[Q] Keyboard no pinch zoom? - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have the latest dock firmware but there is no pinch zoom in any apps, is this normal?
Sent from my Transformer TF101

I've tried the same, it seems all single point does is move the mouse point, and two points you can scroll up and down/side to side. Any more then 2 doesn't seem to do anything. I'm hoping more gestures gets added down the line, but I guess its not too hard to reach up and hit the screen either.

currently the touchpad has limited MT support.
The only multitouch is two fingers in any direction scrolls. nothing else works.
So yes it is normal what your experiencing. Unfortunately for the time being, and possibly forever since asus hasn't commented, you'll always have to use the screen to zoom.

I found that in a browser, double tapping the touchpad zooms in and double tapping a second time zooms out. Just shows that they might be able to unlock more possibilities in the future... Maybe...

Android……TF101……copy paste hotkey

Ive know that we can copy paste with a long pressing on the screen
but its not so convenient
are their any hot key on the keyboard……that would help a lot
if not……may any professional genius guy make it come true?
Control+c, control+x, and control+v on the dock work as might be expected. Most of the time controo+a does as well but sometimes I have to hit it like 3 times.

truely have found that
now……another problem
how to select by using mouse with "leftclicking + moving"
Honeycomb+ and some apps (Opera Mobile) have very good selection, tap/hold or click/hold a word to select it. Using your fingers to tap/hold or the touch pad to click/hold on the blue bars, will allow you to adjust the selection. This is a lot more flexible than the model used by Windows and X11, and much closer to how Vim and Emacs does it.
Personally I find the touch pad great for adjusting the selection, even if I usually use the finger. In the TF101 (and probably Android in general), using a mouse is just a virtual finger, it should work the same way as your finger. The touch pad becomes much like touching the screen in a way.
Just play around with your device and see what does what. Software wise it's hard to break unless you are flashing something.

Keyboard Button Fail. Still love the keyboard dock though.

Anybody else notice the button to launch the browser will only launch the stock browser? I have the stock browser disabled and use Chrome as my default browser so that button does nothing for me. No big deal, but the real fail is the location of the button to lock the screen! I keep hitting it when I reach for the backspace key. I'm sure as I get used to the keyboard size I will be making fewer typing errors and I will get used to it, but locking the screen every time you overshoot the backspace key is kinda lame.

Would you really label the keyboard as a fail just because of this? I have never hit the lock screen by accident. There is a lot to get used to, coming from a pc keyboard (and android on-screen keyboard) but it's great to have all these feature keys. I really love the keyboard dock...leave it docked at all times.
Yeah, after owning the dock, I wouldn't want to go back to using a tablet without this extra functionality.
Misleading titles annoy me.
Edit: Here is a link for the Dock browser button hack. (Root required to mod certain files) I haven't tried it myself but it should still work for those that have the original TF201 dock. This will allow you to change what browser is launched instead of the native browser.

Now as for your issue with having the lock button on the upper right corner... Good luck with that. Its not a flaw from the device. Its more human error. Adapt evolve... You can do it!!! Haha. I for one love the Dock! Quite the opposite from what your title insinuates.

Yeah I really would never own a tablet without a dock after this. People's faces when I show them my "netbook" is actually a tablet is priceless. Keyboard FTW!

How is the title misleading? It wasn't intended to be misleading. And even if it is misleading your inflammatory comment is just as annoying. Thanks for the link though, I will look at it for sure.
And whether or not it is human error isn't the point. I know it is human error and I have already adapted to the size of the keyboard. I can proudly say I haven't hit the lock key since I posted this thread. I just wish they would have put a different button in that spot.
Edit: Changed the title of the thread to be more clear.

People ask, "Is that a netbook?" I tell them no, it's an android tablet and pull the screen from the dock. So far this has resulted in oohs, ahhs, and wows. Kinda funny.

You'd really call THAT an ''inflammatory comment''? Oh boy....
OT: I've hit the Sleep button numerous times, and keep hitting it since I go back and forth between my (primarily gaming) desktop at home, the desktops at work and my TF700. It is getting a bit infrequent, but every time I hit it still is a sigh moment. And I keep missing letters like the "a" and "o", and I kee hitting ";" instead of " ' "... but hey, that's clearly my fault.
My wife is a touch typer (or 10-finger blind, or whatever it is called in English ) and she won't even use the hard keyboard because it doesn't provide the feedback she needs, or something like that. Maybe you have primarily the touch typists' aproach, while people like me (who have to look at the keyboard anyway) have less trouble?

Yes, I know how to multi quote. Do you know how to send private messages when trying to communicate something that is off topic? What harm is there in the method I use to quote people? If you can tell me a good logical reason I will start using the multi quote.

does anyone else have the same issue as me that the tab key on keyboard doc does not tab fields it just advances the cursor by a couple spaces?
best example is when using the google spreadsheet app, tab does not go from field to field like you would expect. Other times would be when something is looking for a username and password. tab does not advance you to the password field

Different spaces between pages

I'm currently on stock, and I found this little weird thing that changes from time to time.
the spaces in between the home pages changes, it's not a big deal but it did catch my attention.
I attached screenshots to show you guys what I mean
Can anyone explain this please?
It just happens. When the spaces are larger, then you can click on the side of the screen to scroll pages but when they are shorter, you can't do this. It really does seem random
Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF300T using xda app-developers app
Actually, I can still tap on either side even when it's shorter. Kinda just found it weird that it changes at random

Apps reopening themselves?

Ive noticed recently that my browser and youtube apps seem to minimize and then open again. I dont see the homescreen, the app kinda shrinks like it was closed, and then expands from the top. Im really not sure what has caused this. This only started happening recently and i have no idea what could be causing it. The only thing ive installed recently was the humble bundle games.
When it reopens, it remembers what i was typing in the youtube comment, but the video is stopped and i usually need to rewatch the ad before i can skip back to the video position. Really annoying on the bigger videos.
Other problems im having is i get random lines flicker across the screen, and almost looks like its an 'extra' line that shifts the image up by one pixel to make room for it.
And then i noticed on the asus keyboard there is a spot on the spacebar that doesnt work. It makes the typing sound when clicked, but no space character is typed. Its on the far right side of the spacebar. It was extremely frustrating until i discovered why half the things i typed had no space even though i was SURE i hit the spacebar.
I'm having the same issue, I posted a thread about it over in the Q&A section, but still haven't heard of any workarounds... but i will at the least confirm i have the same issues
Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF700T using XDA Premium HD app
I can also confirm I am having the same issues, all of them.
Especially prevalent is the apps minimizing then opening themselves up again. I've been trying to figure out if an app is doing it but I don't think this is the case. I have also installed Humble Bundle apps though, it could potentially be that.
The keyboard's spacebar seems to just be bad hardware design. I miss a lot of spaces as well and have slowly migrated my thumb to the center of the spacebar because of it.

It was happening to me with the old firmware before i installed .18 even. I held off on updating until yesterday. Its got to be an app...
I think I fixed this issue by enabling GPU rendering in developer settings... Now the only issue is the random black line flickering which seems to be a common issue for everyone on Android 4.1.1
Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF700T using XDA Premium HD app
The apps re-opening issue has vanished for me, likely due to an app update im guessing. I didnt change anything except update some apps, though im not sure which one it could have been.
I still have the lines flickering, and the right end of the space bar on the virtual keyboard still doesnt work. Etc. Though, these problems seem more common so im guessing/hoping they will get fixed.
Yea I haven't seen it either.

How to get SNote to stop zooming when palm hits the screen

Is there a way to get SNote to stop zooming in when your Palm hits the screen? I tried the disable hands thing at the bottom right, but it turns out SNote still detects two fingers and palms.

I'd like to know as well, and I have the same problem in Sketchbook Pro.
I've also got the same problem in sketchbook pro. It's be great if you could just disable finger input entirely when the spen is out, and soon by tapping plus or minus or something.

Bump...this is an overlooked flaw in the UI design. XDA to the rescue! Its a bummer when your writing and all of a sudden...you are zoomed in at 200%. Someone help us...also the settings tab on the status bar is frequently activated when I'm writing. I think that when the pad is in S-note or any other writing mode for that matter any non-pen input should be ignored... until switched off or reboot.

It's annoying me so much that I'm likely going to return the tablet tomorrow. I'm still within my 14 days. When I right on a notepad or notebook, my palm definitely sits on the page. I end up zooming in/out or hitting the *system tray (clock / settings etc).
I love the multipoint screen but there's got to be a way to turn it off.
GMD Spen also requires root. I don't want to root my device until it's out of warranty!

Touch input should be disabled when your spen is within the air-view distance from the screen. Just make sure your pen is close to the screen before you put your palm down and do not lift it too far off while you write.
Really wish for a control to turn off pinch zoom in S Note on my Samsung Note Pro!!
