[Q] Blocking Incoming Calls - Windows Phone 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, n00b here, I have a Samsung Omnia 7 with the nodo update.
is it possible to somehow block incoming calls and texts but still keeping data active?
i know theres flight mode but that turns off everything, is there a way to keep the data connection active?
i dont mind if its a paid app
thanks

I don't think this is possible until mango. First of all I seriously doubt that there's an appropriate API for this matter. Second is the lack of multitasking for third party apps. An app that controls incoming calls and/or SMS would have to stay active in the foreground in order to achieve that.

ahh I see, looks like Ill just have to use flight mode.
thanks

diverting texts

i wanna divert texts to another phone because trying to work an i mate jam when out on the piss is impossible but i have no idea how to do it any one know ??
As far as I am aware it's not possible to do what you're asking...certainly not at the moment. You can set up diverts on your phone calls in the phone / network settings, but the same does not apply to SMS, unfortunately.
Maybe this is an area where someone could develop an app - it's got some potential. Trouble is, I don't think there would then be a way to communicate the setting to O2 or whatever network provider the user is on through an XDA...so chances are you'll need to keep the phone on.

Forwarding SMS = Impossible
Hi,
There is no provision in the GSM standard to forward SMS from one service to another unfortunately.

Question about during 3G Data & Phone Call

Hi, I was able to use the 3G DATA and still able to receive the phone call with my old Hermer, can some one tell me what is the setting to make it both work at the same time in my HTC Touch Pro?

Yes, the phone can do both data and voice calls at the same time. Very useful for those long conversations with the girlfriend... I mean... :X
It seem like my touch pro won't be able to do the same time, any solution?
i've noticed the same problem with mine. when i'm youtubing i can't seem to receive calls. any idea?
H has to be active and established to do both. Wont work on Edge.

Tethering, Voice, and SMS questions

Hello everyone,
Is it possible to get some sort of notification that someone is trying to call while my Fuze is tethered on a non-3G network? For example, if someone tries calling, a program on the phone detects the call and notifies the user. Or, what kind of data can be sent while the phone is tethered on a non-3G network? Just SMS? Finally, I have read that as long as data is not actively being exchanged the phone will work.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
" tethered on a non-3G network?"
problem is that ever since gprs was invented it haven't
blocked for callers to be received thats why it was invented
apart from it's speed inc over normal gsm data modem
however if ones operator use old technology in their centrals
one get the problem you experience where data block calls
the issue being isolated to your isp rather then your phone
there really is no way for you to get an notification by the phone
as the phone never get any info from the central
personally gprs data never blocked a call or sms for me

I'm on AT&T so all my answer will be as I know on this network.
1) It will ring, hope that is notification enough.
2)All data, it is just like being online on a dial-up connection but a bit faster.
3) Phone works, HOWEVER, if it is not on 3g any calls will interupt the data flow. Meaning if you recieve a call it will disconnect your data connection. Voice overrides the data.
Ok, thanks for the information! I am on AT&T as well with the Fuze and mostly work on the Edge network. I noticed while doing some trial and error that the phone would ring or receive SMS only when data was not actively being transferred. That is why I was wondering if they made or program, or some notification system that would alert an incoming call or text.

Block all calls but still get notified

I was wondering if there is a method out there to block all incoming calls but still get notified about the number calling you?
I have a rooted S7 Edge if that makes a difference. I also have an iPhone 6 and would love a similar feature on it but I am guessing on Android it will be easier.
I am aware that I can use "Do Not Disturb" mode but then I don't really receive notifications about who is calling.
Thanks!

Mobile data disconnects during phone call

I use a virtual meeting app on Mate 8 to attend important meetings on the go. My problem is that mobile data (4G) diconnects if a phone call comes. It is really annoying for other participatents. Is there any way to keep mobile data on regardless of phone calls? Firmware version is L29C185B580

On 4G you're out of luck. There are currently almost no carriers supporting VoLTE AND the Mate8. So to be able to make phone calls and use data simultaneously you must switch to 3G or use a 3rd party VoIP-App.
