Here are some easy tips. Please feel free to add if you have any.
TIP 1- To ME the back cover is just to slippery, almost dropped my phone twice.
What you want to do is apply CLEAR COATS on the back cover. When all is done the cover will LOOK GREAT and FEEL GREAT too.
- buy some 1500 grit sandpaper or the like.
- buy some fast dry clear coat (aerosol spray) any brand will do just fine.
- sand the cover gently with water or dry, don't really matter. Do this gently, does not require much pressure. You just want to scuff it up some.
- clean the cover with a nice clean rag.
- lay the cover somewhere clean.
- shake can well, than spray ONE LIGHT coat and let dry for 2 minutes.
- shake can again and spray it nice and wet ONE TIME and let dry 2-3 minutes.
- repeat the shake, spray nice and wet, let dry 2-3 minutes. Do this 3-4 times.
Let the cover dry for an hour and it will be ready to snap back on the phone. Be careful the first day till it FULLY dries. Btw, if you have to replace the phone, just tell them you want to keep your old cover. They could care less.
TIP 2- The infuse charges super SLOW. Some agree some don't. If you agree, here's what you can do to make it charge much faster. Don't knock this till you at least try it.
- buy a different wall charger, or if you have an old micro usb charger that's even better. I use the wall charger from the iphone 4. Use something similar.
- plug your phone to the new charger, a window will appear giving you 3 options to choose from (you do NOT get this window or options with the oem charger).
- choose the MASS STORAGE option. another window will appear with an android dude. When this happens, hit the HOME button.
Now just continue to use your phone or turn of the screen and let it charge. You will see how much faster it charges. I love it!
TIP 3 - FOLLOW TIP 1-2!
Seriously though I will post if I think of anything else.
NOTE, IF THIS HAS HELPED YOU, IT DON'T MATTER IF YOU PRESS THE THANKS BUTTON. I DON'T GET WHY THAT'S A BIG DEAL, LOL.
can we get some pics on how the back turned out?
i think the only thing i have sanded down on any of my devices is the back of my ipod.

So already pushed in the pool with my brand new infuse... Hopefully all of the tricks in the book will work, but any other advice?
I have had luck with pulling all removable pieces and laying it on the dash of my car for a few hours. Keep in mind not to put it in direct sunlight. I used a newspaper to cover it. You just want the heat factor to evaporate any moisture. Hope this helps.
P.S. You have the phone I want.

pull battery and if you can dis assemble the phone (it's pretty strait forward, 6 screws then you prey the back off, it's a tight fit but you wont break it)
put parts in a bag of rice.
Right now I've got it in a bag of rice and without the battery/back cover but I left the screws on. I'm gonna leave it there for a day or so and then try tomorrow. I'll just pop the SIM in my iPhone. Wow going back to the 3GS is a super big drag. The screen is horrendous.

yeah vga resolution is pretty bad, plus it is soo small.
the disassembly is really optional, but is preferable if you are comfortable with it.
Yea thanks again for the help
You get a container filled it with rice and put the Infuse inside like in the middle cover it fully. May sound funny but this thing works. Rice actually suck all the water on any devices. This happen to my iPod twice. I left it inside my pant and wash it in the washing machine, I did this and it fix it twice. No kidding. Live it there for 1day, long wait

The phone is fine now, except it has water trapped inside of both camera lenses. Is there a fix for this?
i would imagine you need to disassemble the phone. im sure the water is under the protective lens and the sensors are fine.
Like most of us that keep no cover on our phone, my battery plate was all scratched to heck. I saw the other "mirror polish" mod and it looked great, but also looked like a lot of work and would get scratched again. I bought a can of rubberized spray (see pic) and wound up with a great result (see pic.) The only color Home Depot had was black, and I think a gray might have looked better, but I still like the results and the phone is less slippery now than with the metal cover. This took 3 coats (30 minutes drying time between coats) then I let it dry for 18 hours before using it. Turned out pretty good, but long-term results are TBD...
I like did u just spray the back part? Any trouble with fitting it afterwards as it must add a layer of bulk?

It added less bulk than I thought it would, it's really not much at all and it fits just fine afterwards. Actually, before, it would slide like a little when locked in place (just enough to notice - probably like .1 mm or so.) Now it is snug and has no jiggle at all.
I forgot to mention the hard part (prepping it...) Removing the original clear plastic coating was the hardest part - a combination of a dremel with the little wire wheel tool and my fingernail took about an hour, then I just hit it with some 220 grit sandpaper and cleaned it with mineral spirits.
I use the same stuff on my car (mid level 2009 Lancer but use the Plasti-dip to black out the front to make it look like an Evo [car guys will understand =p]) Very durable though I have not used it on my DZ yet. You beat me to the punch! I want to do the HTC part in red and the rest in black, will post when I have the time to do it.
Looks sharp though, contrast is nice
Doh! After only 1 day, I caught something on the curved edge and it started lifting the plastic coating... not very durable for this use - I might try again later though and see if I can come up with a better method.

I like it! A little bit rougher texture, but you might try Duplicolor spray on bedliner.
I thought about taking my phone apart and using some white plastidip to change it white...
Durability is alright...on thinkpad forums, a couple of people mixed it with some black enamel paint which made it much more durable.

I thought I was the only one who noticed the battery door wiggle room! No one ever mentions it. I really hope you find some way of preventing it from peeling. I'm practically drooling over those pictures you took. It looks extremely professional compared to most mods I've seen. You could easily set up a service where people send you their doors, some cash, and a self address envelope if you wanted to make some extra bucks.

I've been meaning to update this. I tried again - this time I sanded with 220 grit, used a "self-etching primer" on the cover, then the rubberized paint. This time it lasted 3 days before starting to peel off... I'm also able to scratch off the primer with my fingernails, so the primer didn't really help. I'm not sure what else to try to make this coating stick at this point.

I suggest powdercoating the back cover.

Powder coating would be nice, but I don't have the equipment for that (and don't want to invest in it just for this.) Also, this cover has plastic tabs that I'd be worried about melting or detaching from the battery cover during the curing process.
Hi guys. I recently saw this (http://blog.whitesites.com/HTC-Sensation-4G-Chrome-Polished-Frame__634471425817343750_blog.htm) and decided to try this on my phone's battery cover. it looks pretty cool now, with the battery door shiny and mirrorish. you can try this out too, but make sure you dont sand the metal too hard after the dark blue paint falls off, because thats going to give it scratches that are hard to remove. you can use about 100 grit to remove the paint, then 400 to make the surface smooth. with the new look, i feel like i have a new phone again. haha
Post pictures when you are done! I was considering it too, but i really like the feel of the blue material...

here, ive uploaded a picture, its in the first post. i like the new texture now, it feels just as smooth as the front glass! and it feels cooler in my hand too (maybe because im touching the metal directly, and not through the paint)
Wow! That looks really good! I'll do this when i have time
So here is a little trick to go along with that. Since the blue / purple backing on the battery cover was a rubber composite, it tended to hold heat more. Now that you got that barrier off, here is the next step. Wrap your battery in aluminum foil and then put the cover on. Since aluminum foil doesn't conduct heat it will transfer it to the backing (since it doesn't actually touch the battery without the foil bridge) and dissipate the heat during use. This will keep your temperature down and for what it is worth, extend lifeline of the battery. I actually did this a long time ago (only in didn't sand the back, I soaked the cover in acetate solution and the rubber peeled right off) and it works fairly well, especially when using CPU for a duration like online music.

cool, what made you put that cover into the solution? sounds much better cos it doesnt leave scratches. where do you get it?
if you allow heat to go into the cover, wont the phone feel much hotter in your hand? and wouldnt it affect the temperature of the lcd? my phone gets hot sometimes when charging, so i just remove the cover and leave the phone standing on the windowsill to prevent that.
Acetate is really nothing more than nail polish remover. I was getting my Google on a long time ago and came across it. Some kid with an XT did a YouTube video on it.
Since the heat is dissipating out the back, it doesn't effect the LCD on the front. The cover doesn't get too hot and actually the phone runs cooler bc the heat has somewhere to go.
Think of it like a wetsuit. You are totally dry and warm when fully covered, but open the neck a bit and your whole body gets cold. Phone is same way bc of the rubber coating. Remove that and the heat has somewhere to go and not stay trapped inside and cause possible damage to battery and CPU.
Ever wanted to know what a Note 3 would like without the quasi chrome frame ?
It would look something like this...
I used wet and dry paper left over from my daughter sanding the bonnet of her car so I have no idea what grit it was. I simply took the battery cover off, I even left the battery in and the phone on as I was waiting for an important call.
The cheap screen protector has some great looking scratches on it. They weren't too deep so I've left it on until I can be bothered attempting to put on a new one.
Something to note, don't sand the buttons. I was doing this while having a cigarette outside and didn't realise I'd almost sanded the power button smooth (still works). I haven't got around to doing anything with the s pen yet, it's still quasi chrome with a chunk out of the end ... I will eventually post some extra pics when I have the time to use something with a finer grit and may even give it a coat of spray paint and clear coat (I'd have to remove the buttons first) It may be a month before I have the time to do this.

I sanded the frame as there were about 6 spots where the chrome had been chipped off leaving just the black undercoat... there were also a few dents in the frame (and a spot near the s pen where it had taken a large chunk out of the corner).
You probably wouldn't want to do this if your Note 3 was in pristine condition, I was just sick of it looking so crap.
I did this to my Note 1 due to the ugly paint peel and now my Note 3 having the same problem. I applied some car wax for a shiny finish.
How long you sand until you reach a smooth finish since the Note 3 frame got some pattern on it.
My note 3 never leaves its Otterbox, so something like this would never even cross my mind. Plus, I think I'd be too afraid to take sandpaper to my phone lol.
Anyway, it looks pretty good from the pictures!

Edit: I have tinkered with my S-Pen a bit, so let me give you some advice, in case you decide to: Be very careful with the button. It's very, very thin. The first time I took it apart, I thought I was being careful enough with it, and ended up breaking the button in half and had to order an entirely new S-Pen....

You can sand it until the ribbed chrome is gone. I used a cork sanding block I had laying around (cost about $2 from the local hardware store) to make sure It was semi even.
When your phone is dropped as much as mine was you'll note that the when the chrome is chipped it will be black underneath. I kept sanding until it is smooth and the black coating was gone.
Working around the buttons is a bit difficult. You'll notice in the picture that I scratched up the volume button accidentally. I wasn't being really careful as I figured the phone couldn't look any worse.
I'll order some new buttons and a white camera lens then strip the phone down and spray paint it white with some clear coat when I get the chance. I have 18 days to find somewhere new for my kids and I to live Gotta figure that out first unfortunately.
So yesterday around midnight clumsy as I am I managed to drop my Nexus 5 in clean toilet water. Fortunately I managed to get it out of there in less than a second so the phone just like "paddled" in the water before it was in my hand again. Well when it was in my hands I quick took some paper and cleaned the outlayers of the phone but unfortunately it took me a few minutes until I managed to turn it off because of non-responsive touch because of the water on the screen. Still, until I turned it off the phone seemed like to work as it always have, perfect.
So when it was turned off I took out the SIM and card holder. I took a cotton swab and cleaned the headset and charger hole and put in it uncooked rice.
Now it's been in the rice for 5-6 hours and I just took a quick look on it (No, I did not turn it on.). I'm put it in again and I am going to leave it in the rice for 20-44 hours more.
How big is my survival chance? Should I try to take the phone and try to blow out the minimal amount of water with a vaccum cleaner? I left the back cover (the one who came with the phone) on but on YouTube it doesn't look like too much of an hassle to get it off. Should I take the back cover off and put in rice again or blow with hair dryer/vaccum cleaner?
And how many hours should it stay in rice?
To be honest... I'd sit it on a radiator as well to let it get hot and really dry out. Then it's probably just a 50 50 chance that nothing is damaged and turn it on and hope for the best
Just open it and dry it.
Half year ago I put the phone in laundry machine and washed like 5 minutes...
Open it up, get parts out, and make sure every part is dry after few hours.
Then put them back, and everything is fine as before

I really don't want to open it...I destroyed the case of my former phone that way and it looks like the case for the Nexus is really hard to get off...
By the way I have now vacuumed some small, small drops of water out from the charger hole and the speakers. If I remember right only half of phone got fully in the water since the headphone jack was completely dry. The phone is in a container of rice now and I will leave it there for another 12-16 hours...
Do you really recommend me to try to take of the case?
I believe the back is pretty easy to take off - you can start with a fingernail. And it would certainly increase the drying performance. I think I remember doing it myself. Try iFixit for the Nexus 5 teardown.
Yep, there's a video, but it's really a narrative rather than showing the removal of the back cover. It shows that it's held on with clips with a very small amount on the bottom edge. It's as simple as I thought, and now I've seen it I remember doing it on my old N5 before I exchanged it for a refurbished model.

Worked
I powered it on now. Everything seems to work perfect
