Winamp displaying low quality album art? - General Questions and Answers

Do any of you guys here use the winamp player? its pretty cool but the album art it displays is is low quality, any workround for this ? it looks pretty crappy

I'm using Winamp. For me quality is not bad. Sometime cover not displaying. I thing it should be, becouse this is music player but not the image viewer.

The quality of the album art and the whole player itself is aweful on my Desire HD. That's why i'm not using it.

Album art quality seems good to me with winamp on my vibrant.

Is CorePlayer worth the money?

Do people feel that Coreplayer on the HD2 is sufficiently much better than TCPMP that it justifies the price premium?

In my opinion not really:
Does not read MKV files / H264 in spite of claim to do so (this is a huge let down)
streaming support is lacking (Windows Player can read streams that Coreplayer can't).
If you want to manage your music library there are other alternatives
No, useless in my opinion. WMP or HTC Album do a better job.
CorePlayer:
- is very old (the developer never seriously updated the current version and is also unable to deliver a v2).
- No hardware acceleration,
- cannot play AC3,
- cannot play MKV,
- cannot play real HD movies,
- has no recent codecs,
- has a very old interface.
It's a dying software.
Kinoma Play is much more promissing.

Serriously htc album and wmp can play video better on the hd2 than coreplayer can, and version 2 is coming soon yup soooooooon (yawn)
There's no question that HTCAlbum and Media Player do a better job on video formats they actually support, but that's not many. I need something to play back downloaded xvids as well. TCPMP doesn't do too bad a job, but I'm wondering how much of an improvement I'd see with CorePlayer.
Actually there's one other possible issue when comparing with HTCAlbum and PMP besides format-compatibility and that's colour adjustment; TCPMP allows some tweaking of the video decoding - brightness, contrast, saturation, and white balance. The colour temperature on my HD2 is shifted quite badly to blue, so playback using TCPMP looks better if I can dial the blue down a bit. This option isn't available in HTCAlbum, and I haven't yet found it in Pocket Media Player (although I haven't looked very hard).
There's an additional problem in TCPMP, here, in that what appears to be the optimum combination of settings for maximum Benchmark framerate also happens to be one that disallows any video adjustments except brightness. (It disables dithering as well). The settings in question: use DirectDraw as renderer, then choose YUY2 as your overlay format, uncheck "use colorkey" and "use blitting" and check "use device stretching". If I switch to using RGB overlays instead of YUY2 then all the colour adjustment controls come back, but playback is much less smooth.
I assume Coreplayer has similar issues, but if it's sufficiently much faster in terms of basic performance then a colour-adjustable format may still play faster than an non-adjustable one in TCPMP.
So, what sort of performance difference is there? I'm guessing the difference is smaller than it would be on (say) a Touch HD because there's no HD2 equivalent to using QTV overlays...?
Hi
I use CorePlayer very often, and my opinion is: drag & drop Your (not compressed) *.avi file on memory card and enjoy fine quality on almost full screen resolution. About music: choose folder with Your music (mp3) , select all files and put headphones on.
CorePlayer is miles better than TCPMP, there is absolutely no doubt about it. Yet it has annoying limitations, so it's miles away from being perfect or even excellent. Such is the sad state of affairs with regard to video playback on mobile devices that CorePlayer is the best we have... At least we have it on WM, iPhone and Android don't even come close.
I used coreplayer for as long as I can remember. OK it's not PERFECT. but it does the job VERY nicely. No other program I tried, for the kick of it, made the job like coreplayer can.

Album Cover Image Quality on stock Music Player

Does anyone know how to improve the image quality of the album cover shown on the stock music player?
My album covers are typically at a resolution of 500X500 and are .jpg but when displayed on the Captivate's stock music player they appear blurry.
Thanks!

[Q] What is your video (movie) play back with various video players?

For some reason EVERY video player I have has some flaw in it when it comes to video playback on the Sensation. Rock Player used to be my go to player on the hd2. On the sensation, I am getting slow playback and the voices will not sync properly. mVideo is the same thing, but more so. I used to use this one for for music videos. With the voices not in sync it really sucks. The video player that comes with the Sensation has the best sound, but I put in an .avi of a movie and the playback is pixelated.
I don't convert movies because I never did it on the hd2 and the two codecs I primarily use, .avi and .mp4, have NEVER given me an issue. Should I be more worried than I am? Is it only my Sensation? Should I take it back? your thoughts/experiences...
DICE Player has worked for me. It has a trial as well.
I used the default player and MoboPlayer
mobo only for dice player FC always

Movies looking pixelated on Galaxy 10.1 Note

Got a bunch of digital copies of movies from DVD/Blu-Ray's I've bought, unfortunately they look pixelated and or blocky on the tablet. Is this because the resolution of the tablet is 1280×800 and most of these movies are DVD quality which somewhere around 640x480? Is there any way to convert them to higher res?

Are you using the built-in video player or something else? I had this issue when I was using MX Player and fixed it by changing the decoding.

Tried using MX Player and doesn't look any better. Maybe just the initial movie quality is bad.
My two cents.
MX Player's software decoder tend to pixelize movies a bit, even movies that are encoded in 720p or 1080p. The color gradient is terrible. I tried hardware mode and it seems to fix the pixelazation problem a bit. Although using the stock video player seem to yield better movie playback results.
To answer your other question, you cannot increase the resolution of a movie file. You have to go back to the original movie, and re-encode it at a higher res. In the case of the digital copies, you are pretty much stuck at the resolution the created the file with.

[Q] Dice player cuts off video from sides ?

I have been using Dice video player for sometime, mostly because it has playback speed control.
But I notice that for some videos (mkv 1280x720), it cuts off the sides, especially top and bottom parts, as if zoomed in.
same video plays fine in MX player.
Anyone using dice player and notice this problem ?
Any suggestions to solve this ?
Another thing is when taking a screenshot with this player, i only get a black screen image.
what could be causing this ?
Thanks
HTC Desire S
