Keytrace 2.2.1 - Verizon Droid Charge

Hello,
I have rooted my phone and noticed a application listed in titin backup keytrace 2.2.1 what is this application?

It comes with Samsung's TouchWiz UI, but I have no clue what it actually does. I think it may relate to the Swype keyboard.

Stock froyo keyboard on HTC 2.2 update

How do I install the stock keyboard from froyo on the new update? I can't seem to get sense to force quit and clear defaults. It just automatically reloads.
I'm having the same problem I frickin can't get sense to quit.
are you trying to install the stock 2.1 keyboard on 2.2, cuz i havent seen a 2.2 keyboard apk around here, unless i missed it
I was wondering the exact same thing...the stock 2.2 keyboard without sense is much better than the sense keyboard

Stock Galaxy/Touchwiz browser on DX/Milestone 2?

Is there anyway I can install the stock android browser touchwiz edition from the Galaxy S onto my Droid X? I was using my friends T-Mobile Galaxy S and really loved the browser interface vs the stock one on my Droid, so I thought since that is just a skinned/modified stock browser that it would not be that much work to install on a rooted device? Any help would be cool. Thanks a biz.
Somebody please?
Anybody please?
Please anyone can help me here?
Yeah, I would like this for the MT4G. I like the text input on the Samsung Vibrant's browser better. It brings up an actual window to type into.
anyone please?
I will donate 3 bucks to see this happen.
It's most likely not possible due to all TouchWiz apps actually needing... Well, TouchWiz. It's very deeply rooted in the system and is (was, it's a lot better since 2.2.1) a real slow pain in the ass.
So unless someone ports the whole TouchWiz over to the DX (it's not going to happen, the DX and D2 both have locked bootloaders, you can't replace the kernel), this won't work.
So, even though it just a skin and a small adjustment on the stock browser it won't work on my device because it requires touchwiz? Same goes for the HTC browser which is stock also but with better navigation controls?
I'm not sure about the Sense Browser, but I am pretty sure Sense is more than just as skin as well, just as TouchWiz (altho it works a lot better). So yeah, either the whole thing is ported (which is basically impossible) or nothing.
On a sidenote, you might want to check out the Opera Mobile (not Mini) Browser. It can't do flash as of now but it's in the works. Other than that, it has all the features the Galaxy S stock browser has and runs very smooth. It also opens up a new panel upon text input, which is really handy.
Yeah but it wastes a bit more space and speed isn't as good as the stock. I just want the stock browser with a back button in the menu bar. Hitting the softkey back to go to the previous page can be annoying if it backs you out of the browser by mistake.
anyone please?

Repeatedly asking for it won't make it more possible.
No but bumping a thread could bring it back up for a budding developer to take on the task and try it.

[Q] run froyo or gingerbread apps in honeycomb?

Can you run ANY 2.2 or 2.3 apps in Android 3.0? For example, do they have the same Android market?
Thanks

Yes, for the most part, the same apps show up in the market. They still work, but aren't optimized for the tablet's screen space.

They don't use the same API's that the Honeycomb apps can use, but I've seen some apps for froyo and gingerbread that look good on the bigger screen. Android is similar to webos in the way that apps can scale themselves based on screen size vs the iphone apps that are made for the smaller screen or larger screen.
Some apps, like Pandora, lose no functionality and work just fine, but have images or fixed pixel sections which don't scale correctly. It's the same on a 2.2 based tablet as well though.
The only app i tried that i ever had to force close was RAC traffic,
It was widgets i had an issue with, they either didn't update or looked really small.

Android Keyboard for GB? (Not Multitouch)

So I was wondering if anyone has been able to load the Android Keyboard (AOSP?) on their phone running GB. I like this keyboard for a number of reasons, but mainly the fact that it auto-corrects some words automatically that the multi-touch keyboard does not for some reason.
For example:
- If I type im, it auto corrects it to I'm.
- If I type wer, it auto corrects it to we're.
- If I type il, it auto corrects it to I'll.
I know most of you think this might be a bit silly, but I got used to this keyboard and typing this way before GB, and believe it or not these little shortcuts allow you to type/text a lot faster on the phone.
Last night I flashed my phone from CM4DX back to Official GB, and I tried flashing the keyboard being used with CM7 (Android Keyboard) but it won't work on GB. Not only does it not work, but I have now lost the Multi Touch keyboard and I can't seem to get it back unless I do a factory reset. I'm currently using Swiftkey X, but I still don't like it as much as the original Android Keyboard.
If anyone can help I'd really appreciate it.
Thanks in advance.

This is the Gingerbread keyboard in an apk. You can install it along side your current system keyboard.

[Q] Getting rid of TouchWiz & Samsung UI

Hey everyone,
I love my Infuse but the only thing is I absolutely HATE TouchWiz. I love HTC's Sense but unfortunately AFAIK there isn't a way of getting that on here.
Anyways back to my main point, what is the easiest way to get rid of TouchWiz and Samsung's Dialer, E-Mail Client and SMS Client? I much prefer the stock Android version of everything so if someone could please point me in the right direction that would be great.
My phone IS rooted BTW incase that makes things easier
Thanks!
CM 7 is in the process of being ported to the infuse, check the development section - still doesn't have all bugs worked out yet, but that's your only alternative to TouchWiz

Until CM7 is available you could change the launcher and use market apps to do SMS, Email, etc...
Just delete/move or freeze the APKs using a root-enabled file explorer or Titanium Backup. Then you can install some alternative apps, lockscreens, and launchers.
Alternatively, you might want to check out some of the ROMs in the dev section. You can easily get a close-to-AOSP feel with Infused v2 and the lockscreen addon.
Yeah I'm always watching the CM7 thread to see what's new, etc.
Am I able to get the AOSP APK's for the dialer, sms and e-mail from somewhere? I would change my launcher but without the AOSP APK's I don't see the point
I am currently on Infused V2 with the lockscreen addon, just want to get rid of the Samsung feel ;-)
Thanks for everyone's help!
the dialer and contacts would be difficult to permanantly change. way back designgears tried an aosp look rom for the captivate and he wasn't able to change the dialer. you can get go contacts/dialer which is a single app much like aosp with added features and is themeable.
you can change the sms to aosp I believe but I'm not sure why you'd want to, it is really limited. there are many market apps you can use. go sms pro and handcent are very popular.
and there are many launcher in the market for you to choose. the gingerbread one from Eugene373 is same as gtg puts in his roms I believe.
I guess I will just wait until CM7 is all ready
I like simplicity, I think the Samsung SMS, E-mail and dialer are way too bloated. I look at it this way, if the main used functions of my phone are simple and basic then I won't have too many problems with the phone with daily use.

well it sounds like you might like go dialer/contacts then, it has some additional features but isn't very complicated at all. only issue is that every time it gets upgraded the defaults get cleared and you need to set them back to go contacts for like 4-5 different scenarios. it is a good app but the defaults system on android can get annoying. and I do believe aosp sms will work on this phone, just haven't seen it tried. it was done many times on the sgs phones because earlier versions of tw sms had weird problems with the time stamps, especially on custom roms, that and the theme was pretty gross.
Well I know SMS is possible for sure because I was using Refuse 1.7 before I upgraded to Infuse and it has the AOSP SMS which was nice
Hopefully CM7 gets finished up sooner than later
As mentioned, you have many options in the market...
popular launcher apps
go launcher
zeam launcher (i use on nook)
launcher pro (i use on infuse)
adw launcher (have on my son's phone)
android 2.3 launcher
SPB Shell 3D (looks like an amazing launcher)
and more
sms
chomp
go
handcent (i use)
and more
Dialers
I rarely make calls so I have not really looked into changing the dialer.
