I saw on the Sense 3.0 camera thread that the camera is those ROMS will not work on stock so I was wondering if anyone has figured out how to bring the camera that is in the sense 2 ports (i.e. Z) over to regular stock sense roms i.e. MikFroyo or Warms...i like the look and feel of the newer sense cameras but can't bring them over. I have moved the apk into the rom and it will open for a spilt second, show the display and then FC. I am sure it has something to do with the lib and framework files and I tried bringing what I could over but have not had any success...Any ideas
Just a quick thought..after copying over the new camera, have you tried going into applications and clearing the data? This seems to be the FC fix for so many things like this. Good luck!
I can't wait for that eather i like CM7 (aosp roms) but i don't like the cameras, people can say is not ture but me and my wife have the evo 4g i have cm7 right now and she has the sense 2.1, we were at the park the pictures that she got was wayyyyyyy better quality then the ones i got, all using the 8mpx camera, like no change to the settins at all.
i hope somebody can port the sense camera, from any sense to a aosp rom. that alone would be a big plus.
I do like the sense camera apk myself. Have you guys used the MIUI.apk on decks or cm7. Works pretty good too. Gives me great pictures.

I just got the sensation today. (I'm coming from nexus one running cyanogenmod). There's really only a few things about sense 3.0 that I like. The camera app, the lockscreen, some of the widgets, and the quick notification widgets (although I like cm7's implimentation MUCH better). Anyways I'm hoping that once the bootloader gets unlocked we'll be able to get cyanogenmod on it, but until then is it possible to get a few stock apps on the sensation?
The only things from sense I'd maybe like to keep in a more "stock rom" would be the camera app and the lockscreen. Everything else I don't really care for. =\
I want the these apps.

I made the same transition as you. At first I hated the dialer and contacts, but they've grown on me.
However that gallery does suck total nuts. You can go in the market and download gallery 3d which is (as far as i can tell) the standard gallery you're used to. I'm using it and it feels right at home.
I absolutely can't wait until we can have CM7.1 on this thing.
Also.. is it just me... or are you totally missing the trackball? I keep trying to adjust the cursor with it when editing text just to get disappointed that it's not there...

No...I hate it. I've accidentally called the wrong person already because it doesn't ask if I want to call. Also it isn't showing contacts pictures when calling? Wtf? It just looks ugly to me compared to the stock android dialer. The contacts app is worse. AOSP contact app is so much simpler looking and just all around better.

I hate the gallery app, it sucks so much. Also i've taken a few pics that auto upload to google+ and it shows the date it was taken as jan 1st 1970. WHatttt?
I've only had it for 8 hours so far, and i've already done that at least a dozen times. I used the trackball just for going back a little to make corrections. Going to take a bit to get use to, but in time I will.
I can't wait for CM7.1 on the sensation. Sense to me is just ugly. I like gingerbread's status bar, and the notification widgets in cyanogenmod so much better than sense...It's ugly. Also I don't see the point of putting the recent apps in the pull down bar....
Good thing for launcherpro plus
I am also hunting for the AOSP style dialer...initially when the MT4G came out and was rooted you could just push the contacts/dialer apk to system/app and change the permissions and it would work. I have had no such luck with the Perma-Temp root on the Sensation...

I'm in the same boat here and can't stand the dialer or gallery. Thanks for the tip on Gallery 3d Picked this phone up because it looks and feels just like a larger faster version of the N1 and I figure it will be rooted sooner or later.

I guess it just comes down to what you're use to. I'm use to the 3d gallery because I've had the n1 since launch. I'm trying out quick pic though. Anything is better than the gallery app on the sensation. Sense really has left me a bit underwhelmed. The only things i'd want to keep from sense is the lockscreen and the camera app.

your right. I had n1 at launch too. I wanted to like the gallery cause it looked cool, but didn't function that well. Plenty times I has to reboot just for a pic I just took to show. I found Quick pic and been using it since
Lol @ that 3D gallery. I hated it on my MT4G and this gallery is cool IMO. Didn't like Touch Wiz on the Vibrant or Sense on the MT4G........flashed a 3.0 rom and loved it. So I bought a Sensation. I'm just curious to know why buy something you already know you don't like? To each their own.

MIUI is neat.
MIUI one all the way, although I really don't think the stock gingerbread one is that bad, it's just uglier than ****.
Okay so.. I actually lost the .zip or .apk I had for that one.
Could someone re-post it?

I'm finding the AOSP-based camera apps cannot match the Sense apps. This seems a big failure of the CM7 ROM and others like it.
Does anyone have an AOSP camera that has panorama and HDR-like effects for CM7?
With a decent CM7 theme the stock camera doesn't look too bad. For instance, with Wizmod 2:
Ok well its saying the screenshot I took with cm7's built-in screenshot tool isn't a valid image. Gallery views it fine, dunno what's up. Ill try and upload it when I get home but trust me when I say it looks decent

Is MIUI flashed to replace the AOSP camera apk? Anyway I can restore it back to the stock camera if it is a flash? Just TB?
I didn't check that zip file specifically but most of the an I u I supplications are just apks that you can run concurrently. I'm using a sense rom right now simply because of the camera app, the aosp camera is just too slow and the random hard locks with the miui camera are unacceptable. I miss stock android.
Does anyone have the stock camera apk? I prefer using cm7 but I love the stock camera. The ones that come with non-sense roms are for the most part, unimpressive. I like the full screen hi Res images from stock. Thanks!
It won't work sorry bro

What about miui cam? Anyone know how that is? I think its in someone's cm7 hybrid build.
Why wont it work? I got the sense 3.5 insertcoin camera apk on my computer and using miui and would like to use the sense cam...
It won't work, like all other widgets and htc software won't work over CM7. That software requires the HTC Sense Framework and will not work without it on your phone. You will get only a sequence of ForceClose from running the apk.
You're are free to try anyway, just take the camera.apk from any sense rom
Bummer, well. "The Beast " rom seems to be the best of both worlds... Senseless rom with sense apps, like the nice camera!
I've been experimenting with camera apps. Judging by the fact that you like the sense camera like me, try camera zoom FX, closest i've come to sense cam. But no touch to focus. Comes with some other nice features. Closest i've come to instant capture.
Edit- beast rom is melvins?
Ifyou just wait the camera issues with cm7 will be resolved. Only a few things don't work.

It's the UI I hate. The borders and stuffs. I like a plain UI but with classy looking menu and options and such. The sense cam and xperia arc cam apps are 2 examples. If anyone has any replacement or similar app please please let me know. Would appreciate it very much

My concerns are not about something that doesn't work. Simply the camera app of the CM7 is way way behind in comparison with the sense one in all their aspects. UI, functionality, effects, settings... If you buyed your sensation also for it 8mpx camera you can't be satisfied with that app or, at least, i'm not. It's the main reason that keeps me from flashing these roms. Actually, Friend Stream is another big one
I'm working a custom rom that has as much of Sense pulled out as possible without interfering with functionality. It is based on SOS S by Swagstr and it is super smooth. The main focus will be battery life. It's also as smooth as a baby's arse. Its like the remove sense option from the EViO series. Its a stable beta. I'm only calling it a beta because I haven't themed it yet. Anyway just try it out and tell me what you think!
-Stock Deodexed Sense 1.0
-MAXED OUT build.prop
-Native screenshot, Quick settings, Tweaked browser, CRT animation, 4 in 1 reboot, swiping notifications, Volume music mod,
-ICS Gtalk from Swagstr
-Most of sense Ui pulled out
-Sony Xperia S experience
-A bunch of init.d tweaks
-GPS tweak - should be faster?
-Nexus S boot animation
-HTC everything removed
-No live wallpapers, they're cool and all but they destroy battery life
-Lots of Ram
-Cleaned up like 10 mb in libraries
-Hacked hotspot
-Its pretty damn fast.
-Download is 134 mb so its slim
Instructions to install:
Wipe everything: data, cache, system, dalvik, and boot, three times each
Flash rom
Flash any kernels/ tweaks
Reboot
Let rom sit for a while
Then using titanuim backup install the htc setup wizard and google setup wizard and anything else you don't like
Reboot and wipe cache and dalvik
let it sit and your're good

Yea I agree, HTC makes some nice looking stuff, albeit bloated. But whatever saves space feel free to do! Also, the SOS tweaks and mods would work on this too right? Just wondering if anyone else tried before I have a go, but I guess I could always nandroid.
SOS Tweaks should work on it. And I'm keeping the Sense Dialer and Contacts. I really wanna focus on stability and smoothness. I don't like the Sense gallery and I'll put in the MIUI one or Stock one. The stock syncs photos and is pretty stable and fast. I will include the aosp clock for people who don't need the sense one. There's gonna be an update tonight including the new stuff and some tweaks. When I get out of beta we'll have transparency.

NEW VERSION IN TEST PHASE - COMING SOON
UTB-ROM for the HTC One S gives you a clean, no fuzz, CM9/AOSP based ROM.
Version 2.0 marks the start of the future. As we anxiously await the kernel drivers from HTC, talented developers are making good progress on getting AOSP running smoothly. While there are still some issues floating about, its time to start building the base for the new ROM.
Description
You have two options. v1.0.6 gives you an AOSP-like experience but with the comfort of the original stock HTC ROM as base. Most things work as expected. However, if you enjoy living on the bleeding edge, version 2.0 gives you an CM9 based ROM which will get some bleeding edge extras along the way. Version 2.0 is still very early in development and is currently pretty identical to a stock CM9 ROM, but I wanted to give a taste of what is coming.
Highlighted Features v2.0
CM9-base
Google Play Music
OLED-Optimized ICS Boot animation (true black levels)
Latest Google apps included for your convenience
Note that this is just an introductory release. It is plagued by the same bugs as the other AOSP/CM9 based ROM's are. But we are making good progress and soon we will get all bugs figured out, Im certain!
Highlighted Features v1.0.6
Stock Android apps (Trebuchet launcher, Android Messaging app, Android Contacts, etc, compiled from source)
Stock Android ICS notification bar
Most of the included HTC apps are long gone
Based on the new 1.64.997.1 kernel
Zipaligned
Just feels good!
Changelog
v1.0.6
Picasaweb added (syncing works, uploading is still an issue.. maybe because of this)
ICS Live Wallpapers
Updated Gallery app (Now shows your online photos)
1.0.5
Removed CruiserPwrExpert - A ridiculous logging tool from HTC that does nothing but drain your battery.
Removed the HTC Gallery
Removed HTC Music
Added AOSP Email and Exchange
Added Google Play Music
Added AOSP Gallery
Known Issues v1.0.6
Unlock required before answering call (Hard to fix as its a compatibility issue with Sense)
The HTC Camera is for some reason not willing to open the ICS Gallery for previews.
NOTE: If you are coming from a different base ROM than the one you are flashing, a full data wipe is encouraged and recommended.

Yeah, I left the stock HTC camera app and gallery app. The reason for this is the unique features of the ImageSense chip which I didnt quite get to work with the stock camera app.
HTC's settings are also still in as well as the HTC Music app, but I might be removing that in the next version. Unfortunately, until we get AOSP running on the One S, it will be difficult to escape HTC's customized stuff completely. But I am trying to get as close as I can without breaking anything.
In terms of bugs, I am still trying to resolve answering calls without having to unlock the screen. Apart from that, I havent found any other serious issues yet.
Feedback is most welcome though. Ive just made a ROM to satisfy my desires and needs

Thanks for the feedback. Good to know the foundation is stable and solid.
Is there an easy way to change the behaviour of the app switch button in here? I'd find it more useful to switch between apps than as a menu button.
Hmm haven't thought about it. Just made more sense to have a menu button. If you long-click the home button you get the app switcher though

Problem is that when you don't assign menu to one of the buttons you get the onscreen menu button back...

The on-screen button doesn't really bother me. At least it tips you off that there are hidden settings in some apps. Over time there should be less need for a menu button anyway. Guess it's just a preference of mine, but very awesome ROM otherwise!
Shame there's no live wallpapers though.

Is everyone experiencing better battery life with this ROM? Also, what is the issue exactly with screen unlock? When you update the ROM, will we have to wipe? Do you know how long before answering calls bug is resolved? I happen to enjoy this version of Sense versus the older ones but I'm all for trying a "lighter" version of the OS.

To be honest, I didnt really use my device much before I flashed it, so its hard to answer the question of battery life with any certain degree of accuracy. But battery life is great for me and Im sure the new kernel doesnt do it harm either.
The screen unlock issue isnt really an issue, but more a HTC - Android AOSP incompatibility problem. When an incoming call occurs while the phone is locked, you have to unlock the screen first before being able to click the answer-button.
Hello..
very great rom.. i'd like to know if there is a battery mod for this rom!
