Can someone help please?
I have just copied the TV highlights of a particular cycle "tour" on to my hard drive and in turn on to DVD. How can I put this video footage onto my PDA to watch during lunchtime, etc?
There are 2 directories on the DVD - these are VIDEO_RM and VIDEO_TS. I assume that this is all needed on the PDA to watch what I have of the tour.
Do I need special software? One person tells me that all I need to do is change the *.VOB to *.MP4. This doesn't appear to work.
All help is appreciated.
Thanks,
S.
Having re-read what I have just typed - the title doesn't make it clear what I am trying to do.
The DVD bit was just a way of transferring from my TV set-top hard-drive to my PC.
I then want to copy from my PC to my PDA.
All I am ultimately trying to do is be able to watch what is on my hard-drive on the PDA. It just so happens the video codecs (something I dont' know a lot about) and file formats *.VOB don't appear to let me watch what I want.
Thanks.

Spb Mobile DVD is a pretty popular app that'll convert DVDs to a format you can view on your PPC. It's not free, but it's worth the cost if you get good use out of it. It's also really easy to run.
I'm also moving this to a more appropriate forum.

Hi TaurusBullba.
Thanks for the tip.
Doing this kind of conversion how much disc space would 1Gb of VOB file take up - do you know?
Is it cheaper direct or could I get it anywhere else?
How does it deal with copyright protected discs?
Thanks again.

since pda's have a res of 240_320 and 480_640
and dont support surround sound
and can use formats which take up less space then
old mpeg2 which is used in vob's on the dvd's
so the movies will be much much smaller then the dvd is
Hi. I have a very simple question: does anyone know a free midi editor working with WM6? Google didn't help me. I have already tried VIBE (java) but it won't export to MIDI, and it's quite awkward to use, sice it does not recognise the touch screen. Can anybody help me?
Thank you in advance.
By the way, is there an accessible version of this site (maybe a feature of vBulletin)? I know that Opera Mobile 9.5 is great, but a lighter page loads faster. Thanks!
dunno about the midi editor, but remember you can always just use mp3s
and the portable version is right here- http://forum.xda-developers.com/archive/index.php/
it displays them backwards though (oldest to youngest)
Thank you, but I need the editor in order to compose music from the PDA, I am not thinking of the ringtones. Thank you, anyway.
I'm going to try the accessible version now.
Anybody else?
Sorry, removed the attachment, found a Trojen in it...
Its on Softpedia and you can find it HERE
Thank you, but that's not what I need. That is software for windows, but I need a Pocket PC/Windows Mobile app. What was the attachment?

Compose your own music by click mouse, setup different key signature, clef and meter. Setup score tempo.
· Seperate several midi channels from many complex channels midi file
· Can save part midi data from long complex midi file.

But it ain't freeware...here' the LINK , just in case you want to try it out...
I had already seen this, but it's for a desktop, not a Pocket PC. Thank you anyway.
I've also been interested in this.
Even low budget phones have midi editors
I read that windows mobile devices have limitations because they don't have midi-hardware....
The most popular polyphonic composers are already dead long time ago (Bach, Palestrina)
Hi,
I'm searching for a free (or commercial) MP3 editor or Studio for WM6.1 (touch pro). It is not for ringtones but I use mp3 for practising my singing.
I want to be able to select a section of a mp3 and edit this.
Delete selection
Copy Past (So I can make a section repeat itself)
Merge mp3 files
Cut mp3 files and then save all
On the old midi-discs recorder these options were standard, however thesedays only really high-end mp3 players offer these functions.

AJ
you would prob have an easier time moving the files to a computer and doing the edit there as there are piles of free programs for computers which does that
Here's a program like that for PC, I'm gonna browse around and see what I can find for PPC, but I doubt there's anything available.

There are a loft of free programs for pc that's true. However I want to edit these practice files on the road. As soon as I have a section in an one hour recording that I know by heart, I can remove it and focus on the parts that i don't know yet. I was so hoping that the mp3 trimmer was up to my needs, unfortunatly it just cuts the beginning or the end. not something in between.

didn't know any editor for mp3. there are just several for wave and aufiles:

@Puckmeister and Black93300ZX
Thank you for your responses. Perhaps I'm going to use a wav editor if I really need to, but for now I'm still keeping my fingers crossed and looking for a mp3 editor.

I guess I'm looking for a program to convert my DVDs into mp4 so I can drag and drop into tab. Google searched but was baffled at so many programs, it was confusing. Any input will be appreciated.

Any DVD Converter from AnvSoft is a great program for that, it has profiles for different devices, but it's not free.

Handbrake is a good program for video conversion. Makes mp4 compatible files and can deal with most dvds i have chucked at it. It works on the main platforms too.
Oh and its free and open source!
Tried handbrake and it works better than the paid programs, tried demos of the paid programs but wouldn't work on purchased DVDs, some crap about digital rights, supposedly you only use these
Programs to make copies of copied videos on a disc. They never made it clear if purchasing there product would allow you to copy a dvd and change formats. I paid full price for all my DVDs ,I should have a right to do and copy whatever I feel like with my DVDs ,so there!
If need to convert DVDs to mp 4 handbrake will do it for you. Free.
