Thanks for trying. Do you mean you would like
1. clicking on contact means composing sms rather than make a voice call? or
2. one more button or something like that for each contact so that you can start composing sms in one tap?

Nice design, I would like a silver instead of black color for bar and keypad option though.
Please add greek keypad language and search. Here is letter layout:

I would like option 2. Right now when i search for a contact, and a contact is found, once i click on the contact, it auto dials, which is fine. If i click on the little man icon on the right side of the contact name, a smaller sub menu appears listing down the contact's info. so i'm just thinking if there's an option to replace that little man icon with a sms shortcut so that if u click on that, then it will use the default mobile number and bring you to your default sms app with that default mobile number.
oh yes, a couple of feedback points .... but how am I going to clear the call logs with angel dialer? I couldn't find a way to do it.
And I don't know if it's just me but the graphics of the app don't seem too sharp, it's a little bit blurry. Not sure if you used lower res files so that the app will load faster ?

I have 1 suggestion:
I would like the ability to show contacts that match the criteria at the beginning of the name first. Say I type "22". This means I am probably looking for AAron, ABraham or ACe (completely made up). Instead, names like mr lAAn of biancA Brown or 00316000022000 may end up before the other ones.

Thanks for you opinions. Regarding to call log deletion, just long click the contact and have a look at the last two menu items.
What device are you using? Maybe I miss some environment specific images?

Ok, I went to the Call Log section, long clicked a contact appearing there and the last 2 menu items is Share as vCard and Copy to Clipboard. I don't see anything related to deletion at all. I would have thought the logical thing would be having another option to clear logs when i press the Menu button regardless of what section I'm in.
I'm using Desire HD. But you know what? After changing the theme from black on white to white on black, it seems a bit sharper now... though the Angel Dialer icon is still a bit blurry when it's beside my other icons on the App drawer, but no big deal.

I believe if you open the Android Market URL with Dolphin Browser, you will be redirected to Android Market app.

Oh my fault. Will make the calllog deletion available ASAP. Sorry for that.
I created hdpi images for the app, but I do notice at emulator sometimes that it is little bit blur as you mentioned. I am not sure why.

This one has a lot of potential,
In terms of functionality it works great and has a lot of features that other dialers are currently lacking.
However, I do feel like the UI is out of place. It looks like an iOS port.
In my opinion apps that deal with core functionality (such as dialing) should try and go along with the native look of the OS.
P.S. props for having Hebrew T9 implemented this early!

Will give it a try now, although I am very satisfied with dialerOne.

Testing now on HTC Inspire on CM7 N83

I have The Simply Honey Gingerbread ROM (2.3.3) installed and my default dialer automatically closes whenever I tried to use it. This has solved my problem...

Really just the colors, nothing too fancy.

Crashes on x10mini when typing number that relates to Greek contacts with first name and last name. Sent crash reports that say DAXGr.

The 2.8.17 build 2 is an amazing build, we did a lot of improvement like performance tuning , memory tuning. Added Call history T9 Search , mark unread Missed Call as bold red color .

Couldn't find a forum on your website, so I'll put this here and maybe someone ten times more capable than I will write it for you LOVE THIS APP.
I'd love to see an 'old school' theme for us middle-aged farts who grew up with rotary dial phones and granddads who worked on the old mechanical switching equipment. A skin which turns the dial pad into the old rotary style, and if you wanted to get really fancy, when you hit the <call> button it plays a little animation which rotates the ring and clicks in the patterns of the number entered. I know there are similiar apps out there that do this, but not one that works WITHIN Rocket Dialer.

That is cool , actually we considered about that style before but current design only works for square dial buttons ... May add the old school style in future.

I just came across this; not exactly Rocket Dialer, but should suffice for novelty purposes: Old School Dialer.

I've been using RocketDial for awhile. It works very well after you take the time to go through the custom settings to tweak things the way you want.
My only problem is I have never figured out a way to change the "Dialing" background. It has a picture of a flower.
I can change the caller ID background but I can't figure out how to change the "Dialing" background. Can anyone help?

Okay, I finally figured it out. See attached screenshots that walk you through it, and the final screenshot which shows my new (custom) background picture.

[APP][ICS+] ContactsNotification +Sidebar v2.00 Final

I present here a new app.
It allows you to choose up to eight contacts, which will be shown in a notification or a configurable sidebar. Tapping the contacts will allow you to call, message, whatsapp, email or many other things. This allows a faster workflow when you need to call someone when you are doing other things.
Just install the apk, open the Contacts Notification app, choose your contacts and press update.
The notification will automatically appear after a reboot, so you only need to do this once or to change your favorite contacts.
I promise I am not storing or doing anything with your contacts.

Custom themes:Go to your sdcard, folder ContactsNotification/overlays.
There create a folder, for example, mytheme.
Into that theme add a border.png, sms.png and phone.png file. They must be 500x500px png files. pohne.png and sms.png must have border if you want it to show. A sample file, called "holo by dapaua.zip" is included.
To show the sidebar (if enabled) , just slide your finger over the trigger area.

Since no text is displayed, for most contacts, I only have the default avatar-icon. So it alternates two gray-scales but that does not tell me the contacts.
For contacts with no avatar or picture, could have or text (may be option with pic as well!) or a way to choose one of a few icons. Of course, I should just take some pictures and use them.
BTW, one of Nokia's weird half-touch GUIs used such a scheme for its contacts.

You are right, I am thinking about showing text for contacts with no picture.
But you should definitely add pictures to your contacts. They will show on all your android devices, and even on your computer if you use gmail. I know that it is a time investment to set all your contact info, merging all contacts (you know "dad home", "dad mobile" ) . But it will make your phone much more useful if you do.
I didn't know Nokia phones did that.

I don't know if it's just my phone/set up (Evo 4G, Evervolv JB nightly 02/18/2013), but when I tap the icon in the notification drawer, I have to pull the drawer up manually to get to that contact; if this is how it's supposed to work, it'd be helpful if it automatically pulled the shade up so your contact is waiting there for you. Other than that, cool app and very handy!

It should automatically fold the notification drawer. It did in my trials. I don't know why is it not working for you.

Another idea: Than 4-5 would be too much but the alternative for those who really do want more would be ... slide 'em. I think Nokia's widget works that way.

I could add more contacts, I just thought four were enough. In my screen more than four wouldn't fit, though.
I cannot make them slide, because notifcations cannot be laterally scrolled. They can be expanded in JB, but I don't have a JB phone to try it, and the emulator doesn't really work properly.

1. Can you remove the icon in status bar? I like to see the carrier name and on my AT&T Samsung GS3 your app icon replaces that.
2. Could you add a feature to configure a default action for a contact such as "call mobile" or "call home" or "sms", etc? I'd like to just hit the icon and have it start dialing. If you can do this you want want to add some overlay text or an icon to indicate the action (a phone or text icon).

Great app with a lot of potential.
Some suggestions (also mentioned by some other users)
1.Give option to show or not the icon in taskbar
2.Allow to choose default actions when icon is pressed for direct calling
3.Give option to show selected contacts OR latest contacts from call log (it will give the program a call notification function also) !
4.Fix the total look especially in the settings and a quick way to access them (maybe put small settings icon-half size,before the 5 contact pictures.
5.Translate it If you want Greek i can do it for you

Tried both the apk on here and also from the Play Store, both had the same problem. Could just be the ROM I'm using, still a cool app, I'll keep up with the versions to come!

It happens with Galaxy note 1, I tried with one and the same thing happened. It is because some sort of bug in samsung Contacts app, that's why it is contacts that FC and not my app. I don't know how to fix or go around that bug. I am sorry.

The Steam mobile app is definitely due an update, the last update was released in March 2012, but I don't see that changing for a long time.
The current interface for the Steam app is terrible, low quality images all over the show, it's a direct port from the iOS app, and that most certainly
does not follow the Android design guidelines. If Valve won't fix and update the app, who will?

This App is a modification to the official app from Valve on the Play Store. This mod completely changes the user interface from the ugly interface
that is currently in use, to a more pleasing interface known as "Holo". The visuals of this app follow the Android design guidelines as closely as it
possibly can without having to recode the entire app.
As well as this app being a visual update, the app also comes with speed increases, stability and general smoothness all the way throughout the app.
The standard app uses images for the text input box, send button and many more features of the app; using images for assets such as this contribute
to slowing down the speed of the app due to there being more files to read from. I have removed the need for many images in this app by moving the assets
from using images to using official Android code (Assets such as chat text input and the send button).
Every single visual asset of this app has been changed and rebuilt using the Android guidelines. The action bar is no longer an ugly bar with diagonal pin stripes
with a gradient overlay, it's now a single colour Android action bar. The chat bubbles are no longer obnoxious low quality bubbles, they're now high quality boxes
similar to that of the boxes used for Hangouts. All these visual changes and more in the app.
On the official app, scrolling through web pages (such as people's profiles) was painful, scrolling would take forever with a huge noticeable lag on every scroll,
making tasks such as viewing your games list unbearable.
To install this app, you must first of all uninstall the official app from the Play Store if you currently have that on your device.
Once the app is uninstalled, you can then install this version.

There are various programmes which will decompile an app, once you've decompiled the app, you will be left with the apps source code.
Once you've got the source code, you can start modifying images, XML files and Java files. Once you've done, you can recompile it, usually using the same programme as the one you used to decompile, although the signature will be different

I found a first bug and a thing or two which can be reverted:
- If you have pending messages, touching the number near the name doesn't open the chat. I need to touch the name, then touch chat.
- The message boxes used to be gray and blue, now everything is white. If you can add alternating colors, it'd be great!
Suggestions for expanding features (which may be impossible since decompiling doesn't give the original source, but asking can't hurt!)
- Do you think you can fix the notification system? Steam somehow doesn't push them like WhatsApp does.
- Steam group chats is something the app has lacked for forever!
- Ability to clear history of certain chats while leaving others untouched?

The bug with tapping the chat button not working is a long standing bug in the normal Steam app and is completely random whether it happens or not, I will continue to look into a fix for this.
Alternating colours were a thought while developing, however in the end it was decided to use completely white. The white is much more appealing than alternating colours, it also attempts to mimic the Hangouts chat boxes.

Is it possible for you to release the source code or is Steam's license prohibiting that? Just asking since my Steam account is too valuable to be put at risk. Now, I am not saying that OP is out here to steal peoples login info, but there's always a risk involved when you are logging in through a 3rd party app.
If only Valve would man up and update the damn app. It's been what, over 1½ years since they updated it, yes, it looks horrible, it's slow and barely usable.

The chat button not working problem just appeared for me for two people I usually speak with, didn't happen before, but I think that's a coincidence then.
If you could include the option for alternating colors, it'd be great. Google design choices aren't always perfect either and I like to see who's who at a glance.
With the notification, I mean that the notifications often don't get pushed but feel like they get fetched, since they often don't notify while the screen is off and when the screen is on it suddenly notifies again, having like a 20 minute delay. Though I think it's just Steam not using the Google Push Notifications, and this might be impossible for you to fix.
Attempting sounds great! Sadly I think you'd need cooperation from Steam somehow, I don't suppose there's a clear API and messing around in decompiled code isn't exactly very structured .
The clear history option was requested by a friend, they wanted to batch-remove some histories, though I can't really see the point of it. Might be that they have a lot of messages from lots of people.

Contact Searches will be nice i guess, really helps the elderly with their T9 recognition Gonna subscribe!

Its very good, very smooth. You hace just cleared my homescreen of lots of apps. The only thing left in my homescreen are Dial an App, Browser, Google Maps and Iron Man 3.
Aesthetic wise, I feel like it needs more improvement, but hey, thats only graphical part. the core part is flawless.
Suggestion: Perhaps user will be able to 'dial up' settings? You know, like going directly to the WiFi settings, or directly to storage setting to eject USB on the go, or more importantly turning on the USB debugging inside the developer mode. I'm sure this will be a major request. Although you should also add a setting whether to enable dialing up shorcut settings or not, not all people want it.
Suggestion: I guess you need to add a setting page if you want to corporate more feature, as most people want to use certain feature and dont want to use certain feature.
Idea: There are some people that hide certain app and dont want people to see it, I guess it will be a bad situation if your app shows their hidden app.

Great app, will they be a paid version? Not a fan of the ads, would give a couple bucks to get rid of them!

It would be better user experience if the dialer was drawn over your current app, instead of using your wallpaper as a background -- this would give a more fluid app launching and changing experience instead of the current feeling of being taken away from your current activity
It would be nice to be able to change the app icon grid and icon sizes -- some people will want fewer but bigger icons, some people will prefer longer list with smaller icons
Since there's quite a lot of screen space for listing the apps, you could implement (an optional) row of recently launched/recently used apps. I think a lot of users are really just switching between 4-5 most common apps and this would make the interaction faster.
In addition, there could be an option to pin a favorite app(s)
Lastly, it's not at all obvious how one can change the keypad colors (long-press on clear seems to do it), and you are left wondering if there are other settings available as well (like changing the grid size)

I wasn't aware, I'll have to check, however Dial an App is soon going to be a complete Dialer and a part of my upcoming Homescreen launcher, you can give it a try and see for yourself all the features. Your feedback will be appreciated.

You know, I'm a right handed. My phone screen size is 4.7 inch diagonal. The situation now is that, after there's only one app left in the screen, its all the way at the top left, which is quite a stretch for my thumb. You might even have problem with this yourself. So I was thinking maybe after one app has left, the app will be highlighted (somehow) and brought to the center, that would be better I think. or maybe you can just touch anywhere on the screen and it will launch that app. Or just add another button that will launch that one app left standing.
You konw, this reminds me of Ubuntu OS, which is quite similar. Maybe you take insperation from these? My point is, after a few letter, the app that you want might be the first app in the list, so you can just tap a button and it will launch the first app in the selection. Of course for me, I feel it will be better if the app selection there will have some sort of popularity calculation to determine which one comes first,kind of like when you type iin the address bar in Firefox, most frequently visited site will appear first in the list.

When you integrate the feature, dude i'll love you..... for now i use app dialer pro because it provides a home screen widgets but as soon as you release the widget for app, app dialer pro is going to trash...... loved your app, sorry but i'm still not switching... i'll stay with you though, subscribing the thread.

1. Add an English version of the news widget.
2. Add 12 hour format for the clock
3. Do not automatically sort all of our apps into many folders, it makes sorting it all out a train wreck.
I love the direction of this theme, however. It has great animations and colors. Also, could someone explain to me what the GeakOS account is for? I am reluctant to sign up.

Fist of all, thanks so much for your suggestions !
here is what im trying to do:
1. for the news widget, the English version will come, im searching for internatial rss.
2. you could set the clock to 12 hour format on the settings.
3.for the automatically sorting options, If you do not like it, we could try to change this in the next version, if most of users feel the same way like you.
for the GeakOS account, signing up one is for cloud service, the next version will support this function.
So anything else?

I will continue to check in for updates and further suggestions. The theme is very fluid and nice in my limited use, so that is definitely a good start. Can't wait for further improvements!

Here is the instructions for changing the clock to 12 format:
More settings - system - date and time - cancel the click of "Use 14-hour format"

Ya the older style without auto folders is much better. Icons look better now. One more thing which I had requested earlier was contact photos. sure many people would want it. Especially if you can get MiUI style icons for contacts without photos... Something like what follows next

I really think it is a good idea and we also consider to add the smart avater to the contact.
But we are confusing how to do it in details and whether most people would like it !
So you mean if you add the contact you do not want to add the photot in your gallery.
Instead, you want the system match one for you, right?

Ya if there is no photo selected for any contact then the system (GEAK OS) should display a specific icon for that contact automatically instead of the boring default contact icon. If it displays the icons like MiUI of Gmail then it would be nice. I recommend that you take a look at Identiconizer app be GermainZ. Its fabulous and maybe you will get some idea.

Yeah I got that
Depending on your words and I also tried MIUI and the link you give me.
If user do not set the photo of contacts:
For the miui, It display the two letter of the name, just in a different font.
For the ChameleonOS, It only display the first letter.
So none of them seems very satisfied , I wonder if i coud display a more interesting pic, instead of bank.
How do you think?
