don’t know why but I heard some people talking about bad sound quality and low speaker volume. I compared G2x to both Iphone4 and SGS vibrant, and G2x is better than those two.
* Great camera, flash, FFC, and back cover..
* Above all, this phone is going to have a great support! not only 2 weeks that the phone has been released and we already have a beta CM7! in couple weeks, we will probably have a great functioning stable CM7 on our phones and I am also hoping first CM8 when Google releases the ice cream!
* Only concern that I have is the current baseband modem is a little buggy, but I know we will see new modems in mater of time.
I do love the phone, but unlike many of you that just got it and love it, I've had it since it was first released, and my love for it has waned as bugs have started to reveal themselves. So don't speak too soon if you just got the phone or you may be eating your words.
First came the random reboots, but then they went away.
Then I noticed the stuck on "goodbye" screen during shut down that required a battery pull.
Then yesterday I had a un-provoked factory reset happen on me.
Again it's a great piece of hardware, but even those of you claim to love the phone have to admit that LG quality control is lacking and there certainly are bugs to squashed. Just b/c you had great success with your phone doesn't mean the phone is great overall, it just means you've been lucky or haven't had the phone long enough.
I think many users are happy with it.
Mine only had one lockup from the day I purchase about 2 weeks ago.
Screen backlight leak/bleeding is minimal so it's not that bad.
HDMI is pretty cool when playing games on big screen.
Battery is OK but I only get up to 3.5 hours (from full to 15%) of continuous streaming mp3)
Cam and Video recorder does the job and the video isn't that large.
Calling quality is very good but I want the speakerphone is louder, same as video/audio playback.
Can use the light as flashlight with tiny flashlight app.
It should be the snappiest phone I have so far (2500+ quadrant).
Instant screen cap (touch home and press power button).
Three issues:
It can't read ogg vorbis tag, so ALL files are treated as "unknown" with winamp or default music player.
Wifi setting gets FC after it's connected.
Streamfurious doesn't work (gets broken pipe then stopped) and it's reported some streaming audio applications don't work (tunein radio works fine).
this phone sux lol. f*** love. jk
Was wondering if it was worth upgrading from a g2? What do you guys think about it? Let me have some pros and cons before I dish out my booze money I had saved lol.

sure no problem you will be ok just handle the phone with care the back piece is fragile very, try not to drop the back cover or you will loose your volume rocker or the power button and remember to slide it in and out the back cover head first thats what he meant about build quality i think

THIS IS THE WORST, MOST SHODDILY CONSTRUCTED PHONE THAT COULD EVER EXIST (Not)
The "build quality" of the phone is fine. There are a few problems associated with being early adopters, that a small fraction of people on XDA have. As far as I know, everyone with major issues had them resolved by returning their phone, in store and getting it replaced on the spot.
There are different displays one bye AUO and one made by Sharp, if you're having trouble and prefer either display you can go in-store and exchange it, after telling them the issues you're having with your phone.
Furthermore many of the so called "issues" with build quality are BS manufactured by XDA-ers. Like:
"If I turn of my screen and hold it at a 45 degree angle while shining a flashlight at it I can see a spec of dust under the screen, I'm really really worried ='("
or my personal favorite:
"When I press down on the buttons on the bottom of my screen I hear a slight creaking sound WTF HTC!?!?"
My personal second favorite is THE LAGGY SENSE ISSUE, which essentially goes like this :
"I saw a video on youtube and the HTC EVO 3D runs the HTC Sense homescreen carousel milliseconds faster and smoother than the HTC Sensation, WTF HTC !!! IS THIS WHAT WE'RE PAYING FOR!?!?!?"
- I would like to note that this issue only came into existence after said video made its way to the forums and someone decided that it was an "issue" that a slightly newer phone, with slightly better hardware and a slightly more optimized ROM, ran sense 3.0 slightly better than our phones do at the moment.
- They aren't buttons... this is a touch screen phone and just because they look like buttons doesn't mean that they should be pressed like buttons.
- Wifi-Signal attenuation while holding the phone, in landscape, a particular way IS real, but only if you are far away from your router. ALL phones experience signal attenuation when all or parts of the radios are covered, our phones do not lost Cellular data signal when held in landscape as has been erroneously reported in some places.
Now I will tell you about my experiences with the phone. Both cameras perform poorly in low light conditions and other than that it's a beast of a phone. Absolutely phenomenal.Strangely enough, I don't hear many people talking about this, actual issue where the phone is not performing as one might realistically expect it to perform.
I got my device on launch day and haven't had one "issue" yet. I have seen and others have noted that some dust can get inside of the phone's case, near the headphone jack. I would consider this another NON-issue as it has not been shown to cause any issues. Furthermore dust frequently gets inside of electronics, that's why the good lord above invented compressed air. Some XDA-ers inhale it then try to find issues with their devices, I will use it to clean my phone in a few months, the same way that I do to my desktop PC or the way my little brother does to his gaming consoles.
It's a terrible phone if you only use it at 45 degree angles, in the dark, while shining a flashlight on it, with the display turned off as you press extra hard on the touchscreen (because YOU believe they are buttons to be pressed and not a screen to be touched), using your phone a mile away from your home router, in landscape while completely covering the top of the phone and watching videos of HTC EVO 3D's performing slightly better and getting jealous.
If you use your phone like a normal end-user or even a power user and NOT a beta tester in a laboratory setting then the phone is amazing.
I rest my case.
Thanks for the info guys. Much appreciated.

That was pretty good statement. +1

You should look into getting the mytouch 4g slide it comes out July 27th it has pretty much the same specs but you won't have to give up your physical keyboard and it can handle T-Mobile HSPA+

I am not sure what these guys are referring to as having questionable build quality. If anything that would apply to the G2 and that was my last phone...well, right before the G2x horror.
You should be quite happy with the Sensation, if you have nothing against HTC Sense, as it is a very good device. Very good. I am certain it will be bested in some way by another high end Android phone in a few months, or weeks (there's always something new) but I am flat out thrilled to be using one right now.

Having had HTC HERO and A HTD HD7 I was more of inclined to go for the SENSATION,
But after hovering around both threads decided for the GAlaxy s2 due to better back camera and front camera(2mp) and also for the fact that it came with bootloader unlocked
ANd I guess that was the best decision I made cause of one more reason being....
You can flash the latest firmwares on samsung Devices with ODIN without the NEED TO ROOT which I think is really cool.
I am already on a leaked version of 2.3.4 running beautifully with gtalk video working really great and have not even rooted my phone yet
Just my thoughts.........
I switched to T-Mo to get this phone because VZW pissed me off by releasing their bastardized version. I love the look and feel of the Z3. I love the water resistance. The screen is amazing. The interface is unobtrusive and actually adds some useful features on top of stock Android. All of that said, I have two major disappointments:
1. The camera. I was expecting a stellar camera experience. I can honestly say that the camera is one of the worst I've used on any phone in the past year. I have 10+ different smartphones, as I have to test them with software at work. Of all the flagship Android devices released this year, this is the worst camera experience I've had. I'm so disappointed, because I was really looking for a phone that would keep me from carrying an iPhone 6 around just for the camera. I'm sick of carrying two phones. I'm not trying to complain, rather ask if someone has any ideas to get better pictures out of this camera? It does just fine with anything that is standing still, but trying to take pics of a kid or animal in motion, even in decent light, seems like a losing battle.
2. The vibration motor is SO LOUD. Is this just me? Did I get a defective one? It's so loud that if it's sitting on the carpet two rooms away I can hear it vibrate. It kind of defeats the purpose of putting it into silent (vibrate) mode, because everyone sitting in a large conference room can hear it vibrate in my pocket.
Any feedback or suggestions on these two issues would be appreciated.
The camera works better once you go in manual mode and play with some settings there. As for your motor, my first Z3 was incredibly loud as well, and I exchanged it and this one I have now is much better. My other gripe is typing and not registering input... I've tried different keyboards with no luck.
I haven't had any of those problems. My Z3 catches every touch and the motor sounds normal to me.
Can't say I've ever known iphone cameras to be any good to be fair but the Z3 camera is one of the worst.
As for the vibration motor, mine is very quiet and not very powerful.
My keyboard is awful too and no keyboards fix it.
Auto mode for camera is not great, hopefully fixed in Lillipop update, but on manual it takes pretty great pics.

I'm going to go back to T-Mo today and compare my vibration to the display model. I think there's something wrong there. As for the camera, I've been diving into the manual settings. Sure, with 10-15 seconds of setting up a shot with all the right settings, it can take decent pictures. That said, I can pull out the 6 Plus in full auto and snap something just as good, if not better, almost every time. With a kid and pets, it's all about being able to pull off spontaneous shots without fiddling with settings for 10 seconds. By then, the moment has passed. It's super frustrating.
I'm strongly considering exchanging for a Note 4. The Z3 is just so gorgeous, but I think the camera is a deal breaker for me. As someone who has had every variant of Sony's excellent RX-100 line, it's disappointing to see such a poor photo experience on a phone that should be incredible. This camera ticks every check box and should be an amazing performer.
For any of you with a laggy keyboard try uninstalling the last Google Search update and reinstalling. That fixed mine.

Or you could keep your z3 and buy a sony qx100. You will have photos at rx100 quality from you phone...
Go to settings, language and keyboard, click the tools icon on the keyboard you are using, scroll down to sound and vibrate, vibration intensity
See if that also fixes the vibrate mode in general
