Sorting out the wallpaper blur issue...I think I got it. - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So....I'm trying to sort out why the "tree" wallpaper from Asus looks so good and everything I get from the web just doesn't look as good.
I think I found a solution...at least it seems like it is...
check out the link below...there are 3 wallpapers I got off the web.
I put them in Photoshop...and shrunk them down to the template size that someone posted here...and sharpened them up, and increased the saturation in PS also.
And they look good on my TF EVEN when using the gallery cropping tool...
boats and water.png is exactly the same size as the template
boats and water 2.png is shrunk so you can see the whole picture unfortunately with black on top and bottom, the app area and widget area look black.
City.png is the same size as the template.
check each out and tell me what you think...

Nobody wants to try them and see if they look good on their machine?

The blurry issue was already solved. It's simply people using images that are below the minimum wallpaper resolution which means they get scaled up.

I tried the boat one and it does look good, no blur or stretching. Something you could do in the black area is just some white text. Maybe "Applications" and "Widgets" or something...

Wallpaper question.

I have this cool pic that is sized at 480 x 800 which is the exact size of the phone, however, when I go to the gallery, it only lets me crop a small box part of the picture. How can I choose the entire picture so it won't look pixelated?
You need to use wallpapers that are 960x800 so that the homescreens can scroll back and forth.

Give us a link to check so we can see for ourselves.
Could it be that the site you're on is seeing that you're on a mobile device and not offering up full resolution images?
here is the link
http://thundafunda.com/wallpaper-blog/blog/hd-wallpapers/
are you tethering? or just from on the device?
one of the Androidandme.com guys posted on twitter saying that when he was tethering his NS the images on his laptop appeared way compressed

Okay, I just looked at that site on both my MacBook Pro (Chrome and Safari browser) and the phone.
Using the park bench in the snow as a sample, it zooms in pretty butt ugly pixelated on both screens. That image is only 600x450 to begin with.
Using the yellow and black starburst 1600x1200 image on both, it zooms in very nicely.
I think it's just a matter of too small a resolution image being zoomed in too tightly. Should the phone (or laptop) do some kind blending to smooth things out...?
oh i see~~ because I saw sb said when using NS, ths SMS? image becone blurry

Well, that was a totally different issue, and it's been corrected by T-Mobile/Google.
If I recall correctly, that had something to do with T-Mobile service not recognizing the phone properly, so T-Mo was compressing the MMS pics too much on the server side. Seems to be a common thing with T-Mo and new devices they don't launch on their own (according to what I've read).

I have the same issue with the grapic glitches on the widgets -change my live wallpaper from weather to grass for the night changed it back to the weather today seems ok ---you can use a 3rd party app to take a screen shot drocap/shoot me etc search screen shots in market ---really don't thing there is much you can do if it is an issue with the device maybe get a replacement or hopefully an ota update will fix
shoot me - requires root right?!
just use ur digitial camera.
there's one or two threads about this already. general consensus is that the widgets don't know what to do with higher resolution. don't know if search is working right now but the threads are out there

Live Wallpaper Request (The Walking Dead)

Hi... first of all I'd like to mention that I tried a couple of searches to check if there is a thread specific for LWP requests but haven't found any yet... if there is one and I missed, I'm sorry and please redirect me to the correct place. :good:
Moving on... I've searched all over for The Walking Dead live wallpapers and can't seem to find any. I also tried to see if there was a way to make them myself but honestly I'm not that tech-pro, so no go on that plan either. What I've done is cut the two clips that I was thinking on using for my wallpapers and place them a zip file in the hopes that someone out there might want to help me. I'm not sure if I should've done it like I did (quicktime video) of by doing a PNG sequence... if that would be better please let me know. I'm using a Walking Dead lockscreen image (I'll post the image here as well), so my idea was to have that lockscreen and when I unlock, the live wallpaper comes in with the zombie moving there. Anyways... I'd appreciate any help on this.
Ohhh I so want that too great idea. I'd there a way we can have one wallpaper set up for the lock screen, and a different one for the home screen? I mean you could probably use a lock screen replacement.

Yeah... sorry I think I might've not explained myself very well on that part. I actually AM using the app widgetlocker and at this present time do have a lockscreen wallpaper and a completely different homescreen wallpaper set up. My insterest is mostly in being able to get that The Walking Dead Live Wallpaper done. I think i'd look cool with the "Do not open, dead inside" lockscreen and then when I unlock the phone there's the zombie moving in the Live Wallpaper.
Thx

Not a true LWP, but you could get an equivalent look with Video Live Wallpaper
I can't make a live wallpaper or I'd help you out but could you post the pic you're using as your background? That's awesome I'd love to change my lock screen image and that would be great.

Thanks... looks like that did the trick.. It'd be nice to have an actual apk for the wallpaper, but until then I think Video Live Wallpaper should work, I'll just have to monitor how it affects my battery...
@dcwiker05, I attached the pics I've used...

Small problem with Note 10.1 homescreen

My home screen has a black band running across the top off it. Its like the picture slipped down an inch. Only homescreen though, every other screen is fine. Same happens no matter what picture I have on it. Any ideas? I can't post a pic of it yet cause I'm a noob
Edit: Stock wallpapers don't do it, they go full screen. Only my downloaded pics and photos have the black band
