I decided to give adw another try, if you do and change your setup to run 8 columns and 5 rows without icon text you can fit a ton of stuff on your home screens. Just make sure you resize your widgets accordingly.
Will post a couple screenshots soon.

I was running that for awhile, and it was super fast.
SRE1.2.3 w ext2 is working better for me as i need gps for the time being.
Anyone have any ideas for a good theme or two from this launcher?

I've gone between adw and launcher pro and I kinda like launcher pro better but adw has way better configurations. I'd say the speeds about the same.

I tried ADW again because after my latest restore LP kept on FC on me.
I like LP's scrollable dock, but the ability to have 20 icons+ Fancy widget on the main screen is working well for me.
I use laucherpro because I can have 5 icons on the dock and have an additonal 5 applications off the dock via swipe.
it is super fast, works, and kinda digging the new facebook widget, works well.
Which program do you prefer? And what is a feature that you like about the 1 you chose? I have personally used Launcher Pro which came with Fresh ROM on my Evo but while I was browsing the market I noticed ADW Launcher and seen numerous themes.

ADW for me
I keep coming back to ADW. The single feature I love over Launcher Pro is the swipe action. Nudge up and Notification Bar hides or shows. Nudge down and the notification bar opens. In Launcher Pro you have to set up swipe areas in the dock, too specific for me.
Just my personal preference...
Put me in the launcher Pro group.
I like to run a clean screen and its scrolling dock combined with folder organizer allows me to access everything I want quickly without the screen clutter...
YMMV

I prefer ADW because of the horizontal page by page apps scrolling. If LP did this I would probably use it.
ADW - Swipe actions ftw
One more vote for LPP. Paid version is well worth it.

Like the swype action of ADW. But I love the lp icons. Both are good

launcher pro for me. somehow ADW app drawer seems to lag..
I started with ADW but moved to LP.
The smooth animations alone makes it a better choice for me.
I used too use ads but launcher pro is way better

Launcher Pro Plus. Between the Plus widgets and the Beautiful Widgets clock, I don't really miss anything from the Sense launcher.
I haven't really tried ADW, though.
I'm an ADW guy, the swipe actions are very handy. Also, the custom icon ability makes my home screen much cleaner.
Yeah, those are Launcher Pro icons, so I guess it's a bastardized ADW, oh well.
LauncherPro for me...I too love the scrollable dock. I don't like clutter
Noob question Im learning to use ADW coming off Launcher pro, how do you change the dock icons around or add new ones.
I started with LP then went to ADW when it was included in my ROM. Tried LP again because I love the scrollable dock but LP just seems to lag a bit on my phone. I don't know why
So anyways, ADW for me...........for now.
ADW for me. I like launcher pro but I've just grown accustomed to AdW more. Either way I don't think they're that much different to make a bad choice.
Hey all,
I have always been a fan of other home launchers like launcher pro and go launcher.
What i have noticed though is that they are not "tabled optimized".
With that i mean that you still have the dock like you have on your phone and the icons and widgets are much smaller.
Is there a way to get one of them working the same way as the default launcher?
I like the sizes and i don't need the dock, only thing i do want is the extra options which the alternative launchers provide and i do believe they are smoother than the default launcher.
Thanks!
Try ADWLauncher EX. It's tablet optimized, has a ton of options and the launcher bar can be hidden or not used if you want.

i often get that when i wake my TF that it laggs al little or needs to reload all the widgets and icons.
I want to see if this is due to the default launcher by using a different launcher.
But all the other launchers have smaller icons, have the dock, have other widget sizes, and the app list is ugly!
so far i tried LP, ADW, GO.
None have the same sizes as the default one, so i was wondering if this can be adjusted with some simple settings..
As far as I know you can't adgust the size of the icons on the dock. I also wanted to do this but was unable to. As for resizing all other icons, go into the ADWLauncher EX settings > Icons > New Icons Settings > Icon Size and you will be given a slider to adjust the icon sizes.
Most widgets can be resized using ADWLauncher EX. There are some that will not resize despite what you do.

Not the answer i was hoping for
so i guess i will have to wait until one of them makes a tablet version the wait i want it
or seem to find out why my launcher lags or needs to reload everything.
Maybe its prime.
I use desktop visualizer app to resize my icons. You can download PNG files from Google or Bing to create custom icons as well. Works well with adw ex. You can have your icon take up the whole screen if you really want to.
Sent from xda premium app
ADW EX has The ability to use larger icons. Its in asd settings/ui/icons. Then just check the box for the density hack. Makes the icons the same size as the asus launcher. ADW is what I use and it is a huge improvement over the stock launcher IMHO. For those looking to hide the dock and expand the desktop area it does that to. You just need to select that in the main dock settings, then in the new hidden dock settings disable that to and presto no more dock.

I personally like the hidden dock. I just swipe down and it goes away, swipe down again and it comes right back. Kind of like touchwiz mini apps.

With Folder Organizer app, you won't ever need to go to app list. Just add the container labels to the Home screen or notification area. App Organizer is an alternative from the same developer.

Having purchased SPB shell 3d for my phone, I've tried it on my Asus as well. Performance is OK but I don't like that you can see parts of the adjacent screens. Not running it right now on either phone or tablet.
After it's last update, I think ADW blows everything else out of the water. It's really nice.

Hey folks,
I highly recommend replacing the touch Wiz launcher with nova launcher. I have found it much more intuitive, and much easier to use. (I am not affiliated with Nova in any way.)
Several advantages:
1. The bottom bar (dock) of apps is highly customizable, with as many apps as you choose. You can also create multiple pages of docked apps, so it's possible to access 10 or 15 apps on the lower dock.
2. The App drawer is automatically alphabetized, unlike touch Wiz, which I find so much easier to use. There are of course workarounds on touch Wiz, but why bother? I just dock the icon for the app drawer on the lower dock so it's always available.
3. Nova has one step back up of your screen layouts so that if you are wiping your phone regularly in order to reflash ROM's, it's trivial to reset your screen layouts by doing a restore from nova. This saves a lot of tweaking time.
4. You can customize the layout of your desktop with variable margins, a persistent search bar on all pages, gestures, and with nova launcher prime ($4), you also get unread counts for SMS, missed calls, and Gmail, which is very nice.
5. Basically everything is customizable and modifiable. I greatly prefer it over the stock touch Wiz launcher. Check out the free version of nova, as it has virtually all the features other than the unread counts.
I personally prefer apex but I can see the appeal in nova. They are pretty similar.

I tried Apex but had a super annoying rendering hug that would display a box on the main home screen for a split second...
Not even considering that I spent a few hours tweaking Apex for a few hours (loved that it had so many options) but 90% of the Nova defaults were perfect for me and after going from Apex to Nova was convinced that it was right for me.

Just fyi... the "work around" to get the app drawer alphabetized is clicking the menu button with the app drawer open and then clicking, "view type" and switching to alphabetized. Not exactly complicated. Or even a work around.
Nova is great, but I'm actually enjoying touchwiz. I do want to switch over and play with nova more... But eh, not seeing a huge need. Coming from sense (which I hated) I'm quite happy on tw.
Though I do miss being able to back everything up

Any idea what's up with the widget selector for Nova? I click on the widgets tab and instead of the expected widget drawer I get a list of widgets similar to ginger bread.
Is this a feature that's unlocked with nova prime? Or is that widget drawer option something different? Other than that Nova is pretty sweet!

Apex and Nova are both based on the stock 4.0.x ICS launcher, so they're very similar, but Apex gives more features for free.
You're definitely making a mistake if you use Go Launcher or ADW or LauncherPro on this phone, since those are Gingerbread-based. The ICS launcher is just a much, much better base.

Hello everybody,
I'd like you all to know that I would like to open-source ARM Launcher to continue active development. see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2326240
---
I've just released version 0.99.16 to google play. This release contains the following improvements/features:
Allow custom icons in the main dock (a lot of requests for this).
Fix that an item drop preview will not be shown for the top left corner.
Google play compatibility with devices like nexus 7 (thanks to a dear college for letting me borrow his nexus 7).
Improved start-up time.
Support for quick restart after being killed by android when more resources are needed.
Due to the change of the way the dock works, long pressing the icons it contains now starts a drag. To access the quick popup, long press the drawer icon.
----
Hello all,
I'd like to announce a new Launcher for android. ARM Launcher. The goal is to have a fast, user friendly and highly configurable launcher. All devices with android 2.3.3 and higher are supported.
Features:
Support for various theme formats.
Sidebar to quickly start your favorite applications, recent applications or search all applications
The launcher supports Launcher Pro+ themes and includes the same widgets (except for the gmail widget).
Not limited by a 4x4 grid. ARM Launcher has much more grid cells to allow you to layout your screens as you'd like.
All widgets can be re-sized.
Lots of integrated widgets
Long press the default icons (dialer, drawer, contacts) in the bar to easily access your recent messages, recent applications, bookmarks, contacts and recent calls.
And much more.
ARM Launcher is not based on the android 4 stock launcher like for example Nova and Apex Launcher are. Instead ARM Launcher has been built manually from scratch using the the android Stock Launcher only as a reference.
If you'd like to try ARM Launcher, please download it from google play. Search for "ARM Launcher" to find it. Any feedback or suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Please not that this application is a launcher, you'll have to start it using your device's home button.
For screenshots please visit sites.google.com/site/armlauncher/screenshots
Thank you!
I love your launcher , No lag in animations , Light on RAM. Just wonderful . Widgets are beautiful especially the message conversations and calender. Thanks.

And highlight the main differences between Apex, Nova and ARM. Yours is a lot better when it comes to home page customization.
[Q] Would it be possible to integrate something like Unity launcher or Swapps as "recent apps"? I mean like a side toolbar. Swipe gestures are the hype of 2013

Extremely nice launcher, some bugs here and there, but definitely worth. Could you add the "caroussel" swiping effect from LG if possible. And some customizations such as transparency support, local icon use and contol over the app drawer such as removing tabs to show icons only would be very nice. Let me thank you once again sir. Really hats off to u for this awesome launcher. I don't have words to describe the joy of using this launcher.
Thanks

I'm not talking about the up and down gestures which are less useful with scrolling widgets, imo. I mean the side toolbar which one can expand with a gesture from the side of the screen to the middle, the are a few and work reasonably well: unity launcher, Swapps. But if these Ubuntu phone inspired functions would be part of ARM launcher that would be excellent!
Nova and Apex are practically the same, the stock launcher with a lot of options. And that's exactly what I love about your launcher... This one is really different!

I definitely like the way Swapps looks. I will probably add something similar. Nice suggestion!
I'm running it on CM7 Atrix so I don't see why it lags? I think the first goal of any launcher before features, is making it smoother than launcher pro.
Keep it up though, it can be great.
Smooth
Working very smoothly on my galaxy prevail.
Fantastic launcher for beta. Really smooth and fast overall. But no gestures mean no go for me. I will keep an eye on this though. Hopefully see more features in the future.
I really like the look and feel of this launcher. Long-pressing the dock icons is a unique feature.
Transparent widgets would be great.
The app drawer acted up at first. Some icons were missing although the name of the app was visible, and I couldn't open any apps from the drawer. Once I changed the drawer direction and chose the recent apps view, it settled down and began to work properly.
