If I remove bootani.qmg and bootsamsungloop.qmg and replace them with a bootanimation.zip? Should it work with this ROM?

I'm tempted to Odin, flash, and report.

Can we restore a backup to go back to ext4/froyo if we want to go back?
I don't remember how I got to ext4 in the first place.

Rob
Do you plan on releasing an ext4 version or are you going to wait until final release for that.
Just when you think your out....they drag you back in.
Thanks for all that you do for the community, both on here and the autism awareness community. You are a class act.
Samsung Epic Midnight 5.2 (for now)

No. You need a custom kernel for bootanimation.zip's to work. This kernel is still stock.

[ROM] midNIGHT ROM v5.5 BYOR Edition. TWEAKED and Journaling ON 6/17/2011

Welcome to midNIGHT ROM v5.4 BYOR Edition.
I'm gonna have to rebuild this OP but for now, in a nutshell, this is what I have for you.
midNIGHT ROM v5.4 BYOR Edition: EC05 Uploading currently
Change Log:
This ROM is FULLY tweaked with ALL the standards PLUS Journaling is ON.
midNIGHT Extras has been updated
Restored Clock
updated scripts
LauncherPro (updated)
What you get here is everything you have come to love about the midNIGHT BYOR series with the added stability of Journaling ON. I have personally been having to many issues with Journaling OFF.
While my daily driver is the Nexus S 4G my wife and kids utilize the Epic 4G each and every day. The Epic is my preferred device for Android4Autism. With these devices being dropped (by my kids) and the batteries popping out, everything would just go straight to FC hell. I was reflashing these things all the time as a result. So I integrated the new Bonsai Journaling ON script into my updater script and the result has been a much stabler experience. So I figured I would refresh my last release and share it with all of you.
What will you find in this ROM.
New Default wallpaper (Autism and Fibromyalgia Awareness)
Fascinate Calendar
Contacts
Battery modded Camera (VERY,VERY big Thanks to k0nane)
Task Manager/Hotspot (As they can’t safely be removed)
CIQ Removed
Launcher Pro as default and ONLY included launcher (unistallable)
Bonsai Kernel v4.0.1
VERY BIG THANKS to the Bonsai team for the Journaling ON script. Thanks guys.....
Instructions: This WILL Backup and Restore.
If you are coming from v5.3 BYOR Edition you "should" be fine with out wiping. If you experience problem then wipe and reflash.
1) Download the ROM and read my blog while your waiting
2) Copy the .zip to your SDcard and delete the current midNIGHT ROM Extras folder from your card as well.
3) Flash the ROM and reboot
4) Enjoy
Link to the Bonsai Source Code for the v4.0.1 Kernel used in this release. http://code.google.com/p/bonsai/source/browse/#
If you need to Root your phone I VERY strongly recommend using MasterKey by the Bonsai team. You can even reroot with Masterkey and take advantage of the New Bonsai Recovery. Very Nice Work

Personally, I'm using the new bonsai recovery. You can grab the MasterKey from their site (for free) and reroot. That will install the new recovery. But CW3 will work as well. Just preference.
Very nice to see you developing for epic still, rob. I will try this as soon as I finish beta testing the latest kernel for bonsai

Okay... I just said I wouldn't be flashing any more roms for a while, considering I'm running on a restored backup now. Black Ice sure knock the wind out of me. But this is tempting!
before I do... Should I delete my INIT.D file or will it be over written?
Would it make any difference to Odin back to stock? Did you update the link with tw (I'd like to limit the flashes I have to endure... Once again thanks to Black Ice though worth the pain)?
Once again thank you!!

Bonsai 5 B13 wont go into deep sleep on my phone. That's the only EF02 Rom I have tried. Anyone seeing that with this rom?

Flashing the stock font should work. Have you tried manually dripping them in the font folder and rebooting. I'll look at it in the morning. Maybe I zipped up the wrong fonts.

The zip was messed up. The hierarchy was wrong. I fixed it. Should work now. As far as the CRT and overscroll goes, I haven't seem them for this build and it was't my mod the last time.
I will definately try this out when I get home! Thanks again for all you do for the epic comunity. One question, and I apologize if it is stupid. I know this says rfs only, but is there any way to convert this to ext4? Your roms have always been of highest quality and exactly what I'm looking for, but the EE03 rom feels really slow and I know it has to do with rfs. I tried the only ef02 ext4 rom I could find and it was fast, but I had too many problems with GPS and other things. Thanks again, and I am autisim aware because of you.

The kernel has to be modded to support ext4. I'm not a kernel guy. I could possibly borrow the bonsai kernel but we all know where that would lead. I think this leak is better then EE03 was. At this point, when the OTA hits EXT4 will be available. However, this still feels pretty quick to me. I don't even use an Epic cause I'm using the Nexus S 4G but have this on my wife's phone and I don't notice much of a difference. I tend to ignore the benchmarks and go with how it feels in the real world.
While this build or leak isn't perfect it does seem pretty solid.

[ROM][ERA][EC05] Simply AOSP Version 4.01 Released 10/17/11

Simply AOSP 4.0
NOT SO STANDARD DISCLAIMER:
I, nor any of the ERA team is (are?) responsible for bricked phones, damaged SD cards, bad flashes, hurt feelings, crying, sleepless nights, restless leg syndrome, constipation, Cher, or any of the other various things you may encounter by installing custom firmware on your phone. Reboot into recovery, wipe everything 3 times, select ROM. Those are your instructions. Anything you do outside of that is on you.
Changelog:
Completely new base ROM used. Ecooce's as-of-yet unreleased Frankenstein v.4 was used as the base for this version. Ecooce provided a very stable, very small ROM that works perfectly with the Simply AOSP we've come to know and love.
All of the latest and greatest build.prop tweaks have come together to create a very fast and stable ROM with excellent battery life.
Volume Hack (Thanks mkasick)
Hotspot Hack (Thanks necrosan)
RFS/EXT4 Compatible (Thanks Officerpolabear)
Wifi scan interval set to 5 minutes to save battery
Simply Settings theme app included
Original Moto Droid 1 AOSP wallpaper (The one that started it all! Well, sort of...)
Genocide 2.0 Kernel (Thanks Rodderick)
Root/SU in ROM rather than kernel, feel free to flash!
Journaling On by default
No default memory-killing settings: compatible with v6 supercharger and other great scripts (by popular demand!)
Audio files and sound defaults from Cyanogenmod used for alarms, notifications, ringtones, and UI. Really can't get more AOSP than that!
I know everyone says this, but there really is a lot included that isn't listed here. There was a lot of moving and tweaking until just the right mix was found.
Huge thanks to TheDub, JohnCorleone, Ksmullins, Compkid, the ERA Team, and a whole slew of other people that helped with testing and answering questions. I couldn't have done it without you!
A COUPLE OF NOTES:
Updated Changelog
We tried to correct all of the issues that people had mentioned; all of the original UI notification sounds are back, tts service has been put back which should correct any navigation fc's, Revolted kernel is included. Also the same hotspot hack files are included in this that I used in the ERA EC05 ROM, so everything should be good to go there.
As always, let us know what you find! Download Link Below!
HUGE, HUGE thanks to pvtjoker42. He has been instrumental in getting this release out as apparently my internet service provider forgot the "provider" part and I've had no way to upload this. Also his persistence and reliability in testing this ROM have been invaluable. Find him and thank him.
This is EC05 based
The lockscreen mod is NOT built into this ROM. A tough decision to make considering it is one of my very favorite mods, but in the end it detracted from the AOSP feel of the ROM.
After to speaking with TheDub who was kind enough to let me update his ROM, he has suggested not including other themes with the Simply Settings app. While there are many great themes out there, I have chosen to respect his wishes.
You will find the standard Froyo, Touchwiz, and Gingerbread themes included.
This ROM is small; about 117 MB actually. That was one of my goals because if you're anything like me I download a LOT of ROMs directly to my phone. That being said, there aren't a lot of apps included in there. Please make sure you have good, recent backups of anything you may want.
With all of that being said, please download and enjoy! I will be checking this thread OFTEN so please come back and let me know what you think. We have done a lot of testing with this and haven't found any ROM-related problems (personal note, don't try and load 137 apps all at once. It slows things down. Yep, that was me...)
Please let me know if you have run into anything and I will try my best to help you.

This is based off of Froyo. I try and leave all of the leaks to ksmullins and I kinda fool with all of our EC05 Roms. Until GB drops, that is, and I'm out of a job!
The hotspot and volume hacks are included but the lockscreen isn't. In order to add it (and I haven't tested this theory) I would think it best to use an AIO Mod rather than just the lockscreen mod as they seem to modify some of the same files and I'm not sure if everything would be functional afterwards.
Also, JohnCorleone and a couple of others had tested with various EC05 themes and found no problems. I would venture to say that 'most' EC05 themes should work just fine.

As long as you are on the most current CWM and wipe everything 3 times you should be fine. I've personally flashed between GB and Froyo countless times without any problems.
Anyone willing to provide some "sexy screenshots" of this ROM?

If no one else gets any put up I will try to get some screen shots tomorrow if I can. (That turned out about as non-committal as possible...truth is mine doesn't look like stock anymore but if need be I can reflash and take some.)

Awesome, I'm flashing this ASAP...
Will you... marry me? OH also, i'm having a bit of trouble with system sounds. Is it just me?
Thanks!! Wow, a new Froyo ROM, this late in the dance! I'm psyched!
JohnC or KyleS- any advice on themes? Do the B-Reezy themes that Kyle modified with Maddog's lock mod work ok? I will be trying out myself later- gotta mow the lawn first.

[ROM][FC19][BML][MTD] Stock Odexed Prerooted

This is all Darkierawr's work putting this together. He asked me to release it if I have time as he does not. So I tested both files by Odining back to stock, rooted and flashed the BML then the MTD version from there. If you see Darkie around make sure to hit a thanks for him.
The MTD version will convert you from BML also and that is a big thanks to Toadlife for his conversion script.
So this is a flashable of the odexed full stock prerooted of the FC19 leak. Big thanks to Whosdaman for getting the tar for us.
The FC19 modem is here: http://d-h.st/eU1
For Odin installation of modem - Odin 1.85: http://d-h.st/i1Q
This was rooted with shadowkernel so thanks to Bbelos!
The FC19 leak had the Sprint Connections Optimizer conspicuously missing so was this a backup plan? Who knows. Check it out if you like.
BML version:

MTD version:

Neither I nor Darkierawr are responsible if you brick your phone, partner breaks up with, favorite show gets cancelled, a dingo eats your baby, a tornado takes you to Oz, or of course the Zombie apocalypse!

very nice
Finally a flashable as usual u guys rock!! any reason not deodexed??
Odin is still definetly the way to do it.. coming from fc09 all the apps came with but still have 4g randomly coming on plus random reboots and freezing up when scrolling through the market hopefully this fixes all that. would still love to have sound for boot animation and some kind of sutdown animation would rock... any chance??
Taking 2nd just to say "thanks" and hope you had fun at the birthday party! I'm way too happy on Rom Populei v2.1, but if I ever need it, I'm glad the genius of KG123 brought it!

Coming from Odin of FC09 on BML this has all stock boot ani and sound. The MTD kernel used has the flashing Android waiting for you to stick in bootani and sound of choice. As for deodexed...easily done with Xultimate or deodexed tool of choice. If there is a big demand for the stock deodexed FC19 leak I will do it for you guys. I think Sleeper also posted a deodexing and odexing tool.

A quick google will get you better answers but odexed means each apk in app folder and each jar file in framework folder is coupled with an odex file making it more difficult to theme or mod. Deodexed combines needed info into the apk files as well as in classes.dex. Then just the apk or jar file can be modded.

thanks kenny

The only thing deodexed is used for is theming and modding.
If you're not going to be doing either of those flashing this should be fine.
How do we strip out the Sprint bloatware? Once it's rooted, can it just be uninstalled? Or will it come out with one of the uninstaller apps?
I think it's time to try something stock again- as much as I like ThunderHawk4, I'd really like my data to work correctly by itself all the time.
I have a personal [unproven] theory that different phones react differently to different ROM/kernel combinations. My first EPIC definitely played better with a greater variety than my current refurb. Maybe STOCK is easiest for some?

Titanium backup can uninstall system apps. You can also delete them out of system\app directory with 7zip before installing.

Is there another tool besides Xultimate to deodex? For reasons too boring to explain here, I can't use Xultimate.

What does it look like?
i was hesitant to flash this due to the 2.0 / 2.1 bug of flashing first...
but decided to take the plunge.
so far so good.
passed the work test

2.2 will have no flashing bug and going back to FC09 with a brand new FC09 kernel courtesy of Earthbound. Tomorrow it will be released.
