Every so often I see this message on my transformer. I have no idea what widget/app is causing it. I'm a newbie to Android - can someone suggest how I can find out what is responsible?
Thanks
I get the same message - I though maybe it was the weather widget but can't be sure.
Yeah, that was my gut instinct. Is wonder if there is a way to log these things so we know for sure
adb logcat
Yup - twas the weather widget for some reason.

Hope it is not the wrong area to ask.
Starting from two days ago the weather of genie widget is not working, it supposed to show the hourly report when sliding the bar, but nothing changed when I slide now
My phone is SGS vibrant and the genie widget is download from somwhere, I tried reinstall, find a new one and install and it doesn't work
Any idea?
Pump, no one get this problem?
Same problem here... tried reinstalling but no luck...
I really love that weather chart so plz if someone know how to fix it help me : ~(
If it doesn't get fixed, whats a good replacement?
Yes is there any replacement, i tried beautiful widget but it takes me to the browser for the hourly report which is kinda stupid...
same here
same problem here... news updates fine but the weather chart (when you click the i), is funky... not showing the full days (24 hr) chart like usual, just an odd time like 1 hrs worth.
I love the genie widget and want it to work!
any advice?
There is a ' Google employee's in Google mobile forum said they r looking in it
be sure to report fixes or what a user might have done to break the hourly view. I love the app for that hourly view.
OK it is fixed now try stop the running service and replace the widget again

That worked for me
Strange- For some reason I can no longer open a link in an email. I tried in gmail and in Yahoo mail with my maildroid client. When I click the screen darkens (not completely) but nothing else happens. I tried a reboot but other than that I am at a loss.
Anyone have a clue?
Yeah, it's the list chooser 3.2 bug or whatever you want to call it. All you have to do is rotate the screen and the list chooser will appear. Make sure you have rotate screen checked on in the settings.

Yes, that did it. I hadn't heard about that one. Kinda sucks. So if I choose a default action I won't have the problem?
Thanks
That's correct because it won't invoke the popup list chooser or whatever you call it. Some things that bring it up you will have to do that with if it doesn't appear.
beats me a how they can put out an update with error like that. they have field testers? Anyway, thanks for the info!
It's because were in a tablet war right now and it's who can get the best out the first. Android figures they can drop Honeycomb on us and pick up the little things along the way. Little things may seem trivial but I consider nothing trivial. It's the little things that make the whole.
Anyways, glad your back up and going.
I just searched the forum for this but came up empty. I am constantly getting a system message saying "refesh failed". I tried uninstalling some likely apps and disabling auto update on others to no avail. I asssume something is wasting system resources and i would like to correct it. Is anyone else getting this or have an idea of what app or service I should suspect?
Thanks
Same here. No idea what causes it.
In my case it has been caused by the Asus Weather Widget

Same here. Its when, for some reason, the widget isnt able to connect to update. Lose the widget and it goes away.
Same thing here. I can't figure out what makes the widget not be able to update (it happens when I have a great wifi signal), but once it does, it's like the TF decides never to update again -- I'll get the error midday, and by dinner it still has not updated.
So wait, that would mean that its trying to update even when not being used because I'm not even using it and I get the same message. I use Beautiful Weather instead. Are you sure its not something else that's causing it?

Same here. I was getting it when I was using the Asus Widget and still now with the Beautiful Weather Widget.

Place the asus weather widget on your desktop, then open it and from the options put the update frequenzy on manual and delete the widget. After that I havent received any error messages anymore.
I get his message as well. Very annoying, especially when you're reading an ebook. Will remove the weather widget.
tought it was my e-mail account thanks for this
Do you know how to remove the ASUS Weather Widget?

The weather widget was the first thing I took out but I didn't do as you suggest. Will try that now. Thanks

That's great, unless you still want an automatically updating weather widget on the desktop. Any ideas on how to keep the widget and fix the error?

Use
I'm guessing it is built into the rom so will have to be rooted to remove it. I'm not rooted yet but I system panel lite and don't see it active in there. Maybe if you put it back, disable all automatic behaviour, and then remove the widget the process will stop.

That seems to have done it. Thanks again.
Es-Task Manager
I experienced this same issue although the culprate for me was ES-Task Manager.
For me it was MyCloud
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using XDA Premium App
I still use the weather widget but I disabled the automatic location detection. I just defined it manually. Update is still automatic. No more issues...
Since updating to JB 4.2, ASUS's weather widgets no longer work for me when configured to use manual location search. Auto works OK, manual not so much. Anybody else seeing this same problem, or can confirm that it's not just me?
Me too...

Yes... sad to say, I'm in the same boat. The Asus widget is "iffy" at best. Getting it to go from C to F is also not working. I keep getting an error message saying "Refresh failed. Try later." Other weather widgets seem to work. So, I know it has to be the Asus widget itself.
Also had problems with the Asus Mail widget and it not notifying me when new mail comes in. But I think I fixed that by deleting my accounts, and re-entering them.

Hated the stock ASUS widget. So I disabled it.
I'm using the AcuWeather download + Widget. It's probably the best i've used. Set it to refresh every hour and it's not too much of a battery drain

Yep, same behaviour I'm seeing. Thanks for the confirmation, definitely looks like ASUS broke something.

Thanks for the tip, I'll give it a try!
Anyone else having an issue with the weather app. Pressing the weather widget on the home screen does a Google search for weather instead of launching the app.
Any fix or there? I searched Google and came up empty handed.
Thanks for any help
Peace
Not sure why it's happening, but it's not just you.

Edit: sorry, I misunderstood your question the first time. Try this: https://www.reddit.com/r/GooglePixel/comments/bg480o/at_a_glance_weather_not_working/elke3qx/
It's Google app beta version causing this. Opt-out of beta and it'll fix itself.
