Just to let you know, there's a beta of MortPlayer in the Android Market ("MortPlayer Music (beta)").
Don't expect it to be the 50" thick swiss army knife MortPlayer for WM became.
Some features still need to be added (sleep timer, caching database, ...), but mostly I want to keep it simple to use.
So, what you get with "MortPlayer Music" is a simple, folder based player. No "favorites", just a selectable main folder. No playlist support, because that just caused confusion about the current mode and when to save. (However, there might come support for existing playlist files that determine the order of files in the same folder.) No special audio book support - but I plan to offer a separate "MortPlayer Audio Books", which of course will have it's own main directory.
What it does offer so far:
- Simple folder based navigation with folder skip buttons and hierarchical selection (tap cover)
- Selection of current track (tap track information, you can switch folder from there as well)
- Supports all common album art storages: ID3 (currently buggy), cover.jpg, folder.jpg, AlbumArt.jpg
- Shuffle and repeat modes as known from WM version
- Restores previously selected track
- Widgets (Cover = play/pause, track information = "remote control" popup)
What's planned:
- Cache directory structure and tag data in database (except covers, don't want to clutter the device storage...)
- Show tag data in track list
- Some eye candy (e.g. animations, background images)
- "As next track" option in track list
- Sleep timer, maybe alarm clock
- Audio book version (separate app)
- Version history dialog
- PayPal button in Help/About
- Different main screens (selection or skinning, let's see what's possible...)
What won't be implemented (soon):
- Equalizer, effects, other formats. I use Android's playback methods, and Android doesn't offer them...
- Streaming. Maybe some time as separate app, but I think there are already better solutions for that.
Maybe, some day:
- Playlist support (read only, only for files in same folder)
- Temporary folder selection (play some folder(s) not in main directory, don't save/cache anything for it)
- Tag based navigation
- Search function
- Playlist version (similar to MortPlayer for WM in playlist mode)
Sweet! Can't wiat for this when I get my Mytouch 3g.
It looks nice so far, particularly the ability to have it only read from one folder and not grab every audio file on your sdcard like the standard player... (wasn't able to try with audio yet... Left my headset home and I'm at work)
Question though... does it support crossfading or gapless audio?
No other media player I've seen in android does... I'm just starting android programming so I haven't gone through the SDK all that much so I can't see why this might be...
Its a very good idea, to make a good player for android with a good features list.
I hope it will be sucessfull.

No, afaik the SDK doesn't allow that (at least didn't find something). (OK, maybe I could start a 2nd MediaPlayer instance shortly before track ends... but I think that'd be pretty hard to time correctly...)
But the gaps are pretty small, at least on my Milestone. I had some intro / song follow-ups where I barely noticed the track change.

I try to focus a bit more on usability than on features for this one. The WM version became "a bit" bloated and complicated over time...
This is great news! I plan to get an Android as my next phone. It will be great to see my favorite WM application there.
Yet another "New MusicPlayer?" suggestion
Hey Mort!
i really love the idea of a new music player for android (finally someone did it )
however what i (and i guess a big part of the community) prefers is a player with a library like the default android player. I'm NOT telling you to change something on MortPlayer, i am just suggesting that a nice new app would be a MusicPlayer that has:
- Nice library with SIMPLE listview, not extended listview as in default music player
- Tabs instead of those buttons for Artist, Album, etc.
- Backgroundservice that prohibits the player from being crashed when running in the background
- Theme Support(?)
- Widget / maybe even LockScreen plugin? (dunno if that is doable)
just suggesting.... not telling you you have to do this but everyone would appreciate it, as the amount of 3rd party players is in my opinion. Either they are slow, or totally overloaded with features, buggy, or incompatible...
P.S.: Shouldn't be too hard as Android has a MediaService that recognizes and puts the whole Music in a library, so all you would have to do is an interface for that service.
just wanted to say THANK YOU for bringing my favorite Audioplayer at Win Mobile to Android too. I really loved MortPlayer for Win Mobile and I'm shure that I will also love Mort Player for Android. Please do also a decent Audiobookplayer because the players availible aren't even worth to mention.
Like the remote pop-up. So far looks quite good.
Would like it to maintain functionality first- coverflow etc. will be nice, but keep it usable first
Thank you for dev this. Android still needs a good media player that is simple and still nice to use and look at. I was using Meridan player which was fine but just kind of boring. This on the other hand is nice from what I seen/use so far. It shows that you can make app easy to use and still pretty to look at!

Sorry, don't think this will be anytime soon. IMHO there are enough alternatives for that, even the new one from Androi 2.1 probably would too soon become a reasonable alternative.
- Nice library with SIMPLE listview, not extended listview as in default music player
Click to collapse
What's wrong with extended listviews? It's not harder to select an item and saves space. I was thinking about it myself.
- Tabs instead of those buttons for Artist, Album, etc.
Click to collapse
If I add tags browsing, of course this will be the case.
- Backgroundservice that prohibits the player from being crashed when running in the background
Click to collapse
If the player window isn't visible, only the background service is running. If Android decides to kill the service, there's not much to stop it from doing so - with all bad side effects. All I can do is restart the service when it's required...
- Theme Support(?)
Click to collapse
Pretty hard to do while maintaining flexible adjustment to different screen sizes. I was thinking about some selectable themes (i.e. colors, button styles, etc.) and layouts (i.e. where is what) and selectable background images in a later version, but of course that's not even close to skinning...
Widget / maybe even LockScreen plugin? (dunno if that is doable)

Widget's there. I think there's some tool to add a Widget to the LockScreen, but I don't think that's a good idea anyway. Just imagine you start the player accidentally in office...

Yeah, I know that service. It sucks (imho). It seems pure luck when it detects new files, has several bugs in tag reading (some of my files were shown with weird chinese texts), doesn't offer a quick and easy way to get the tags to a given file, ... That's why I use own ID3 and database routines.

As told, it's planned. However, I can only support encodings Android supports, so no Audible and the like...

I guess nobody would've said that about the WM version...
Well, it's a better system and learned from some errors in the past...
Attached is a preview of the next update. It contains quite some changes (database, sleep timer, headset support, some bugfixes, ...), so it'd be nice if it's a bit tested before I upload a worse than current version to Market...
Next try... I think this one should be stable and fast enough to publish it in Market. But better safe than lots of 1 star ratings...
Bugfix, now folder navigation should work again.
Thx Mort for the great effort again!
I used Mort Player in wm for long time and it works like a charm!!!
And now u are contributing to Android. You are always the best dev i met!!!
Little suggestion, are A2DP and AVRCP possible in ur masterpiece?
Once again, thx and YOU ARE TE MAN!!!!!

Of course. A2DP is done by Android anyway, and AVRCP handling is quite easy (once you discovered MEDIA_BUTTON means all media related buttons...). I wish it was half as easy and stable with WM...
However, on HTC hero you need "headset button enabler" (in Market) because it doesn't send the correct "intents".
Update: New update available in Market.
The latest v0.3.3 works very well!!!
Now the AVRCP works with my Liquid~
5-starred MortPlayer in market! thanks!

EDIT: I found what seems to me like a bug (or at least an unexpected feature...). If I touch the widget it brings up the remote control pane and functions properly on my G1 (cm4.2.13). If i touch "Show main player" it does. From here, if I hit the home button, the next time I touch the widget, I get the Main intent instead of the remote. If I hit the "back" button from the Main player, the widget again shows the remote control pane as expected.
Cheers!

I know, but I didn't find any workaround to this weird Android behaviour.
Main trouble is Android's Activity handling. An "Activity" is similar to what you'd call window or dialog in Windows. In Android, only one activity is running per app, i.e. if you move from main screen to folder selection, the main screen activity is stopped, and then restarted when you return. Exactly the same happens when you move to the home screen, get a call, open a notification, etc. Only exception is the back button, where the activity is "finalized" (similar to a "real close", but still cached for reuse).
It seems Android doesn't like to start a new activity (the remote screen) when another one of the same app is still running.
I could "finalize" the player at other events as well, but the only ones invoked when pressing the Home button are the same as when you enter e.g. folder selection. So if I'd finalize the main view there, returning from folder selection would return to a no more existing activity, i.e. the app isn't visible anymore. Not exactly what you'd want...
Sorry for the long technical explanation, but I it's a bit hard to put Android's handling in better words...
Just glad to see you've moved over to Android! I used your player for a long time when I was on WM, but I have to say it was getting more complex than I needed. I would like to see many of the features your working on, but stability and simplicity are much more important. Album art seems to plague the players I've worked with, so if you can reliably handle all the methods you mentioned, that would be great...The only one that seems to be a problem for me is the ID3 embedded art.
Keep up the great work!

makes sense, I figured it has something to do with Activity handling.
Thank you for the technical response. I really appreciate it.
Hrm..perhaps this is why Stericson uses AndExplorer for file selection in MetaMorph (or maybe he just didn't feel like / hasn't gotten around to writing a file picker...)
Description
Simple music control widget capable of hiding itself while there is no track playing. It is designed to be used with WidgetLocker Lockscreen, however it is possible to use it on your homescreen as well.
Why would I code something like this?
I have switched from Sense to CyanogenMod, and I just hated its lockscreen. So I installed WidgetLocker, and set it up so it looks and behaves like HTC Sense lockscreen. However, I missed some decent music control, because all the widgets made me start playback in my pocket when I did not wanted to. So I just coded my own widget able to hide itself when there is no active playback. Since there is a lot of users with various requests, I am working on support of more players all the time.

would it be possible to add support for music mod?
my phone has music mod instead of the stock music player, but it doesn't work with your widget.
i've actually been looking for a widget like this for a while.
Actually, I do have modded stock player (bundled with CyanogenMod), and one of my testers has Music MOD installed along with Sense player, and it works for both of us. Have you tried switching between auto-detection and Android player in widget settings? And most importantly - do you have 1.1 upgrade from Market?
got the latest version of the widget, tried all the widget's settings, even tried removing the pre-installed music-mod and re-installing it from market.
it still doesn't detect music-mod.
EDIT: problem seems to only occur with music-mod 1.8, perhaps because that one is designed to be installed next to the stock music player rather than replacing it.
got it working for now with a music-mod 1.7.5.2
EDIT2: just thought of 2 things that might make the widget even better:
1: let the user set the time-out in seconds using a text(number) entry box(if possible one with arrow buttons like the alarm clock and calendar apps), rather than a slide.
i find 1 minute to be too long, and immediate too quick.
2: allow the user to set an action when the widget is touched in it's hidden state, a few possible actions: do nothing(like it's now), launch music player, play/unpause music, reveal widget for a short time.
great idea, kudos!
I wish this were able to be implemented into other players, as I use PowerAMP.
But I love the idea, I always wanted a feature like this so I didn't have my PowerAMP music widget displayed on my lockscreen at all times.
Pls, add support for Music Mod 1.8
Thanks for the great ideas! I will focus on following:
- Install Music Mod 1.8.0 and analyse what is going on there
- Hiding the widget on unlock the way HTC lockscreen does it
- Change the slider to shorter intervals
- Short reveal of the widget on touch
New version released for your pleasure
Changelog
1.2:

- Possibility to hide widget on WidgetLocker unlock (such as HTC Sense lockscreen does it) - please note that it might be delayed
- Possibility to reveal the hidden widget on touch for a while

thanks, works great.
still keeping music-mod 1.7.5.2 though, because it acts more stock than 1.8.
i did notice the widget interferes with itself, but it's not that big of a problem.
when you use the widget on multiple screens(so either on 2 homescreen pages, or on your homescreen and on widgetlocker) pressing play/pause on one of the widgets doesn't trigger a hide/reveal on the other.
but i think fixing that would require an underlying service which would also mean redoing a lot of your work.
Yeah, unfortunately, the widget is not designed for more than one instance :-(. But sice it's designed specifically for WidgetLocker, I guess you can just use some full-featured widget (Pure Music, Music Mod, etc.) in your launcher, just as I do .
Awesome stuff. I actually thought of this a while back but I can't program for toffee - really cool to see someone else came up with the idea
Thank you.
i like it's new look. hope that in near future that it can change its background to transparent. and not working on stock music player on galaxy S

Hi, I have Samsung and widgetlocker (currently uninstalled because of previous battery life issues, but it's been a few months so I should test again), so I'm interested in this but obviously not able to help with feedback. I thank you for getting on the Samsung coding.
I do have two questions, what happened with the widgets with playback in your pocket and why? Was your phone/screen activating itself/turning on > your leg would touch the widget > suddenly have music playing? Am I understanding correct?
Second, and I think this is a dumb question, but I'll ask anyways. This will take up the space for the widget whether the widget is hidden or not, right? So, nothing could be underneath (probably a bad term) which will be in the foreground when the widget is hidden, right? I think that's maybe impossible, but definitely cool if possible, I'd have no problem with this going on top of something like power control when I have music on. Just a dumb thought.
Can't wait to try it out.
randomelements: Thanks. I actually thought about this for a while, but it took me some time to get my ass up and code it .
munwaioblivious: There will be possibility to turn the background off. I did not even want it there, but it seemed to be a good way to support all possible wallpapers for the beginning. However, I am still clueless about the Samsung player.
alovell83: The problem was, that my phone kept waking itself up via buttons and when the display was up, it had no hard time to control the playback. So i was just pressing Play/Next in my pocket by my leg. To address your other question: it is not possible to cover one widget with another. The slots (4x1) are taken all the time, even while the widget is hidden.
Make it compatible with winamp and a bit darker background and it will fit perfect with minimalistic text widget
AFAIK Winamp still does not have any open service interface :-(. However, backgrounds will be a little more variable in following versions.
I was working on a minimalist look on my phone and couldn't find a proper widget for the music player. Stock widgets and Pure Music weren't enough.
So in the end, I had to wait 24h to find a solution. What took you so long ?
THANK YOU, this is perfect !
beyondpod
I use beyondpod for my podcasts.
Can your widget control beyondpod too? I would love that functionality...
Will keep an eye on this, need it working with PowerAmp!

MinimalLock is simple concept. It has no buttons or sliders, using solely gestures to handle your music controls, sms and call notifications and of course unlocking your phone.
It can display sms or call notification in the form of a contact picture as depicted above. When a notification is tapped it can open directly to the sms thread, show a quick preview or simply dismiss it.
It also has music controls which supports a variety of music players including PowerAmp, DoubleTwist, Winamp, PlayerPro, Google Play Music, Amazon MP3, MIUI, Apollo and many more.
Feature filled and minimalistic. Simple.

Nice work!! The lockscreen is looking good actually. I could see my battery status, time and operator name. Very nice. Love it.
Few UI improvements required,
1. Need to have help screen text.(Even I don't know how to use this. Please provide some more info regarding how to use gesture)
2. The settings screen could be improved more.
3. Could provide some option to select the features to be displayed in lock screen.
This app collides with native lock screen. Need some focus over there.
Appreciate your work
This is simply beautiful, but you might want to work on how it the music data is pulled?
On my Sony Xperia S (not necessarily sure whether or not this is related to my ROM or not) using the stock (Sony) music player, it'll come up as "Null - Null" for all my songs...
Apart from this, it's an absolute beauty to use...
Have yet to test missed calls though, but messages work perfectly.
Nice work mate. Need to work over few issues. But it's perfect looking lock screen. Back button kills lock screen. Even if I unlock the system lock is still showing.

I'll see what I can do, the issue with this is theres no official way to pull music info so it depends on the player to broadcast an intent to say if a track is playing or has changed,, I'll see if I can find one for the Sony music player.. Calls in now fixed along with a few others, I'll upload a new release later on today once I've had time to test it.

By system lock are you referring to a pin/pattern or just the normal slider? And back button does, I thought I had fixed that I'll do it for the next release.
Appreciate the feedback guys keep it coming
New Release is up, Changelog:
MinimalLock no longer shows up in running apps
Call notifications not always showing bug fixed
Battery status doesn't always update bug fixed
Back button no longer unlocks the screen
Added support for many more music players
MinimalLock wasn't properly checking if the screen is locked bug fixed

Good app!!
New version's up.. fixed a bunch of bugs and made a bunch of optimizations.. changelog in the 2nd post would appreciate some feedback.. thanks
Great app. It works great and looks real good except for one thing. It does not replace my normal sense lockscreen, so I have to unlock twice. That's for the latest version, the first one does it. I'm on an unrooted HTC DHD, on gingerbread. Keep up the good work.

Ok.
Dark Theme doesn't work - having it enabled makes the lock screen appear, but it'll be completely devoid of any information that would appear if the setting was off. I.e., Time / Network appear with Dark theme OFF, don't with it ON.
Though you have fixed the null void bug, now it doesn't fetch song titles / artists at all, nor is it replaced with a placeholder text - THIS DOESN'T BOTHER ME. It adds to the minimalism of the lock screen. But if you still want, I could give you the apk / name if you so desire.
There is a buggyness with the lockscreen as a whole. I'm going to assume that its tied to the Android OS having a native setting enabled? Like, you can't have "None" as a security option and have Minimal Lockscreen just work? Because, that's what's happening to me, unfortunately. I'll have to unlock your lockscreen, then do the android OS's one; quite annoying.
*Edit* I seem to recall that the first version did this - this is probably the only gripe with the application honestly. Revert this, and you have something that's solid.
Another thing, the settings menu, though this is just me nitpicking, when I switch tabs, from settings to the "cosmetic" (for lack of a better word) tab, the screen will redraw the homescreen and flash between the selected tab and the homescreen for about 0.5ms. Similarly, I've noticed that on occasion, the lockscreen (your one) will fail to deploy, and when for example I'm going through my application drawer, the same redraw / flashing will occur.
Apart from that, it's quite good.
Maybe consider incorporating an alternative way to unlock it, or the ability to unlock from the "music" sub gesture menu? Possibly a vertical swipe? It's sorta tedious turning on your phone, double tapping, swiping till you get to a song, double tapping, then swiping again

I'm also HTC user. Got the same issue mentioned above.
1. In case of HTC, it would be nice if native lock screen is disabled. As of now, I have to unlock twice.
2. Not sure, this is related to my ROM. After swiping to unlock, there is some delay (~2sec) to launch the HTC lock screen.
3. In App settings, while switchover the tabs, have some kind of animation. It would be like to have normal transition (eg: youtube)
4. When music player is running in background, its not displayed in the lock screen(Could any other HTC users confirm?)
5. Yes, Dark theme doesn't work.
6. Contacts are not displayed in lockscreen. Does this app automatically pulls up top recent contact from contact history?
Since its beta, hope this this app would be released with stable full functional in near future.
Really it's great app. Thanks for your wonderful time in hearing the feedback from users.
Good luck dev!!

Thanks for the feedback. I'll look into the random redrawing and I'm aware of the bug with it not showing if you don't have a default lock screen and will fix this in the next release.
Also I added an unlock gesture to the music screen, swipe down, I thought I put that in the changelog maybe I forgot..

If someone can give me the package name of their HTC music app I'll try and get the info showing..
As for the contacts on the lockscreen it shows missed call or sms contacts.. not frequent contacts..
The dark theme makes the text black so if (like me) you use a dark lockscreen you won't be able to see it..
New version is up.. reverted some changes so lockscreen should now be used if you disable the native one.. couple of other changes too..
"Note: Dark theme makes the text black so if you are using a dark wallpaper you won't be able to see it. It DOES work."

Review:
Phone Arena Short Review
thanks in particular @CedArctic for his awesome review
Please consider this is a Beta and my first app, bugs could occurs
Suggestions and bugs report are very very welcome !
Enjoy !
Screenshot Attached:
more screenshots in play store link (screens are a bit outdated, in current application you can find more material design )
Positives: Really nice app for the first beta, I like the option to customise the Action Bar colour (and yes it's called action bar not title bar) and it's very fast and smooth, and it has a few nice features.
Negatives: At the moment is very unstable and crashes a lot as you leave the app, the app isn't translated to English properly (few phrases missing) and on an HDPI device colours for the action bar are cut off on the right side (I've attached a screenshot), maybe you can make it scrollable.
Keep up the good work! :good:
Would be cool if you make your strings public so that the community can translate your app to other languages. Another thing is that I'm using Viper4Android equalizer and your app just creates a toast which says that I should restart my phone whenever I try to open equalizer settings.
NICE!
Great idea..
i like the UI
feature request
-swipe to change tracks.
-english translation
-ability too search all.. you wont need to go to the artist section to search for artist.. like that..
bugs
-there are some songs/artist/albums that is not appearing when searched.
-some tracks doesnt appear on the artist/abum
-it crashes too
overall good app
keep it up
sorry for my english not my first language
Thanks to all of you for trying my app, your feedback and report are really helpfull
At this stage it's clear it is too soon for a public release, but i would really appreciate if someone wants to help me testing the app so i can discover and fix bugs as soon as possible (when the app crash i receive logcat on my mail).

I'm noticing that the equalizer behaves in a strange way, this is caused by a lot of different equalizer (stock, viper4android, CyanogenMod, xposed framework, ...), implemented in custom ROMs, I'm trying to solve this problem (some bugs were fixed in 1.0. 7, try it)
hope we can browse songs by folder.
nice man! downloading now.
Sugestions if you want to make this the N°1 Android Player
- YouTube search and play video
Including playlist support
screen off/other aplication playback ( I Use "Freddi yt player" for this)
Pin videos (or audio download) for offline use
- Buit in Album art downloader and mp3 tag editor (I use mp3dit for this)
- Lyrics grabber (I used to use "lyrics" for this (stopped working))
Just play a music and with one click see the lyric
Sync All option for offline use
Button on the app and also on notifications for lyrics.
So,here we have 3 difference apps that could be just one,(also some new features for them) plus the stock music player
And would be "revolutionary" for non advanced users
Congrats for theming, also good musical taste

I downloaded your app today. It is very nice, with a cool interface. I liked it very much and will start to use it to see if I can spot some bugs.
I have a request. My phone is a Samsung with stock rom. I would like the app to have a lockscreen widget to control music, such as the one seen in one of your screenies. It is possible?
EDIT: by some random reason, the widget appeared.
The app keeps appearing in notification bar, even when it's inactive and don't playing music. Is there a way to get rid of this?
One sugestion:
Make a tab to see the music by the folders. The rocket player have this feature and it's only because of this that i use it. Seriously dude, add a tab of folders where we can see our music by folders and i will start using your app.
Songs are displayed alphabetically instead of by their track order. That's a major negative for me.
Feature request - smart shuffle = all songs until entire catalog is played, not the "random" shuffle nearly all players have, that cycles through the same songs over and over. The only player I've found that approaches this is just playlists. The shuffle Gods have long ago given up on us..
Sent from my LG-V510 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Looks promising, will definitely check it out. A couple of ideas or suggestions:
Does the player currently (or will it in the future) have the option to pull music from folders on cloud storage instead of on the device itself? It would free up a ton of storage space on our phones, for those that don't have much room for our massive playlists.
Also, is the album art downloaded and kept "post-song" in a file of some sort? If so, can the ability to enable or disable the album art download be added once the album art function is added in to the player? Again, just thinking of saving limited space 8)
EDIT: Also a big fan of suggestions of others! Swyping to skip forward or backward would be real nice feature, as well as the option of adding the lyrics to the app main page. An option for dark (Holo dark?) would be a nice touch as well.
great simple interface
Loved simple interface. And loved the feat "hide small audio files "... notification sounds wont play . Great idea
One suggestion after using player for 10 mins.
Can we add indivisual songs to the queu rather than the whole list of songs is played when a song is selected from the "songs" tab. In my view user wouldnt want to play all songs at any given time, rather music depends on time or affect and .. so many artist or album have songs we want to listen to a particular time.
Great for a Beta!
Suggestion: Add tab to browse music through folders and continuous gap-less playback would be great.
Cheers
Man you've already made me regeert buying another music player on Google past just a week ago! The interface is great, it has play next which a lot of apps don't have, you have a 3x 3 album grid which I find way better than both a 2 picture wide grid and a list. Also, you seem to be the only one that understands that text may be larger /longer than you screen permits, and you make the text scroll which I've asked developers of every music app I've tried to implement and the way the queue slides out is quite nice. Maybe a mini tutorial on the slide out menu would make it a bit more obvious that you can do that for less experienced users. I like how solid Explorer does that: just one picture with an arrow showing where you can slide.
I've got 1 small request though:
a dark theme, I use an amoled screen so that would save energy for me
Keep up the amazing work!

Thanks for keeping me motivated , appreciate your feedback.
Working fine on my UL40 (unrooted, Nougat, arm v7), but isn't coming up with a very large quantity of lyrics, even for obvious older hits. Well done developing the app & thanks. Hope to see more lyrics sources added in the future.
This will be a popular app!

I'm using bing search ( format: artist track lyrics) as the source of lyrics since lyrics apis are not free. If you know any let me know, I'll add it. Also its possible to add lyrics support for language other than english, as long as the source returns lyrics when passed artist name and track name.
Good to know about translations. I don't know of any free services; hopefully other users will be more help. I totally understand the financial side & I give you 5 stars simply for keeping it ad-free & no charge.
I look forward to seeing your app become popular. Putting the word out on Reddit & such will help.
Again, thanks.

Thanks mate! I've added google search option now which dramatically increases the lyrics fetch ratio. Once in a while the lyrics are incorrect but that's something I'll work on along with other improvements and features. Give it a try and let me know.
Hey mate. Your app looks really good. But unfortunately my device isn't compatible with the app as I'm on Lollipop right now. Could you do something with it? I'm really grateful if you can. Thank you

I would love to make it compatible upto kitkat sometime in future. I'm currently focussing on improving things that work and adding features, which is more than enough work for my weekends. Minimum api level supported is 23 for now.

Can't install or update when using Nougat 7.1.1. App gets frozen with the 'needs permissions' notification. Also has a different signature. Why?

Not exactly sure why. Signature should be same, haven't changed anything. Are you installing it from play store or XDA ? Try clear data, uninstall and then install.
I think if you are trying to install from play store and try to update from XDA then it will throw you that signature mismatch message.

Signature issue is correct (XDA vs Yalp) - just curious why. But I've tried a clean install already & no luck. Nougat makes permissions a pain - it only offers the storage permission setting, not the persistent notification setting. Any chance of bringing back the opening screen from the beta (where all 3 permissions are toggled)?

Not sure if bringing back the old style dialog screen will help you if you are having issue, the underlying code is exactly the same as before, I just moved them to the intro screen.

Got it working by manually setting the permissions; Nougat really makes setting persistent notification a hassle (the permission switch isn't located in the app permissions - you have to hunt for it elsewhere in settings).
Good work on the update - working flawlessly. Thanks as always!
wow. GREAT APP. THANK YOU

Thanks! I would appreciate if you could give me a rating.
AWESOME!
wow! it is really good!, just some of my songs are not the lyrics xD
i have the song of bullets from the rasmus and download me the lyrics of i dont know who! but it is good! hahahahaahah so, thank you! thank you so much!
Nice app! Can you add an option to sync the lyrics with the song? Like Musixmatch. Not just to show the lyric, also going along with the song.
Idk if I explained myself well lol.
Although, thanks again for your amazing work.

I understand what you are saying. For me to add the lyrics sync option, I'll need the lyrics with time data (which is basically .lrc format), though the app already supports this format, the source to get those lrc format lyrics are not freely available, some available ones doesn't work. And I'll not be able to pay those hefty fees.
As a workaround, you can manually download lrc file for the song and place it in 'OneLyrics' folder in your phone and rename the file to match the corresponding txt file.
Hope you understand. And I'll really appreciate if you could write a review.
Hi, first of all thank you for this app, it's simple and very intuitive, I just loved it. I wonder if it's possible to add an option to copy the lyrics... It would be really helpful for when you want to post it somewhere, I do this a lot and for me it's the only thing missing.
