Ok, so my Desire is on order (and has been for ages!!! AAARGH!) and I obviously want to protect it. My first thought was the InvisibleShield but having read the thread on here, it seems that it really doesn't make the screen look or feel good and that is a dealbreaker for me. I have come from the crappy feeling touch HD and am totally jealous of my mates iPhone 3GS' glass screen, which feels lovely.
So what do you think the best options are?
1. InvisibleShield all over (40% off coupon is v tempting)
2. InvisibleShield on back, and other screen protector on front (if so which one feels/looks best?)
3. Nothing on back, screen protector on front...
?
Thanks a lot!
Honestly, I hate to use any protector, either on the back nor front.
The Desire itself is very gorgeous, magnificent and pretty as it is. Putting plastic ala condom does not do justice here.
But yeah, we still need to protect it. As a human, we are not perfect (yesterday I crashed my car).
To balance this, I choose to only protect the screen glass by using screen protector from martinfields.com (still on order). It is quite pricey but I am satisfied with the quality on my older devices + nintendo DSi.
Here if you want to know martin fields with nexus one:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=622353
And I use kind of pouch from soft leather to protect it from "dust":
http://www.fommy.com/view-full-page...oogle+Nexus+One+PB99100&cat=Cases&skuno=82280
The superb design is still maintained
I've got the brando one and its very good.
Do brando ship to UK?
yes brando do, one got one being shipped ad we speak.

Here you go mate.Uk seller.
I went for the Matin Fields protector, more expensive that the Brando though.
I've personally not receieved it yet but judging by the people who have it's supposed to be very good indeed?
i got the zagg one but it is to resistive for multi-touch mainly pinch zoom, can anyone review the brando one clear/anti glare ? pic if possible.
thanks
Cant do pics but take my word for it,its very good,if you put it on properly you cant even tell its there and very easy to apply.

It arrived this afternoon.
Very easy to apply, no bubbles at all. You can take it off, wash it and apply again if need be.
The touch sensitivity is exactly the same as before it was put on, very happy with it.
Personally having seen a friend with a cheap ebay screen protector on his Desire my advice would be to avoid them.
Ok, well having read this and other forums, I think Im gonna buy a Martin Fields or a Brando protector.
Any reason why I should spend almost 2x the price to get a Martin Fields one over the Brando (I dont particularly care about the cam lens cover, although it is a plus) ?

After reading loads of stuff about both, I finally pulled the trigger and went for the Martin Fields ones. Mainly because I couldn't be arsed for the Brando ones to be delivered from the US . I have a Zagg invisibleSHIELD on at the moment, and a) it was damaged when it came b)it's way too tacky and c) it looks crap, so I can't wait to get rid of it.
MobileFun have two for £18, and if you use MFFREE as a discount code, you get £2.50 knocked off, so essentially free shipping.
Hopefully mine will come Friday, MF are usually pretty quick. I'll let you know how it goes when I get them.
Great thread, thanks for the advice & feedback. Just ordered a Martin Shields with the MF code for free shipping.
It seems like MF and Brando are the way to go..
I've got a Zagg one atm, and although it does the job I might have to return it at some point soon. There's too much of a plastic feel to it. I'd much prefer the glass feel minus a shield but I guess sacrifices have to be made
MartinField (MF) is a VERY good screen protector, but it is so damn expensive as well.
When I was using my HTC Kaiser, I went to several cheappie screen protectors and all were crap. Yeah, I did not know at that time. I was trying to get the cheapest one
Even I was tricked to buy a 10+ package of screen protector for cheap!
Believe me, you must invest for this.
I am not steering you to go with MF, as other user said he got the one from Brando and also very good.
Bottom line, if you dont have a favorite brand ... then just pick one, but not the cheappie one or the 10+ package deal.
Then stick with that brand.
As for me, I am very satisfied with MF. Very easy to apply and always NO BUBBLES.
Put it on my old HTC Kaiser, HTC Touch Dual and Nintento DSi.
Ordered for HTC Desire, not yet arrive.
found this what do you guys think GENUINE?
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Martin-Fields...ting_LaptopAccessories_RL&hash=item53e0fd8a12
I might order it today
I've bought martin fields protectors from Morpeth mobiles for my last 3 phones over a period of 3-4 years and I have never had cause for concern that they might be fakes. I have used their main online store rather than ebay though, but I can't see that there would be a difference.
Someone from morpeth mobiles posts on her occasionally too.
I do wish they would sell the martin fields twin packs though, as they are often cheaper than buying them individually and I always like to have a spare
I've had a Brando Ultraclear on my Hero. After applying the protector I noticed a small decrease in sensitivity.
Last week my Desire arrived, and I really had to adjust to the very sensitive screen. Much more stray touches, especially in the lower corner where my thumb is always close to the screen.
I'm gonna stick to the ultraclear.

The stock one. Best price/quality ratio IMO. There are slightly better ones but ridiculously expensive. And the invisible shield is crap (at least for the iphone4, and I would never put it on my DHD).
Yes, definitely stay away from Zagg & other helicopter-blade-derived solutions. They are good for protecting the body from scratches, but you don't want that sticky, orange-peely screen protector.
My personal favourite over the last few devices I have owned, has been Martin Fields, but it is very expensive.
I have put on the stock HTC one, bought from a local seller on ebay.
The only thing to watch out for when applying it, is that there is a top and a bottom to the screen protector... the top has a slightly different profile compared to the bottom, and the HTC protector at least has the peel-away piece of plastic at the top.

I'm just curious - when did you buy the stock protector and does it have the two little bubbles at the top-left corner (where the peel-away piece was)? I'm hoping that HTC corrected their manufacturing line because on the early batches of the protectors (I bought mine Nov 2010) there are the two bubbles.
HTC original is the best indeed, little expensive but you get quality, had tried alot of others, all damage very fast !
I recomment the original HTC screen protector. They fit perfectly, but it's kinda hard to put them on without any dust and dirt. I tried it with one protector about 5 times, but had to wash it with water to get off the dirt. After a party, my screen was ****ed up. I don't know why, but I think it was a good idea to use a protector. So I removed it and now I have 3 scratches and a alot of very very small ones.

No, neither of the 2 that were in the pack, had bubbles - or unneveness in the top left corner.
I must say that I dislike putting screen protectors on, and the DHD seemed to be the most difficult of the 5 or 6 I have put on, due to how air gets in even if the protector is not aligned perfectly. Got it right eventually though

Weird. I'm using the "ZAGG Invisible Shield HTC Desire HD Skin" for 8 months now and it's still as clear as without it.
Bought 20 for a few pounds on ebay, the cheap ones work fine like any else. Even though they take scratches to them easy, you can easily wear 'em out for at least 6 months, and then you just apply a new one of your 20! 10 year lifespan is not bad, although I doubt I'll keep my phone for that long!
Must agree with you Juusuhako, also boght some cheap screen protectors, which saved my screen from geting broke when it slipt once from my hands.
For me they last about 3-4 months

+1 on that!
sedio ultimate screen gaurd. I wrote a review on it some time ago, by far the best i've ever used.
Does the original HTC one slide well? Cause most of the time they're a little sticky and make the utilization less smooth.
I use the protection ship with the Case-mate "Barely there" and it's good for me : good smoothness, no bubbles and easy to install.
With my previous desire i put a vikuiti DQC 160 and i find it more easy to install.
HTC protectors are fantastic indeed, but my own has the same two bubble problem described in the first posts.

I keep mine in the HTC branded leather case. 6 months of daily use, and it's immaculate. I could wipe the screen on my shirt and it would look like it was just unboxed.
I can't say the same for my Topaz, which is scratched, grazed, and chipped all over. Screen protectors protect the screen; Pouches protect the phone.
Hi Guys. I just want to share my experience with ZAGG. I just got it and I installed it myself it was really difficult specially this my first ZAGG. And this some pic for any one want to get ZAGG.
Thankyou for sharing your pics, it looks great.

I'm quite impressed with the screen protector part of the package (which I also purchased). Would you happen to have any tips for applying it as flawlessly as you did?
I won't be getting Zagg again. I went through a several of them on my Vibrant but I could never get one that didn't have vertical lines that turned into rainbows when the screen was on. Also, I couldn't get use to the 'rubber' feel of the screen and just took it off.
Once I got the "Realook" I never looked back. I hope they come out with a screen protector for the Sensation.
Looks pretty nice, good job on the install!
So zagg went with 3 pieces of film on the back, I wonder how that is going to hold up in regards to the film peeling after a few months of use.
I got the full body film from Phantom Skinz and they did a 1 piece film for the back cover. I think it might the install a bit harder, though.
If you want to compare and contrast, I put up some pics here:

Awsome Shiled ..any idea how much is it ?
The hardest part I couldn't do it and I throw it away the piece in top for the camera It was very tiny and it gave me a big headache. But I am happy with that. I got the maximum. It's almost 7 pieces.

Max protection is $24.99 but you can always get a discount. I only paid $22, shipping included.
I'll never buy or recommend this product. Too grippy and has the orange peel effect. I had the full coverage on my wildfire and it felt really cheap!
I'm really considering buying the ZAGG shield to but as already been said I'm afraid the back will peel since it's 3 seperate parts.
But I'm really happy with the ZAGG shield on my iPad!
Anybody already had the feeling the back isn't gonna stay on for long?
And how are the soft keys responding with a screen protector over it?

100 % nice work ..excellent
I am sure there is nothing wrong with the Zagg skin, but i had one whole body skin from Zagg on my HTC Desire, and after a while it starts to sweat out glue, and that made me not wanting it.. The screen protector works fine too, although in the beginning it is very 'rubbery', but as you use it it gets better to handle. Best feeling is always just glass!
Get bestskinsever its a lot cheaper and the same thing.

Thanks for your post,
Just order zagg film for my sensation!
I will report my experience too!
I used a Zagg shield for my Touch Pro 2. I love the shield but after a few months it does start peeling. I contacted Zagg and got a free replacement but I reckon the Sensation shield will start to peel, on the back pieces and the sides.
I think I'll get a TPU case and put a screen protector on.
Thanks for the pics though - I hope you have a better experience with your shield. You did a great application!
just ordered my desire s (finally after a 2 month wait!)
looking for any reccomendations for screen protectors?
prefably want a hard wearing long lasting one.
anyone use the official htc ones? any good?
or should i settle for the full body coverage invisible shield? (used them in the past)
cheers!
i use the one included on otterbox, its actually very good, still has not a single scratch since i bought it 2 months ago
Same goes for the protectors included with Case-Mate cases. They feel as smooth as the glass they protect which I think is important. The cheap ones just add friction, and are a pig to apply without fluff bubbles!
Case-mate ones can also be bought separately with out a case.

I tried the official htc ones and they both ended up in the bin! For some reason the type of film they use is different, as the act of peeling the backing off super-charges the thing up with static. Every dust particle in the room rushes to stick to it. Had no such problems with the several case mate ones I've applied.

Just waiting for the phone to arrive tommorow morning!!!
I bought the original HTC on ebay , very cheap about 5€ , in the shop they are 10€ !
This is a thick film , very scratch resistant !!! easy to apply , no air bubbles whatsoever, very clear film and me very happy.
Not using a film is looking for trouble, okay, it's gorilla glass , but i hear of people who managed to scratch this to, so spend a little money and keep the screen scratchfree !!

I have the invisible shield on my HTC Desire (Looking to get the Desire S in the next month or so), the invisible shield is good, but I have been sort of disappointed by it.
I had another phone in my pocket one night (Nokia 6300) and the camera part must have pressed against the screen and has left a permanent indentation on the invisible shield screen protector. It is a good protector, but also it is the most tedious protector I have ever applied, you really do have to "stretch" the protector when applying to get it to sit nicely.
Its your choice, but I would really think about it for a little while longer before you put your money down on an invisible shield protector.
As far as what I've read though, I've got a feeling my protection plan when it comes to the Desire S will involve a Case-Mate barely there case ... when they're in stock again from Australian suppliers.

Yeh, i have used the universal invisible shiel on my tg01 before (i custom cut it for the screen)
Had it on since september, has lasted very well, no peelings anywhere, but it has scratches on it
So i guess they aren't really 'indestructable, scratch proof' as claimed on their website!
But they still hold out very well compared to other standard screen protectors.
When you had it on your desire, was it still possible to use a case aswell? Did it add much thickness?
I wouldnt mind if there was another type of protector, mainly, i want to protect the back of the desire (aluminium casing etc) from scrathes.
The only manufacturer that offers a thin/screen protector is invible shield.
Are there any other manufacturers that make films/screen guards for the back of the desire s??
Thanks for your contribution!

Yup, I tried Zagg just because I got their headphones for $10 if I bought the shield. I took it off after a week, the orange peel affect is horrific. I also noticed it was a lot thinner than Ghost Armor, not sure if that's matters in normal situations though.. lol

Hey y'all, noob here, just got my One S the other day, and just got my Diztronic case from Amazon today, love it! Those screen protectors that come with it are crap tho, and was looking into the Ghost Armor. One other question, is anyone using the full-body GA skin in addition to a regular case, such as the Diztronic or Incipio? Just curious. Thanks!

I've never had the ghost armor full body, but I did had zagg full body and it didn't peel up. Once you let it dry it sticks pretty well, just don't put a case on it for at least 24 hours maybe more to let it dry.
I'd imagine Ghost Armor would be better, their screen protector is soooo much better than Zagg's.
I actually need to get a replacement from Ghost Armor, for some reason the bottom part keeps wanting to come up.
I´am using the antireflex protector from mumbi and i´am very happy with it. Feels good and looks really pretty.
how it looks GhostArmor Clear for the back ? any pic ?
i'm surprised no one mentioned htc's own screen protector for the one s. there are a few sellers on ebay from uk selling them. i picked up a couple awhile ago for about USD$9 shipped.
Got my Ghost Armor (screen only) today, and just applied it. Took 2 tries, but I nailed it on the second attempt, got it perfectly lined up. I've been going back with the little squeegee and squishing out some of the smaller little bubbles over the last hour or so, and as long as you get the squeegee wet, it works pretty well to smooth out the little guys. So far, I like it a lot, doesn't have that rubbery-drag feel of the Zagg I had on my G2, or the orange peel. I'll report back in a day or so to update.
krusell
I got a KRUSELL screen film for my one S a couple of days ago and I'm thrilled with it. It is completely transparent and does not affect in any way the brightness and colors, and it doesn't have that squeaky feel.
I had an invisible shield on my previous Desire for about 8 months, it's good if you are a frequent phone dropper but if not it makes your screen uglier, it's like heaving sweat on it all the time and also affects the touch sensitivity.
All in all, would definetly recommend the Krusell.
Alright, so I made it about 5 days, and I think I'm ditching the screen protector. Yes, the peace of mind of the added protection is nice, but to be honest, I'm not really worried about it enough to keep this. I had my HTC G2 for almost 2 years, which didn't even have Gorilla Glass, and by the time I sold it, it had ONE hardly noticeable scratch in the top-left corner of the screen.
The Ghost Armor goes on relatively simple enough, but in 3 applications, I've found it impossible to keep at minimum 2-3 specks of dust out from under it when I go to smooth it down, which create a bubble you CANNOT get rid of, and I can feel them under my fingertips when scrolling around on the screen. For someone as anal as myself when it comes to things like this, these make my head want to explode. I'm also noticing around the edge of the film (which doesn't extend all the way to the edges of the screen, and I find this to be really lame), it's gathering dust and finger... gunk. Finally, and I might be alone in this, but I think it takes the sharpness of the display away. Not to a hugely noticeable amount, but it's there, and it bugs the hell out of me.
Any nice cases that are comparable to outerbox but with a lens protector?
Sent from my HTC VLE_U using xda app-developers app
I tried the 'Greatshield AG' (product title on Amazon below, can't link since I'm newb.) - 3 pack for like $7.
Sucks. Feels and performs great, but causes a pixellated rainbow 'shimmer' on the screen, highly annoying. Might try some of the others in this thread to see.
Avoid these.

I tried the 'Greatshield AG' (product title on Amazon below, can't link since I'm newb.) - 3 pack for like $7.
