Had issues with BAMF 2.0-5 Camcorder, it was force closing when I tried to complete a recording. I tried 3 different Sense 3.0 cameras and the Sense 2.1 camera with the same results each time. I flashed back to 2.00-4.01 and have zero issues with the Sense 3.0 camera and camcorder. I had already done the Netflix install on 4.01, is there anything in 5.0 I need anyway? I guess I will wait for the next one to see if it fixes my issues.
I even clear data/cache and installed 2.0-5 multiple times, and the camcorder never worked, always FC on finishing the recording.

Cleared data from the camera? Also I'm not sure what kernel came stock with other versions but maybe the latest kernel caused your camera to be buggy too. Might wanna try a different kernel.

Have the same FC as well. Hopefully there is a fix soon!
same thing here i can take pictures fine with me being overclocked at 1.4 max and 764* (not sure if that is the exact number) with no lag or any issues except no burst mode...but to the point i have no video camera capabilities no matter what settings i select*(i havent tried any smaller resolution than widescreen and i see no reason to because my stock thunderbolt could do 720hd anyways...so yeah i hope that there is a fix for this because i use my camera and camcorder at least three times a day.
Yeah I tried diferent kernels. Actually on my first install I went with the test7 kernel that is used on 4.01, and I thought it was the issue. So I wiped and reflashed and went with the included test2 kernel with the same results.
someone posted an APK to a camera that worked... Good luck finding it though lol...

I just tried this also and I get a force close as well. It acts as though it is recording the video just fine but when you go to stop recording is when i get an error - Sorry!
The application Camera (process com.android.camera) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.
Got FC on three different clean Rom flashes. But its ok on 4.01. I mean flashing, skipping setup, going right to camera and FC on video, right when you hit the record button the second time to stop recording.
Try something.
Delete the vdd settings under (be careful) in system/etc/init.d/01_vddlevels.
Then reboot.

I'm probably a moron, definitely still fairly new but I did purchase and download Root Explorer and when opening that file in text i do see the settings now that you mentioned under (be careful). However I'm unable to edit because the file is marked read only and when I go to Permissions to change it, it won't let me, telling me 01vdd_levels permissions cannot be changed because the file system is read-only.

When you're in /system/etc/init.d you see the "mount r/w" button in the top right corner? Press that to mount r/w.
Thank you. That did allow me to access the file and I did delete the settings under (be careful), this also did not work for me. Still get the same Force Close error when cancelling the recording.
Mine does record the video but I still get the FC when stopping.
I think if your using the sense 3.0 camcorder I know your issue. If you selected the full 1080p option it will cause the camcorder to close each time. The highest resolution the camcorder on the thunderbolt is 720. Choose the 720 option and then give it a shot.

After reading a thread on here before about this is (which i cannot find again) I decided to get to work to make this work, and after a little bit of poking about i managed to get it to work!
The app is now on the market! either search for "xperia play camera" or you use this link https://market.android.com/details?id=seb.camera.mod&feature=search_result.
The instructions are now obsolete but im keeping them there for completeness.
Installation Insturctions
1. Backup the original camera application with a root application manager e.g. titanium backup
2. Then delete the original camera app
3. Reboot your phone
4. Install the .apk from below
If you have a previous version installed you do not need to delete the old one or reboot just install as you would any other app
Version history
v5 - fixed remaining issues this is the final version as of time of writing please report any issues.
v4 - fixed video mode and added non root version
v3 - pictures now taken on release of R1 and menu position fixed
v2 - Decreased menu size by about 40% and fixed minor graphical glitches with menus
v1 - Original release, has VERY large menus
Hope you guys like it!

Currently the shutter button on the screen remains highlighted until you tap the screen, not a big issue but its one I didn't have time to resolve, maybe later.
To install the app (.apk attached) you need to remove the one that came with the phone and then install this one, I would recommend backing up the original first too.

Works like a charm ! thanks
Now going to update the original post with v2 that fixes the graphical glitches with the on screen hud. The pop-up menus have been decreased in size but still remain larger than the insanely small ones the original menu had. This version can be installed over the top of v1 like a normal app with no fuss.
good job !!
but how can i move libs to system files?
Great app! Works like a charm. Thanks for the great work.
My suggestion: I don't know what everyone thinks about this, but would it be possible to make it so that the app only focuses pressing down but doesn't take the actual photo until you release your finger (it would kind of mirror the shutter button on the screen).
Some advantages that would come from this would be being able to focus and then reframe, as well as timing shots better.
Thx bud works so much better now...I really disliked touching the screen to take pic.

Good job but a few issues...
1. Is it me or so images taken this way seem to be blurrier than when taken with the stock camera app?
2. Why is there a gap between the menu bar, and the portion with the shutter button and the camera mode selector?
3. It seems to me that the menu, when clicked on it, seems as if the options are very blurry?
Nhialor
Also, remove the on screen shutter button.

I love CM7 and want to go back to it ASAP, and don't even care about the little bugs it has, and also don't care about the 1080P soft reboot issue either. Everyone says you can just set the video recorder to 720P and it should work fine right? Well, when I set it to ANY settings, the video comes out all distorted and weird looking??? Is it because the only way to record is in wide (sideways/landscape)?? Please someone tell me how the heck do you record (and playback) in 720P on CM7 SelfKang.
Really??? Not one reply??? So does everyone on CM7 just never use their camcorder? Ya gotta love the support on here.

Actually bro, I've wondered the same thing. I love CM7 for all it has to offer. Great ROM and great speed. I don't usually use the camera much, but, the other day I was toying with it, and I've read all the threads in regards to the 1080p issue and thought about simply changing it to 720p. Simple right? Or you would think so anyway, well, I still haven't found how to exactly, however, I have used the camera after setting it to high(30m), under the high setting and haven't rebooted yet. I've also just noticed that the zoom doesn't appear to be working. I'm on the sensation super CM7 rom, but both under the same framework? one would think so anyway.. if you find a solution, please post!

Thank you, finally a response. I have never gotten zoom to work either? Everyone says you can tap to zoom, but it does nothing for me. My issue is still how to get the video camera to work. Every video looks as if it's clear, but it looks all tilted and weird. I hope someone else responds with the magic answer. I have asked this question a couple times and nothing. I know someone has this down pat, they have to. Is this some deep dark hidden secret??

I am using the Tiamat kernel and can easily record over 3 minutes with no soft reboots and that is in 1080P. Now the video comes out all distorted and upside down!
So I went into system with file manager and did what is recommended over in the CM7 thread and that is to go into System\ETC and edit media_profiles.xml and change the 1920x1088 settings to 1280x720 save exit from file manager and reboot.

Do you know if it's also ok to change the duration to more than "60"? Something like 3hrs so... "180"? As long as the space was available on the sd card. I just prefer to close it when i'm ready.
Also maybe changing the fps from 30 to 60? Heh, I'll probably try it anyways, doubt it would blow up the phone. But first yes, thanks, it's nice having 720p working.

Extremely Buggy
Will be my favorite camera app when it works. All kinds of problems. Sometimes clearing the data works, but the next time I want to use it, I have to clear the data again. But even so, it may or may not work... If you open the picsphere deal, then close it, and try to open it again, it won't open. The settings allow you to change them, but they don't change the image at all (unless the data clearing works...). It also should allow us to save to SD card. I use the version(s) deployed with CM Nightlies. I wish they would give this some love... They may be working on it, however, the change logs don't reflect any updates... Please make this app stable!
Using CM10.2 Nightlies on Sprint Galaxy S 4...

Great beta app! This will be great when completed! I just downloaded the beta from the play store (since it's not included in CM any longer) and it's still super buggy... So, is there any recommended course of action to clear any data that may cause issues for users? I read somewhere to simply clear the data via app settings and reboot, but it didn't help with my in-app settings issue. Basically, I can change the exposure setting, yet the image does not change at all. I also attempt to change the white balance, yet the change never applies to the image. Every once in awhile, the app will mysteriously work, until I close out of that particular instance. Then it reverts to the preformentioned state...
I've been hesitant to make this my default camera because I kept having issues with it and photo sphere is broken. ;/

Also when u hit the video button it starts recording instantly instead of having to switch to video and then hit record.

I installed CM12, but I'd like to port the stock Camera app form Alcatel.
Does someone know how to do this ?
Thanks
