Google sky extremely twitchy? - T-Mobile LG G2x

I just tried using google maps today and the accelerometer seems like it is spazzing out. The constellations twitch like crazy. This doesn't happen on any other app that uses the accelerometer (ex. Labyrinth, speedx 3d). Google sky wasn't like this on my mt4g. Is everyone else having the same issue? I'm running bionix 2 if that has anything to do with it.
Sent from my G2X running Bionix 2

I noticed thsi on stock rom too

I did an accelerometer test in the hidden menu (1809#*999#) and the accelerometer is noticeably twitchy, but it seems this only affects google sky map out of all the apps that I have used that make use of the accelerometer. I also tried changing all the sensor settings in google sky map but it didn't help.

funny i was wondering what was wrong mine did that on both the stock rom and bionix

I did that on my mytouch slide, my G2 and now also on my G2X.. i thought it was normal. *shrug*

Google Maps 5.0

So Google just updated Maps on the market to 5.0, and the vector-based drawing engine is soooo much smoother than the old raster-based engine.
However, I've been trying to find a way to "tilt" the map down into 3D view, and can't seem to find a way since our X10 lack multi-touch and the gesture is a two-finger slide. According to Google's own gesture notes under Help in the app, the X10 should support the tilt gesture (unless of course Google messed up in listing the X10 there).
Anyone figured out how to tilt the map in Google Maps 5 on your X10?
If not, anyone willing to create some hacks that add buttons to the interface to mimic MT gestures?
-edit-
Here (http://www.google.com/support/mobile/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=1079043) is the Google support article listing the X10 as "support panning, zooming, and tilting gestures only."
Here (http://www.google.com/support/mobile/bin/answer.py?answer=1079041) is the Google support article showing that to 'Tilt' the view into 3D, you perform a two-finger vertical slide, something impossible without multi-touch support.
Really is it so much nicer?!
One time I tried to update Google Maps (during the 1.6 period) and I did it "illegally" using Market Enabler because this download is not available in my country.
Right after that my battery started sucking like crazy and the Spare Parts app showed that the new update of Google Maps was responsible.
So I restored to previous version (everything back to normal) and I never updated Gmaps ever again! But with that post I am sooo tempted to try!
I have to admit the google maps is a lot faster, but i am also wondering how to get it to 3D

I've edited my OP with a link to the article that shows to get into 3D view you need to perform a multi-touch gesture.
I've also posted a request on for Brut Google Maps (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=630887) to include alternatives to the MT gestures for tilt and rotate.
Only a few phones support the new 3D feature. The X10 is not on the list. Neither is the HTC Desire. You need a new phone with a 'real' multitouch display like the Nexus S.
I can not find. whether there is a apk.

Actually, if you read the first link in my OP, you'll see that it's multi-touch gestures that are not supported on the X10 and Nexus One, not 3D as you stated. This makes sense as the X10 lacks MT support, and the Nexus One (as well as the HTC Desire which is also on that list) have MT axis crossing issues that would prevent the rotate gesture from working.

It showed up form me as an update available for Maps in the market.
What country are you in?
east europe
click the icon in the top right corner for compass mode search for san fransisco zoom in... badabing!!! 3D
This also supports cached maps for offline nav apparently, anyone know if it would be possible for instance to download full UK maps to pre cache them? Data use is bad otherwise using google nav, dont fancy driving up and down every road in the country at a set zoom and view to pre cache myself! lol

video chat and music app compatibility?

So I'm thinking about getting this phone. I'm wondering how well video chat (Skype specifically) and either btunes or Player Pro work on it. if anyone does use bTunes, does the camera button control function work in it? a short list of apps I'd really liek to knwo about, if anyone has used them on this phone:
No Lock (I know Sense has a clever lock screen, but I hate lock screens in general)
Wave Launcher
bTunes
Player Pro
Skype
No Lock
I'd also love to know if anyone has had other compatibility problems with other apps as well that I haven't mentioned, any at all. especially games. I'll be switching to a Sense phone from a stock gingerbread phone (Samsung transform Ultra), so compatibility could be a pit fall for me.
Hey, so of all those apps the only one that I have is Skype.
I am pretty amazed by how well it works. The video quality is excellent both ways, but the front facing camera does struggle a bit more in low light versus a normal webcam. Skype is fairly reliable. The video stream is clear, sound quality is good and all in all it works well. I Skyped with my friends on both Wifi and 4G for over an hour, it did however freeze a couple of times however it was difficult to tell if it was because of my phone, or the person I was Skyping with.
Can you elaborate on compatibility issues? The only "compatibility issues" I have ran into with applications regard LCD density and not being able to download from the Android Market. I changed my phone to have an LCD density of 160 rather than 240 using PropModder, and that prevented me from downloading applications like Facebook, and pretty much everything else - a simple change and reboot fixed the issue though.

Well, on the sidekick for example, Samsung changed the colors of menus and the notification drop down menu background, so if an app uses dark colored text, its difficult or impossible to see on the menu background that's also dark. It gets quite annoying. Also, no lock would often fail to block the lock screen, since it was altered by samsung, and i know sense has a diff lock screen as well. (If all these OEMs insist on modding android so much, why cant they give us an option to disable the lock screen natively for those who dont like it?)
So does anyone know about the other Apps, especially No Lock and Wave Launcher? I use those two ALOT.
Sorry to go off topic...but CM7 has the option to disable the lockscreen.

hmmm, did not know that. seems like at least those guys have some sense to them. I hope CM or a stable AOSP rom is on this thing soon, mine arrives tomorrow.
Don't have any of the apps in particular, but I've been using the phone for a few months now and haven't had any compatibility issues yet (that weren't fixed by the ROM developer).
It's been reported that changing the LCD density of this phone will cause app incompatibilites as mentioned earlier though. As long as you avoid that, I think you shouldn't have a problem.
I have plenty of games that I've played on the phone and all has worked so far. The only one not compatible so far is Asphalt.
Cm7 is pretty nice, also u can install the gapps and gapps-gtalk extra package when installing cm7, and the video call of gtalk will work well probably.I've tested it with a pc and this phone, videochat was flawless with the front camera.

GTA 3 For Xperia Play On Android Market

Yes, GTA 3 is available for Are Xperia Play, it seems it got added to the release list right at the last second, you can download is here https://market.android.com/details?id=com.rockstar.gta3.
Edit - There has been a few cases that version 1.1 will not boot correctly on the Xperia play so if you have it on your play dont update till it gets fixed.
Answer to most question's
- Was it in the list release? - Yes, it was added day 1.
- Does it support Xperia Controls - Yes
- Any Control Problems - All controls work fine most of the time but some controls can be strange and hard to figure out. Hopefully an update fixes this.
- How does the Game Play - the game runs good at almost all times, from time to time i do see some random slow down but 95% time it's fine
- Issues and Bugs - Draw Radius can mess up, Random slow down time to time, Control issues & Crashing with v1.1.
Some of the reviews say it works with Xperia Play controls. Wonder if touchpads are included?
It won't let me download it on my CM7 Rom. Haha. Any way around this and force it?
I will download it and try it out
over 400mb.....
wow
It works and performance isn't bad. It does slow down here and there and overall frame rate seems about the same or maybe slightly better than the original PS2 version.
I haven't played it for very long though and haven't really stressed it out much.
All controls work including touchpads but they are not optimised. you can't auto aim or lock onto an enemy so shooting/hitting someone can be tricky.
Also, it seems to use less battery than FPSE and FIFA12.
Majority of the Controls arent working for me , I have an R800i, for some reason when I hop into a car its stuck on turning left, but walking and running is grand. Dpad works on the slide out controls , no analog functionality and the only action button that works is O and that just takes me to the menu.
Other than that though game loads and works fine, the touch screen controls all work.

Any reason why that should be? Looks like other Xperia owners are getting it just fine.
It's letting me download on my Xperia PLAY R800a... I'll tell ya how it works shortly (maybe even make a video)

Custom ROM? I am on CM7, and it's not letting me download it.
I miss this game.. I'll wait for TLR's video..
downloading on r800i rooted stock rom ill give my feedback when its done.
Well, thx doom for powering my device up to 1.6 ghz. Now it goes flawlessy. Fairly bad that there is no TP support. Okay tbh the right does something: i guess it switches to first person. Awkward though.
Sent from my toilet.
Actually works on my Xperia play R800i, Pretty cool.
apparently is not available for South America because the market says it is not compatible with my device.
"This app is compatible with your Xperia Play."
There's some lag spikes, adn some of the controls are broken, can't use the slider(analog) thing, for example I can't look right or left inside the car. Sometimes it won't react to anything.
IT WORKS!! (r800x stock verizon rom)
The game doesn't show up in the launcher, but it does use Xperia Play's controls. D-pad for movement and steering, the left touchpad changes radio stations or weapons, right trigger is sprint our accelerate, left trigger is jump our brake, triangle is e-brake, circle is enter/exit vehicle. Swiping across the screen is needed for camera control, where as the right touchpad does nothing (as far as I know).
Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be any way of reassigning the hardware button configurations at this time, but it's useable. I hope that gets patched along with the lack of inclusion in the Play launcher.
The game runs great, even on my stock Verizon kernal and rom! It runs with very little slow down, and doesn't impact the game whatsoever. I imagine an overclocked Play would be buttery smooth, but this doesn't affect my enjoyment at all.
Just finished playing a couple of missions and it runs well. Some of the creature features that you may be used to like changing to the radio station of choice maybe missing. The analogs do not work but all the other buttons do. I would love to see this with full Xperia support but still playable up to this point.
Edit: aaaaahhhh ****! Swipe the radio station to change it. Game FM is the business. Sean P!
My xperia also says not compatible r800i 2.3.4 rooted locked bootloader
Sent from my R800i using xda premium
I wonder if it is looking at 2.3.4 on your device and 2.3.7 on my device and refusing to be compatible?
...and we have vidja!! ... I even wrote an impression article for you all!
(Impressions) Grand Theft Auto III released on Android… with unannounced Xperia PLAY Optimization?!
Why have we got three threads all about this? Getting annoying trying to keep up and confirm that it does work with the controller but not the touchpads

Hell Fire Ssandwich rom V1.9 market problems

Hi i switched to this HFS V1.9 rom on my G2X. things seem to look pretty good so far. I am however having problems with the market. Apps like Bombshells: Hell's Bells and Cogs dont show up in the market.
I was able to sideload an apk for Bomb Shells Hell's Bells so i figure it should work in the market. I tried clearing the cache and the data for the goople play app, changing the LCD density, and using MarketEnabler but none of these solutions worked. any help would be appreciated
according to play.google.com Hell's Belles isn't compatible with the G2x, but Cogs is
i can see Cogs while running CM7 but Hell's Belles does not show. so not sure why you can't see Cogs

[Q] Vice City Not Working on AOSP

I've downloaded the OBB file and the apk file for GTA Vice City. On TouchWiz ROMs (Synergy, Jelly Beans, etc.), Vice City works perfectly fine. However, I mainly use AOSP ROMs because of the speed and I want the newer android version. Vice City runs incredibly well on these ROMs, however, what happens in the game is that whenever I get inside the car, the screen freezes. My phone doesn't freeze, but what happens is the screen doesn't update. So I could still be driving, but it's stuck on the frame where I entered the car. Does anyone know how to fix this problem? I love this game and combined with the cheats, I love doing crazy stuff. Any ideas? If there is no fix, then it is fine.

I can tell you its something to do with ASOP. ive tried diffrent roms and kernals and this happens. i can also tell you 3d mark also has issues on ASOP. i know something in the video drivers was updated on alot of kernals recently so maybe see if an older one works and maybe something can be pinpointed.

go to the video settings of the game and set the resolution all the way up. thats what fixed it for me
GTA Vice City
Thanks guys for the fix. I have lean kernel with gpu oc'd to 480 MHz so it runs better at the higher resolution. Thanks for your time
