Still waiting - T-Mobile LG G2x

Still waiting on more development for the G2X, flashed the early release of Gingerbread and my facebook syncs don't work and neither did my gps, flashed Cyanogen and still had a few bugs and havent tried Bionix yet cause I don't like the all black theme. So I guess i'm patiently waiting for something to catch my eye.

And you started a thread just to tell us your still waiting? Lol you think anybody cares? There are a bunch of options out there to run most of which are amazing. Spend some time running the different roms and I think you would be pleasantly surprised that they are pretty bug free. It would have been a more rewarding time then making another I want more development thread.

What exactly did you hope to get out of this thread...?

Wow I can't believe you started a thread just to whine. When last time I checked, devs are not your employees or your slaves. If you don't like what's out there, tough, make something yourself.
To me, it seems like the rate of development is great compared to the time the phone has been out.

Really guys, calm down I was just expressing my feeling. You guys didn't have to reply to this either. I have been testing out other roms and these were my thoughts. Skyhigh2004, which rom are you currently running.

I'm running faux's aosp newest release and the ext 4 0.0.7 kernel. Smooth as butter, no lock ups, and everything that I have tried or needed works flawlessly. I have ran all of the roms on xda and I would also recommend bionix. I know you said you didn't like the theme but there is an optional stock Ginger theme in the theme section, its a really smooth rom. Try them out.

Sometimes, the responses I see on this forum are more ignorant/immature than the post they are pointing fingers at...

Just sit and hold your breath till a perfect rom comes out, seriously man how can you say you are waiting "patiently" when you start a new thread to complain....just run stock froyo! Or make your own rom!!!
G2X

Stock Gingerbread won't sync Facebook. Google did away with it. Only Custom roms will have this functionality.
As far as the theme, CM7 (and other custom roms) usually have built in Themes which you can download from the market and install. Changes the colors of the icons, notification bar, icons, etc.

Damn Google and fb must not be getting along

Hey I flashed faux's aosp also but what do you mean "and the ext 4 0.0.7 kernel" Doesn't flashing it change the kernel?

I meant I flashed the alternate ext4 0.0.7 kernel on top of the rom after it booted up and I waited ten mins. The rom itself as packaged is ext3. There is a seperate thread for faux's extra kernels.

Coming from the Vibrant where we had only 4 major devs (Team Whiskey, EDT, Eugene and Master) I think this phone is doing pretty good!
We already have 4 major devs (Team Whiskey, Team Shockwave, CM7 and Faux123) in one month! And I've seen two others saying they are making roms for it too, just have not release them yet! Forgot their names!!!
I think what we do need is more themes, but that's it!
.....

This is an asinine thread.

do a news search for google + facebook it seems facebook was caught trying to spread negative rumors about Google.
In other words facebook was talking **** and got caught lol
I haven't caught up on what happened but its not the first thing that makes it seem like they aren't playing nicely.I wonder if it also have to do with both google and facebook possibly becoming competitors in some of the same markets they are trying to expand into. what ever happened to the recently re-rumored facebook phone?

I wouldn't say its like cm7 it has a lot of different features, such as a fully customizable kernel (on EVO anyway; not sure if it'll be possible on NS4G). Very lightweight download, super fast. Not a lot of bulk like CM. I've used both CM and SZ for the EVO and id stand by SZ all day. Not knocking CM by any means though. Both are great ROMS. Just a matter of choice.

ok, ok. dont wanna argue. it obviously has the same features that set cm apart from aosp. hope to see this rom soon
OK, first of all, I need to point out that while SZ is NOT CM based, it does incorporate SOME of it's features. Both SZ and CM are based on Google AOSP code.
WiMAX is not a CM feature, it is Google code. We use the Google implementation of 4G in our ROM.
Other than the few CM mods we include, SZ has a set of it's own tweaks, mainly related to our tweaked kernel. We concentrate mostly on performance in our ROM, trying to made it less bloated and more stable than other AOSP variants. Right now, we have an extremely fast and stable 2.3.4 base which we will build an entirely different user experience on top of.
Our ROM does include the T-Mobile Theme Chooser so if you do not like our stock look, you can use ANY T-Mobile theme, 4 bar OR 6 bar. We modified the app for compatibility.
Once our ROM is released and works our kernel devs will be releasing a kernel for the NS4G which will really enable the full potential of the ROM.
Once released, check our ROM out. If you don't like it or miss some of the CM features, by all means please switch back. Just PLEASE don't complain that we are CM or that we are based on CM or we should incorporate this specific CM feature. We have worked really hard getting this ROM up to par for the Evo and will do the same for the Nexus S (when the time comes), but these kind of comments honestly just piss me off.
Look forward to supporting the ROM for Nexus S. Please be patient and let me get it working with my testers before I officially announce it.
Noah my raised hand was a vote for "yea."
And I ask of Devs, please dont turn this into a Nazi forum where threads are gobbled up by florid pissing contests. I saw one of the G Tablets best Devs peace because of that 'ish and its pathetic. More Devs equal more heads.
...and more head is never a bad thing.

What kind of comments piss you off? I think your overreacting TBH. Your rom may not be CM, but it has some of the same features. You say so yourself. If this is the kind of BS you and your "team" are bringing to the NS4G side, Ill pass. This has been a peaceful section so far. The evo section is a bunch of know it all hotheads and I could live without that ****. If someone making an observation about your rom really makes you that mad, maybe you shouldnt be dev'n.

Jesus dude, I was just saying that when people constantly say that we are the same thing as CM, it aggravates me. Don't start jumping down my throat, I'm not starting an argument. noahguz asked me to post in here explaining some differences and I did, that's it. I wasn't calling you out or starting crap over here, I get enough of that on the Evo forums, which is probably why I get annoyed when people say we are the same as CM.

I love em! I'm currently running the Galnet one with the ICS framework ported over. It's already got some ICS stuff implemented too like the lockscreen and keyboard. so far everything runs very smoothly and there are only a couple of noticeable bugs like when scrolling through pic previews in the market, the market app crashes. the latest build was supposed to fix that issue, but i'm still experiencing it. Other MIUI Infuse issues still exist such as iffy blutooth and no hdmi support.
Basically if you are currently running MIUI I'd highly recommend updating if you like to have the latest and greatest and don't mind a few bugs. If you're a fan of stability on the other hand, I'd stick to a later build, like 1.11.9 if I remember correctly, I think I remember hearing to be very stable.
EDIT: Just figured out that Galnet was banned from XDA for rules violation
I have no problems installing the app but none od the options work except for app drawer..does anyone know what the problwm might be?

Asus Transformer - 3.7 Revolver OC/UV
CM7, only because MIUI on the G2x isn't exactly the most stable. I was spoiled with the MIUI on the MT4G, thing was a beast and never had any bugs.
The MIUI on the G2x is good for the most part, but gets slow and has bugs here and there that bothers me so I'm happy with CM7.
I use Miui now and it seems pretty stable. I choose miui because it just looks really nice and runs soo smoooth.

Depends on what CM version you use. You also need to properly factory reset your phone, clear caches, etc because CM7 is a different beast entirely. Coming from other roms, especially stock roms such as Weapon, it is especially important to do the proper flashing techniques or you WILL run into problems.
That said, MIUI should be better now. I dropped off months ago when only Whitehawk was developing for it (aka just porting the latest version). Now we actually have devs focusing on MIUI for the G2x and trying to work out the kinks. It should be much better now.
MIUI isn't as compatible as CM7 with apps and such. More apps will not work on MIUI vs Stock or CM7. Most do, but this is something to expect if you run MIUI and your favorite app won't launch.
I had too much fun with MIUI though. Always changing my lockscreen type, always themeing, changing this and that. Gets addicting.
MIUI is different and most people get turned off by the iPhone-like launcher. But throw ADW EX or Go Launcher and you'll love it.

I started with a Cm7 rom and ics theme and then went to miui recently. Theres an ics theme for it too.
Using the galnet ics version that whitehawk ported over. Miui is different and at first I didn't like it, but I spent a day or two with it and I grew to like it. I think I just wanted something different since ics is a ways off.

Miui
I hated Miui when I first installed it, my phone would boot loop after calls that weren't answered, random reboots throughout the day, and it was a major battery hog. That was about 3 months ago.
I have it installed now and I love it. I have no problems at all with it, save about a 1 minute warm up time for an accurate lock on gps. Coupled with Juice defender and Launcher Pro, I get all the battery I need, and an app drawer with mods that rock!
love miui. been using whitehawk builds since he started and have no problems with stability, performance, or compatibility. I prolly wont even flash ics when we finally get it because its so hard to give up the level of customization miui offers.

are you saying that will be on the G2X today? just confused, but if so I'm backing my phone up now lol.
Probably means "one day". I know MIUI was already using some of the ICS source files but since they are based off CM7 kernel, one would think CM9 would have to be out first.
EDIT
Looks like pics have surfaced of MIUI running on top of ICS and the source was annouced... I don't think this means it will come out for the G2x today. Supposedly it is based off the CM9 kernel with hardware acceleration enabled.

The best ROM for my mom

My mom just got an Infuse 4G last night. She's unhappy with the stock ROM (rather, she's not liking it). Realistically I am using this opportunity to break the woman into smartphones, and the Infuse 4G is a great one with a screen that she can read (I love the look of that AMOLED, it's making me want a Samsung when it's time to upgrade).
The question is, which ROM is the most user-friendly? If you read my sig you'll see I have an Atrix 4G myself and am currently running an Alpha ROM so you'll know I am no stranger to the mod community. I just don't want to go from ROM to ROM to ROM showing her each one, wasting my entire day reflashing her phone. If anyone can come up with one or two suggestions for me to try for her, I would greatly appreciate it.
I'm looking for something ICS-like, smooth as butter, and not over-the-top like some of the Atrix guys like to go. Thanks for your help!

Imho, find out what she wants out of the phone and tweak it with apps. Stick with stock froyo and avoid the grief.
Ex. Big text battery indicator to show battery. Business calendar is better than stock. Go launcher is better than stock. Show her how to put direct dial shortcut on the screen etc...show her the widgets.
Leave the rom alone because everything works.
From my experience, it's the app and how to use the phone...not the ROM
For better battery life, odin flash one of the stock gingerbread leaks and leave it. KK4 leak would be OK. KL2 is better but tw30 is messed up on it. I like the stock froyo but the battery life sucks.

See I'm attempting to throw CatyRom on it, the ICS app tray is really what I'm after. Something like that would keep it simple for her to find things without having to go through the app drawer which is what has overloaded her in the past. She absolutely refuses to use an iPhone because of this.

Hah. I thought this thread was a joke when I read the subject line.
Well at this point it we have a handful of really good stable, infuse based roms. So it's all about what color she wants really lol.
Have her take a look at the screenshots for : Zeus, Caty, Bionix, Numas, Victory rom, or infused(old one but a goodie). And pick which one is astheticaly pleasing to her.
Nah, no joke. I made some modifications that allow single-touch activation of apps/tools but other than that she seems happy with Caty. She's a blue person, so it worked in my favor.
It seems odd that someone who has had no experience with smartphones minus playing with someone's iPhone and hating it would want to jump head-long into the ROM world but she's seen the difference it made in my phone. ICS on my Atrix is great, and I am hoping that one day you guys get it running on the Infuse, it seems like a good phone and you folks seem like an intelligent bunch.
Zeus (gb rom).
Plus:
Bluetooth and wifi are working good. Good battery. GPS is good.
Minus (common to ALL gb roms):
HDMI out does not work

Which ROM should I use with my TB?

So I've been out of the whole ROM scene for a while now, I have CM7 on my TB still and it sucks pretty hard, and I'm looking to install a new rom. I mostly tether, text, and sometimes talk on the phone. I'm not that big on apps except like sports center, twitter, and facebook...usuallly don't play games. Any suggestions on where to start?
There isn't much to complain about in regards to CM7, as we don't have a whole lot of new development. Slayher's CM7 build is still my favorite T-Bolt rom in terms of speed and stability. I run a 1.6ghz OC and it's pretty snappy. Thundershed is a very popular ROM right now and is based off of the CM7.2 codebase with an ICS theme, so I would certainly check it out if you are looking for something that feels different. You'll probably want to look into various roms on your own as it's honestly opinionated with a few exceptions.
Team Liquid is also working on an ICS rom that has working Phone and SMS, but data isn't working yet(they are coding the RIL from scratch). I would keep my eye on it as the rom will probably become ready for daily use in the near future. As soon as data works, I'll probably switch over from CM7 unless there are other issues that arise with the rom.
I used to suggest to users any rom by ThunderStick, but he was a complete dbag recently on his rom thread when questioned on one of the issues the rom had. I guess because he moved to a nexus he stopped caring about the TB. I would check out the rom list (thunderbolt development forum) and go through each one. BAMF has always been high on peoples list.

Come on, you asked a question that any amount of thought or common sense should have answered for you, thunderstick and others gave you appropriate responses. Back on topic though, skyraider is great. Thundershed, jellyblur, and sfkcm7 are awesome AOSP roms and worth a look too. There's also a bunch of solid desensed roms out there. It's best to flash some roms and get to know your own tastes that way. After all, only you know what your ideal rom is.

I've been running sfk cm7 for about a week and I love it. Great battery life and slick as hell with tiamats 1.1.5.

All of them.
Signature.
If you're looking for something different, Vicious and SPJester's MIUI rom works very nicely. It's easy to customize using the built in MIUI system. Everything but MMS works I believe, but the way the rom is set up is a bit strange (as there is no app drawer, sort of like IOS). Still, very solid and, having tried pretty much every tbolt rom out there, this is the one I always come back to.
Using JellyBlur v1.3 and having 0 problems so far. Been running it for awhile now without any problems and love it. Thinking about putting it on my husband's Thunderbolt as Skyraider Zues is giving him some problems.
Agreed Jellyblur 1.3 CM7.2 Rocks!

I'm with you, personally Jellyblur 1.3 has been the best running, slickest rom I've used. I've tried Bamf, and quite a few other roms out there. This for me is going to be my daily. I'm hoping we can get ICS (but not counting on it, and the only reason I want it is so the devs can grab the RIL and do something awesome with it).
Rem.
I love ODJDUB HD express. It's fast really nice and I get great battery life.

Been running liquid smooth 3.2 on my thunderbolt. I haven't found anything else that is faster than this rom.

When you get too many suggestions I'm not sure how helpful they are but I emphatically urge Thundershed. In fairness I haven't tried every rom mentioned here but TS simply works.
sfkcm7
I've been using sfkcm7 with imoseyon's kernel and it's been smooth

If you prefer sense, skyraider was awesome, so many customizations.
Liquid ICS Jmod! A few people's efforts got 1x working and ICS feels soooooo good
Jellyblur V1.3-CM7 y SPJester
I recently went through most of the recommended ROMs (after unrooting to get the OTA radio update, doing a clean wipe, then re-rooting) and I have landed on Jellyblur V1.3-CM7 y SPJester which seems to be the slickest and best-running I've seen so far. Battery life is good, audio, SMS/MMS, data, and phone work. It is thankfully De-Sensed and instead uses the Go Launcher.
