[Q] Will the i9023 slcd work with Telus in Canada? - Nexus S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello all,
About to purchase a Nexus S off of ebay, and I was wondering if it will work with my network. The seller says the model is i9023. Will this work?
Thanks!

Please help!!!

The specs I find by Googling the i9023 http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_google_nexus_s_i9023-3910.php show:
HSDPA 900 / 1700 / 2100
That means that it won't work on 3G on Telus. Sorry.
In Canada you could use that phone on Wind, Videotron or Mobilicity, in the US on T-Mobile.

[Q] Nexus S in Canada carriers question

Hi all,
I have this store near my place, he says that his nexus s can work on any Canadian carrier. He says that the nexus s is interchangeable between carriers in canada, that they all work on the same bands.
Is this true?
I am looking for one to work with my existing rogers 3G data/voice plan. He has one telus and one at&t nexus s.
Thanks
Heeter
Telus, Koodo, Rogers, Fido
ALL the SAME phone with the same bands SIM unlocked.
However...
WIND and Mobilicity use AWS so a standard US T-Mobile NS will only work on those networks. This is the same for Quebecor and Shaw (which has not launched yet). The 900, 1,00, and 2100 MHz 3G bands version is what is needed for these networks.
As posted earlier in the thread, Telus, Koodo, Rogers and Fido need the 850,1900 and 2100 MHz 3G Bands version.

[Q] [i9020] in Europe

Hello...
I just have a quick questions regarding the i9020 and 3G in Europe. This phone has 900, 17000 and 2100 mhz radios. So here in the USA it is meant for T-Mobile.
Will it get 3G in Europe? As far as I know Europe uses 900/2100 MHz for 3g, is that correct? So this phone should be all clear for that?
Thanks
yes, it should work flawlessly...

that thread didn't help. The frequencies are the same... still it won't work
If it works with Rogers/Fido/Koodo, it probably won't work with Mobilicity.
Could the i9023 UMTS spec in gsmarena be wrong? Or are there 2 variants for i9023?

Are you sure you have the i9023? If gsmarena specs were indeed correct, it should not have worked with Koodo 3G.
Check the IMEI label under the battery for the model number.

Keen eye. Because Koodo only has UMTS 1900
HSDPA 850 / 1900 / 2100 - i9020A for AT&T
HSDPA 900 / 1700 / 2100 - i9020T for T-Mobile
So what you would need for mobilicity is a i9020T... They're different hardware, not just a flash away.

Your i9020a supports worldwide 2G bands, and 3G bands for Rogers/Bell/Telus/Koodo (850/1900) as well as most Asian/European (2100) carriers.
If you want 3G 1700 (Wind/Mobilicity) support, trade for an i9020t.

iPhones would be similar to the i9020a. Works with big 3 and most Asian/European (3G 2100) carriers, including India's.
In fact, almost all 3G phones have 3G 2100 support. Buy any 3G phone in North America, unlock and usable in India.

As Nexus phones came SIM (carrier) unlocked, you can use it in India (2G or 3G).

If you are talking about Indian carrier, yes. For worldwide list of companies and their supported frequency, refer to
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_UMTS_networks
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mobile_Network_Code.
Your i9020a would have UMTS 850, 1900 and 2100 support.

Model N915W8 from Rogers, is it wind/mobilicity compatible??

I have a Samsung Note Edge model N915W8 I recently got it unlocked from Rogers but when I try to activate it on wind mobile the phone picks up as roaming based on the specs it should be AWS compatible anyone have their N915W8 running on wind or mobilicity?
Model n915w8 does not work with aws
That's weird since the specs say otherwise. I was hoping it was just a software thing blocking the baseband similar to the s4

Actually, unlike Note 4 N910W8, Note Edge N915W8 does NOT have 3G AWS band needed for Wind/Mobility.
3g umts(w-cdma) frequency: 850, 900, 1900, 2100 MHz
4g lte(lte-a) frequency: 700, 850, 1700, 1900, 2100, 2600 MHz
It does, however, have the AWS band (1700) for LTE. In theory, it should work once Wind gets LTE next year.
That was probably where I was erroneous with my thinking I saw the 1700 band but it was for lte not 3G thank you for the clarification your help is much appreciated
Physically have tested 3 units and none of them work.... I don't have the Platinum balls to drop the Qcn from N915T on N915W8.... it can cause major issues with network... also the Stock Rom is not up for N915W8 as well....
I can vouch that the n915t from T-mobile works on T-mobile (obviously), ROGERS LTE, Bell (Telus) LTE, Fido LTE, and WIND (no LTE but that other poster said they are getting it next year). I tell my friends get a T-mobile phone and unlock it since T-mobile has both sets of frequencies.

I checked both Rogers and Bell, both indicated that there's AWS (3G) bandwidth which makes the Edge should work with Wind. It could be the APN settings need some changes to it
