Angry Birds Crashing When I Restore Data - General Questions and Answers

Hey guys I have a huge problem with Angry Birds. I flash my ROMs like I always do and I always do a batch backup using Titanium Backup. After restoring the data, Angry Birds keeps on force closing. Am I SoL and have to start the game from scratch?

Did you have the game installed to your sd card when you backed it up? If so just move the game back to your sd card.

You only need to copy a couple of files from your backup to have the saved levels. It's named something like "highscores" or similar. I can look it up if you can't find it. All you do is copy the backups of those files in to replace the ones in the installed version and you're back in business.

As far as I know, it wasn't installed on the SD card. I'll try moving the app to the SD card though.
I'll take a look and see if I can find the file.
Edit: No luck.

Have u done a reboot?

If you mean by uninstall Angry Birds, then reboot, then install Angry Birds, then restore data, nope. Doesn't hurt to try I guess.

Are you restoring the app+data, or are you restoring the app through the market and the data through TB?

Tried both methods. Basically, I think it's the data that got corrupted and is forceclosing Angry Birds. All my Angry Birds don't work btw, not just Angry Birds.

Ok I just tried again on a fresh ROM install. Downloaded Angry Birds, all three versions from the Market. Load the game and it was fine. Restoerd data using Titanium Backup and it force close. Looks like I have to start from scratch

You don't need to start over. I don't really understand what causes the problem but I think it has something to do with flashing from 2.2 to 2.3 and then going back.
To fix it you need to flash the last rom that Angry Birds was working on. Then restore with Titanium Backup. Use Root Explorer and go to /data/data. Then find com.rovio.angrybirds (or angrybirdsrio or angrybirdsseasons) Once you are there click files. Copy and paste highscores.lua to your SD card.
Now flash whatever rom you want. Download Angry Birds from the market. Open the game (you must open it as it creates folders when you first lauch it). Now exit the game, go back to Root Explorer. Copy highscores.lua from your SD card and paste it in the Angry Birds directory where you found it. Then you must long press on the file and click change permissions. The following boxes must be checked:
User: Read, Write Execute
Group: Read, Write
Others: Read, Write
This will restore the points you have on each level as well as all of your stars. It does not restore fruit.
One other thing....if you are having problems with multiple Angry Birds Games you can create 3 folders on your SD card, name them (AB, AB Seasons, AB Rio). Flash the ROM where they were working and copy the highscores.lua files from each one into the correct folder on the SD card. This will make it easy to keep track of which file is for which game.

Unmount your SD card and install Angry Birds, remount SD card and feel free to then move the app to the SD card if you would like. I just did this tonight to install Angry Birds Seasons on my phone and both it and Angry Birds on my wifes phone today as both phones kept giving errors when trying to install.
I installed the full version of Angry Birds on my phone when it first came out and never had this issue because I just restore from Titanium Backup when I change ROMs.

[Q] How to get the save file of gameloft games

i need to find the save files of my game loft games because i need to change my ROM. I've read some forums and it says that i need to backup the files using titanium backup and the save file is on the SD card gameloft folder. I've previously backed up the folder and changed my rom and put the files again i just have to start over again. backing up doesnt help me.
btw i gotta android phone

[Q] What are the files inside .android_secure?

i seem to have over 1 GB of wasted space in that folder .android_secure
any 1 got a clue if those are safe to delete?
I've never found that deleting anything on my SD card caused major problems for the phone, including .android_secure. Of course, that folder has never been 1 GB in size for me, either, so I suppose your results may vary. Really, though, all the system stuff is in the protected internal storage, so I doubt you'll do much worse than delete media files or whatever apps you've moved to the SD card, if that. I say give it a shot and see what happens. Of course, I take no responsibility for anything that does go wrong if you do. >.>
apparently those are Apps settings or something along the lines
i flashed SuperAOS and during the wiping process it showed it was deleting .android_secure
App2sd
This is where the operating system stores a portion of the apps. Anytime you install a new app and choose to install it to the SD card, it puts a large portion of the app into this folder. Deleting the contents would delete your apps.
If you move an app to the SD card via the official (2.2+) method, this is where (most of it) goes.
Hi,
I recently flashed a new ROM and had to do a full wipe including factory reset. I copied some apps to SD, and indeed I see that the .android_secure folder has a lot in it, taking up space. I installed all apps again from market on the new ROM install, and they all say they can be copied to SD again, so they don't take information from the previously installed bits on the SD card. Is it safe to delete everything in this folder?
EDIT: I have an HTC Hero, but only noticed when I posted this that this is a Samsung Nexus S thread. I'm guessing that this is not that big a deal?

sorry to revive this thread after so long, but does this folder also store the app data? In other words, for games like plants vs zombies or angry birds etc, if I copy the corresponding files over to my new phone (after installing PVZ/AB on the new phone of course), does it also copy over my progress?
(recently swapped my EVO 4G to EVO 3D and trying to figure out how to copy the game progress over - esp for PVZ)

Guys I really want a perfect Backup of game Big Business..

My phone is rooted.. I used Titanium Backup to backup the data.
Backup and all works just fine.. Even restore works fine for me..
After restoring the data, the Game don't open anymore..
It crashes every time I open it..
I tried to copy only data from /data/data folder and restore in new ROM..
Application crashes every time and dont open at all..
Is there any other way of backup so that after restore, it works fine..

were you able to get this solved?
I'm having exactly same issue...
+1 same issue here.
Ive been trying to work out where the game saves files as the savegames are NOT on the SD card, it caches the files internally somewhere but i have limited dev knowledge on this sort of thing.
ive contacted the game dev but they were no help at all!
I had this problem but using my backup pro (free app) seemed to backup my apps with my saved data.
App-Backup restore does the job

Restore Titanium Backup through dropbox

I uploaded my apps to dropbox because my current Nexus S broke. When I got the new one I could not restore my apps. I rooted the new phone and installed TB and DB and did this:
With Titanium Backup 3.6.4 (or above):
If your backup folder is empty, then with you can simply switch to the Schedules tab and hit the “RUN” button in the “Sync to Dropbox / Box.net / Google Drive” section to download all backups from Dropbox / Box.net / Google Drive back onto your phone.
The downloaded files show up in TB, but when I go to run all missing apps with data it says 0.
Sorry for the stupid question but I already did the searches and other than this I came up empty handed.
Just move the TitaniumBackup folder to SD. Wouldn't that be faster? Maybe something got corrupt from DB to TB.

Your backup may have been corrupted if moving to SD didn't work.
So I downloaded a few apps and tried it all over again but with less apps. Same problem. I'm doing something wrong or not the right way.

I think something must have been corrupted, because i have done the same thing repeatedly and never had any problems. I just copy the TB folder from the sd card to a new location and point TB at it. I have done this from my evo, to my nook color, to my wifes epic touch with no problems. Since i dont ever save system apps i dont worry about restoring incompatible files. Only app that ever has a problem is Swype keyboard. I have to download that one new every time...
Yeah, but everytime I do it with a new set of apps it still doesn't work.

So I learned I have to set the preferences in TB and tell it where the backup file is. Anyone else know what else I might not be doing?

Backup and restore
Using Backup&Restore Drop-box plugin on Word-press is really helpful. It has Unlimited dropbox backups, Unlimited dropbox restores, Unlimited local backups and Unlimited local restores.
