Turns out my Phone has Froyo 2.2.1 and I won the lottery with it since some apps of mine delete all their settings. So I have SwitchPro Widget and it's amazing, not because of the widgets, but because of all the stuff i could control. The problem is since some apps lose their settings well my widgets in switch pro go blank every once in a while, and that sucked... a lot.
Anyways, can someone please point me to an app that can turn on screen permanently, and do all the stuff SwitchPro did, or most of it? I figure, an app cant go blank, only widgets. And since those are system tools theres no way an app could give me further troubles.
Use quick settings from market.

I had a battery widget on my screen, which I swear was on the phone before I downloaded any apps. Maybe I am going nuts. It did not show %, but it showed bars.
The nice thing was when I clicked on it it would open up a page showing what apps were using the battery.
I pulled it off the screen, and now cannot find it to put back.
Anyone see anything like that?
It was on the phone when you got it? I just got it yesterday and never saw anything like that....hmmm...
Are you sure you're thinking of a widget rather than going to Settings, About Phone, then Battery Use?
Well, since posting a few min ago, I found that. But I did have an icon on my desktop that I could call that very thing with. But darned if I know how I got it there.
I've been messing with this thing so much, I'm going brain dead.I was having problems a bit ago remembering which app I used to check on available memory. But finally remembered it was Advanced Task Killer.
Long press on the desktop like you were going to add a widget or wallpaper. Choose Shortcut instead, then scroll down to Settings, click it, then choose Battery Use.
That'll put a nice little battery/magnifying glass icon on your desktop, click it and it does what it says, just like you'd went into Settings/About Phone/Battery Use.
And notice some of the other quick and handy shortcuts you can make, besides the wealth of those found in the Settings part.
Well, I am pretty sure that is how I got it there. It has disappeared from the list, so I can no longer install it.
So I guess the real question is what determines what is in that list.
Hmmm....I wonder if that is a Samsung widget, which won't work with Launcher Pro.
....
Nope, I don't see it no matter which launcher I select. I wonder what else is missing.

i have it working with launcher pro
I'm a dork today. I found it. And if I had slowed down and read Croak's reply and paid attention he had the answer.
What I was skipping was selecting Settings after going into the shortcuts. I was thinking that was the settings ICON to open general settings.
Wondering if there was an app out there that would lock all setting and things to prevent someone else (little kids) from changing things around. Something that would allow all your apps to work, make phones call, use SMS, internet etc.. It wouldn't allow someone to move the widgets around are go into an app and change a setting etc... You know like a 3 year old stealing your phone off the table and start pressing all the buttons
Any such thing out there?
If you use adw launcher there's an option to lock the desktop, you can't move anything around
App protector pro password locks individual apps and also your system settings depending on what you select. Not sure thats what youre looking for.
Thanks I will check it out.
Just curious, how many of you guys use the lock screen? I for one, since the day I bought my inspire, disabled the lock screen. I simply have no use for it.
How about you guys?
I use the app "No Lock", works perfect for me.....
Bounce between Widgetlocker and the Sense 3.0 lockscreen. She lives in my pocket and needs to be restrained when I'm not paying attention to her. Touchscreen & all that.
Sent from my Inspire 4G using the power of the dark side.
I bounce around with mine. Sometimes I like it, sometimes not. But I same as you use no lock to rid myself of it. Most times I don't feel i need a second screen to go through just to get to my apps and stuff
I have the rotary unlock and a PIN after that. I figure that with my phone rooted someone who doesn't know what they're doing messing with settings could really cause problems and some apps have my credit card info so i like to have it locked, it's pretty quick to unlock.
Disabled it the hour I got it and never looked back...
I use Executive Assistant as the lockscreen and disable the regular one
I never use stock 2.2 sense lock, only 3.0. I like widgetlocker, but I'm running cm7, so i use default on the lens setting. looks great.

I love it. I use the sliding tab lockscreen with the four tabs. I use it quite often.
I definitely use mine (Widgetlocker). I place everything I might want/need to see on it. Currently I have an icon for the app Screen Off and Lock, and the following widgets: Watchdog, CurrentWidget, SetCPU, Next Alarm, and MissedIt (unread counts). I disabled interactions for everything except the icon for Screen Off and Lock (I set the timeout for the lockscreen to be 30 seconds, giving me plenty of time to look at my device information. I use the Screen Off app to turn it off as soon as I'm done).
What I'd like to do is rip out anything that refers to the "phone" side of Android on my NS4G (it's off contract now). Get rid of the Phone app, Messaging, the Emergency Dialer on the lock screen, the Airplane Mode indicator, the mobile networks/4G/etc options in Settings, that kind of thing. How can I do it?

Why do all that?
Just put it on airplane mode and be done with it.
Get a good launcher so u can just hide the apps u don't want to look at in the app drawer and customize ur home screen to show no phone apps.
Then u will have plenty of space to install media stuff... music, movies games and pictures.
This is just the easiest and less complex way to do it...
Good luck

Ehh. I figured it would be a cool experiment. So I actually got to, you know, experimenting, and I wound up ripping pretty much everything phone-related out of my ROM, save for the ringtone volume in the volumes widget (it's not gonna ring if there's no service). Also, I modified my Settings.apk to remove a bunch of phone-related options. It didn't go perfectly, but it's a start I guess. I might come back to it later and fix it up so certain menu options don't crash.
Also, does anyone know if there's any way to remove the Airplane Mode icon from the status bar?
Like Surelock does, what I mean is I already know how to create a launcher, what I don't know is how to make it take that functionality as soon as the app is started, I always have to restart the tablet for the changes to take effect, so how can that be done? I know Surelock does that...
