[Q] ROM without persistent notification bar? - Nexus S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am wondering if there is a Nexus S 4g ROM without persistent notification bar?
My Evo has many nice ROMs, and the notifications are only there when you need them. The Nexus seems to have the notification bar on at all times - rendering the usable screen real estate smaller than it needs to be...
Before I just start trying every single ROM, does anyone know about this?
Thanks.

[Q] How to hide notification bar?

Anyone know how to hide the notification bar? When I'm using apps I don't want to see the notification/status bar, as I want to utilize the full screen.
So no way to accomplish this?

I am a "noob", but my experience with the TF is that the notification bar is not part of the viewing screen. I could be way off base here.
Using the Gallery app the notification bar remains, but the icons are dimmed (small dots), touching the area and they appear. . Using Moboplayer the notification bar icons remain bright.
Give it a try and you'll see what I mean
i like to too. i hate that frikken white they used for the nav buttons. stock would have been better. the white is so damn annoying when reading or watching movies (i use mobo so it doesn't hide).
i have tried modaco's rom but since it's the ww version some apps don't show up.

[Q] Any way to make status bar longer / wider to show more icons / notifications ?

Hi guys,
Is there any way to make our status bar longer / wider ? It really irritates me that some notifications do not show up on the status bar (like GMail, Facebook, Tapatalk etc.), because there are other apps occuping the place in status bar permanently (like CPU Usage Monitor, Battery Indicator Pro, Tasker or Avast! Mobile Security). So sometimes if I don't catch the notification sound I can't tell there is new email, facebook event or tapatalk post just by looking at the screen. I need to click on the status bar to see all the notifications. I turned off permanent notifications for some programs like Tasker or Avast, but this way they are not prevented to be killed by internal task manager. Taking into consideration the fact that status bar occupies only small part of the screen I would say it is a huge waste of space. Is there any way to hack it and make it longer / wider to display more icons / notifications ? My HTC Sensation shows more icons in the status bar and it has this nice arrow sign to indicate there are additional notifications. Here we don't have such indicator.
I'm not absolutely sure about the stock ROM -- although I think I do know and that the answer should be in the negative -- but on CM10, for example, there is an option to display the number of open notifications in the task bar. I haven't tested it so far -- if I remember to, I will give it a shot and report back in.
Bottom line: probably on a custom ROM.

[Q] Notification Power Buttons on Stock Rom

Hey Guys,
everyone, who for once has been using cyanogen mod, knows what i am talking about.
These little small buttons in the notification bar, to control wifi, data, gps and bluetooth...
I loved them on my defy and I'm sad about not having them on the razr.
Nevertheless, i would love to have them without changing the rom, so here is the Question:
Is there a possibility to mod the SystemUi.apk or/and other parts of the System so that i can have them fully functional on Stock Rom or is it straightaway impossible.
I have just checked the SystemUi of cm10 and there are files in there, which seems to be responsible for the Buttons, but i cant really figure out the magic happening in the Background, making them Appear in notifications.
Hope anyone knows an answer, greetz Esok
I use Notification Toggle:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.j4velin.notificationToggle&hl=en
Works the same but has a persistent icon in the statusbar...I don't even notice it now.

[Q] How to force full screen for everything?

Hi there. Lovin the N5 so far. Definitely the fastest phone I have ever used (and I've used tons). Trying to move to more gesture based things and looking for a way to hide the status / nav bars so I can just use Pie and swipe down for status bar / notifications. I can use GMD Gesture Controls to hide both, but it reverts back to normal after I lock the screen. Plus the status bar doesn't swipe down easily if at all like that. Anyone else have any ideas or just have to wait till more devs get their N5s to build up the KitKat support for mods?

Does this phone have status bar notifications?

Hey guys just want to know a simple thing before I buy the P20. I rely on status bar notifications when using the phone as I keep certain apps silent. Since this phone has a notch I wanted to know if out of the box there is enough room for at least a couple of icons like if I have WhatsApp and Facebook notifications then will it show in the status bar? Some of the screenshots of this phone show the status bar crammed with system icons not leaving room for other apps. Can we reduce the clutter without rooting or adb?
The Pocophone for example does not have ANY third party status bar icons and there is nothing that can be done about it without root. So I want to make sure that this is not the case with the P20.

You can control notification permissions yourself which you want to see and which you don't want to see. There's plenty of settings.
