[Q] OK To Format SD Card Before Selling Phone? - General Questions and Answers

Selling my original Droid to a friend (I know...hey, he wanted it!) and I wanted to know what would happen if I completely formated and deleted everything (all folders and files) from the SD card. Making it completely blank and then putting back into the phone.
The phone is still rooted and running a custom ROM. He wants me to leave it rooted with the ROM still on there. If I formated the SD, would he loose root and/or the custom ROM?
I'm wanting to format so I can delete any traces that the phone was once mine. If this won't screw-up the Droid, what is the best way to format my SD card?
I'm assuming that if it is blank, any apps that he downloads will create their own folders on the SD card? Would he have to manually create any folders (i.e. Music, Pictures, Videos)?

I would back up the rom, format the SD, copy the back up back to the SD just in case you need to reboot a backup during recovery.

I would back it up first but it should rebuild the files when you put it back in.

SD Card Management

I have a 8gb sd card that is full of junk. Over the past couple of months I have flashed MANY new Roms, so every time I flash I have to re download all my apps via the app store. Unfortunately in my estimation I have about 18 "Handcent' apps on my SD Card. What's the best way to handle this stuff? If I erase the whole card my titanium backup goes with it and I lose everything.
Thanks in advance!
Copy titanium folder to pc, format the sd card.

Encrypted Sd Card and i cannot delete any files

Hi Guys, yesterday i decided to reset my xperia z5 to factory defaults because i wanted to have it with the apps i use the most and remove all of the others that i didn't use that much. So instead of uninstalling the ones i didn't use, as i said before, i did a factory reset. Before doing this i decided that it would be nice to take out my sd card to copy some pictures, without remembering that i had my sd card encrypted with my fingerprint, so i did the factory reset (with the sd card out of my phone) and after that i noticed that there was a marshmallow update for my phone, i accepted the update (with the sd card off my phone) therefore when i moved all the sd files to my NAS and i put the sd card back in i saw that all the files that i had moved to my NAS where still there. after that i decided to format the sd card with my surprise of seeing a Windows error message of "windows cannot complete format", i did a low level format, formatted my sd card with disk part, etc. None of the things i did worked, Do you guys know what i could do to my sd card to delete all the files in it?
Thanks a lot

TWRP backup did not include the SD Card Apps on Sony Xperia C2305

Hello, I have Sony Xperia C2305 Dual SIM phone. I have the phone rooted and I have 8GB SD card on which I have moved all of my downloaded applications onto. I decided to use Link2SD to increase space for more apps and I took necessary precautions as well.
I made a complete backup of my SD card into zip format filesystem and stored it onto my computer. I have TWRP 3.0 recovery installed. I went to recovery mode and made a complete phone backup from there. (Everything including cache, NVRAM . . .)
Then, I used AIO: Apps2SD tool to partition my SD card into 6GB FAT32 and 2GB EXT4 partition as per some valid tutorial. It formatted my whole SD card before partitioning. It went smooth.
I pushed my previous SD card backup onto the newly formatted SD card (6GB) and unzipped it there including TWRP ROM backup, I setup before and restored the whole ROM. I had 100+ apps but unfortunately all those apps are in unstable form. I can see them in "Settings > Apps > Downloaded" section but I cannot use them. Those apps look like broken pieces.
One strange thing, I found is that I read "SD card apps data gets stored in .android_secure folder" but on my SD card .android_secure folder is empty and instead all apps data went into a simple folder called "Android" and unfortunately TWRP did not back it up during backing up. Therefore, it was a wise move to manually backup the folder. I restored the folder after it, I restored the ROM through TWRP recovery mode. However, BOOM! nothing happened as planned. Above problem came into being.
Kindly guide me if I can recover my previous ROM as neat and OK as I had before or If I cannot recover it then what other things I can do?
Thank you in advance!

How do I use SD card after phone wipe?

I wiped my phone (Priv) when I sent it off for repair. I was using the SD card as internal storage (Android 6.01). I just got the (same) phone back, set it up, then put the memory card in, and it is telling me I need to format it before I can use it.
When I look at it's contents with a reader in windows, i can see a directory structure, but it won't let me copy any files off it. I am guess this is to do with the encryption.
Is there anything I can do to recover the data on the card? I had assumed when I signed in again with my google account, all would be well again!
