ALL Browsers crashing - Xoom Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I updated to Flash 10.3 and everything worked fine. Then Android 3.1 for my Verizon 3G Xoom. Now my stock browser closes out by itself, as does Dolphin, AND Firefox. The stock browser doesn't give a 'Submit Report' window but the other two do. I have cleared cache, history, etc on all 3.
It try going to the same page after crash and sometimes it will work for 10 seconds or so then crash/close out. Can someone please help, I use it for web more than anything. Greatly appreciated.

No one has any ideas? I even just rooted and tried to fix it by putting different kernel, still nothing. Clean 3.1 even w/o flash installed still closes the stock browser w/o a crash screen report. Any help appreciated

Try factory reset .

I did that a couple times, also re-flashed stock image and then upgraded to 3.1. The video is so much smoother which is why I'd like to keep 3.1 and not revert to 3.0.1.

you sure it isn't a bad app you installed. Ive gotten maybe 1 crash since the 3.1 update. Way more stable than 3.0.1 it could also be a bad widget.

I had same widget and apps on 3.0.1 and had some crashes but nothing that resembles what I have now. I'm at a loss

Skyfire browser not working in 2.1

Does anyone else have the problem that the Skyfire browser is no longer working in 2.1 ?
When I startup the app, it only shows a black screen and nothing else.
The back and menu button still work, so the app is not stuck, I think...
Uninstall and reinstall did not do anything.
Any sollutions ? (other then reflash ;-) )

thats odd it works fine for me i have a brazilian generic 2.1 x10a

Fine here. Tried cleaning the cache?
Yes,
I tried to clear the cache, but there is nothing in it.
Since I flashed my device it has not worked.
I am on the global ROM, but I cannot imagine that this could be a reason.
Do you all have the latest version or what version numbers are you on ?
It is working for me brazilian generic too...
But I can find the license key in the market, it says "app doesn't exist".
For me it's working fine. I had problems just when I uninstalled the stock browser: in that case skyfire wouldn't start, I had to install back the sony browser and now they are both working.

That might be the problem then, because I uninstalled the stock browser too.
EDIT:
I installed the SE browser again and everything is OK now.
It seems that the Skyfire uses the original browser. Good to know. ;-)
Thanks
I had the same problem
Apparently skyfire is hardcoded with the SE browser ... if you cancel this Skyfire will not work ....

unable to play flash content using firefox or opera or skyfire

Rooted xoom, with T1.41 kernel, stock browser can play flash contents, but firefox does not, opera does not. Sometimes, sound canbe heard, but can see nothing. Please, someone help. Using latest flash player.
Very confused.
Those browsers don't play well with flash. Use stock or Dolphin.

Before rooted, it was fine.
The older version of Flash 10.2.156.12 did work in Opera on the Xoom. But when Flash 10.2.157.51 came out 2 weeks ago, Opera start to have problems with Flash contents.
Opera on my Galaxy tab also having trouble with the new version of Flash. Hopefully the next release of Opera will fix the bug. In the main time stock browser is the only option for watching Flash content on the web.
P.S. last tome I checked, Firefox does not yet support Flash.
Edit: My XOOM is still stock and un rooted.
Thanks
Tried xscope, it was fine with the latest flash before rooted, so does opera, it is rather strange as all of them do not work now.
I have been using dolphin without any issues.

Anyone got Adobe Flash problems after ICS?

Since ICS Flash makes all my browsers freeze up when trying to play Youtube content (especially fullscreen mode).
Yes i have issues playing flash video too.. i cant get twitch.tv to work. I have tried opera, dolphin and stock browser.. it was workibng fine before ics
hey yeah same problem here.
even tried with chrome browser and still can't play flash
Hmm, I tried flash in Dolphin on OTA ICS and it seems to be working OK. At least I was able to play YT clips. Maybe uninstalling and installign flash again will help? Or clearing its data/cache via applications management?
I cannot find anywhere to clear the cache on Flash. I can only uninstall/reinstall it. All I get is a grey window when I try to play any videos on youtube. If I force the user agent to desktop mode in Dolphin for instance it will play but if I try to fullscreen it it will just hang.
EDIT: I found a workaround. The default browser sends you to m.youtube.com and if I try to play a video it just gives me a grey rectangle. However if you press the rectangle the seekbar comes up. If you then press the seekbar advance a little it will then play fine and you can even fullscreen it. Nice big fat bug there though.

To fix Flash in ICS, follow these steps:
1. Wipe Data & Cache for the Flash App
2. Uninstall the Flash App
3. Reboot your TF101
4. Install the latest Flash from Market
Your Flash should work fine, after following the steps above. Let me know if this solved your problem.

After i updated to ics i did a factory reset, does that count as data wiping/clearing flash cache? Flash seems to work ok for me on some sites but as mentioned before twitch.tv doesnt play on any browser. How can i clear my flash data/cache?

Use Titanium Backup and Wipe App Data for Flash. You can uninstall the app in Titanium, too.
[edit: Titanium Backup is only for Rooted ROMs. You can go to apps in the Settings menu and select the Flash App if you are on a non-rooted ROM to clear data and cache, as well as unistall Flash. If it is greyed out, then there is probably no data or cache info to wipe and you can proceed to uninstall.]

My tf is not rooted. I have done what u recommended (app settings/clear cache/app data/uninstall/reinstall flash) still no luck with twitch.tv. Before ics, it was working perfectly. On another note, flash does not work at all on opera browser. Opera doesnt detect that flash is installed.
Has anyone on a non-root TF running ics got twitch.tv to work? Im starting to regret the update.
I have the same problem, even after wiping data and cache, uninstall, reinstall flash. For me this is no solution.
G'day...
I have exactly the same problem as described in the early posts. I have tried reinstalling the Flash player repeatedly with no success. I get similar symptoms in both the stock browser and in Dolphin.
I think I'll stop trying to fix it for a while before I throw the damn thing through the window.
My unit is an un-rooted TF101G and I only got ICS update sent out last week - I thought they would have ironed out all the bugs by now. Right now all I want to do is go back to Honeycomb...
I had the problem when I switched to ICS Gnufabio ROM. Flash and even youtube stock player would cause problems in HD fullscreen. Videos were unwatchable. I switched to CM9 ROM - the same thing.
However, since flashing Megatron 1.0.3, flashing gapps again and with TestyMeh 1.0 kernel running @ 1.2 it suddenly started to work!
I've been experiencing the same problem.
I've found that it sometimes works if I go into full-screen mode first, and then plug in the HDMI cable. It all goes black for a few seconds, but then the video shows up in fullscreen on my TV.
As for the freezes, usually I have to close the browser, kill it, open it (and sometimes repeat several times before I can even navigate back to the page), then fire up the video again. But I've found that sometimes I can just power off the device (ie tab power button to turn off display), then turn it back on after a couple seconds, and video starts playing again correctly.
What a pain, though. Never had these problems with Honeycomb.

Hi all, wondering if anyone found a solution to this issue? I'm on stock rom 4.0.3 (no root), YouTube play fine for me as it's html5 but any online content that uses flash player lagging badly. Will HD rom fix this issue ? Thanks
Ps: tried full wipe and installed latest version of flash player, no luck though.

Frederuco posted this on his 4.3 ROM tutorial
Yes and no - Adobe has dropped flash support for Android. The latest versions were for 4.0 in August 2012.
HOWEVER - You can still sideload flash. First, go to Settings - Security - Unknown Sources. Tick the box. Next, go to the Adobe Archives and download the latest version for Android 4.0. After it downloads tap on it to install it.
Flash works well in the stock Browser, Firefox, Firefox Beta and Boat Browser. Dolphin has disabled flash support for JellyBean last time I checked.

I know I sideloaded flash and it only worked when I got the right version, and to tell you the truth I haven't a clue whether it is still working as I am on KatKiss KitKat 4.4.v22 now and don't use flash pages much. I do remember a lot of people talking about sideloading Flash as the only way to get it to work.
Hope this helps.

Thank you for your reply, this is exactly what I have as my setup. Flash is side-loaded but none of the ics version work. I mean they do but lagging badly. Prior the update to ics I was using flash side-loaded with no problems

[Q] Out of nowhere multiple issues and FCs

9020t running CM9 3.4 w/ stock kernal, has been running perfectly fine but all of a sudden this morning multiple apps give me the error "Unfortunately **** has stopped". Along with that I know at least 1 app disappeared, my launcher reset to default, and apps that had already been granted superuser are asking for it again. Chrome prompts "Critical Functionality required to run Chrome is missing; either your Chrome installation is incomplete, or not compatible with this version of Android".
Going to do a full fresh wipe, wondered if anyone else has had this happen recently.

I had this happen with my old LG Optimus T, Booting into recovery and wiping the cache's did the trick to fix it without wiping the whole phone. But if that fails then a full wipe/re-flash would be required.
If you're going to do a full wipe anyway, I suggest you reflash CM9 as well, Just in case the flash image somehow became corrupt.

[Q] Constant Reboots with Synergy

This started occurring last night when I was using Winamp to sync music files to my phone. Every 10% or so the phone would reboot itself and I'd have to start the entire process over. Since then, I've been getting random reboots while doing anything from typing an e-mail to closing an app and haven't been able to narrow it down to anything specific.
So far I've tried
1) Removing my external sd card
2) Uninstalling numerous apps to try an pinpoint one causing an issue
3) Underclock from the 1.9 ghz the rom comes with
4) Removing the battery
5) Reflashing the latest nightly, clearing cashe and dalvik
Anyone have any idea on how I can try to resolve this? I love the phone and the ROM, but I can't deal with random reboots while just using my phone normally.
Thanks in advance.

I had this problem too with the latest release, even after reflashing it, and it even popped up randomly like your issue after using the ROM for a while. All of the sudden random reboots all the time. I went back to R64. I think there is a different kernel in some of the newer releases or some change, I don't really know, but R64 has been running perfect all around and hasn't rebooted once on me. You may be able to dirty flash back to 64, I don't know if it will work because I didn't try it, but I do know a clean flash fixed it for me. If it's just kernel issues then dirty flash should work as usual.
