I would like to modify shellres.dll.040C.mui (french WM6.0). So, I use first ROM Extractor. I enter \windows\shellres.dll.040C.mui in the field "Save to", and ... when I boot again, the device is frozen on the WM welcome page.
I made the same operation a couple of weeks ago but I was thinking that I made an error when editing the file then copy it on the device.
In fact, the problem seems due to the use of ROM Extractor. Copying the file in \windows seems not so good...
So, where should the file be saved ?
i already asnwered before, get a shellress file found somewhere in the forum(will give you a link if found) and just edit it, as its teh same for almost all the devices, then just cab it up and installit in your device
Ok, but I need a french version and ...
... and, for my understanding, I would like to know how to do that with the ROM extractor. Where should the file be saved ?
Help ! Where the file must be extracted ?
Which value to enter in the field "Save to" ?
1. "\"
2. "\windows"
3. "\shellres.dll.040C.mui"
4. "\windows\shellres.dll.040C.mui"
If I choose option 4 (the most logical for me), my device cannot boot (it's frozen on the Windows welcome page) even if I don't modify the file.
040C is a french version.
Anyway, if I get the english version as proposed, where the file must be installed ?

That's the problem, you need to sign it first. - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2069287

Hi
I followed your Topic, i was able to decompile it...but i can't recompile it
can you please do it for me ? cuz i'm in a hurry i need it by Wednesday..
You just have to replace the train480x320.png
in \res\drawable with the same image that i have uploaded with the rar file and sign it..
That would be perfect
thanks in advance
Hi!
I've been working on a few different game mods over the past few months, and seem to have hit a dead end with particular files.
Namely, a resources.pak file, which I know is a packaged update for the game I am working on. I cannot seem to find anything that will unpack or decompress the file!?
There are a lot of tools out there for .pak files, but all seem to be for Quake Mods, and have specific formats which they expect the .pak file to be in. All of which I have tried have been unable to open / unpack or decompress this file
Has anyone else come across these files? or had any better luck than me in their attempts to get inside the package file??
The .pak file I am trying to unpack can be found at www . dcuonline . co . uk / so / resources.pak (Sorry for the hack, the file is too big to attach, and I don't have enough posts to link directly )
Thanks in advance for any help anyone can give.
Sorry to bump this guys.
Is no one able to assist with this?
Hope this is ok to ask, I am hitting a brick wall..
I'll try and include as much detail as possible, so apologies if it's a bit long.
I am trying to convert apk to gpk - two apps in particular; MX Player and ES File Explorer
I have downloaded a tool with instructions from another forum using google translate from Burmese to English, but it's not perfect and still very hard to understand.
The name of the tool is GPKMaker.
From the instructions, I think I need the APK and the Data file folder from the same device that I am trying to install the gpk on. But I don't know how I would get the latter without installing it first..
I tried to use the MX Player Data folder
- com.mxtech.videoplayer.ad From another device to make the gpk.
I have attached a jpeg of instructions that also came with the tool (In Burmese - I can't translate).
From what I can make out, this is what I am required to have to make it work\install correctly:
(Using MX Player as the example)
FOLDER - MXPlayer with a subfolder and .ini file inside it
MXPlayer
game.ini
And inside the subfolder
MXPlayer.gpk
MXPlayer.png (Logo)
MXPlayer.xml
I have done that, and inside the game.ini file I have this written:
[MXPlayer]
package=com.mxtech.videoplayer.ad
version=1.7.40
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
and inside the XML file I have this written:
<?xml version="1.0" ?>
<Files>
<item type="gpp" path="MXPlayer.apk" offset="0" size="9976082"></item>
</Files>
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
I then place the main MXPlayer folder on the device I want to install it on, it appears and begins to install, but then stops and doesn't seem to go any further.
I'm guessing where I'm making the main mistake is the data folder.
But I can't find how or where I may get the correct folder from, would it have to be the same chipset? Or would the same cpu be sufficient?
I have tried the same steps above with the ES File Explorer and get the exact same results.
Hopefully someone can help me.
After searching extensively, I see GPK are also used for cracked/patching game files. But seems that would require the revers of what I am looking for.
As a result, there seems to be mutiple videos/links/programs for converting gpk to apk.
But no good to me, I want to convert into the file format everyone seems to be trying to get away from (typical)
Is this in the wrong subforum, or is nobody able to help?
I am really trying, but unfortunately getting nowhere.
Any reply may be helpful
[SOLVED] only if that's a real gpk file?
This is an easy fix.
That MXPlayer.gpk, is it a real .GPK file, not an .APK rename to a .gpk?
if it is a real .gpk, then you are not telling the device where the file is?
in your xml file you list MXPlayer.apk, but the file name is MXPlayer.gpk.
do that an you will the that it works.
(NOW) please tell me how did you convert an .APK file to a .GPK file, using that windows GPKMaker program?
please step-by-step.
Thanks.
