Optimus 7 mango? - Windows Phone 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Will the optimus 7 get the mango update or not?
or if it does, will it be slow?
like how the 3gs getting the iOS 4 update is slow?

It will as the hardware capabilities allows it and the "mango" update has basically updates on functions nothing on the core, besides not all WP7 has been sold (as some of them are expensive like the optimus 7) still waiting on the shelves
i think you need to be patient and be part of this pioneering same as happened with other OS
peace

So, it is getting the mango update then?
would the specs be too low for mango?
and what about the other first launch wp7 phones?

Of course it will get Mango, it's just an update. If anything, it depends on your carrier to screw you over or not. And it should run just fine, since WP7 has some very strict hardware requirements that pretty much every device meets perfectly.
It's just a matter of waiting for it to arrive

Mango beta 2 is already available for the Optimus 7.
Also, Mango actually give a nice speed bump-up to current devices.

LG & Mango
Mango works great by following instructions from this site:
Im not able to link any links here so lets do it this way just copy paste and change ** off
h**p://windowsphonehacker.com/articles/get_the_mango_update_now._without_being_a_developer.-06-30-11
Installed that last night and there isnt much change but chevron ringtone thing is not working anymore, but ringtones is still there.

re-lock LG Optimus 7 from mango update
hello, after upgrading my LG Optimus 7 to mango beta, phone blocked, ie not running homebrew applications, I can not unlock it by MFG, has anyone a solution?

After Mango Beta 2 upgrade, I just used MFG the same as normal to unlock. I haven't tested to see if the unlock worked, I just assumed that since the registrys updated sucsessfully, that it is good.

Nice! Just got the HTC Arrive!

So I got it and I'm very happy with it. What are the first things I should do?
Sent from my T7575 using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
When you've setup all your accounts?
First thing to do would be to get it syncing with Zune on the PC, that'll also pull down any updates that are outstanding.
Then I went ahead and started installing all the apps that I'd researched prior to buying - ones I use daily are:
BBC News Mobile
Weather4Me
Amazon Kindle
Turn-by-Turn Navigation
Night Stand Clock Lite
HTC Youtube (is WAY better than the standard app)
To be honest, Windows Phone requires so little by way of setting up that you can probably safely start playing around with the settings, setting up live tiles/bookmarks in the browser, and generally making it your own!
I was pretty much done setting mine up within 2 hours...
For the YouTube app I'd look at either SuperTube or LazyWorm's YT app. Both have their merits. LazyWorm's seems to have the faster interface, but SuperTube has downloading of videos for offline playback.
Can't say I've tried anything beyong HTC's YouTube app, it works perfectly well and as a bonus even has a resume function so you can start where you left off..
One thing I did forget to say: Don't forget to setup security! A SIM PIN and device lock code are always recommended, and also, check out http://windowsphone.live.com where you can track, lock, and ring your phone if it gets lost or stolen.
The Arrive is CDMA, there is no sum.

Err? I presume you mean SIM, in which case I wouldn't know, but I'd assume there would be some alternative security measure.
It's generally good advice for the significantly larger number of GSM phones though. The Arrive is also not the only version of the 7 Pro

Reading through all the links you posted, none of this will help unlock a HTC Arrive since there is no Pre NoDo rom for the Arrive. Unless I am missing something. :/
The best thing aside from unlocking for now (which will be coming post nodo for what $19?) is to upgrade to the Mango Beta.
Hmm, but what is this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1142120 ? This is NoDo for Arrive or not ?
BTW install HSPL: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=16189671#post16189671 and install customROM 7713: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1205111

You need a pre NoDo rom for the Chevron unlock you posted. There are none for the Arrive since it was released with NoDo installed.
The HSPL link specifically states that it does not support the HTC Arrive. Do not try it on an HTC Arrive or you could mess it up:
This release does NOT support these WP7F devices:
*GoldC (Arrive)
*SparkW (Trophy Verizon)
These devices are not supported because they are missing at the current moment in DFT team. Please don’t even try to use this release with them – it may brick your phone or make it unusable.

I also have a HTC arrive and currently there is no way to unlock it. Makes me sad too. Nodo added cdma support and since sprint is cdma anything pre nodo wont work on a htc arrive so there is no way to unlock exepct getting devolper code thing
Yes

Just get a Dev unlock... do some reading. If you have access to a .edu email account, it's free with a little work. If you dont have a edu email, google it, there is a few ways to get one free for this use.
Otherwise, no you can't unlock your arrive because it's got NoDo on it.
yes it is very possible to unlock the HTC arrive, but what I am looking for is a way to remove the sideload limit in mango on the arrive? has anyone figured this out yet?
I'm running RTM 7720 with the "no-unlock" alternative. No problems whatsoever.

You may have to go back to nodo and I can't answer any questions about side loading due to my MS Partner agreement, but here is a link to the procedure:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1238841
Are you certain you want to go through all of this this close to carrier release? You will want your carrier release because it will probably have some specific driver enhancements, ring tones, carrier-ware, etc., not to mention support issues.
Hope this helps!

[Q] MS says 7392 update only for samsung focus v1.4

The update schedule for WP7 on the Microsoft link states that the 7392 update is only for the AT&T samsung focus v1.4 only.
What is the reason for that??
cant post link... but you can check the update schedule on microsoft windows phone website

Your wording is not correct. It is saying that it is only DELIVERING to 1.4. All devices will receive all updates (except firmware specific updates). When Mango is released, all 1.3 devices will receive 7392 as well.

This is the difference between Android & WP7. All WP7's will get the updates for as long as they are still supported. Of course at some point an old devices will become unsupported officially, but all current WP7's will get Mango at least.
7392 Is only for Samsung Focus v1.4
Sent from my SGH-i917 using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
Focus ver. 1.3 is set to get the update on Tuesday, ver. 1.4, which seems to give even Samsung heartburn wont. They are scheduling the ver. 1.4 for completion by the end of Oct. You'll get the update, just a little later sorry to say.

I'm on Windows Phone 7.5 Mango i guess. I'm not sure how to check but the other time i bought the phone i asked the guy he said its Running on Mango.
Check by opening Settings->About. There should be written Windows Phone 7.5.
If you're on mango there is no way to fully unlock WP7.5. However you can use the new ChevronWP7 or get a Apphub account. Are you a student?

you've installed an unreleased OS update and are wondering why apps don't work with it yet...
theres any number of reasons it might not work at this point, lets wait until an official update is released, (zune!) and see if they update the app.
as for the Focus, assuming its unlocked we can make it look like any device / version we can think of

The update is officially out, if you want to install it through nokia care. Nokia representatives confirmed, but i can't be bother to find the posts.
Any new lumia 7.5 model will get the 7.8 update out of the box. Existing ones can get it though care if they don't want to wait. They are currently working on a way of updating existing phones WITHOUT wiping all data.
So, bluetooth share is an issue right now, as many others reported (even in the marketplace comments).

7.8 has not been officially released by anyone regardless of where it is available
it would be most unfortunate that this turned in to a situation similar to when Mango was released, in that folk updated then couldn't get the official update because they didn't release the update from beta updates... meaning they had to wipe the device anyway.
everyone just needs some patience around 7.8, it will be out when MS and the networks say it is, supporting apps will be fixed to work with it when they too get fixed...

Bluetooth share is most likely hidden in the marketplace by nokia.
The app can now be installed, but you need a direct link to the marketplace to do it. It still does not show up in the search or nokia collection.
