Is close enough... the one I liked is in continuum 5.5 from captivate..

It's actually called Sony arc ...
sent from Infuse but miss my captivate on cont. 5.5.... One day this can be as good...

Scratch that...seems this is arc to but maybe themed diff them what cont. Has.

[Q] do I have a lemon?

I am coming from a samsung captivate with FireFly Rom... it is pretty nice actually and works well.
I pulled out my Inspire out of the box and it seems very laggy and slow, no where close to captivate speed and smoothness (did I really say that?)
I tried the Inspire and the browser and other apps and they start and load then freeze and the menu/back button do nothing... then it works, then it freezes again and keeps doing this.
From what I read this phone needs no rom and is supposed to be plenty fast... mine is not.
Your thoughts?
thanks Kevin
Exchange it. The stock inspire rom is faster than any captivate rom.

thanks for the replies.
I will try to get over the local ATT store today and swap it out.
Hope that will not be a giant hassle.
Kevin
if you're within 30 days of getting your phone, you should be able to exchange it no problem.

Bassman,
If I'm correct, I remember seeing you not long ago on the captivate forums. I just ordered a new inspire, moving to it from my cappy. How are you liking the inspire so far?
I'm hoping that I won't be dissapointed in it. What is the screen like compared to the captivate?
Just thought I'd ask since I remember you from the cappy forum. Best to get it from someone that has used both phones.

yea came from the vibe too, my was leggy as well but it would use the treadmill daily so they were pretty tone.
Nexus One b/c I was tired of running out of memory for apps or switching to the slower app2sd, and I wanted a better multi-touch screen, and I wanted a slightly bigger screen, and I wanted "4G", and I wanted a developer friendly phone.

I had a Nexus S. I honestly miss it, but the G2x hardware is a million times better. The main thing I miss about the NS is the large variety of roms (I guess cause the phone has more devs since its older) and that 4 inch Super Amoled display.

Left my Nexus One in a pants pocket and ran it through the wash last April. Tried going back to my still perfect launch day MT3G for a week or so but it was too damn slow. After just a few minutes of researching my current on-contract choices I picked up my launch week G2x in a local T-Mo store.
I like my G2x alright, but I do miss my rock solid N1.

About to purchase an Inspire 4G

My friend is about to purchase an Inspire 4G. How is everyone's experience with it? I don't think my friend will do any sort of heaving modding with it such as rooting and custom ROMs. Is there lag such as the Captivate that requires the so called "Lagfix"? How is the phone overall? Feedback will be appreciated!

awesome phone, can be lagfix'd if you so choose, it is pretty snappy out of the box but lagfix is a common mod. I'd Odin flash the community kernel if i were him and call it a day, later he can use CWM included in the kernel to flash the upcoming gingerbread based rom that make it feel like a new phone. there is a world.of difference between the included firmware and gingerbread.
infuse 4g is literally the best phone ive ever had, especially if you like youtube and netflix as much as i do
Best phone I've used to date, kicked my G2x to the curb for it. The screen size and color is beastly. Dual core is overrated, you wont be disappointed with this phone.

Depends on taste......CM7 i think has better performance, but Miui is the must have anyone that loves to customize there phone. it lets you change everything piece by piece but it has no app drawer unless you use a launcher to get it back otherwise all your apps will just be on the front pages.
there both great, but cm7 still has my vote on sheer smoothness and tweaks. but again i loved "ee"'s themes for Miui so who knows

It is very "iPhonish" when you first use MIUI; throw a lancher on it, though, and it's back to business as usual. Very slick, very smooth, very customizable (if that's a word). Oh, and it's based on CM 7.1 sources. I've tried all sorts of ROMs on my Inspire, but I always end up going back to MIUI, it's just too damn nice. Getting a SR soon, and I'd love to see a MIUI build for it.

I agree with this. Almost every aspect of MIUI is iPhone ripped. Throwing a launcher over top of it kind defeats the purpose of MIUI (IMHO).
I have used MIUI and it had horrible battery life, right up there with CM7. Personally I would never use MIUI or CM7 ever again (on one of my phones).
That being said
I have MIUI on my daughters phone because she loves the iPhone and since I am giving her my Captivate for Christmas and she really wants an iPhone, I decided to put MIUI on it to ease the pain. LOL
agreed,
women seem to love miui though......hence why i am trying to put it on my old cappy to give to my GF.
but am having issues with the drivers.
i dont mind CM7, with the right kernel the battery drain is not that bad......but yes it can get annoying to have plug your up to the wall every couple hours as a preemptive strike on your phone dying.

I have had iphone3 3gs and 4. I don't like them and this captivate is already paid for. So I'm not buying a new phone when this one works fine. Especially since she's 14 and this captivate is a huge upgrade for her.

Ok. So what would it take to get MIUI ported onto SR? What's the process? I tried everything on my HD2 and i always ended up with MIUI. And now i upgraded to SR and would love to install MIUI on it. How to we initiate it?
It boots but no data, someone said they fixed data and will give me the zip but haven't received anything
