That's the one I used when I first got mine..
Pay attention to the end.. Install Rom Manager and have it install the latest CWM so recovery sticks.

My mothers Evo will not update to 2.3 on stock but the 2.3 update just offically came out yesterday and the phone says there are no new updates, but on sprint it says there is.
What do i do? Besides rooting i will not do that because its a damn pain?
You might have to manually update it.

Well hello Samsung user. Welcome to the evo. Rooting this phone is as pain free as turning your samsung on. Maybe you should read up a little bit.

By the way no its not i've tried before 40 steps no thank you,
Try rebooting the phone, then updating both profile and PRL.
Unrevoked had my 2 evo's rooted in 5 minutes each. Not seeing how that is hard. But anyways, glad you got the update to go through.

You guys should have no problem using Drhonks cwm kernel with this. Just open up the rom zip using 7zip and replace the zImage in the update folder with drhonk's. DONE.

He is not rooted and he's wondering if he needs to be rooted to flash this and how you go about flashing it? Any help u can give would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Since this is flashed through CWM, he would need root for it. Tell your friend to refer to the bible. It's all you need to know.
Much thanks to our deodex god! XD

airfluip1, we all thank you for the work you do but I don't think it's a reasonable request to ask people not to post something they spent a day on just because you spent a day doing the same thing.
Maybe in the future you could post ahead of time and people can work together on things.

Take all the zips extract all but 1. Take all the other ones extracted and use astro file manager and copy the apps into the one that wasn't extracted. Then flash it and your good to go. That's what I do.

If u put the other apps in one of the flashable zips like say u get the inverted mms app and copy past it to the inverted gmail.zip it will flash cuz there's already a script in that zip
