Thunderbolt not making outgoing calls! Called Verizon already... - Thunderbolt General

After last night of being on the phone with a regular tech, then a "4g tech" for just over an hour, and them telling me to pull my battery and do restarts, they were unable to help me get my phone to make calls out... Every time I call out it saysyour mobile number is either not active or invalid
I was speaking to them on my DX the whole time (separate acct altogether)
and they said "Okay sir we will call you back in an hour to see if the service issue has been resolved." And they never called back... I really don't want to sit on the phone for that long again, to not be helped.
Side-note: my phone's email is pushing on a regular basis and I am able to use internet access.... oh AND I called my Tbolt and it went right to voicemail (from DX) and then the Thunderbolt even acknowleged I had one new Voicemail...
I am unrooted, if I do a Factory Reset, this will be like the 8th one since I got the phone lol.... will this help??

You could go into the secret menu (*#*#4636#*#* then 'Phone Info') and put it in 'CDMA Only' mode and see if you calls get through.
If not, keep your phone turned off for about 30 minutes to see if that helps.

Thank you for replying.
I just got home from work and still the same issues, I'll try this right now!

I would also try taking out the sim card and turning the phone on without it for 5 minutes then shut off & put it back in and restart.
Do not use *228 option it wont work...

[Q] Rooted then unrooted phone, no more 3G

So I decided to root my phone today, so that I can use the ad free app, overclocking, etc...
Well, after I completed the process, I was having troubles connecting properly to my provider. Needless to say, I was freaking out, so I did a full factory reflash of my phone, based on a thread I found here.
After doing all that, I'm able to connect to my provider, but I can't get data anymore. I setup the APNs exactly how they were before, and checked every possible guide on setting up the APNs, and did it, and redid it a million times, and rebooted the phone more times than I can count.
I still can't get data back. The 3G thing will flash like it's coming on, then turn back off. I'm so stressed out right now, you can't even imagine. I really loved this phone as it was, there was no need at all for me to try rooting it, everything worked PERFECTLY. Then my dumb ass ruined everything.
Please, if anyone has ever encountered this, or knows why this might be happening the way it is, please let me know.
Other things I've noticed, I can call from my phone, and receive calls from a buddy that's on the same network as me, but I can't call myself from my home phone. It's late at night, so I can't test receiving calls from other networks, and other people's home phones.
Btw, I did exactly this to unroot it:

Scratch this, I'm mentally retarded. As soon as I disabled wifi, my phone connected to 3G.

Voicemail Icon Stuck On: No VM's in my Inbox

Hello All,
Wanted to see if anyone else with a G2x has the tape looking icon stuck on in the upper tool bar. I do not have any messages in my voicemail. I have done a battery pull, and nothing. When I pull the bar down, it shows that I have one voicemail, but really I don't.
I have searched and could not find anyone that has had this problem yet. I am running 2.3.3.
Any help would be appreciated.
Also, downloaded a SMS app and want to delete the original messaging app. Is there a way to do that?
Call your VM, leave a message. Delete it. Icon should go away.
Tried that. This has been stuck on for over a week. Gotten numerous VM's and have deleted then. Nothing changes.
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda premium
Bummer. That method worked for my stuck icon. Sorry man.
try these two options if possible
1. take out the simcard and put it in a different phone and see if the VM icon shows up, then put the SIM back in ur phone
or
2. download "Visual Voicemail" by tmobile and use that for voicemails (might need to sign up for it through the Tmo website first)
The same thing happened to me twice. This is what I did to make it disappear.
1) Shut the phone down manually.
2) Remove battery.
3) Remove Sim Card.
4) Replace battery (without Sim Card). First time it showed the voicemail sign (I know, strange). Check in your case if it is there.
5) If NOT, then turn the phone off again. Remove battery.
6) Replace Sim Card and battery. Boot up your phone and VOILA.
Hope this helps.

I did this twice last night, and it is still there. Wonder what the heck it is. It is frustrating because I use that to determine if I have a VM or not. Now it looks like I always do. Thank you for the help.

Call your number and leave a VM. Then call from your phone and erase it. Works for me!

Weird Network/Airplane Mode Issue

A couple of times now, when I'm out and about I lose my cellular data connection. It just stops working. In the past on other devices when this has happened a reboot will usually fix it. But on my Atrix 2, when I reboot the phone comes one with Airplane Mode enabled (please note that I did not turn on Airplane mode). If I try to turn Airplane Mode off, it will just sit and say "Enabling wireless connections" but never actually turn them on. I have to actually do a battery pull to fix this problem. The first time it happened I went and got a new SIM card (as mine was pretty old), and it just happened to me again this afternoon. I'm past my 30 day return policy (bought the phone at Best Buy) so I can't return it.
Has anyone else experienced this problem? Anyone have any ideas on what might be causing this?
Just to reiterate, I did not turn on Airplane Mode, the phone powers on with it enabled and then won't actually turn off Airplane Mode when I tell it to.
i have the same problem too. After it happens couple times, i find out it might be the problem from the at&t address book issue which cause the phone cant read the sim for some reason (as it result, airplane mode keep enable). I also believe it is because the phone has been unlocked so the at&t address book crash. Is your phone unlocked?
Well, i am not quite sure it work on ur phone, but here is how i do it usually.
Way 1- plugin another sim card(sometimes i dun even need to do it), load the at&t address book, it will force the phone to load sim card cause of the contact from sim (then it should work right after that or after reboot)
Way 2- pull the battery for 1 day, it will work after that(but this is kinda dumb)
Hope this can help you XD.

My phone is not unlocked. I could see the AT&T Address book thing contributing, I've NEVER had that thing work right, and thus I don't even have it set up on my phone (it's on there in my Accounts, but it's not configured that I know of because i do my contact syncing through Google).
Battery pull definitely solves the problem, at least temporarily. The only other SIM I have is the old one they took out when they replaced the SIM after this happened the first time. I also don't store any contacts on my sim (again use google for that), so I don't know if doing a SIM swap would solve the problem in a more permanent way since I've basically already done that.
I tried battery pull, but it doesn't work sometimes. The reason i run at&t address book because it would force the phone to detect the sim again(cause of the contact). Lucky it doesn't always happen. hoping Motorola can fix this issue on next update.
**I just think about it, it might be some stupid mistake from motorola that overwrite the memory about the phone status section.
have you guys tried factory resetting it?
I tried to reset but it doesn't help at all

how about freezing or removing the apps from att?

Hmm, I did this just yesterday, I'll give it a week or so and see if the issue happens again after setting my contact storage to my Google account.

ok just inform us what happens.
I have and identical problem.
My phone would turn with the Airplane mode ON and I can't deactivate it, or even if it shows I can, it's not in the menu and I won't get any signal.
I can't recall If it happened because of a change but I doubt so.
I tried factory reset / cache / dalvik, also flashing numerous rom from neutrino to cm7 to cm9 and even MIUI (which worked the first time I flashed it for a day and then same error).
And It will also occasionnaly reboot If I try too hard checking for networks and such.
Any help ?

[Completed] Sprint note 4 rooted, completely screwed

Got my note back in November, rooted through odin in December. Everythings been grand and perfect.
Till I watched a video on youtube 2-3mnths ago about good rooted apps (wanted to get more daring other than xposed) loaded gsm gestures app? I think was the name. Kept it for a week, didnt use it. Uninstalled it, phone rebooted, instead of the normal "app uninstalled"
After that my phones been laggy, freezes, and freezes and turns off. Its factory wiped itself 8 times. I have countless posts on Reddit timelining everything. Long short is, tried liquid smooth to see if that would fix my problem, lost text messaging with that could only text for an hr a day, flashed stock sprint firmware and rerooted afterwards, have been slow to reload apps on phone, incase of factory reset or whatever. my phone is now taking 75+ batter pulls to get into a normal boot, every 15bat pulls it jumps into download mode "could not do normal boot ddi_mms read fail" and now an ssl text ive only seen once today, ill try and write that down if it happens again.
Finally when I get back into my phone, sometimes I have to update prl to get service again, the other day my phone lost signal and all my network settings were unselected, I had to select them all and my phone was fine, then I was on the phone and it cut me out in the middle of a call and said roaming lost or something, and I had to reapply cdma/lte on sprint.
Im beyond frustrated, im getting married in 2 weeks, and going out of country immediately after, so I need a working phone as most my business is conducted through it. I have no upgrade on sprint, and cant afford to throw out 400$ for a "new" note 4
Please please please someone help me.
Thanks for your time.
Matt
Hi,
Here's a thread on returning to stock firmware. That should give you a fresh start,

If you want to find other options, you could ask for other ideas in your device section here,

Good luck!

APN Settings with T-Mobile

Hello Experts
Just received my brand new Xperia XZ Premium international Dual sim on Sunday. I've been with Sprint for twenty years but wanted this phone badly and stepped into a T-Mobile store today.
They inserted SIM card in slot one and proceeded to activate phone. Everything seems to be there under access point except the enable/disable is grayed out even though is says APN enabled.
I contacted seller through Amazon and they said to do a factory reset. I have four times. What am I doing wrong?? Does the SIM card be active before placing it in SIM tray??

Um... Where exactly do you see "enable/disable" under APN settings?
Under Access Point Names
You might have to activate the SIM first. Make sure you select "LTE preferred" and when you search for service providers it should automatically choose T Mobile, if not, manually select it. It should also populate the APN settings automatically, but you can enter them manually. Check here:

Sim Card Working
Yes that was it. The Sim card must be activated first. You would have thought the genius at T-Mobile would have known this. All is well thank you experts. One more thing I updated the phone with the new Oreo and now every time I DL an app from The Play Store it crashes with message com.android. phone has stopped. Then it asks to close the app and takes me out and I have to finger print my way back in. The apps are downloading but this is getting tiresome. I've already factory reset twice so please don't ask me to do that again lol! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I have the International dual Sim model 8142

Above the power button....
You may want to get the Apn automatically then change the apn type to blank (don't fill in) and the apn protocol to ipv4/ipv6. I had an issue with hotspot until I changed those. The automatic update isn't accurate.
Can anyone assist? I have the international dual sim xperia xz premium. I had been set up an working fine on the T-Mobile network. Fingerprint scanner was working. Everything was working fine. Then problems arose. The phone starting having horrendous signal issues. When you made and received phone calls, you could not hear the other person well at all (to the point people would hang up in frustration). No matter who I call this was happening. I thought it might be a sim issue. I put that same sim in a nexus 6p, and had no problems. I tried factory reset a couple times on the xperia and nothing has helped. Another thing i noted, is there is nothing under APN settings. I alerted T-Mobile of this and they put the settings in, but they dont seem to stick (save). At this point my xperia is an xpensive paper weight. Can anyone guide me in the correct direction. Really in need of help. Everyone has been hounding me to jump to iphone because of this. Not giving up yet.
